APPEARANCE
APPEARANCE
A sleek, athletic, marbled brown tabby tom with sharp yellow eyes.
Elderpaw is a sleek but well-muscled tom. Not the bulkiest in the Clan, by far, but he isn’t slim or fragile, either. He takes great pride in his appearance, working around the clock to keep his coat glossy and free of dirt and debris. His meticulous grooming has ensured that his coat is almost always glossy and sleek, and he works to make sure not a hair is out of place. As he grows, he’ll focus on maintaining his muscle mass, making sure he is always in top form. His lean but sturdy form doesn’t cut the most imposing figure at first glance, but if one takes a little more time to notice the muscles rippling beneath his coat, they’d rethink their initial assessment.
In regards to his coat, he has a striking classic tabby pattern. His base is a warm caramel color, fading slightly in certain areas. His muzzle and the rims of his eyes are a pale cream color, nearly white, along with a spot right in the middle of his throat. His sleek caramel base is broken by dark, inky black swirls marbling across his flanks and thick bands striping down his legs. His forehead is drizzled in the same black in the standard tabby ‘M’ fashion. His throat is ringed in black stripes, along with his legs and tail. His eyes are a stark yellow color, always sharp with intellect.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY
Elderpaw is the picture of a perfect gentleman. He is proper and poised, always speaking with respect and acting with dignity. Having been groomed from birth, he is incredibly well-mannered and courteous, regardless of how he may feel under the surface. He’s grown up quickly, never really having much of a chance to play and be a kitten, but the loss doesn’t seem to faze him. He’s grown into his position well, and works to maintain and perfect his public image every day. Physical appearance is incredibly important, and he takes great care of his body, making sure his pelt is always groomed and immaculate, and as he grows, making sure to keep up his training so that his body stays fit and strong. After all, he can’t appear anything less than perfect.
By all accounts, Elderpaw is a dedicatedly loyal StoneClan cat. His Clan is important to him, and he takes pride in helping the Clan grow and prosper. But underneath the surface, hidden beneath his courteous, gentlemanly demeanor, is another truth. He’s been fully indoctrinated to the beliefs of his parents, that the only worthy cats are the ones of pure StoneClan blood, and everyone else is worthless and unfit to call themselves a StoneClan warrior. He looks upon these lesser beings with a hidden distaste, and would prefer to not associate with them at all. Elderpaw can be somewhat haughty and arrogant, taught to believe that his bloodline is the most valuable line of cats in StoneClan.
Elderpaw has great control over his emotions, though, so very little of what he feels on the inside ever reaches the surface. Having spent his early moons learning to be well-mannered and well-behaved taught him how to gain dominance over not only his emotions, but his body language and expressions as well. Even with hate brewing in his heart and distaste souring his mouth, he can still pull off a smile and a friendly air. It’s a talent he’s honed since kithood, and his training with Lightningflash will test it and strengthen it. Overall, he chooses to play a suave and debonair gentleman, one who respects and honors the cats around him, even as he harbors a blossoming hate for those he considers beneath him, the half-bloods, the loner-born, the ones without the same pure nobility his family has.
He’s also incredibly keen. Elderpaw has a knack for reading conversation, tone of voice, and non-verbal cues. He’s highly observant, often sitting at the edges of camp just watching the interactions of others. He tends to pick up on things quickly, and has an innate ability to read the vibes that others are giving off. Elderpaw uses these talents to his advantage, determining on the spot exactly how he should portray himself according to the signals the other cats give off.

HISTORY
HISTORY
Elderkit was the first to be born in a litter of three to Shadepool and Jaggedthorn. His brother Condorkit was second, followed by the baby girl, Wrenkit. They were born into a family that bordered nobility, so it was no surprise that they were raised like it. Elderkit learned early on that Mother expected nothing less than propriety, and he was to remain well-mannered and courteous at all times. It was hard being a kit when so much was expected of him, but Elderkit has come to accept that it is just who they are. His two siblings had been dealt the same hand, so it wasn’t like he was singled out. If anything, it was Wrenkit who had it the worst, as Shadepool seemed to hold her to a higher standard.
Where his mother impressed propriety and decorum, his father impressed distaste for anyone other than pure-bred StoneClan cats. Initially disguised as passionate loyalty to family and Clan, a deeper undercurrent eventually made its way into Elderkit’s keen eyes. While Shadepool never outright expressed her views on the matter, Elderkit was soon able to read into her mannerisms and behavior to see that she held the same position as his father. Jaggedthorn, however, was less inclined to hide things, and instead took any available moment alone with the kits as an opportunity to educate them on what he thought to be the natural order of things. Elderkit eventually developed a feeling somewhat the same. Any cat that wasn’t a pure-bred StoneClan cat was worth less than the cats of pure blood; and even then, cats of his own bloodline were of a higher standard. He would never stoop so low as to say the words aloud, his mother had taught him better than that, but cats of other Clans, and even loner-born and half-Clan StoneClan cats, are far beneath him.
Now an apprentice, he has a new challenge ahead of him. Instead of being trained by a respectable, pure-blood StoneClan warrior, Birdstar assigned him to the loner-born Lightningflash. Elderpaw’s family is displeased, but very few would risk saying anything aloud. Despite his personal distaste for his mentor, Elderpaw is attempting to see it as an exercise of discipline. If he can hide his true feelings around someone he must spend lots of time with, then he’d be ready to deceive anyone. So while he doesn’t seek out Lightningflash for training, he will grit his teeth and make it through, testing the limits of his patience and control, honing those skills in addition to the skills of the warrior.
