Age: Eighteen moons
Description: 132 words.
Emberheart is an average-sized tom cat with short, fluffy-looking black fur and a long tail. His coat is dappled with brown fur which is only particularly obvious when he spends too long sunning himself as it bleaches to a reddish brown, a characteristic which earned him his name as a kit. His head and shoulders are pure black, while the brown fur highlights his legs and back. He has pale green eyes and often sports some form of amused expression, even if the situation doesn't call for it. He is lithe and what he lacks in height he makes up for in well toned muscles which hug to his frame. Despite what many think of him at first glance, his compact frame packs a surprising punch thanks to moons of vigorous training.
A medium sized tom with dark fur and pale green eyes.
Personality: 459 words.
Emberheart is a very light hearted and easy going tom cat who always pushes himself to do his best, often making a competition out of something to prove his 'superior' skills. Despite having a natural competitive streak he is usually more than happy to concede when somecat has performed better than him and deserves the recognition, often choosing to support and congratulate the victor in that case. He is a very quick study, always keen to put things into practise from the moment he learns them; but not always managing to meet the standard he expects from himself every time. Whenever he is met with disappointment it forces him to work harder to ensure that he perfects a skill quickly, however he doesn't handle continued disappointment well and not achieving his goals often leaves him in a bit of a sulk. Let him sleep on it though and he's usually forgotten it by morning!
He is blessed with a quick wit and is commonly found armed with a pun or quip to combat any situation. These usually come out without a second thought; regardless of whether or not he knows the cat he's conversing with well. He frequently uses humour to deflect unwanted questions in order to buy himself some time to process the situation, which can aggravate some cats if they wish to have a serious conversation with him. He is capable of 'sobering' up to be mature and dependable when the situation demands it however: though he will probably still make a joke to lighten the mood before actually helping.
Despite appearing quite confident, he is often plagued with self doubt and frequently wields his humour to prevent any cat from analysing him too deeply. He always tries to remember to be humble but often bites off more than he can chew in a bid to prove he is capable of doing something. This seems to elicit one of two responses from his clanmates; either reminding him in a long-suffering manner that he should ask for help if he needs it before taking on something huge himself, or occasionally sympathy. The latter is usually reserved to those who don't realise how frequently he is capable of putting his foot in it. He makes friends easily but whilst conversing comes naturally to him, he is inclined to spend a lot of time worrying about putting a paw wrong with whoever he is speaking to. He can count his closest friends on one paw and is fiercely loyal to them, his insecurities not appearing to affect him when he's around them. He would always happily rush to help a cat in need, though they may be subject to a few puns in return for his troubles if he did.
History: 350 words.
Emberheart had a reasonably easy kithood, all things considered. He was born to a loving mother and father and was the runt of a litter of three. Prey ran well and their parents made sure that they wanted for nothing, which meant that soon he grew to be as big and as bold as his littermates. He became Emberpaw at six moons old, apprenticed to his father Brambleleaf. He took to hunting like a duck to water, showing more promise than he did in his battle training. Battling didn't come easy to Emberpaw so he would frequently sneak off somewhere quiet in LightningClan camp in order to hone his skills in secret, eventually ascending to a level that earned him his father's praise. He remained close to his littermates, developing a sharp sense of humour as it was the only thing that seemed to ensure he stood out from his boisterous siblings.
Six more moons passed peacefully and eventually Emberpaw earned his warrior name: Emberheart. He was so proud that all his hard work and dedication had finally paid off, and for a while revelled in the newfound privileges that came along with his new status as a warrior. A threat to his idyllic life was looming on the horizon however, coming to a head when a badger attacked him and his sister, Mistleaf. Miraculously, Emberheart survived the attack but this came at an unspeakable price; his sister died. Enraged by the incident and looking for someone to blame, his brother Stormflight turned on him. He was insistent that the fox-hearted Emberheart should leave his place in the clan for this. Driven mad by grief, Stormflight eventually left the clan himself, unable to accept that it would allow Emberheart a continued place in it.
Fast forward three moons and Emberheart still carries the guilt of what happened that day, though he is making progress in not laying the blame for the incident wholly on himself. He doesn't know what became of Stormflight and hopes that one day StarClan will allow him to find him again so he can make amends.
