APPEARANCE A long-haired brown tabby-and-calico tom with splotches of russet, black, and white, and ochre eyes. Brightkit, from the beginning, appears to have both tabby and calico markings courtesy of his parents and grandparents, creating a handsome mix of both. His head and legs have normal brown tabby markings, a plain, dark mousey brown, with darker stripes, while the rest of his pelt is dappled with the colors of leaf-fall: reds and oranges, browns and beiges. He's short-haired and fluffy as a kit, but as he ages, his fur will grow longer and thicker, until he's as long-furred and sleek as his mother. His build will be quite large, but not overly so, with his fur making him look quite a bit bigger than he actually is. In the future he'll play this to his advantage, pretending to be slower and clumsier than he truly is, and then fooling his opponent when he suddenly becomes light on his paws. His tail especially, is quite thick and fluffy, and his whiskers are very long. He has wide, ochre-colored eyes, and tiny black tufts coming out of the tips of his ears. | PERSONALITY
Brightkit was so named for his adoptive grandmother Brightpool, but it's also suiting for his bright personality, in both behavior - practically bouncing off the walls of the nursery - and his curiosity. Brightkit is highly curious, though most kits are, but he really does want to know everything. Whenever he manages to squirm out of his mother's reach, he likes to make a habit of striking up conversation with anyone near him. He wants to know all about what the warriors do, all the stories they have to tell, and when his mother allows it, he'll sit in the Elders' den just to listen to their stories. When he's not trying to claw a story out of someone, he spends his time daydreaming in the nursery, imagining all the adventures he'll soon embark on when he's an apprentice. He's very imaginative, and will soon discover that he can get inventive and dramatic with his stories as he ages. He'll be a stretcher of the truth for sure, but for entertainment purposes only, and he cares deeply about what others think of him, while still being quite sensitive to anything they may be feeling. His habits may get him into trouble one day, but right now he's just a kit. HISTORY
BIRTH Brightkit was born in a litter of three, to Larkflower and Sunnyheart, after the former suffered quite a rough kitting. Because of it, she was quite weak for some time, something her kits were unaware of as they grew rapidly within a moon or so to be soon crawling all over her sides. All three kits were named after someone important in their parents' lives, and Brightkit was named after Larkflower's adoptive mother - Brightpool. KITHOOD It's argued between the siblings who was brave enough to scamper from the nursery first, but one of them definitely broke out at some point before their mother allowed it. Brightkit claims it was him, ravenous for an adventure already, but was quickly satisfied when a young warrior caught him just outside the nursery and told him a story of what happened when he first left the nursery and wandered down a rabbit hole. Brightkit listened with wide, fascinated eyes as the warrior told him how the tunnel had only just been dug out by the tunnelers quite recently at that time, so it was dangerous for anyone to be wandering down it, and that he'd almost drowned in earth when the walls suddenly caved in around him. APPRENTICESHIP At six moons old, Brightkit became Brightpaw, and was given a mentor to begin his warrior training. |
