BACKDATE GL 20 --------------- So much had happened to his clan in a very short span of time. Flooding waters had forced them to evacuate their home, and he expected the rebuilding process would take some time. Nests washed out, dens filled with water, prey washed into the river. There would be a time of adjustment when they got back, a time to sleep in one big pile while they returned things to the way they should be. And pacifying Dewfrost by letting her go gather herbs to replace the ones she'd lost. What she could find in this season of course.
But today wasn't about what would have to happen when they got home, it was about acknowledging the ones that were with him here today. He was still painfully tired, reviving from the dead would do that he supposed. He didn't regret since it had saved a litter of newborn kits, but it did make his place as leader a bit harder on him. Though they weren't home he felt this couldn't wait and strode to be in the middle of his clan, to look over each of them and took a breath to call out to them.
"Let us all be witness here today, to the bravery and sacrifice we have all been through in these last few days. We've lost clanmates, friends and family, but we have come out stronger on the other side. We didn't disperse, we didn't panic, and RainClan will recover. The vigil of our lost ones is over, today I have something important to present to my clan." He stood where he was, standing up tall and straight as he looked among the clan around him.
"I Silverstar, leader of RainClan, call upon our warrior ancestors to look down on these three apprentices. They have trained hard and shown to understand the ways of your noble code and I commend them each to you as a warrior in turn. Owlpaw, Wavepaw, and Wasp-paw, please step forward." He awaited the three to come forward, looking each of them over with a smile.
"Despite the hardships of these trying times you three have shown exceptional calm and rational thinking in helping your clanmates and your families to make it this far. Wavepaw and Owlpaw, I hear you two made certain that Willowbreeze made it here when she was still exhausted from giving birth, and tried your best to bring her nest and her kits to safety. Though the kits ended up downstream the effort wasn't wasted. Without your help a new queen may not have made it here to stand with the clan today." He paused, looking to the third of this trio of apprentices. "Wasp-paw, although your journey here today has been a rough one, you have proven yourself ready and able to join the warriors with your peers today. Continue to improve yourself and I have no doubt that you will continue to become a better and better warrior for RainClan as the moons pass."
The ceremony continued, as it had many times and would as the moons pass come many times more. Owlpaw, Wavepaw, Wasp-paw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your lives?" He paused, waited their answer, then continued. "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give each of you your warrior names. From this moment you will each be known by your warrior names; Owlfrost, Waverunner, and Waspstrike."
"Each of you have shown the traits that we admire in our warriors. StarClan honors your tenacity, loyalty, and determination, and your individual abilities to overcome the odds and come out stronger. Today, before everyone, we welcome you as full warriors of RainClan."
He went to each one, resting his muzzle on one head after the other and letting them finish the ceremony for themselves, waiting as the clan erupted into calls of the new warriors by name.
[Notes : rolling through this to let everyone react as they will so that we know what Silverstar does. Once the cheering dies down the second Ceremony of this will happen.]

Haggard blue eyes looked about the gathering of RainClan cats. There had been a lot of suffering recently, and Wasp-paw was still struggling to get a bearing on everything. He had almost lost his mother. Someone who was always there for him, someone who he had always assumed would continue to be there.
And only just earlier, she had almost lost her life trying to protect him. Just as he had joined the ranks of StarClan in his futile attempt to save her. Completely futile.
Sparrowfoot sat next to him, clearly more exhausted than he, but trying to put on an air of confidence and reassurance. It wasn't very reassuring. Was Wasp-paw worthy to even be in RainClan? After all his training, he still couldn't save his mother from the water he was supposed to be so comfortable swimming in.
He didn't realize he had leaning into his mother's flank until Sparrowfoot staggered ever so slightly from his weight. Great. He couldn't even take care of his mother on land. Skychaser would be so disappointed.
Large ears perked up at Silverstar's calling of the meeting. Judging by the state of the clan, it would not be a positive one. As the silver-furred leader began talking about the suffering that the clan had gone through, Wasp-paw began to tone it out. He didn't need a reminder of his failure.
However, he was drawn back in as Silverstar began the ever-familiar ceremony of turning apprentices to warriors. Surprise slapped him across the face once it dawned on him that he was one of the apprentices being named.
Walking forward slowly, trying to hide his exhaustion and shame, Wasp-paw joined the other two apprentices. At Silverstar's question, Wasp-paw blinked slowly. Could he defend RainClan? Clearly not from the elements. But by StarClan, he could fight. He had been fighting almost everything his whole life. The scar on his muzzle was a constant reminder of his fight with the two vixens of NightClan. Even as an apprentice, he had done fairly well. So yes. He could defend his clan. Not as a particularly strong swimmer. Not as the greatest hunter the clan had seen. But as a fighter.
"I do," he said, a hint of determination rising back up through his voice. He could do this.
And just like that, his name was no longer Wasp-paw. It was Waspstrike, a testament to his fighting abilities. He would not disappoint his clan. As Silverstar rested his head on Waspstrike's, the young warrior licked the leader's shoulder.
As the clan began chanting the names of the three new warriors, Waspstrike looked to his friend Waverunner, a crooked smile growing on his face. They really made it.

The young tom had been quiet and almost withdrawn since the whole ordeal of Rainclan's camp flooding due to the hellacious storm that rolled through. The wind had been pulled from he sails, his normally bright green gaze a bit dull and distant. The leggy tom kept close to his golden and white brother, their father also kepeing close as the group of ragged clam cats finally found dry shelter and warm food within the Tribe's cave.
Ears laid flat against his head which was pressed down against his paws, the young tom taking comfort in the closeness of he and Sunripple whole the two brothers lay in a secluded part of the cave near their clanmates. Memories rippled within his head, both recent and past, which caused a wave of fresh sadness to wash over him. Grief bubbled uncomfortably within the young tom's chest. First he hadn't been able to save his dying mother, Lizardleap, as sickness ripped her away from them, and now...
Wrenstrike...
Pain bloomed within the lanky apprentice as Wavepaw vividly remembered how it all happened. He had been trying to help Owlpaw aid a tired and new queen with her newborn kits, when everything quickly turned sour. Wrenstrike had been swimming through the rushing current, trying to fight his way to dry land as the rest of Rainclan was doing so franticly. Thinking he could help with Willowbreeze and her kits, Wavepaw quickly swam his way towards the other tom, only to collide with him. Wrenstrike's body struck something under the murky water, dragging him beneath and swiftly carrying his body away.
Wavepaw barely had time to comprehend what happened, let alone react in enough time to save him.
Green pools closed softly as Wavepaw tried to fight back another wave of grief. Just like with his mother, it didn't do the blue-gray tom any good to wallow in dispair, but the occasional nightmares that woke him up didn't help ease his mind or his heart in any way. Silverstar's voice cut through the fog surrounding the young tom as the leader called the clan together, into a ragged group with the eyes of Tribe cats watching their every moves, curious and cautious.
Pulling himself to his paws, the lanky tom made his way forwards with Sunripple by his side, ever a stone within his racing river. The familar scent of Wasp-paw invaded his nose as the Bengal quickly found a seat on Wavepaw's other side. Slowly lifting his head, the blue-gray feline glanced around in an attempt to find Owlpaw's form, which he spotted her among a large group of her family, his mentor, Gullswoop being among them.
Flickering an ear, a new spark of interest bloomed within his emerald gaze at Silverstar. Their leader was starting a ceremony, a warrior ceremony to be accurate and before he knew what was happening Wavepaw heard his own name being called by the silver coated leader as the tom stood there with his head held proudly despite the current situation. A nudge from his brother pulled the 'paw from his daze as he quickly made his way up front after hurrying behind Wasp-paw, who had also been called forwards along with Owlpaw.
Despite his depression, excited was buzzing within his tired form. Ears twitched with every word and the tip of his long tail wriggled with anticipation throughout Silverstar's speech. His new was a tired rasp, but there was strength behind it as he spoke along with the others, "I do."
Waverunner!
It was a unique name, something all his own as the newly named warrior stood there between Owlfrost and Waspstrike, all three of them taking this next step in life together. They were apprentices as they fled their flooded lands, named in a strange place among the peaceful tribe cats and they would return home to rebuild their lives as warriors of Rainclan. Chats grew around them as cats congratulated each by name, a chorus echoing within the cave. Waverunner caught the gaze of both Gullswoop, Rainsplash, Sunripple and Skychaser. Four of the most important cats within his life, let along the friends he stood beside.
Even though that shadow of misery and guilt still swamp within his lanky form, Waverunner pushed it down with pride and happiness for the time being.

He let the calls of his clanmates wash over him, adding his voice to the call of the new names, new warriors after the calamity that had come to their clan. New growth, new life and new circumstances, all these things were needed for them to keep going after they'd been flooded from their home. RainClan would recover, become stronger and better. It made him smile, and he recalled, after a look from his mother, that there was one more thing he had to do today. "Everyone! We have one more matter to take care of before we are through." And the new warriors could spend their time with their clanmates and get used to their new names. "Lilygleam stepped into deputy to fill the void left by Moonshine's passing, and although she has done admirably she has decided to step down from the position." He paused, regarding his clan. They needed this, even so far from home, they needed to see that he was keeping things as normal as possible for them, and that he wouldn't allow the void to occur again. The clan would have a deputy. He raised his voice, allowing himself to be heard over the shuffling of bodies and the comments of cats about Lilygleam's choice. "I say these words before StarClan, that the spirits of our warrior ancestors may hear and approve of my choice. The new deputy of RainClan is Emberlight." He gave the other tom a smile. "Emberlight, of all the cats I considered for this position you were the one who stuck with me the most. You are dedicated and loyal, and an ability to think beyond yourself to the clan itself as well as manage your personal affairs. Remaining apart from the clan's drama as well as understanding it is one of the things that you may someday have to use as the leader. I also feel I don't trouble you to speak openly of my thoughts. You are my choice, and I believe you will do it well." HellionGingerGhost the Undead Goddess

Emberlight "In the darkest times, hope is something you give yourself." A ceremony was a smart decision on Silverstar's part to bring some morale back into RainClan's desolate cats. The three newly-named warriors seemed both happy and stunned at their ceremony. The slightest of smiles crept along Emberlight's face. The three of them probably were tired and miserable from the long journey, but the pride and excitement was still radiating outwardly from each of their bodies.
The orange tom picked himself up to go with Skychaser to congratulate his past apprentice, but he immediately sat back down once Silverstar called for one more matter. What could it possibly be?
Amber eyes widened as he heard that Lilygleam was to be stepping down from her position as deputy. It must have been difficult to have one's mother for a deputy. StarClan knew that Emberlight and his own mother would have been an awful leader/deputy pair.
But then who would be the next deputy?
RainClan was populated with many good warriors, each of who would make good deputies to Silverstar. As Emberlight was looking around to assess who the possible deputy could be, he paused for a moment once he noticed that the other warriors were looking back at him. Why was that?
And then it hit him.
Silverstar had just said Emberlight's name. And in that same sentence, Silverstar also said the word "deputy."
Shock took over his entire expression for a good moment. But just as quickly as it had come, Emberlight composed himself and looked to Silverstar, walking forward ever so slightly, all eyes on him. "I will do everything in my power to counsel you and be a deputy worthy of RainClan's trust."

"Good. If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask me. For now enjoy this moment with your clanmates and get used to the concept. I know when it was my turn I was a little overwhelmed." He flashed a smile and finally eased into the crowd of his clan, letting everything settle and everyone find their place.
The chattering around him was soothing, and the silver tom marveled had how far he and this clan had come since he'd first started on this path. As a young deputy he had thought he wouldn't have to worry about the clan as a whole in some time, but then too soon he had leadership thrust upon him. He had faltered so much in those early days, but now, with his clan safe after a very rough few days and a new deputy in place, he felt that things would finally begin to find a normal pace once again.
