Despite the small amount of clouds passing to and fro within the sky did nothing to help the heat, and it was dreadfully muggy at the moment. Hopefully it hinted towards future rain and a break from the sweltering heat that had been occupying the valley's temperature since the begining of Greenleaf. Unreadable green pools glanced up at the sky, annoyance rippling through her. Her long black coat did her no good through the heat, and only the twitching of her nubbed tail gave away any indication of the strong emotion. Giving a slight snort, the young healer made her way quietly towards where her current patient was softly snoozing. It had been a pawfull of days since the incident with the eagles, where Dawnpaw had miraculously survived such a deadly incounter with a bird of prey. His body was healing, thought it would take some time for that hindleg of his to even put some pressure on it. Right now the worry was the young tabby tom's eyes. Ever since he had regained conciousness, Dawnpaw had lost the sense of his sight. Sandblaze kept a general diagnosis of the problem, trying to stay positive but was unsure. Ebonypaw, on the other paw, felt like there was nothing to worry about. Something told her it would return in time and that he just needed rest and medicinal care for now. Rabbitfur had told her to follow her instinct, and she would do just that. Bringing her pile of herbs over to where Dawnpaw lay the black she-cat sat down her bundles next to the small bike that she had set there mere seconds before. Midday was slowly easing in and it was time for the young apprentice's check up. "Dawnpaw, I brought you some food." Ebonypaw's tone was sharp as always but proper as well. Despite her tone, the young she-cat did care and worry for the well being of all her clanmates, and Dawnpaw was her first case on her own. Though Sandblaze had cared for him initially, it was a test to see how she had grown within the last moons under his tutalage. And if course he was there if she needed him. "Tell me how you are feeling?" Ebonypaw asked, lowering her haunches to sit near the tabby as he stirred at her greeting, probably breaking him from a nice dream. Those mossy orbs of hers flickered with curiosity as she fixated on his face for the moment, wondering about the situation with his eyes. GingerGreenleaf 7 - A light midday mist is welcomed as it provides a short relief from the sweltering heat of the day.

Smells and sounds were all he could grasp ahold of right now. Even then, it was hard to focus in on one thing. On top of the overwhelming stimulation that came from the scents and sounds of Stoneclan's medicine den, Dawnpaw's pain was also messing with his ability to focus.
As time had passed, the pain had dulled, but it also had begun to spread throughout his entire body. A dull ache that came from constantly lying on his side, from being unable to eat much, and from a pounding in his head that refused to cease. Maybe once that pounding stopped, he would be able to see again.
Dawnpaw was having a hard time focusing on anything, causing him to visibly jerk at Ebonypaw's approach, followed by a wince of pain. Had his eyes been opened or closed while he had be laying there? At the moment, it was hard to tell. He didn't have a solid grasp on anything at the moment. Just confusion and pain.
The injured apprentice blinked a few times, a sad effort to blink away the throbbing. Of course it didn't work, but at least now he knew that his eyes were open for sure. "Thank you," he rasped at the medicine cat apprentice's offer of food, surprising himself by the scratchy quality of his voice. He was awfully thirsty as well.
"I feel..." He didn't know how to put it. Dawnpaw was no master with words. All he knew was that he hurt. What could he tell Ebonypaw that would help her to help him? "Ouched." Great choice of words, Dawnpaw.
She was probably more aware of how his leg was doing than he was, both because she could see it and assess it, and also because she was actually trained to deal with it. She didn't need information on that. What she needed to know was what was going on that no one could see, not even a medicine cat.
"It feels like there's a big heavy rock inside my head that rolls around every time I move. And...I still see nothing." Taking a bite of his food, Dawnpaw chewed slowly, swiveling his head around in the hopes of seeing something. There was nothing. Only occasional spots of warm red appeared before him. Probably just his imagination.

Ebonypaw, Livin' in ruins of a palace within my dreams Pale pools watched the younger tom as he moved about to find the prey she brought him. Her mind was quickly going over things she could think of when it came to what she could possibly do to aid the young cat into being able to see again. Of course, she knew at this point it was mostly time he needed.
And perhaps a gift from Starclan.
Dawnpaw's leg was healing nicely, and several of the wounds he gained from beaks, talons and rocks were already healed to completion. It would take a bit more time for his leg to regain any strength lost, and even then a bit more for him to walk around normally without a limp.
It was his head, his sight that was truly the problem here. He had said before that his head pounded painfully, like rats dancing about his brain. It was obviously bothering his to the point where he had a hard time keeping food down, or even finding the need to eat. Ebonypaw was pleased with the fact that he didn't seem bothered to take of a bite of the mouse.
His discription of pain was nearly amusing, the fact that he was feeling 'ouched' as he called it, but she knew he was having a hard time explaining what was happening due to the fact he simply didn't know what was happening. His fear scent was often there, though he tried to hide it under a brave face and his ever positive attitude.
Ebonypaw was determined to get him fixed up so he could return to his duties as a warrior apprentice.
Something caught her attention, however, as the black feline watched Dawnpaw's eyes with interest. Quickly standing and making her way towards the tabby tom, the young healer flickered her nub tail, "Stop moving." She said in that sharp rasp, not unkind but not exactly anything less than a demand either.
He froze, as if his life depended on the two words that fell from the healer's mouth just seconds before. Moving a large paw, Ebonypaw hooked it under his chin to lift his face, near eye level with hers. Pale green pools stared into the eyes of Dawnpaw, narrowing them as she tried to spot what she had seen only moments ago.
A bright excitement flooded her gaze as she noticed the pupils within Dawnpaw's orbs shifting and shivering, attempting to let light in. Attempting to see!
"Dawnpaw, I want you to focus on trying to see. Don't hurt yourself but try and force your mind to picture the world around you." She said sternly, like a cranky old elder was permanently stuck within the body of a young she-cat. But despite her ill-temper and sharp tongue, she had a good heart.

At Ebonypaw's command to stop moving, Dawnpaw froze. The young apprentice flinched ever so slightly when he felt the touch of the medicine cat apprentice's paws on his face. What was she doing? Fear coursed through Dawnpaw's entire body. Did she see something bad? Was she about to tell him that he was dying?
"Dawnpaw, I want you to focus on trying to see. Don't hurt yourself but try and force your mind to picture the world around you."
Confused by her prompt, Dawnpaw squinted his eyes, trying to focus on something that wasn't there. It was incredibly frustrating. But if Dawnpaw was to be a true warrior of StoneClan, he had to learn how to get through all adversity. This was just one of his trials.
Next, he focused on the blackness around him. Still nothing. Being a determined warrior of StoneClan sure was hard.
He had to approach this from a different angle.
With all the focusing power he could muster, Dawnpaw focused on the red spots dotting around his vision, hoping to StarClan they would turn into something he could actually see.
The red spots began to expand and shift. Now they were not only red, but some shades of white began to pour in as well. And some faint outlines. Was that Ebonypaw's face which was incredibly close to his?
"Ebonypaw... You're blurry, but you're there!" The faint shapes were not a lot, but it was more than what he had. Never in his life had Dawnpaw been so excited. So hopeful.
But the shapes didn't morph anymore. They remained blurry. "I can't be a good warrior if everything is blurry..." Dawnpaw wrested his head from Ebonypaw's paws, hanging it down.

Ebonypaw, Livin' in ruins of a palace within my dreams Pale green pools held fast, staring into Dawnpaw's face as if her harsh stare alone could grow back the young tom's vision. She could see the way his pupils shook, wiggling with each dilation when they moved, attempting to force light into the pale golden color of his eyes.
Though she didn't outwardly show it, the young she-cat's heart was hammering with hope within her breast. She was stubborn and determined to prove that the tabby tom's sight would return. Something within that beating organ of hers was telling her not to give up on him or his eyes.
He had had a horrible accident with a raptor that many probably wouldn't have survived were they in Dawnpaw's position, but he had fought through all the other injuries and threats to his life. He could fight through this and return to training as a warrior.
Ebonypaw wasn't going to let him fail.
"Since when did you become so pessimistic? You are starting to sound like Paintedpaw." She was goading him in that sharp tone of hers, sure, but she was also trying to get that upbeat personality flowing through the carefree tom once more. His spirit had been frightened by the whole ordeal, but she wasn't going to give up on him.
He was improving, that much was for certain. Just that small amount of will and attempt had proven that much as his gaze grew from black with spots to blurred figures around him. If Dawnpaw could make out her large, fluffy form despite the unclear resolution, then he could push past and form the whole picture.
"Rest for a second," Ebonypaw said in her sharp rasp after a second, pulling her paw away from his chin to return it to the ground. The nub tail of her wriggled behind her as she continued to watch him like a hawk, similar to that that had attacked him. "I want you to try again."
It would be easier this time, it had to be. She was certain that if he kept it up then he would be able to see again within minutes or seconds. He had already come so far. "You can somewhat see me now, so picture how I look and focus as much as you can on that image and on seeing me in front of you."
You can do it Dawnpaw, I believe in you.

At Ebonypaw's command, Dawnpaw closed his eyes and took a few shallow breaths. Wait no, she said to rest. Dawnpaw focused on his breaths, controlling them. Making them deeper, filling his lungs up with air on each one. I wonder if this is how birds fly. They just float on air.
Focus.
Dawnpaw opened his eyes again to see a bunch of blurry shapes. He kept breathing. He kept putting them into focus. Ignoring the pain that pervaded throughout his leg. Ignoring the pulsating pressure behind his eyes. He was going to be a warrior of StoneClan. No one could stop him. Not even StarClan.
He continued on like this for what felt like a lifetime.
And then it happened. Green poured into his vision. Well, it was more like two green patches. Wait, no! Those were two green eyes. Ebonypaw's two green eyes!
Stars, she was close. Dawnpaw's nose flushed pink with embarrassment. She had been this close to him the entire time, and he must have looked like a fool. Oh well, he was a fool that could see colors again!
"Ebonypaw! Your eyes look like grass. Green grass!"
Slowly, the concerned yet somehow stern face of the medicine cat apprentice came into full focus. Only a few spots danced in his vision now. They would depart eventually. Ghost the Undead Goddess220 words

Ebonypaw, Livin' in ruins of a palace within my dreams Everything around the two young cats seemed to drain out of focus as the large, black feline gave all her attention towards the young tabby. While she remained calm, keeping her breathing steady, the young healer couldn't help the excitement of possibilities worming it's way under her long coat.
She even had to force her breaths to be even to control the beating of her heart. She had to stay calm and collected, Dawnpaw was already emotional enough as it was.
Ears flickering forwards, those pale green pools of Ebonypaw bore into Dawnpaw's form as she watched him attempt to relax, breathe and try to see once more. Something within her belly, some emotion or feeling or notion of just knowing, something told the young healer that sight would return to the pale golden hues of striped tom.
Delight founds it's way through the larger she-cat's fluffy form at Dawnpaw's exclamation of joy. Even her normally unreadable pale pools flickered with a sliver of pure happiness and relief before they once again slipped away unto nothing.
You did good, Ebonypaw~
It was a quiet noise, a voice only for her ears to hear as if it were a singular thought within her own mind. Mintleaf's voice broke off with her signature giggle, Starclan obviously giving their blessing upon Stoneclan and the two young apprentices as Dawnpaw began to completely regain his eyesight.
"Good Dawnpaw." Ebonypaw finally mewed in that sharp tone, pulling herself up from a seating position to her paws as she glanced over the young stripped tom's head once more, pleased that his eyesight followed her movements. "Get some rest and I'll check on you again here in a little bit."
She was sure he was growing weary, working on such limitations could be exhausting both mentally and physically. However, the rest of his healing would come in time but for now they could both breathe easily knowing that his vision would not leave him just yet.
