Description:
Not very stocky in build, Panthercall is nothing all that intimidating. He has a build that is typical for toms of his particular age range. And, while not visible from looks alone, Panthercall does have abit of muscle built up in his legs. This allows him to move a little quicker than some and gives him a small boost in the strength of his paw swipes. He tries to keep away from fighting as much as he can so this aids him more with hunting versus his fighting technique.
Panthercall has a short coat that is a jet black color and oval green eyes. Sleek and shiny, no one would question whether this tom grooms himself or not. Because despite being the coniving tom that he is, he always takes the time to make sure he at least looks decent. Good looks aren't everything but they help to make a proper first impression in his book. Afterall, who would listen to a cat that couldn't even take care of themselves let alone anyone else?
Description Summary:
A short furred, black tom with green eyes.
Personality:
Panthercall can come across as very charming and debonair when you first meet him. His use of words is very fluid, thought out, and astute. Unfortunately for other cats, Panthercall uses this to his complete advantage. If he can get another cat to follow him or even just do something for him, he will exploit that opportunity to the full extent. He is the sort who would offer apprentices a reward if they did something for him then turn around and not have anything for them in the end. Manipulating and using others is something he honestly takes pride in doing. Why do something yourself when you can convince others to? So he is not an individual that should be trusted.
To top off his deceitful side, Panthercall is a clever individual. He is almost always calculating what to do next and what precautions to take. He believes that not being prepared can be the most mouse-brained thing a cat can do. With all the things that could potentially go wrong, why even risk it? This being said, he's always observing the area and cats around him. Even when you think he's not paying attention, the tom is probably alert to what you are doing. And while some might think this is an advantage he has, his constant alertness actually poses a bit of a problem for him. He has a lot of troubles getting his thoughts to settle and allow him to sleep. Panthercall is usually lucky enough to get an hour or two in before he stirs again. Due to this, it's not uncommon for the tom to take small cat naps throughout the day so he doesn't totally wear himself down.
History:
Shadowpetal -- Mother -- Black and white she-cat -- Deceased Lightningclan Elder (87 moons)
Darkfoot -- Father -- Black Tom -- Deceased Lightningclan Elder (88 moons)
Larkcry -- Mentor -- Brown Tabby Tom -- Deceased Lightningclan Elder (90 moons)
Mousetail -- Former Apprentice -- Small Brown She-cat -- Warrior (30 moons)
Panthercall was born an only kit to Shadowpetal and Darkfoot, two Lightningclan warriors. Shadowpetal was a gentle and soft spoken she-cat, a complete opposite of Darkfoot. Darkfoot was a fiercely loyal and outspoken tom. He was brutally honest and it wasn't uncommon for him to insult his fellow clanmates for being mouse-brained. So no one quite understood how the two had gotten on well enough to result in offspring. There were many rumors that flew about the pair from Darkfoot forcing her to be with him to him manipulating her just to get offspring. All far-fetched ideas that the clan felt might explain the pairing. But Shadowpetal would deny being forced into anything and claimed she truly loved her loud mate. So those rumors simmered down a few moons after Panthercall's birth.
Panthercall's kithood was filled with love and affection from his mother and lots of stories from his father. Darkfoot would tell Panthercall all sorts of stories about hunting and fighting. Stories of great clan "heroes." Then he would go on and on about how Panthercall would be great one day and lead the clan himself. It wasn't so much he was trying to beat the idea into his head at that age but more or less a suggestion on what to wish for as he grew. These suggestions quickly changed to something different when Panthercall became an apprentice.
Shortly after being given to the mentor Larkcry, Darkfoot went on like a war path. He was constantly badgering Panthercall to do better and that he could never become leader acting like he was. He would even go as far as butting into Panthercall's training sessions unannounced. It was all quite annoying to both apprentice and mentor so they would try to sneak out without Darkfoot knowing. Those were the only times they could get in some decent training. This is also around the time Panthercall learned to be persuasive and manipulative. He would convince other cats to keep his father distracted so he could train. Darkfoot was clueless that it was all a rouse.
After many long moons of dealing with his father breathing down his neck, Panthercall was named a warrior. Panthercall hoped this would make his father calm down but Darkfoot kept up his constant criticism. He wouldn't follow Panthercall around nearly as much but he turned into his harshest critic. Panthercall did everything he could to keep away from his father due to this. He hardly spent any time in camp because of this. This is where he began to work on and really develop his way with words. He'd take different cats out on patrol or hunts with him to try and sway them into liking him. There were a few duds he couldn't convince of anything, however, so he took this as a challenge.
At 19 moons, Panthercall was given a young she-cat as an apprentice. Mousepaw was a small brown cat who was quite cowardly compared to others her age. Panthercall made it his goal to make this young apprentice not fear anything. Unfortunately, he'd get constant "advice" from his father when he made training plans. So Panthercall would take the she-cat out in the eaves of the morning to avoid this. The young she-cat was hard for the tom to teach at first, her fear making her clumsy and slow. But once she began to make good decisions and he would praise her, the she-cat gained confidence and with that came special skill. At her warrior ceremony, the black tom had managed to teach her to have confidence in herself and become a whole new cat. Mousetail.
Several seasons after his naming, his parents were getting to the time for Starclan to call them home. So it was no surprise when his mother passed on at 87 moons old in the Elder's den. While saddened to see his kind mother go, he was far from upset about his father's passing a moon later. Especially when his last words were all total insults towards Panthercall. Without hesitation, Panthercall went on to tell everyone how relieved he was to be able to mingle in camp and not have to run from the old tom's criticism. This earned him many angry looks and made some dislike him because of his disrespect towards the deceased elder.
Now, older and more cunning, Panthercall has had the chance to smooth things over with his kin. They might not totally enjoy his company but they tolerate it. Which is enough for him, for now. So now he is trying to make a name for himself while unknowingly turning into the cat his father wanted him to be.
Other:
I originally wanted him in Nightclan because I know he would fit there. But me and Abyss were talking about it. Rainclan and Lightning clan need more cats. And every clan has it's oddball with power hungry intentions.
Further Development:
11-7-19
Soooo, I'm starting to delve deeper with this character. I've figured that he was mentally abused by his father to the point that he was suicidal for a long time when he was younger. So discussing his past is a very touchy point. In fact, it will make him start to feel highly insecure like he did back when.
After a run-in with Batear, he is having suicidal thoughts again and begins to wonder if the whole clan would care if he was gone. There is now an internal debate going on in his head about whether to leave and even stay a clan cat.
