Wide-eyed and small, Thistlepaw made her way through the entrance of the apprentice's den. It was her first night as an apprentice, so that meant it was her first time sleeping in a new home. The warm smell of milk was replaced by a more musty smell, and the sounds of mothers gently cooing over their kits was replaced by quiet conversations. Thistlepaw looked around at the cats resting around her. Even though they were not yet warriors, she still could see their rippling muscles as they stretched and moved around. Her narrow eyes darting around, Thistlepaw searched for an open spot. One nest in the center of the den seemed to be the least occupied by scents, so Thistlepaw sighed and walked over to it and lay down. Thistlepaw was both young and small for her age, so the nest seemed almost abnormally large on her. The small apprentice settled down and started to bite at her much-too-long claws, trying her best at her new method of trimming them down. Don't draw attention to yourself. Why was she so afraid of the others? They were her equals. Was it intimidation, or was she simply uncomfortable. Thistlepaw could not even tell herself why she was afraid of attention from her fellow apprentices, but the feeling was overwhelming. No. No point in being afraid of the cats who would be her clanmates for life. Thistlepaw raised her head from trimming her nails, looked around the den, and inhaled sharply to address the others... And faltered. Frustrated by her uncharacteristic shyness, Thistlepaw turned back down to her nails. Friends will come in time.

Lightningpaw trotted into the apprentices’ den, her pale silver tabby pelt coated in dirt spots. She had spent most of the day in the tunnels with her mentor, learning the routes to take that would lead her all over the territory, learning how to find her way to safety if she ever took a wrong turn and got lost, or if there was ever a cave in that blocked a normal route and she had to find a new way out. There was so much more to being a tunneler than she had originally thought there was, but she loved every moment she spent down there, learning their mysteries that so few cats ever did. Any cat could chase a rabbit, but she took pride in the fact that some of the Clan was too afraid to venture into the tunnels while she wasn't scared at all. Owlmind had sure put her through her paces today. She padded to her nest before she thought to shake herself off, and unfortunately didn't think at all about how her nest neighbors would appreciate being showered with clumps of dirt from her pelt before she went ahead and did so. There were a couple annoyed hisses as she flopped unceremoniously into her nest and began to groom herself of the dirt that hadn't been shaken off. She paused after a moment as she registered a new pelt in one of the nests next to hers, ears picking. Then she remembered the apprentice ceremony from earlier in the day. Grooming forgotten for now, she sat back up, “Hey there! Thistlepaw, right? Excited to start training? Oh, I'm Lightningpaw, if you didn't know.” She didn't imagine the current kits knew anything about her. It wasn't like she had really done anything particularly notable in her life just yet, but she was determined that that would change sooner rather than later. Ginger

As Thistlepaw continued to bite at her claws, she felt something on her back. Ignoring it, Thistlepaw continued to groom. However, the uncomfortable feeling on her back kept droning on. Thistlepaw's eyes narrowed, and she whipped her head around to see the source of whatever was being flung on her. Her eyes widened in surprise at the sight of a dirt-covered silver tabby shaking dirt off of her pelt. Thistlepaw opened her mouth to hiss, but it was immediately cut short by the sight of the other apprentices looking equally annoyed. To her surprise, Thistlepaw actually found herself letting out a light laugh. It was nice, and she felt some of her earlier inhibitions begin to leave her. The tabby apprentice soon noticed that the silver tabby had turned around to look at her, barraging her with questions. Thistlepaw stammered as she answered. "Y-yeah I'm Thistlepaw." She paused for a moment, a little bit intimidated by Lightningpaw's energy. "I think I'm ready for training." With a smile, she added, "I'm not sure if my mentor is ready to deal with me quite yet." Thistlepaw's eyes flashed with humor, yet even that humor was rooted in her deeply-rooted insecurity about her ability to become on par with her fellow apprentices. Drawing her attention back to the state of Lightningpaw's pelt, Thistlepaw poked a claw at a large clump of dirt on the silver cat, flicking it off. Windpaw 12 Moons, LightningClan I hear the wind across the plain, A sound so strong, that calls my name The patrol was late on their return back into the quiet camp of Lightningclan. Though it didn't seem to bother the free spirited apprentice as she stumbled upon not only her paws but that of the massive rabbit she had managed to snag.
It nearly rivaled her small, lithe form. The limp creature's long hindlegs pulling it's weight down and bumping into the pale tabby's front legs.
With her tail waving happily behind her, the quiet feline gave a small purr as she pressed clumsily against her mentor's flank, the bond she had with Bluefrost growing stronger with each moon under her wing.
"Go see if there are any hungry apprentices." Bluefrost gave an amused chuckle before flickering her tail over Windpaw's ear to dismiss the young she-cat.
Giving a small bounce, happiness quickly twinkled within the pale tabby's pale pools as a muffled purr rose within her chest. Attempting to affectionately pressing her nose against Bluefrost's shoulder, Windpaw gave a quick salutations before stumbling off towards the Apprentice's Den.
Excitement bubbled within the pale feline's belly when she realized how fresh her sister's scent was as it led into the warm den underground. Of course, Windpaw always got excited when it came to her siblings, or her family in general.
Tripping over a hindleg from the rabbit still within her jaw, which was growing tired at this point, when tumbling into the opening where the rest of the apprentices were curled within their nests with a soft thump.
Windpaw quickly bounced to her paws, ignoring the groans of other young cats with a flicker of her ear. A loud purr rose from her chest to inform others that she was okay, a smile still upon her maw.
Lightningpaw!
A small squeal parted Windpaw's mouth as she moved to softly press her cheek against her sister's neck in an affectionate hello, notcing that she was a bit grimy. Probably from tunneling.
Windpaw was not a tunneler, that she knew. The young she-cat couldn't even imagine being underground and away from the wide open spaces. Away from the wind. She had a hard enough time being stuck in a tree when that fox attacked.
Turning her pale green pools from Lightninpaw Windpaw's gaze ran over to where Thistlepaw sat, looking young among the older apprentices.
Hello!
It was a friendly, mute greeting as Windpaw didn't speak, but the light within her gaze was enough to show what she was thinking as it ran through her mind. Not to mention she raised her tail in a wave to aid with her own way of communication.

Thistlepaw initially seemed a little shy or something, but Lightningpaw purred when she joked about her mentor not being ready for her. A little confidence could go a long way. “Well if that's the case then you're definitely ready for training,” her whiskers twitched in amusement. When the younger she-cat reached over to flick some dirt off her silver pelt, her ears flicked back in slight embarrassment, but it was quickly squashed by the question that followed. Ears flicking forward again, Lightningpaw’s eyes brightened visibly, her tail twitching with excitement as she puffed herself up a bit, quite proud of what she was learning, “That's cause I'm learning to be a tunneler. You know, all those stories the elders like to tell about the old WindClan cats that used to run around in the tunnels ages and ages ago back in some far away territory. Brightpool is teaching some cats how to do that again, and there's a lot more to it than you'd think. It's really fun, and sometimes a little scary, but also exciting!” A quiver went through her and she giggled, “But that's why I'm so dirty. Lotsa dirt in the tunnels you know, since they're made of dirt. Obviously.” She glanced over Thistlepaw for a moment, assessing, “You know, you're on the smaller end… I bet you'd make a good tunneler. Big cats don't fit so we'll down there. If you were up to the challenge anyway.” Her eyes sparkled with a friendly challenge. Then her attention was completely distracted when her sister all but tumbled into the den, eliciting further groans from other apprentices already trying to sleep. “Hey Windpaw,” she purred affectionately as her sister offered her silent greeting, “Thistlepaw here is joining us for her first night in the apprentices’ den! I was just telling her how awesome tunneling is.” Ginger Ghost the Undead Goddess

A tunneler? Crawling through the underground of Lightningclan's territory, memorizing all of the hidden paths, resurfacing from the ground and catching other cats by surprise. Thistlepaw closed her eyes for a moment to try to imagine the absolute darkness of the underground. It was impossible to imagine, so Thistlepaw let out a light huff and opened her eyes to look back at Lightningpaw, her ears piquing at the word "challenge." "I'm up for any challenge," Thistlepaw said defiantly. The thought of being underground both terrified and thrilled Thistlepaw. Her knowledge of the small tunnels would be the only thing between life and death, and Thistlepaw trusted her wits. But maybe not that much. Lightningpaw seemed awfully enthusiastic about such a dangerous task. Was she masking a fear of it, or was she just that much of an optimistic cat? Thistlepaw assumed that the probable answer was the latter one based off of Lightningpaw's bubbly manner of speaking. I admire her enthusiasm about tunneling.
Before Thistlepaw could add anything else, a silver tabby stumbled into the den with a rather large rabbit trailing behind her. It was almost comical to see. While other apprentices hissed at she-cat, Thistlepaw instead let out a breathy chuckle. As Thistlepaw locked eyes with Windpaw, the grey she-cat's entire body almost seemed to reverberate with warmth and friendliness. This must be Windpaw, the one who doesn't speak much. As a silent return of Windpaw's greeting, Thistlepaw blinked slowly and flicked her tail. After her greeting, Thistlepaw turned her attention to Windpaw's catch, nodding to show how impressed she was. "That is one huge rabbit! How did you get it?"

Windpaw 12 Moons, LightningClan I hear the wind across the plain, A sound so strong, that calls my name While the pale tabby admired how strongly her sister felt about tunneling and crawling around under ground, Windpaw could not help the way her green gaze widened with slight fear.
The tunnels absolutely terrified her.
The young feline simply couldn't imagine being down there without the feeling of her namesake brushing through her short fur, or the way it felt to run through the wide open moors with the grass tickling her stomach.
Lightningpaw could have her tunnels.
Ears swiveled as well as attention as Windpaw glanced first at Thistlepaw then at the impressive rabbit she had managed to catch not that long ago. Feeling the warmth of pride swell within her chest, the pale tabby was still in awe of the fact that she managed to catch the thing.
Tilting her head to the side, the young feline held a look upon her face as if she was thinking... Which of course, she was, thinking of a way to explain how she managed to catch her piece of fresh kill.
There was an ear flick, then pale green pools lit up quickly as she bounced softly towards the rabbit. Using her pale paws to softly pat the ground next to the hare, before parting her maw to speak.
"I spooked it!" Her voice was gentle and soft but loud enough to be audible, and it was followed by a soft purr and a giddy expression.
The silly thing practically jumped into my paws!
The thought scrolled through her mind but it wasn't voiced as the Lightningclan apprentice gave a soft purr. Truth be told, it was pure instinct that cause Windpaw to act swiftly enough to kill the creature, she was just as nearly spooked as the hare had been.
Hungry? Though she didn't say it, the question was quite obvious within Windpaw's gaze as she looked first at Thistlepaw then to Lightningpaw, flicking her tail to offer a share of her fresh kill.

Lightningpaw grinned at Thistlepaw as she responded to her challenge with confidence, “I hope to see you down there eventually then. After you’ve had some training maybe we can race and see who can get across the territory faster using only the tunnels.” Her pale gaze sparkled again at the possibility. How fun would that be? But Thistlepaw had caught sight of her sister’s catch and the conversation shifted then. Lightningpaw purred at Thistlepaw’s awe, puffing up once more in pride for her sibling’s accomplishments just as much as for her own. Flopping comically onto her side, Lightningpaw’s green eyes glittered mischievously as she teased, “You spooked it? So it was an accident?” She giggled softly, flicking Windpaw with her tail affectionately, “You must have had to act pretty fast to catch it if you weren’t even ready.” Her gaze shifted to the plump rabbit as her sister flicked her tail, an offer to share. “Can we?” Lightningpaw wriggled and stood, dragging the fresh kill closer so it would be easier for them all to share before plopping back into her nest. “We should take some of the rabbit fur to line Blazefang’s nest. I bet he’d like a nice soft nest when his leg is hurting,” Lightningpaw suggested offhand, not wasting anymore time in digging in and enjoying her sister’s lucky catch. Glancing over at Thistlepaw, she tilted head head curiously, “What are you most looking forward to learning? Battle moves? Building your endurance? How to catch rabbits? How to catch birds? All about the territory? About the other Clans?” She thought of Mudpelt and wrinkled her nose, “The warrior code?” Her uncle was so obsessed with the warrior code it was like all he ever talked about. If the warrior code was a cat she was sure Mudpelt would be their mate faster than you could say 'mouse'. Ginger Ghost the Undead Goddess Fawn thought you'd wanna see that Mudpelt mention x'D

And even though it's hard, and I may struggle through it all you may see me stumble, but you will never see me fall. Thistlepaw chuckled at Windpaw's and Lightningpaw's affectionate squabbling. It was refreshing to see that growing up did not mean losing one's sense of youth and fun. Even though Windpaw was a capable hunter -- as proven by this massive kill -- she was still lighthearted and kind.
Thistlepaw felt her mouth water as Lightningpaw dragged the rabbit over to them. The young tabby had forgotten how hungry she was in all of the excitement of her big day. As she took a large bite out of the rabbit, she listened carefully to Lightningpaw's thoughtful suggestion. "That's a great idea," she coughed out, a little bit of fur flying out of her mouth as she answered. Truth be told, Thistlepaw had never eaten rabbit before since she was such a small cat and never had the opportunity to share. It was much hairier than the small mice she was so used to.
Grinning at Lightningpaw's barrage of questions, Thistlepaw cleared her throat and thought for a moment. What was she most excited for? She had never really thought about it, only ever considering running. I guess running is part of being a warrior. That had to count, but it didn't sound as cool as all the activities Lightningpaw suggested. Might as well be honest.
"I struggle with the length of my claws, so I really want to just be able to run like the other warriors." Wow. That sounded awfully cheesy. Thistlepaw didn't want the others to think she was super cliche. So, quickly, she added: "I would love to be able to catch some rabbits as big as this one.". It was the truth. Thistlepaw would love to be able to chase down something this massive and fast, catching it and being able to sink her teeth into it, knowing that it was only herself who had caught it.
With a slow blink, Thistlepaw looked at the two sisters. Curiosity caused her ears to perk up as she asked, "What is it that you guys love about being apprentices? You must know so much!" Thistlepaw 6 Moons || LightningClan || She-Cat

Windpaw 12 Moons, LightningClan I hear the wind across the plain, A sound so strong, that calls my name At the mention of their uncle, Blazefang, the young feline gave a small squeak of affection, effectively agreeing with her sister about taking him some rabbit fur. The young feline absolutely adored each of her family members, and a familiar warmth flooded her pale gaze as she thought of another.
Cloudyfeather!
The name floated through her head but the gaze she gave Lightningpaw was enough for her to know who she was thinking about. The permanent queen of Lightningclan would probably love some rabbit fur to warm her nest.
Windpaw flicked the tip of her tail as she watched her sister drag the large rabbit over for the three of them to share. That small flame of pride burning within her chest once more at the fact that she managed to snag such a catch... even if it was an accident.
The pale tabby was enjoying a warm bite as questions for the new apprentice tumbled out of Lightningpaw's mouth in an excited tone. Windpaw couldn't help as her pale green eyes moved rapidly back and forth between the two, finally swallowing as a purr rose seconds after.
The quiet apprentice found Thistlepaw's single answer to be rather adorable, as well as relatable. After all, Windpaw's favorite thing was to race alongside her namesake as her paws carried her through the moorlands of their territory.
Excitement wriggled through her lithe form as she thought about the simple idea, the free spirit within her begging to soar with ever chance she got. Not to mention it was delightful to meet another cat with similar interest.
"Racing the wind!" Windpaw's soft voice was present once more, her words echoing the thought within her head as her maw parted. Pale green eyes were bright with fondness of the element, and glittering with the joy of running through the open grasses.
She was definitely the runner of the family, of the four siblings there was a defining position for each them. Lightningpaw had the tunnels, Windpaw to the grasslands, even Thunderpaw and Sleetpaw had their own comfort among Lightningclan.
