Done hanging out with Maplebrook for now Hawkchaser decided to make his way over to the medicine cat den. He hadn't been inside in what seemed like ages despite the fact it was where the tom's brother resided. Instead the bulky white warrior stepped inside allowing his dark orbs to locate the tom. "It's been a while Falconstorm, why don't you get out of here and come hunting with me?" He spoke letting his thick damp pelt dry for a moment. It wasn't raining now. Well not as badly as earlier, it was more like a hazy mist now in which the liquid crystals that hung in the air were attracted to clinging to his pelt. In fact his paws had become discolored to the same brown that patched his pelt only without the tabby markings.
Truthfully the tom was glad he wasn't a medicine cat like his brother finding himself thinking that he would be bored out of his mind and that wasn't exactly "fun" for him. He hoped his sibling wouldn't put up to much of a fight in coming out with him. For some reason finding it slightly funny imagining him dragging Falconstorm around, a purr of amusement rising in his chest.
He'd been reorganizing the herbs and making a list of the things they were short of or running out of entirely. He'd have to go gathering, and to his pleasure most of the herbs he needed he'd have to go into StoneClan territory in order to find. One of the best things about being a medicine cat was that he could go wherever he needed to find herbs, at least in small amounts. He usually stuck to the borderlands, just to keep things from becoming hostile. And if he were to encounter another medicine cat or their apprentice, he had no problem offering a trade for one herb to another as needed. He knew they had to work together to keep their clans healthy, which had once sent him seeking catmint during the height of the greencough epidemic. That particular excursion was one he could barely remember for how exhausted he'd been. He did remember Herondive helping him regather the herbs when his body gave out and he slid down a slope, sending the herbs everywhere.
Thinking of her made him smile, and he needed that bright spot to remind him why he did his task, why he was still here. A medicine cat helped the sick, delivered kits, tended injuries, and sometimes was a sounding board for young cats in distress. He had to carry on, because it was the only way he could still see Herondive, and she was the entire reason he kept moving forward. No other promise would keep him, and his belief in StarClan was shaky at best after the epidemic had hit so hard in TreeClan especially.
So he was startled when his brother popped into the medicine den. He set down the herbs he'd been sorting and turned to face the other tom, a bright smile on his face. "Hawkchaser!" He was actually very pleased to see his sibling and came over to headbutt him warmly. "It has been awhile, how are you?" He'd been so deep into his work he hadn't thought to check on his siblings, other than to note that they hadn't perished to greencough and taken a chunk of his heart with them. And he wanted to go hunting.
The smile grew bigger. Finally! Someone wanted to do something with him that wasn't related to his being the Medicine Cat. "Absolutely. Hold on a moment while I make sure these herbs aren't going to scatter everywhere." He rushed about, diligently storing each herb where it belonged before coming to stand next to his sibling. "Lets go."
He was grateful when his brother came over to him lightly pushing his head against his shoulder in greeting and a smile shown across the tom's muzzle. As he saw the eagerness and happiness in his brother's eyes. Before his brother spun around began working again.
"Absolutely. Hold on a moment while I make sure these herbs aren't going to scatter everywhere."
All of the leaves that seemed scattered across the floor already were soon neatly tucked away in what he could only assume was there rightful place. Allowing the warrior's sibling to come back to standing alongside him. With the words "Lets go." seeming to fly out of the medicine cat's maw.
To think he had been silent this whole time so far just so he could nod speaking as he exited into the foggy camp and towards the camp exit. "Me? I'm fine. What about you? Has life driven you crazy yet?" the last little bit had been mentioned in a teasing manner allowing his dark eyes to flicker from Falconstorm to what was ahead of him.
