Kindleflare dutifully followed the two black shapes moving through the darkness before her. Was it a little selfish that she'd asked her siblings, Shadewhisker and Nightstep, to accompany her on the journey to meet the other medicine cats? Perhaps. But since becoming sole medicine cat of LightningClan, Kindleflare found she craved any and all forms of comfort. Having her siblings nearby certainly qualified, especially knowing the two were far more than capable warriors. Her ginger tail waved slowly behind her as she ducked her head against the breeze. It stirred her whiskers almost nonstop, carrying with it an uplifting freshness.
Briefly, her mind wandered to the pending medicine cat meeting. Did the other medicine cats have anything to share? Kindleflare had nothing of importance. Would it be a rapid meeting, with little preliminary interaction? The medicine cat ranks had lost two of their more... Rigid members recently. With a brief flutter of hope, Kindleflare found herself considering a meeting with less tension than in the past. The small optimistic smile that had spread over her features soon dissipated as the ginger and white she-cat's mind drifted toward what StarClan might have to say to her. Had she served them well? Or was she lacking?
The thought of disappointing her ancestors nearly stole her breath away, and the timid she-cat's mind flitted to her brother. She'd seen Flameshadow upon visiting the Moon Tree last. He'd been so proud of her, grinning and telling her the medicine cat label suited her. What if, now that Rookfrost was gone, she'd started tripping up? What if StarClan realized their mistake, and Kindleflare was forced to face the pitied gaze of her brother this time. She didn't want to see that; she didn't think her heart would be able to take it. Please.. N-Not you too, Flameshadow... She begged silently.
Ginger ears flicked up as the two sets of pawsteps before her slowed. Amber eyes took in the familiar surroundings, and she ducked passed her siblings to take the lead. She moved to the mouth of the cavern, jaws parting to test the air. Nothing but that same freshness lingered, leaving the shy she-cat to turn back to Nightstep and Shadewhisker with a grateful smile. "Looks... Like we are the f-first ones here... We can just... Sit I guess.." She trailed off uncertainly, peeking up at her two more confident siblings. Nightstep offered her an encouraging smile, and Shadewhisker brushed her shoulder gently with her tail.
Deep b-breaths. She thought to herself silently. |

Falconstorm34 MOONS, MEDICINE CAT APPRENTICE OF TREECLAN This wasn't his first time to Moon Tree. He'd been an escort before. But this was his first time coming as a Medicine Cat, and the sight still awed him. The journey didn't seem to take as long as when he'd simply been an escort, but perhaps that was because his mind had always been on the task at hand rather than wandering as it was now.
So much was changing for him. He had gone from warrior to a medicine cat's apprentice, two vastly different paths. One meant to protect, and the other to heal. Of course, being a healer was a form of protecting too. A medicine cat protected the clan from premature death due to injury or illness. There too was something for him to be proud of himself for. He would always be a protector.
Moon Tree was suddenly before him, and he noticed that another clan had arrived already. Not surprising in the least. He tipped his head and scented the air. LightningClan. Which made the she-cat within the protection of the warriors Kindleflare. Well, better her than Rookfrost, who had always made his fur crawl. But, professional. He was a representative of TreeClan, and a medicine cat, albeit an apprentice one.
His own escorts/protectors were with him of course, but he did his best to pretend like he didn't strongly dislike that he had to be protected. Of course there was also the fact that going out by oneself all the way to Moon Tree was dangerous, so that helped somewhat. But! A smile was needed here, and he offered one to Kindleflare.
Notes : I got permission for him to go ahead and arrive from Fawn . I can change things if Insi gets back in time. I intentionally left it vague as to who his escorts were because I didn't know who to send XD.

Smokefur felt as if she was going through the motions as she trudged her way up to the moon tree. Nightclan found itself in a quiet slump, which usually would have been cause for celebration, however the aging she-cat knew well that variety was the spice of life. No longer the youngest medicine cat, not even close for that matter, Smokefur was now one of the last of the old guard. It was a strange feeling for the aging medicine cat as she had never seemed to get along with the medicine cats of her generation, however as their numbers dwindled it seemed she felt a sense of longing for what used to be. All of these factors coupled together to leave the medicine cat feeling old and tired as she did what she always had on the half moon.
Nightclan wasn't the first to arrive, something Smokefur deemed appropriate for younger cats, thus she dipped her head politely to those present. Scanning the crowd only left Smokefur feeling older than ever as Lightningclan was already present and Rookfrost was nowhere to be seen. Socializing at meetings was something that Smokefur had always prided herself on and she wasn't going to let a mild case of the blues hold her back. With Rookfrost being absent Kindleflare was the obvious target for conversation, waiving off her escorts Smokefur approached the flighty she-cat with a polite greeting. "Good evening Kindleflare, how are you?"

Dawnblossom StoneClan Medicine Cat Medicine Cats of StoneClan had the shortest journey to the Moon Tree, of all five Clans. Yet Dawnblossom and her apprentice, Sandpaw, were not the first to arrive; very nearly last with the exception of RainClan. The matriarchal she-cat greeted each healer kindly. "Greetings, Kindleflare."
Rookfrost was not with the shy ginger she-cat this time. Dawnblossom felt better for it. That tom had always given her an unpleasant feeling - like walking into a tunnel that refused to let in even a shred of light. "Greetings, Smokefur. Bluejay." There was a new face amongst the usual crowd; an older tom, much older than Sandpaw, but obviously Bluejay's new apprentice by how closely they stood together.
Dawnblossom knew all too well how StarClan could call them to service at almost any age; that the TreeClan cat was older wouldn't have an impact on his training. That Sandpaw was an outsider, wouldn't change a thing either.
Laying her tail over Sandpaw's back in reassurance, she planned to introduce him properly to both the other healers and to StarClan themselves when they entered the cavern.

Sandpaw moved at his Mentor's side with light, careful steps to cover up the fact that his still growing body was awkward and difficult manage for him. He was much taller now and so lanky he didn't know just what to do with his feet and paws anymore. It was embarrassing for the young tom, but he was getting better about it at least. His mother was worried about him, he knew, but she was also so proud and that gave him the courage he needed to stay by Dawnblossom's side with his head held high just like his mother always held her's. He could be brave when needed; as he was hardly a coward. He was also deeply curious; green eyes looking around at everything and taking in all the new sights and smells of the area.
He hoped they'd like him and maybe when he got home they'd start letting him help them just like Dawnblossom did. He could only try. Sandpaw leaned slightly sideways until his side brushed Dawnblossom's as he sought quiet reassurance before straightening back upright once more. He was alright, he could do this. His mother believed in him and so did Dawnblossom and all the cats that mattered back in Stone Clan. And even if they didn't accept him, he believed that Star Clan had helped Dawnblossom choose him for a reason and he would never doubt that choice from them. So long as he kept up that faith, Sandpaw knew he could do anything.

Approaching pawsteps drew the attention of her escorts, and so too did they draw her attention. Deep amber eyes located the source, four figures emerging. The scent of TreeClan carried softly on the wind, and Kindleflare recognized the gray figure of Bluejay. Walking beside her was a large tom, who she would have easily mistaken for a warrior had it not been for the two other TreeClan warriors walking on the edges of the group. She blinked curiously, wondering if this tom could be Bluejay's apprentice. Figuring it would all be explained soon, the ginger and white medicine cat offered the arriving TreeClanners a timid smile.
Smokefur's gray pelt was next to arrive, the experienced medicine cat waving away her escorts with ease before approaching. Kindleflare's ears tipped back shyly, though not unpleasantly, as NightClan's healer approached her. Smokefur had always seemed to be a kind she-cat to Kindleflare. A part of Kindleflare had always wondered how her experience may have differed had she been taught by a cat like Smokefur rather than Rookfrost. Dipping her head in respect, Kindleflare did her best to steady her voice as she spoke. "H-Hello Smokefur. I am well, th-thank you. I... Hope you are the same?"
A ginger ear rotated atop her head, the ginger and white LightningClan medicine cat aware of more sets of approaching footsteps. As she glanced over her shoulder, her gaze alighted upon Dawnblossom and a rather lanky but young looking tom at her side. A-Another medicine cat with an apprentice..? She thought to herself, idly wondering if it was time she herself picked an apprentice. Her heart hammered against her ribcage at the thought of teaching someone, and she did her best to ignore the plaguing thoughts of inadequacy. Her muzzle tipped down in a brief nod as Dawnblossom greeted her.
"H-Hello." She managed, before easing back into silence. Conversation drifted between the gathered medicine cats, the shy she-cat doing her best to remain involved and answer when spoken to. Eventually, one of the medicine cats suggested continuing with the meeting, regardless of RainClan's absence. Dark amber eyes turned up to the sky, trying to judge how long they'd waited. Murmuring a soft agreement, she rose to her paws and followed the others as they filed into the cave. As they all settled for a series of announcements sure to come, the nervous medicine cat cleared her throat softly, waving her tail to indicate she had news to share.
News of new apprentices was a happy time. Her news was of a more somber note; she didn't want to dampen the mood, and so chose to speak first even if her heart felt like it might leap from the confines of her chest at a moment's notice. Straightening herself in an effort to steady her nerves, she looked up and met the kind eyes of Smokefur. Using the elder medicine cat as an anchor, the ginger and white she-cat mewed softly. "R-Rookfrost... Resigned from h-his position as medicine cat of LightningClan. I h-have since... T-Taken his place and a-am proud to continue to s-serve my Clan."
Shrinking slightly to signify she was finished, she could only hope someone else would speak soon. Her fur was warm, and she could swear she felt the gazes of the other medicine cats on her. |

Bluejay TreeClan Medicine Cat Bluejay listened quietly to Kindleflare's somber news. When Kindleflare shrank back, the appropriately named she-cat stepped up, gently commanding the attention of her peers.
"I have only one piece of news to share with you all. The time has come for me to take an apprentice. I have brought Falconstorm with me tonight, to make his position official in the eyes of StarClan." She smiled kindly to the warrior. "Falconstorm, is it your wish to enter the mysteries of StarClan as a medicine cat?"
There was a brief pause to allow the large tom to speak, before Bluejay smoothly recited the rest of the words. "Then come forward. Warriors of StarClan, I present you with this apprentice. He has chosen the path of a medicine cat. Grant him your wisdom and insight so that he may understand your ways and heal his Clan in accordance with your will."
Bluejay looked upon her pupil approvingly, letting her gaze meet his to know that the ceremony was complete. After they heard what the other medicine cats had to say, they would share dreams with StarClan at the roots of the Moon Tree.

Falconstorm34 MOONS, MEDICINE CAT APPRENTICE OF TREECLAN He drew his shoulders back, standing straight and proud in front of his mentor and the other medicine cats as the meeting got fully underway. "It is." And the ritual was complete as she fully inducted him as her apprentice before medicine cats and StarClan. He met her gaze and gave a tip of his head before coming to sit at Bluejay's side at last.
Once the others had shared what they needed to they'd move on, share dreams with StarClan, which was a first for him. Falconstorm believed very much in StarClan, like most clan cats, but he didn't know if they'd deign to say anything to him tonight. He was still only an apprentice, and he felt, somehow, that his heart wasn't yet fully in the role as a medicine cat apprentice.
So much still weighed on his mind, so many paths opening before him just as he entered this role. Perhaps this experience, this chance to really understand where this path was leading him, would help clear the doubts he had. After all, he wasn't the first warrior to become a medicine cat instead.

Dawnblossom StoneClan Medicine Cat
With an acknowledging, approving purr towards Falconstorm and Bluejay, Dawnblossom stepped forward next. "I am ready to begin training an apprentice also." Dawnblossom fixed yellow-green eyes on the young Sandpaw. She spoke kindly but with certainty. "Sandpaw, is it your wish to enter the mysteries of StarClan as a medicine cat?"
She had been skeptical of him at first - how could it be that a loner-born tom had been chosen by StarClan? - but her fears were unfounded. Sandpaw had been brought to StoneClan for a reason, and that reason was now clear as crystal water. The small pale tom looked exceptionally young, after the fully fledged warrior-turned-healer Falconstorm had taken his oath, yet it was usually young cats that became apprentices. Usually. It seemed as though StarClan was turning their attentions to warriors and queens more often than kits.
Hearing the reply she'd been listening for, Dawnblossom smiled and finished the ceremony. "Then come forward. Warriors of StarClan, I present you with this apprentice. He has chosen the path of a medicine cat. Grant him your wisdom and insight so that he may understand your ways and heal his Clan in accordance with your will."
Dawnblossom rejoined Sandpaw, brushing pelts with him in a gesture of support as they retook their seats. They would speak with StarClan soon.

SandpawMedicine Cat Apprentice of StoneClan As his turn came Sandpaw pulled himself up to his full height. He wasn't fully grown yet and so was still smaller than his Mentor but soon that wouldn't be true. He watched quietly the much larger tom that was presented before him and for a moment he was worried about how everyone would react to him. Then he remembered all over again the faith everyone that mattered had in him and pulled himself back up proudly. His stance was very much like his mother Silverglade's just then, and exuded a quiet sort of confidence in the choice he had made for his path in life.
He stood before those gathered and replied to his part in the ceremony like he'd been taught to. He stood firm and confident of his choice and knew StarClan was behind him. He had faith things would work out as they were meant to and that he would become a fine Medicine Cat for Stone Clan; he truly did. Even so, he was glad when his part in the ceremony was over so he could take comfort in the warmth of Dawnblossom by his side as they sat back down to wait for it to be time to do whatever came next.
He wondered what StarClan would have to say to him during this time, and what visions he would see or if he'd see anything this time around as sometimes StarClan just didn't need to speak to a cat. Whatever may happen though, he was glad to have finally taken a step in the right direction.

The ginger and white she-cat relaxed as attention drifted away from her to some of the other medicine cats. Bright amber eyes followed the conversations, and the docile medicine cat purred softly as two new medicine cat apprentices were sworn in. Falonstorm of TreeClan must have been a warrior previously, much like she had been. It was fascinating to Kindleflare, knowing that StarClan was seeking cats who might have missed their initial calling. If Falconstorm was even the slightest bit like her, then she hoped he found his calling on this path of non-violence.
And young Sandpaw... He stepped onto this path with fresh paws. Watching him now as he stood before Dawnblossom, she could see the hope and the pride in his eyes. She felt happy for him, and in that moment? It made being a medicine cat worth it. Eventually, the time came for the group to move further into the cavern. Rising to her paws, the ginger and white she-cat moved with the group. Somehow, she wound up at the front, moving quickly so as not to hold anyone up. She was aware of the group fanning out behind her, each moving towards a familiar spot near the Moon Tree.
She wondered what was going through the two new apprentices' heads in that moment. The Moon Tree was a beautiful sight. And if all went well for them tonight... They'd experience yet another near-unbelievable thing before the night was done. LightningClan's healer slowly lowered herself to the ground, feeling the cool air wrap around her as she pressed her nose to the Moon Tree. As she drifted to sleep, she couldn't help but hope Flameshadow would be waiting for her on the other side. |

Bluejay Medicine Cat of TreeClan Bluejay followed quickly on the heels of Kindleflare, her pelt glowing like silvery-blue starlight under the luminescence of the Moon Tree. It still made her breathless, though she had seen it many times before. Looking forward to seeing Pinkcloud, her beloved sister, and Nighthawk, their father, Bluejay found a comfortable place at the tree's roots, and settled down.
Before she closed her eyes, she watched Falconstorm, wanting to be sure he was settled in before she drifted into the presence of StarClan. The first time they shared dreams with StarClan was always the most exciting. The anticipation. The worry they would not speak. Falconstorm had to experience all of that for himself. She had told him before they'd arrived that he did not have to tell her of his experience with StarClan; if it was a private moment, then it should stay a private moment. Falconstorm was in her peripherals, and Bluejay found her eyes slipping closed before she'd decided they should, but the urge to sleep - to dream with her ancestors - was already pulling her away.
Starlit fields opened up before her, and Bluejay's heart shivered with joy upon seeing a familiar white pelt and beautiful pink eyes.

Falconstorm34 MOONS, MEDICINE CAT APPRENTICE OF TREECLAN So it was time to have his first dream from StarClan. He certainly believed in them, but until this moment he had never thought he may actually hear them, be able to interact with them. Would he meet his birth mother, the she-cat that bore him? Would StarClan send him a vision of something to come, or perhaps they would just tell him he was on the right path, to keep doing well. He didn't know, but he'd soon find out.
He followed on Bluejay's paws, trying to find a spot near her as he looked at each of the other gathered medicine cats. He had the hilarious realization that all the other gathered medicine cats were she-cats. Dawnblossom of StoneClan, Bluejay of TreeClan, Kindleflare of LightningClan, and Smokefur of NightClan. All she-cats. And then he and little Sandpaw were the only toms in this group. Both apprentices, despite the difference in their ages.
The TreeClan tom shook his head and settled down protectively near Bluejay, too many moons of warrior training and living making it hard to lose the need to protect. They were supposed to be safe here with the other medicine cats, their guard outside of Moon Tree. Which, now that he was no longer distracted by the multitude of female medicine cats around him, was awe inspiring all over again. He looked straight up even as he settled down to rest, fixated and fascinated. He didn't know when it was he fell asleep, just that suddenly he was in darkness.
Darkness surrounded him for some time, and he had the sense that someone was near him, someone that gave him the sense of love and pride. His mother, perhaps. And then....leaves falling from the sky. Green newleaf leaves that turn into mist as they touch the ground and spread out over the valley, covering it in a thick green mist. What did that mean?
He knew he was dreaming, he could feel other cats around him, more than had come with him here. They spoke softly, and he finally knew he was in the presence of StarClan.
Bluejay. Trust in your mentor, they told him. She will lead you true.

Dawnblossom StoneClan Medicine Cat
Dawnblossom picked a suitable place at the roots of the Moon Tree, and gently padded the space beside her for Sandpaw to join in. She didn't want him to worry about sharing dreams with StarClan; it didn't matter that he wasn't Clan born. He had been chosen. The moonlight was bathing the sacred arbor in splendid white, lightening the pelts of every cat around it; even Kindleflare's ginger coat looked more silver when she moved closer to it.
She wondered who Sandpaw would be greeted by. Ivywhisker, the medicine cat before her? Or even Blackeagle, who had trained Ivywhisker. It was hard to say, Dawnblossom did not claim to know every cat in StarClan. They may just have a few new faces waiting for the young tom's first meeting.
Dawnblossom closed her eyes, taking in a slow, quiet breath. She let it out just as slowly and quietly. It was her chance to see Brackentail, Nightpaw and Bramblepaw again. Already she could scent her mate and kits all around her, even as StarClan slowly pulled her into Silverpelt.

SandpawMedicine Cat Apprentice of StoneClanSandpaw stood in awe of the sights around him, even as he silently followed Dawnblossom to where everyone was supposed to share dreams with StarClan. He wondered what they'd say to him; though a small part of him worried they might not. That was just him being nervous though, instead of an actual lack of faith. His mother believed in StarClan, so he had never not believed in them. He settled into his place next to his Mentor and eventually stopped gawking at the world around him and made himself lay down as the others had.
He shut his eyes and took deep breaths, letting himself drift. He scented something musky and familiar first, and distantly he recognized the smell as his father Dappleback. And all at once his mind was drawn back to the fire and the day his life had been spared when his littermate's lives had ended with their father's. He still felt so guilty about that, even knowing it wasn't his fault. He'd been so small then, and so powerless. Fire was scary to him, even now that he understood what it was.
There was warmth next to him again, and the soothing feeling of three smaller bodies pressed against his as the larger frame of his father brushed against him soothingly. He sensed no judgement from them, nor any blame. They missed him and they missed Silverglade, but they didn't blame either of them for surviving the fire. They were happy and proud of what he was doing with his path in life. Sorrow filled Sandpaw, along with a strange sort of determination to prove to them he could do what he'd set out to do.
But there was still the fire, and he was still afraid. Even as the familiar feeling of his family left, StarClan still had something to show him; something to say. The fire blazed all around him, and distantly he could hear a voice calling out to him. Then someone was whispering to him; something he couldn't make out. It was too much, too much!
Then there was a brush of another pelt next to him and it all went away. Peace, the presence seemed to say. Immediately he was soothed and the fire was gone, but what did it mean he wondered. And in his dream, a whisper-soft voice answered him as he felt himself drift back towards consciousness. Trust that you are strong, and there is nothing you cannot do.
He didn't understand what any of this had meant; especially the terrifying omen of fire, but he would trust that he'd know what to do when the time came. That was all he could do, really. ## @@ Tags: Fawn Justice BlooRey DVD @poptart
