Zuma felt his heartbeat quicken when the lovely tortoiseshell she-cat came closer, the small gap between them seeming to shrink even further. Conscious of her every move and every word he spoke, the young tom watched, letting an electric kind of silence settle between them as his brain suffered from a brief lull period. Momentarily at a loss for words, Zuma glanced down at his paws, trying to think of something to say that wasn't either 1) nonsensical or 2) just blabbering.
The sudden movement out of the corners of his eyes - of Brokensong glancing towards the sky - gave him the push he needed. Clearing his throat, Zuma craned his neck back, amber eyes taking in the beautiful expanse of stars that filled up the night sky, moonlight shining down directly upon them, as though they had been singled out.
"You really love the stars, don't you?" He mewed, a soft smile painting his muzzle, his tail angled closer towards hers.
He didn't spend a lot of time thinking about the stars at night. He was usually too busy hunting or exploring to bother stopping and looking up. Because Shatani had never made any mention of Silverpelt, the stars did not hold any such sentimentality or mystique as it would for a Clan cat. Intrigued by her genuine like for them, Zuma took a much more in depth look at the sky, studying the faint wispy clouds, and the beautiful swath of stars that glittered like the many diamond scales of a fish. Just then, something moved.
Body going rigid, the tom's ears pricked forward and he watched with wide-staring eyes, orbs illuminated by moonlight as a moving star shot across the sky just above them. Had he been a superstitious creature, he would have viewed it as the biggest blessing the heavens could give besides actually saying 'you two are made for each other'. Zuma hadn't really considered himself a romantic at heart, he was mostly just sincere to his core, and therefore the full effects of the comet and this moment would hit him a bit later. In the meantime, his fur had stood on end and his eyes were teeming with excitement.
"Did you see that? Wait, did you know that was going to happen, is that why you kept looking up?" He bore an infectious green, expression of pure warmth.
Jeez. If anyone had told him that stars could move then he would've started looking up a long time ago!
