Normally on cold days her sister Cougarflight would care nest and try and keep warm, but no such luck was happening today. Lionsong had not see hair or hide of her sister and wondered just where the cloud dreamer would be. She thought only briefly of her sister before pushing the thought out of her head. Rising up to where she sat solely on her rump she looked about the camp and spotted a small but unused sun spot.
Up and moving toward it, Lionsong purred deeply as she curled up in the sun's warmth. She didn't sleep she simply listened to the clan, her eyes lazily opened watching the clan. Sandstrike emerged out of the Warriors’ Den and into TreeClan’s main camp and was instantly greeted by a cold wave of air. StarClan, it’s cold! Fluffing up his sandy coloured pelt, his piercing blue gaze scoured the camp for any available spots where the sunlight reached the clearing floor, instead of getting lost amongst the trees and shadows. As usual, many were occupied by the queens and elders of the clan, though, to the warrior’s surprise, one space in the sun remained. Smiling to himself at his luck, he padded towards it. He couldn’t wait to feel the warmth of the sun on his pelt! It seemed that someone else had also had the same idea as Sandstrike though, as a golden tabby she-cat settled on the last available sun spot, just as he was about to reach it. It was Lionsong. Sandstrike was almost at her side and it looked like he was going to have to say something to the other warrior, otherwise it would look rude if he just turned upon his paws and walked away. He hadn’t talked to Lionsong before, but Sandstrike knew she was a reasonable cat; Lionstar was friends with her, so she had to O.K. . “Hi, Lionsong,” he began rather awkwardly. Avoiding her gaze, he looked up at the clear blue sky, “Great weather we’re having, huh?” Talking about the weather! he thought to himself, angry at having brought up the subject, Since when have I been shy? I should’ve said something else, like how she was or something. He tried to hide the annoyance bottled up inside him and instead smiled at Lionsong, “So, uh, been hunting yet?” he meowed, this time managing to meet the she-cat’s gaze, “I wonder how the prey’s running today. I bet most of the mice and squirrels are in their nests.” A cold wind targeted Sandstrike and shuddered a little at the icy cold, how he wished to be back in his nest right now, but he couldn’t just walk away from Lionsong.

From the looks of his pet and chilled expression on his face she knew he'd come over to share the sun spot, question was would he ask her to leave? Without a shrug she scooted over a little giving enough room for him to sit beside her, granted he didn't mind being close.
"Here lay next to me so we can share the sun." She said kindly, before answering his questions. "I went hunting but I didn't get anything. It's so cold I was afraid my paw's freeze off if I didn't return soon." She responded, half joking but the fact was she didn't find anything worth eating and that almost put her in a sour mood, but she reminded herself that even the best of hunters were coming back with less and less prey.
"Are you going hunting again later? I'd like to join you." She meowed kindly, tail flicking lazily. It seemed that Lionsong had realise that Sandstrike had been hoping to occupy the last available spot in the sunlight as she shifted over to one side and kindly meowed, "Here lay next to me so we can share the sun."[/b] Sandstrike blinked shyly, feeling a little awkward as he settled down next to Lionsong, though when he felt the warm sunlight beaming on his pelt, he felt a lot more at ease. It was probably more the warmth of the sun though. "Thank you," he meowed politely, though deep down he felt a little rude, coming over here and stealing some of Lionsong's sunlight, and as she had just said, she had already been out hunting for the clan. So far, Sandstrike had caught nothing today. Feeling a wave of guilt, he gave Lionsong a little more space in the sun; she may not have caught anything, but at least she had tried. Sandstrike had never like leaf-bare; he hated the thought of the clan going hungry. The cold had come surprisingly early this year and TreeClan's fresh-kill-pile was diminishing slowly every day; at this rate, they'd have no prey in a moon or so. Well, at least the sun was still out. "Are you going hunting again later? I'd like to join you."[/b] The sandy-coloured warrior was a little surprised by her question, but he accepted her offer easily, "Sure, if we hunt together we might even be able to catch a squirrel or a magpie or something." This was also a good opportunity to get to know Lionsong a little better. Currently, Sandstrike was a bit of a loner with only a few friends. It wasn't that the sandy coloured warrior found making friends hard; in fact it came naturally, or it usually did at least, he still didn't understand why he'd been feeling a bit shy around Lionsong. The main reason Sandstrike had so few friends was because he simply didn't have the time. With leaf-bare causing prey shortages, he had tried to spend as much time catching prey for the clan as possible. True, he hadn't been out yet today, but every warrior deserved a rest every once in a while.
Stretching out his weary limbs, he attempted to make conversation with Lionsong a little more, "I wonder how the other clans are faring in this weather," he meowed thoughtfully, his piercing blue gaze a little distant.[/size]

[style=border: 5px wheat solid; text-align: center; width: 100px; height: 100px;] lionsong [/style][style=font-family: verdana; font-size: 10px; text-align: justify; padding-top: 5px; line-height: 12px;]He accepted her invitation to share the sun, she smiled as his fur gently brushed against her own. There was a little spark there, he was warm and if Lionsong was more flirtatious she'd wrap her tail around his and rest her head on his back, he was just so warm!
It wasn't that Lionsong was frozen or anything, she had a thinner coat and any warmth was like the sun. She did however catch a little glimpse of a warrior's guilt. She felt that same guilt on days she didn't hunt for what ever the reason, which normally revolved around feeling sick from not eating regular meals. It was unrealistic for herself to work to the bone and since her talk with Lionstar, during his deputy days she had taken a step back.
She no longer ran herself ragged trying to make up for her sister's short comings and after hearing that her sister and him did have a hunting session, Lionsong figured it was best to leave it alone, not that she loved her sister any less.
Her offer to go hunting with him was answered quickly and she smiled, at least her next outing to the snow covered forest would be with someone to they could walk side by side and brush pelts, but something about how Sandstrike's fur felt against her's she knew more than warmth would pass between them. Even now just laying beside him share a little sun, she felt a new kind of warmth but did her best to dismiss it, which didn't help to much.
Lionsong was a beauty but she hardly recognized it within herself. A flaw of her personality, she couldn't imagine having a relationship with a tom like her parents. What was she thinking! Already picture Sandstrike warming her nest, who what a heart on her tail kind of she-cat. The first tom to be nice to her and show that same giddy kind of nervousness and she's already fallowing paws over tail for him.
Turning her head away, she abruptly stopped herself from looking at him, trying not to make it look like she was being rude, she kept her tail moving in a lazy but alert state. "I wouldn't know how the other Clans are faring. I knew awhile back StoneClan sent a mentor and apprentice team to gather herbs from us, but I did go on a patrol to NightClan border and they were trying to move the border." She remarked causally, it wasn't important, it had been days before that anything had happened and lately Lionsong has be hunting instead of patrolling.
"I don't have many friends in other clans." Lionsong remarked, carefully turning to her gaze back to him, keeping her eyes away from his, a she-cat could get lost in his handsome blue eyes. Sandstrike could already feel the awkward easing off between them. Stretching out a little, he let his sandy-coloured pelt soak up the the warmth of the sun. He yawned, blinking lazily and letting his gaze wander around the camp. It was awfully quite this morning, other than the occasional queen or elder, also enjoying this morning's sun. Most warriors, he guessed, were probably out hunting or snoozing in their mossy nests. Lionsong didn't seem to want to look at him while she spoke, "I wouldn't know how the other Clans are faring. I knew awhile back StoneClan sent a mentor and apprentice team to gather herbs from us, but I did go on a patrol to NightClan border and they were trying to move the border." The sandy-coloured tom nodded with interest, "Well, we've got the gathering tomorrow night, so I guess we can find out about the other clans then.", although, to be frank, Sandstrike didn't really give a bother about the other clans, he'd just used that subject as an ice breaker really. Though, if NightClan were desperate enough to try and move the border, they must have some serious problems, prey shortages Sandstrike assumed. "I don't have many friends in other clans." This time, Lionsong looked at him as she spoke. Sandstrike smiled, finally getting the chance to admire her a little more. She was certainly something to behold. A golden tabby, she had well-defined muscles and her fur was medium length, but the most attractive part, perhaps, was her eyes. They were a deep bronze colour, rather like her sister, Cougarflight,'s eyes. Sandstrike found himself holding his breath as he gazed at them. Dragging his piercing blue gaze away from her, he glanced up at the sun. It was high in the sky now and it wouldn't be much longer until the shadows engulfed the sun spot they were sharing. Shuddering a little at the thought of his pelt being cold again, he found he had pressed himself a little closer to Lionsong. Shyly, and not meeting her bronze gaze, he smiled, "Sorry," normally, he would move away from the other cat if he was in the same situation with another she-cat, but he couldn't bring himself to do it. He could feel a little spark when their pelts brushed and it was more that than the fear of being cold that meant he didn't move away from her side. Sandstrike wasn't quite sure what emotion he was feeling, but one thing was for sure, he liked it.

It wasn't that the cats she meet at the gathering were cruel to her, they just didn't share her same common interests. LightingClan cats talked of running and being out in the open, RainClan cats talked of the water, TreeClan had both but Lionsong enjoyed the trees. While she was always friendly she didn't care to much about making her short lived friends last longer than the evenings.
Sandstrike also said he didn't have any cross-clans friends and Lionsong smiled, relaxed warm smile toward him. It didn't take long for her to feel his gaze on her and that made her worry about her appearance, she struggled not to look like a vanity prone she-cat. She did however lick down her fur around her chest and shoulder, to look a little presentable but why? He was just a clanmate but just by the way he looked at her, Lionsong felt she should present herself more beautifully. "You look like a stupid bird Lionsong, get a grip! Stop cleaning yourself." She mentally scowled herself as his single word echoed in her ears.
He was sorry and she assumed it was for his staring as his gaze dropped Lionsong felt colder, she felt that she needed his attention again, not that she was an attention grabber, it was just when he looked at her she felt special.
Feeling playful she rolled on to her back and put her paws up in the air, one of each side of his head and wiggled a little to be able to look up and see his eyes, she giggled a rare giggle during the cold months. " There now I can see your handsome blue eyes." She purred but right as those words left her mouth she nearly bit off her tongue! She froze part of her wanting to run away the other half enjoying his feeling of being a bold she-cat but still wanted to run, but she remained where she was. Sandstrike smiled at her playfullness, but her next words he was unsure how to react to. "There now I can see your handsome blue eyes." Frozen to the spot, Sandstrike struggled for words. As soon as the words left Lionsong's jaws, he could tell she regretted speaking them. Breathing deeply, the sandy-coloured tom smiled, attempting to make her feel a little more at ease, "And now I can see your beautiful bronze eyes." It was true anyway, at least in Sandstrike's opinion they were beautiful, now was just a chance to bring it up. Smiling, he found himself getting lost in her gaze. Lionsong's eyes; they were just... so warm, friendly. A deep bronze colour, golden and inviting as the sun itself. Sandstrike stopped himself from looking any longer. The sunlight was starting to fade now, the sandy-coloured tom could tell without looking as his pelt was now considerably colder. At least he had Lionsong by his side. Stretching out cold paws, he met Lionsong's warm gaze again, "Now seem like the right time to go hunting?" he suggested, his head tilted to one side. The sun was still shining, and right now, Sandstrike couldn't think of anything better to do than go hunting with Lionsong.

Flicking her tail she headed toward the camp entrance, she paused a waited for the sand colored warrior, warmth in her eyes.
"Come on slow poke" She giggled disappearing just outside the camp entrance. [style=float: left; background-color: wheat; height: 10px; width: 30px; margin: 1 4 0 0;] Your word count goes here. "Come on slow poke!" Sandstrike made an overexaggerated gasp, though his blue gaze was filled with warmth, "I'll show you a slow poke!" he meowed playfully and raced after her out of camp. Once out of camp, he raced ahead of Lionsong, briefly glancing over his shoulder and calling, "Whoever's last to the Great Maple is a slow slug!" His gaze returned to the path ahead, but he kept finding himslef glancing behind him again to check the golden tabby she-cat was still there. Sandstrike wasn't exactly the fastest of cats, he wasn't a LightningClan cat, built for speed. He was of a small-ish size and could easily weave through the trees, his strong legs propelling him forwards at a steady pace. After a while, he found himself slowing, so skidded to a stand still to give himself a chance to catch his breath and for his muscles to recover. Hoping Lionsong had kept up, he smiled when she reached him, "Okay, maybe no more running," he admitted, realising he hadn't been very mature running off like that. He had probably scared off all the prey, but of course, the sandy-furred tom had been caught up in a world of his own. One where only her and Lionsong existed.

Easily clearing the stumps of old trees and brush that seemed frozen in time. She was built for this! Her agile body and powerful hide legs that normally helped in her climbing also excelled at out pacing her clan-mate, however the frozen air stung in lung and made it hard to breath and thus it was harder for her to keep up such speed.
As Sandstrike called off the race she slowed down herself and all but laid down in the pathway to the maple tree. Trying her hardest not to seem like she was out of shape or anything but her panting was heard even if she tired to fight it.
"Next time we race it should be on a new-leaf day not a cold leaf-bare one. Lionsong smiled weakly and playfully flicked her tail over his shoulder and took the lead toward the large tree.
"You know if it wasn't so hard to find food I wouldn't mind the leaf-bare months. I kind of enjoy the warmth of the warrior's den, only if I have someone to sleep next to, Cougarflight hasn't been sleeping during the night and often takes off that I'm left freezing in the night." Lionsong confessed easily about her life with a sister that always wandered to far from home or climbed to high in a tree, it was tough having your sister with her head in the clouds. Regardless of how difficult it was Lionsong loved her sister dearly and would do anyhting to protect her. Sandstrike nodded in agreement. Well, at least he was a little more awake now and his paws weren't freezing. Having caught his breath, he realised that Lionsong had begun to speak. "You know if it wasn't so hard to find food I wouldn't mind the leaf-bare months. I kind of enjoy the warmth of the warrior's den, only if I have someone to sleep next to, Cougarflight hasn't been sleeping during the night and often takes off that I'm left freezing in the night." The sandy-furred tom smiled sympathetically, "Sorrelflower, my sister, is a bit like that. She randomly goes out, saying that she's going to make dirt, then she comes back at dawn." Sandstrike didn't bother mention his brother, Beechclaw. The pair had never seen eye-to-eye, the dark ginger tom claiming that Sandstrike was too soft, like a kittypet. The sand-coloured tom envied Lionsong a little; she and Cougarflight had such a close bond. Yes, he had Sorrelflower, but she and him had absolutely nothing in common. He still loved her, it's just she was always off somewhere, she never seemed to be around. "You can always share my nest, I could use a little extra warmth," he joked, though deep down he meant it. He would love to sleep beside Lionsong, and not just for added warmth.

However, his next statement warmed not only her cheeks but her heart, she blushed and looked down, kneading her paws in the ground.
"I'd really like that, tonight I'll snuggle with you." She cooed, again pausing for a moment, slightly surprised in her own actions but she didn't startle like before, instead she pressed her nose toward the tom's cheek and purred softly. "Now get your tail in gear and lets go hunting." She purred before jumping and disappearing behind a snow covered bush. The sandy-furred warrior smiled at Lionsong. He felt all warm inside, despite standing in the middle of a snowy forest. Despite it only being mid-morning, he found himself already looking forward to the evening, when he could snuggle up next to Lionsong in the warmth of the Warriors' Den. "Now get your tail in gear and lets go hunting." Sandstrike nodded, immediately switching to hunting mode. Piercing blue eyes scouring the undergrowth, he followed Lionsong silently. The frosty-white ground was unmarked apart from the ocassional paw-prints in the snow. The sandy-furred tom didn't bother scenting the air; he already knew that the snow would cover up most of the scents of the forest. Shaking snow from his pelt, he scanned their surroundings, ears pricked at every sound of movement. Where could prey be on a cold morning like this? He stepped a little closer to Lionsong, hoping to pick up some warmth from her golden pelt. He was about to give up searching the clearing for any signs of life, when he spotted a small bird. He grinned, they had found prey. Glancing sideways briefly at Lionsong, he studied the small bird, which appeared to be a chaffinch. It was small, yes, but any prey was worth catching in this grim leaf-bare.

He had switched to his hunter mode and Lionsong bit her tongue to withhold a laugh. He was something to admire and she truly was starting to do just that. The way he could be playful with her on one moment then serious the next was a great quality in any warrior but paired with his handsome features it was heart throb waiting to happen.
Flicking her tail lazily she walked along side him, meshing her pelt with his, a slight purr coming from her frame as he gave her a little warmth on such a day. As they looked for prey she was giving up hope and felt that same thorn in her chest she felt when she returned without anything, but something in him perked up hopes up as she fallowed his gaze to see the bird.
It was tiny no doubt but meal for any cat and with just as much elegance as dancer she slipped into her hunting crouch and eased forward, using the brush to hide her form the bird.
With her mouth watering she eased up a little, adding power and spunk to her hindlegs she was so heavenly gifted with, they have proven her a strong pouncer and she prayed they wouldn't fail her now.
Tail tucked under her body she sprang without warning, landing on the bird as it let out a surprised squawk before falling limp on the ground. Pleased with her meager meal she headed back to Sandstrike with a pleased smile on her face and placed it before him, a warm sparkle her eye. "You saw it you can claim it" She purred easily, nudging the bird to were it barely touched his paws.
