Description Summary: A large, brown tabby tom with golden eyes and a white patch on his muzzle.
Description:
One word perfectly suits Bearbelly, BIG. Blessed (or cursed) with the genetics to grow a bigger bone structure, Bearbelly is not what anyone would call an average cat's size. While his height is only slightly taller than average, his overall build is beyond what other cat's typically grow into. At first looks, one would assume that the tom was just a glutton, overindulging on prey every chance he got. But that would be quite far from the truth. Underneath his long fur is a brick house of a cat. His body is a solid sheet of muscle topped with a fuzzy coat that does not do him any justice. He excels at anything that involves strength, like the tunnel digging his clan is known for, but lacks any sort of speed. When pitted against thinner cats, his movements are not nearly as quick and agile. He packs a punch but is not able to dodge around like most cats can in a fight.
Atop this mountain of muscle is a brown tabby coat with varying shades of browns, blacks, and whites weaved across it. His face is graced with the only patch of white fur which stretches along his reddish nose down his chin. Around his face and legs are very defined black tabby stripes that then curl into wide patches along the rest of his bod. With his fur as fluffy as it is, it's sometimes hard to discern the stripes along his back and belly regions. These bulky stripes are then matched up with mixes of browns and tans all over his body, giving him that classic tabby visage about him. His fluffed tail almost a solid black color from the large stripes that meet together along it. To top it all off, his eyes are a golden shade to correlate with his swatch of coloring.
Positive traits: Social Butterfly, Cuddler, Protective
Neutral traits: Empathetic, Storyteller
Negative traits: No concept of personal space, throws his weight around, fear of loneliness, Foolish, Bold
Personality:
While his size might be daunting at first, Bearbelly is not quite as intimidating as one might think. In fact, one might describe him as a big teddy bear (No pun intended). He is one of those cats that just loves being around others at all points of his day. Sharing stories and carrying on conversations with cats of all ages gives him a warm feeling inside his chest. He particularly enjoys spending his time with the young kits and apprentices of the clan, who are so young and fun to tell tales to. Though he will not admit to it, the fear of loneliness is a constant worry deep in the recesses of the tom's brain. He has an empathetic side to him that has seen what being lonely can do to other cat's in his clan. Loneliness can just eat away at a cat's sanity and wellbeing so he chooses to do what he can to avoid this. Including trying to keep other cats around him from feeling that sort of low.
Bearbelly is also similar to his name with the fact that he is extremely protective of his clan and family. Like a momma bear, he would face any obstacle and any sized enemy to protect them. The enemy could be three times his size and that would not deter him from facing off against it. A very foolish trait on his part but his way of showing how much he truly cares by throwing his life in harm's way. He also has a bad knack of jumping head first into situations before thinking them through because of this protective side of himself. If there's a threat, he's determined to handle the danger head on.
Known to be quite the cuddle cat, Bear has trouble understanding the concept of personal space. If he feels the need to snuggle up beside another cat, he will regardless of whether they consent to it or not. Everyone needs some physical touch in their life, in his opinion, so why not spread that sort of attention to others? Even if it's just simply to say hello or share a story, Bear will make a comfy spot right up next to other cats without hesitation. This can also pose an issue because while the tom knows he's big in size, he doesn't get that he can't just throw his weight around. The whole size matters sort of ideal just doesn't click in the tom's head. So cats that are smaller than him have to keep an eye on him if he comes close so they do not end up potentially hurt.
History:
Boulderfoot - Father - Galeclan
Hollyleaf - Mother - Galeclan
Moosefoot- Brother - Galeclan
Cougarcall- Sister - Galeclan
Born the oldest of three kits, Bearkit was a large kitten. So large in fact that the medicine cat had to try and assist with getting him out. While he did not cause any damage to his mother in this process, he almost couldn't make it into the world. Luckily the medicine cat worked their magic and out came Bear as well as a Moosekit and Cougarkit right behind him. Much like typical queens, Hollyleaf adored her children, doting upon them every second she could. Their father Boulderfoot was extremely proud of the balls of fluff he helped create so he would visit them at least once, if not twice, daily to play with his little ones. Bear, Moose, and Boulder loved to wrestle around the den, being mindful of the other cats around them. The tom wanted to tough his boys up to be big, bad warriors one day. Cougarcall stayed closer to her mother, learning from watching the boys more so than participating.
So when the day came for their apprentice ceremonies, Beatkit was more than ready to take this next step in his life. He was ready to take on his training and work hard to be a warrior the clan needed as his father had so hoped. Paired with a younger warrior, Jaywing, Bearkit took on the name Bearpaw. The duo waited until the next morning before they set to working on his training. In the moons to follow, Bear learned real quickly that his overall size would pose a problem in some areas of his training. While sure, he could catch some of the slower prey or try to outsmart them, he had a harder time catching up if they ran. He just couldn't muster up the speed to really take off after anything. Fighting training had the same dilemma, his size. But where he was lacking in speed, Jaywing showed him ways to make up for it with stronger moves. Ways to dodge attacks without requiring as much energy. He was strong with his attacks but any dodging about had to be thought through or he would be hit square in the face. He picked up on this and honed in on what sorts of moves to make to save himself in the event he ever got into a real fight. Jaywing was quite proud of the tom for finding his weakness and trying to work around it as quick as he did. The makings of good warrior or so Jaywing believed when he'd brag to the deputy about his apprentice.
12 moons rolled around and Bearpaw had made many improvements in that time. Discovering a skill at digging tunnels and using his size to his advantage. Using this as reference for his warrior name, he was dubbed Bearbelly by the leader. Boulderfoot and Hollyleaf cheered on their children from the sidelines as each was given a warrior name to suit them. Bearbelly was so proud of what he had accomplished during his training, making sure to keep it in mind every time he went on patrols.
Not far into his warriorhood, a huge earthquake shattered the lands that the clans all lived on. Territories fell apart, cats were lost to the earth, and everyone was frantic over where to go. All of the clans, in an attempt to save themselves, then fled to the caves of the Tribe of Forgotten Waters. In the caves, they believed that the rocks would help from the ground splitting beneath their paws. Luckily for Bearbelly, his family had all made it to the caves unharmed. This was not the same for many others. The feeling of sadness and loss filled the caves like a fog, clouding the tom's brain on the daily. He had a knack for picking up on some stronger emotions from other cats so combining the emotions of many clans all together, it was almost enough to choke him. The moment he was allowed to step foot out of the cave, he jumped at the opportunity. He would partner up with whoever he had to to get out of there. Because even in the days to come afterwards, the cave was stuffy as all heck. How the tribe could handle it, he didn't know.
When talks of settling new lands were brought up, Bearbelly was among the first to jump on patrols to discover the new lands. He was going stir crazy sitting around hoping the earth had stopped crumbling around them. So he jumped on patrols to discover new areas and even when Lightningclan established a new territory as Galeclan, he jumped for every opportunity to help. His size proved to be quite helpful when heavy things needed moved or placed somewhere afterall. He wasn't able to help alot with prey but he definitely stepped up for camp building. Now he spends his time with his new and old clanmates as well as helping with the tunnels whenever he can.
