Description:

Berrykit's coat is a kind of dusty silver-black, looking lighter in direct sun. There has been some fluctuation since birth, where she appeared more solid black in color, before the tabby pattern slowly revealed itself. Now, and most likely in her fully grown form, Berrykit's coat has a charcoal tint with black striping difficult to detect after a certain distance. Her patterning is subtle compared to her mother's and sister's rich bengal coats, something she will come to resent.

Rather than change to green or yellow as most kitten eyes do, Berrykit's blue eyes appear to be here to stay. Cool and sharp, they are complimented by short white whiskers and gently pointed features. Her nose leather is, unsurprisingly, black. Her body type is slender and quick, like a garter snake. She has a quickness of movement and a quickness of mind that manifests even as early as her kithood.

Would anyone expect mundane traits in a kit with Clovermask for their mother? Berrykit, despite her sweet name, can be anything but. Behind the soft kitten features, is a surprisingly sharp mind. Though young, Berrykit is already displaying a certain Machiavellian preference for cunning and manipulation. Her aim is hardly to hurt others, but any damage caused to those she deems 'unimportant' is brushed off with a routine 'I'm sorry' and nothing more.

Berrykit possesses the blessing and the curse of fixation. Like a dog with a bone - or a knife in the back - once she grips onto something, or someone, it's hard to shake her loose. It can fill up her whole mind, her whole day, her whole moon if she lets it. Berrykit's largest fixation right now is with her mother, Clovermask, whom she respects and admires and craves the attention and approval of. Believing Clovermask better than anyone else in the Clan, she defers to her mother in almost all things, and expects others to do the same.

Already so young, she looks down on others, having absorbed a sense of pride in being the future Clan leader's daughter. Though not stupid enough to say this out loud, Berrykit hopes Darkstar dies sooner rather than later, so her beloved mother can become Cloverstar, as she should be.

Despite these overwhelmingly negative traits, Berrykit does genuinely love her littermates and her mother. This compassion doesn't always extend to anyone outside of this small circle of kin, and the compassion often lends itself to a nosy, almost overprotective bearing. This may or may not worsen as time goes on.

When not soaking up her mother's attention like a sponge, Berrykit enjoys typical kithood behavior; playing, exploring, listening to stories. However, there's a keenness to her that can get her into trouble. She likes to stick her nose in places it doesn't belong, subconsciously using her mother's status as an hall pass to do as she pleases. Whether Berrykit realizes it or not, she is already thinking of a future as her mother's deputy. It would be the ultimate show of support she could give to Clovermask, and to have everyone in the Clan treat her so subserviently...

It's enough to build a dream on. Build a goal.

Berrykit can be a little intense, for those that truly know her, but her wit is sharp and her tongue is clever, and she has all the makings of a positive member of NightClan society.

History:

As far as history goes, Berrykit's is steeped in duplicity.

The story she knows and believes; she was born to Clovermask, deputy of NightClan, and an unknown father who seemingly wanted nothing to do with the new litter. Her siblings are Dogkit and Azaleakit, and they are the most important thing to Clovermask. Bluecloud, Clovermask's former mentor, steps in often to help caretake for the little family, but he is more of a babysitter or an uncle Berrykit is semi-fond of than any true father figure.

Her life is perfect. Her mother is the sun around which she orbits, and nothing is going to change that.

Now for the truth.

Berrykit and her siblings were stolen. Not so much as ripped from their mother's womb, but abruptly and violently orphaned by the very she-cat who took them in and claimed them as her own. Like in any well laid plan, Clovermask covered her tracks well, and keeps up the rouse to this day. No cat that wanted to remain in NightClan was foolish enough to tell Berrykit and the others that Clovermask was not their birth mother. To the rest of the Clan, the three kits were rescued by Clovermask, and most are content with this story.

With Berrykit's hero worship of Clovermask, there's no telling the damage it would do to the young she-cat's psyche to have the truth one day come to light.

But for now, she is a happy, ambitious, clever young warrior-to-be with big plans for herself, and an undying love for the mother she believes in so deeply.
