Basic Information Name: Duckpaw. Age: Ten moons. Gender: Tom. - Pronouns: He/him. Clan: TreeClan. - Rank: Apprentice.
Appearance Description summary: A brown and cream tom with yellow-green eyes.
Personality Duckpaw lives for the moment. He is very impulsive and loves the rush of jumping into things paws first without thinking. As a result, he is a thrill-seeker, always finding odd ways to entertain himself and get into trouble. He's a very generous cat and will go out of his way to things for others. He is well-known as a good-hearted young tom who will do just about anything for anyone. Duckpaw is more of a follower than a leader, and usually goes along with whatever another cat things is best. His admiration for his littermate, Ravenpaw, was what led him to become such a thrill seeker in the first place, and that trait hasn't faded with Ravenpaw's death. Duckpaw holds a grudge very strongly, and will rarely find it in him to forgive a cat for hurting him or for doing something else he perceives as terrible. Duckpaw is very friendly towards other cats, and could be considered talkative. He'll be the first to approach strangers at a gathering, and his outgoing nature makes it easy for him to form friendships with other cats.
Kin Father: Deerstorm / Bio Mother: Sunwind / Bio Sister: Robinpaw / Bio Brother: Ravenpaw
History Duck-kit, Ravenkit and Robinkit were born to Deerstorm and Sunwind following their swiftly blossoming relationship. The two quickly decided to bear kits and the rambunctious litter of kits was the result. Robinkit and Duck-kit were named for their appearances, with Robinkit resembling the plump little songbird and Duck-kit taking after his father's brown pelt. Ravenkit was named after Sunwind's own mentor, who she considered more of a father figure than her own father ever had been. The kits had a typical upbringing, they grew up relatively safe and happy in TreeClan camp. Ravenkit always seemed to find himself in the medicine den for one reason or another, typically due to his own adventurous nature. Duck-kit began to practically worship Ravenkit, to the point where he would do anything his brother told him to. Robinkit was less "fun" than Ravenkit and Duck-kit, and as a result the two brothers left her out of the majority of their adventures.
Robinpaw told Lionstar about a plot Ravenpaw and Duckpaw had to leave TreeClan territory to go explore. The two were caught in the act fairly easily and they lost their opportunity to go to their first gathering. Duckpaw and Ravenpaw were furious with Robinpaw, feeling that she had spoiled their fun. They were even more angry when Robinpaw got to go to the gathering instead, feeling as though she had robbed something from them.
Eventually, Ravenpaw and Duckpaw planned their greatest adventure yet But in the early hours of the morning that they were planning to sneak out, Robinpaw confronted them. Duckpaw and Ravenpaw were angry that they had been found out and believed Robinpaw wanted to snitch on them again, but to their surprise, it turned out that Robinpaw wanted to sneak out with them. They were surprised, but glad at least that their plot hadn't been exposed to the rest of TreeClan like last time. So the three apprentices sneaked out, and Ravenpaw and Duckpaw revealed that their plan was to go to StarClan's Claws so they could have a gathering of their own. Robinpaw agreed, to Duckpaw's surprise.
They followed the brook towards StarClan's claws, through the dark forest. The scent of the other Clans still lingered in the air, and all over the grass as well. Duckpaw was feeling uncertain, but Ravenpaw was as confident as ever, and Duckpaw didn't want his brother to think he was a coward. Following the water, they came to where the brook widened out into a fierce river. A damaged tree dipped over the water, and Ravenpaw decided that this was the perfect moment for him to show off. He jumped up onto the tree, and walked out right over the water. He dared his siblings to do the same. Duckpaw immediately leaped up onto the wood, but Robinpaw hesitated. Ravenpaw jeered at her until finally she hauled herself up onto the dying tree. Ravenpaw was annoyed that she had found the courage to prove him wrong, and he began to climb further out onto a weak branch. The branch was wet with waterspray, and Ravenpaw lost his grip. When he hit the water, the shock of the cold water immediately stunned him. Dazed, he panicked in the water and struggled to keep his head above the water.
Neither Robinpaw nor Duckpaw could swim, so they leaped down onto the shore and called out to Ravenpaw. His paws numb from the cold, Ravenpaw was barely able to hold his chin high enough to breathe. He paddled closer to the shore, and Robinpaw and Duckpaw both dragged him out by the scruff. When they finally did, Ravenpaw was silent and shivering, matted like a drowned rat. He tried to speak to them, but his words were slurred and indiscernible. He seemed sleepy and confused. Robinpaw and Duckpaw tried to convince him to stand up, but he slumped over and appeared to slip into a drowsy sleep. When Robinpaw shook him, he didn't stir. Robinpaw and Duckpaw lay on either side of the dark tom, trying to keep him warm, but the cold of his flesh seemed to simply spread from him to her. She shivered. Then froze. The thin whisps of breath that had puffed from Ravenpaw's lips had vanished. Robinpaw scrambled to her paws and shook him as hard as she could, but he didn't budge.
She froze. She had no idea what to do to help him. Duckpaw screamed at her to get help, but she didn't budge. Eventually, Duckpaw abandoned his sister with his brother and ran to get help. He returned with startled TreeClan warriors, who were stunned that Duckpaw and his siblings had even managed to get past the guards. Robinpaw was still frozen at Ravenpaw's side. The warriors carried Ravenpaw back to camp with Duckpaw and Robinpaw in tow. When they finally reached the camp, the older cats in the Clan softly told Duckpaw and Robinpaw that their brother was gone, he had been cold for too long and there was nothing they could do. Duckpaw began wailing, but Robinpaw just stood there gawking, as though she hadn't just been told their brother was dead.
Lionstar took both Duckpaw and Robinpaw aside to tell them off for sneaking out to StarClan's claws, but he believed Robinpaw and Duckpaw had been punished enough by the loss of their brother. Several moons have passed since Ravenpaw's accidental death and burial. Duckpaw and Robinpaw rarely spoke afterwards, as Duckpaw blamed Ravenpaw's death on her not wanting to get help. All his focus is on his apprenticeship right now, and where his paws will bring him after that.
