Dusk that Shrouds the Forest Home is when you're right where you should be Prey-Hunter, 66 Moons They called it the Time of Freed Water; the name itself was a mouthful, but Dusk could see that it was fitting. The channels of icy, sluggish water flowing through their mountain home were no longer bloated and slow. Dusk faintly thought of RainClan when the soft hush of currents overlapped the sound of his pawsteps on stone.
To him though, the season would always be Greenleaf.
Dusk greedily welcomed the rays of sunlight on his pelt, his shadow reaching the mouth of the cave before his whiskers even got through the entrance. A fat starling was in his grasp, black feathers mingling with black fur. A couple of Tribe elders blinked sleepily at him, and as always, Dusk had to keep his well-trained paws from going right towards them.
In the Tribe, everyone ate together. There was no great emphasis placed on elders, though kit-mothers were shown a bit more favor. Saying soft goodbyes to the rest of his hunting party, Dusk vowed to be ready when the lead Prey-Hunter took them out again in a few hours.
It was just after dawn, and Dusk felt the pressing urge to shut his eyes, to curl up and let the day pass him by. Exercising a little of NightClan's fabled stealth, Dusk slipped in among the sleping Tribe until he found his way to his nest - thne one next to Snow's. It was frequently occupied by the three kits they'd rescued; they had a kit-mother to watch them, but that didn't stop Dawn, Stone and Splash from snuggling into Dusk's or Snow's nest for extra comfort. It put a strange, indescribable warmth in Dusk's breast, some sort of feeling between joy and gratitude.
The prey-hunter let out a soft purr, identifying the little bundle of fur and whiskers amongst his bedding as Splash. Dusk curled up around her small tortoiseshell-tabby form, just about to put his head down when he thought he felt her stir.

The quiet breaths of the sleeping prey-hunters around them were a comforting ambience to Splash's sleep, however broken it was. Every so often she would wake and stare into the gloom, enjoying the warmth and comfort of all the sleeping forms scattered throughout the stone-walled den. Her thick pelt was usually firmly pressed against Dawn's side, with Stone's nose only just tipping off her tail. But tonight, she was alone, among the scattered feathers of Dusk's nest. Splash lay her chin back down on the edge of the downy nest, closing her eyes in contentment. But she couldn't return to sleep, no matter how soft the feathered bedding was or how comforted the smell of it made her feel. Her mind churned with wakefulness. When she half-opened her eyes again, she saw a form silhouetted against the entrance. The tom slunk into the den on silent paws, his dark smoke and red pelt becoming one with the shadows around him. She would have been afraid, but she knew who it was. She could taste his familiar scent on her tongue. He smelled like the mountains, with the sharp aroma of freshly killed prey.
She heard the quietest purr rising up from his chest, and knew that had she been asleep, it wouldn't have woken her. She was still, wondering if she should just pretend to be asleep until she really was. He settled into the nest, curling around her gracefully and without disturbing her. She lifted her head, still somewhat groggy from only just waking up. โHi.โ She mewled, giving up on pretending to sleep. Her eyes glowed in the semi-light of the early morning.

Dusk that Shrouds the Forest Home is when you're right where you should be Prey-Hunter, 66 Moons Dusk touched his nose to Splash's, purring less softly now that there was no danger of waking her. "Hi. Did you sleep well?" Blue-green eyes flicked past Splash's fluffy kitten ears to the soft feather-and-leaf nest containing Dawn and Stone. My other kits. That thought alone sent his stomach into a whirlpool of parental nerves and delight. Here was the family he'd never dreamed of; it made so much sense, now, why he'd never really settled down with a she-cat before this point.
In the back of his mind, there was always this fear of passing on his weirdness to his potential offspring; maybe it was something to do with his tortoiseshell coloring - so far, the only tortoiseshells he'd ever met were she-cats - or maybe it was something else entirely, but the anxiety of inflicting his fainting sickness on innocent kits had paralyzed him for moons.
But these kits? They were perfect. They looked at him as though he was their father and always had been - and Dusk eagerly embraced them with every inch of his being. Though the Prey-Hunter desired a nap, he yearned for memories more. "Would you like to go outside for a little while? Dip your paws in the pool or just feel the sunshine on your fur." Dusk almost wanted to let the comforting sensation of lying down lull him into a nap - but that look in Splash's eyes was one he recognized too well to possibly ignore.
She was awake and brimming with curiosity, and Dusk relished the chance to spend some time with her before the rest of the Tribe fully woke.
"As long as you're quiet, and stay close to me, we'll have nothing to worry about." he cautioned gently, slowly rising back onto all fours with a soft toss of his pelt to get any leaf bits free. "Uncle Dark will keep an eye out for raptors."

"Hi. Did you sleep well?" He whispered to her, before glancing across at Stone and Dawn, who snored peacefully nearby. The little kit felt peaceful, even now that she was as far from sleepy as she could get. She could still taste the tundra hare on her tongue, the one that she had shared with Snow, Stone and Dawn the previous evening. "Stone snores like a mountain lion." Splash snickered. "But yeah, I slept good." She could smell blood on his breath, and knew that he'd been hunting. She wondered what it might be like to hunt, and if she would ever have the patience and swiftness to be a prey-hunter like Dusk and Snow.
Dusk surprised her with his next words. "Would you like to go outside for a little while? Dip your paws in the pool or just feel the sunshine on your fur?" He offered. Splash felt excitement bloom in her round eyes. "Yes!" She immediately blurted out, then slapped her white paws over her mouth. She looked cautiously over at Dawn, Stone and Snow, who were thankfully undisturbed by her outburst. Relieved, Splash scrambled to her paws and bounced out of the nest, her tail furling in anticipation. She felt spoiled, and she was. Going outside was a rare treat. "Uncle Dark will keep an eye out for raptors." At the mention of raptors, Splash shuddered. She had heard the stories of the massive birds that could pluck cats into the skies.

Gentle, soft images filled the grey kit's mind as he slept burrowed under his adopted mother's fur. Images of love, images of family, and images of friendship. Stone could not help but to purr loudly as he slept, warm and content.
A familiar uncanny image entered his dream. A shadow, a screech, and heart-wrenching sorrow. Just like that, Stone was ripped from his slumber, waking up with a sick feeling to his stomach. And yet he did not move, for the young kit feared he would wake Snow and Dawn. Quietly he lay, pondering why that sickly image kept reoccurring in his dreams.
As he lay thinking, Stone heard a gentle rustling accompanied by soft-spoken words. Dusk. The large grey kit strained his ears to listen to the hushed conversation, barely hearing anything until a loud "Yes!" caused him to jump ever so slightly. After a few more moments of listening, Stone opened his eyes and raised his head, catching the tail-end of his father and sister darting out of the nest. Without me?
As gently as he could, Stone heaved himself from under Snow's sleeping body and followed Dusk and Splash outside. Upon exiting the nest, the grey kit ran to catch up to the two cats. Panting slightly -- Stone was no runner -- he stopped to speak once he reached them. "An adventure without me?" He flicked his tail lovingly on his sister. "I may snore like a lion, but you kick like a hare!"

You knocked me down, but I got up "Yes!" jerked Snow out of sleep, and her head lifted, eyes blinking blearily before focusing on the tail sliding out of sight around the mouth of the cave. She cast a quick glance around, noticing that Dusk's nest was empty and that Stone and Splash, who had fallen asleep with them the night before, were gone. Their scents were still fresh, the bedding still warm, and even though she was certain they were with Dusk- and surely with Dark as well- she couldn't help the concern that drove her to follow.
She had come to care for these kits so much since finding them. The tiny orphaned kits had needed someone, and Snow had stepped up. She'd always wanted kits, and now... it didn't matter that they weren't of her blood. They were hers, and Dusk's, and she couldn't imagine giving them up now. A quick stretch and a yawn as she headed after the three, emerging from the cave into the dim morning light. A purr at Stone's retort to Splash rose in her chest, and she stopped beside the two kits to give both a lick on their cheeks.
"Good morning, little ones. Did you sleep well?" She turned her attention on Dusk next, pressing her nose to his cheek in greeting, before glancing back at Stone and Splash. Sunrise on Fallen Snow 63 Moons Prey Hunter Tribe of Forgotten Water

Dusk that Shrouds the Forest Home is when you're right where you should be Prey-Hunter, 66 Moons It wasn't long before the whole family joined them; Stone eagerly appearing beside Splash, with Snow and a very sleepy Dawn trailing in the prey-hunter's wake. Dusk purred, feeling something in his chest positively ache with happiness. Had he ever felt this content in his entire life? The tortoiseshell tom returned his mate's greeting, rubbing his jaw along her cheek before taking a second to explain. "I thought I'd take Splash outside, let her dip her paws in the pool or just get a taste of mountain air. You are all welcome, of course." Dusk's whiskers twitched warmly as he looked over their three kits. "There's always room for family."
The tortoiseshell heard a soft chuckle from a nearby prey-hunter, who made a comment in passing. "Those kits are bringing out a whole new side of you, Dusk."
Dusk beamed. "A good side, I hope." With Snow's consent, Dusk stood back and ushered for the kits to come closer, briefly touching each one on the head with his nose - both as a fatherly gesture and a soft 'good morning'. "Don't run," he cautioned gently, "dip your paws into the pool to start with. Tribe cats aren't known for swimming, if you venture too far in, I don't know what will happen."
It went without saying that he would risk his life to save them if they were truly in danger, but Dusk wanted to avoid any catastrophes on this first outing. Bad circumstances had a habit of crushing a young cat's confidence; he'd seen Splash's shudder at mention of the raptors. He didn't want any of them to associate the outside world with fear and misfortune.
Not yet.
Here, they were safe and protected.

Splash of Leaping Trout tribe of forgotten waters Splash's bright green gaze reflected the semi-dawn light as she heard the scuffle of pawsteps behind her. She barely even had to guess at who it was. Rolling her eyes with all the frustration of a sister towards her brother, she turned to face Stone. "As if you ever had any sense of adventure!" She poked her small pink tongue out at her grey littermate. "You probably think River's stories are exciting. I nearly fell over once, they put me to sleep so fast." She turned her gaze up towards Dusk, anxiety churning in her stomach. "We don't have to take him with us, right?" She complained, lashing her tail.
At his teasing, she turned back towards him with a defensive bristle. "Hey! I'll show you how hard I can kick!" With a squeal of excitement she hurled herself at her brother, lashing out with her small white paws to try and bat him over the ears. She paused in her mock playfight the moment Snow emerged from the den, asking them how they had slept. Splash purred. As much as she wanted this adventure to be her adventure alone, she did love Snow. "I slept good! Maybe when we go out we can find some more feathers for the nest?" She mewled sweetly, winding around Snow's legs, brushing her cheek up against the flame-tipped she-cat's pelt. Splash stumbled slightly on the cave floor, catching herself with a squeak.
She waved her tail happily when Dusk touched her head with his nose, but completely ignored his advice and charged across the cave floor in the direction of their destination. "Why did Uncle Dark become a cave-guard?" She asked her parents curiously. "Didn't he want to hunt prey with you, dad?"

Stone pushed his bottom lip out into an over-exaggerated pout at Splash's retort. "I do not!" Yes he did. River's stories were riveting to the young tom, but he was much more patient and much less volatile than his sister. At the sight of Snow and Dawn arriving, Stone immediately lost the pout and began to purr. The love that he had for his family was an intense one, unrivaled by any.
"Mom, tell Splash she's being mean," he complained, the humor apparent in his tone. He wasn't really bothered by Splash's attitude, but he loved to feed into it. She seemed to enjoy it, and he wanted her to be happy. More than anything.
Before he knew it, Stone was getting a lecture from Dusk on how they were to properly act once they got to the pool. Already, he could tell his sister wasn't listening. It was no issue though, for Stone would try his best to keep Splash from getting into trouble. As the biggest of the three siblings, Stone felt an innate need to protect, a need that would only grow as he aged.
Dusk had barely finished speaking before Splash bolted off towards the pool. "Hey, wait up!" he called, stumbling to his feet and lumbering on after her.
At Splash's question, which was directed towards their parents, Stone scoffed and added his own opinion. "Because being a cave guard is awesome!" Causing him to immediately backtrack. "Er.. not that being a prey hunter isn't."
