I WISH EVERYONE WAS LOVED TONIGHT
It was with a racing heart that he had nodded at Lionstar and somewhat reluctantly - he had not wanted to leave Pinkpaw's side in the wake of such an discovery - escorted Grayowl out with his three clanmates. Adrenaline had fueled him as he had kept green eyes locked on the gray figure before them, watching for any signs of aggression and trying to reconcile the tom he had known - not closely, but interacted with regardless - for his entire life with the almost-murderer Lionstar had claimed he was. It sent shivers down his spine and chilled him to the bone. Grayowl had been the one to urge him, Onyxfeather, and Crimsonshadow out of camp when they were mere kits. If Lionstar had not decided to join them, would he still be around to remember the tale and ensure the senior warrior's permanent departure from TreeClan territory? He had never been completely comfortable around the other tom, particularly when faced with his intense amber gaze, but he would never have accused him of plotting murder. He would never have accused any of his clan mates of contemplating such a horror. But surely he wouldn't have to, correct? Surely TreeClan would not unknowingly be sheltering another Grayowl? Unbidden, his thoughts turned toward the exile's kits, before he chased the thought away. It was hardly fair to place such expectations upon them for what their father had done.
Those thoughts and others of a similar nature had swirled around in his head as he watched the former senior warrior disappear into the mountains. That had been the last he would ever see of Grayowl, he hoped, though he could not help but feel some pity for the tom. Monster though he was, the life of a loner was undoubtedly an unforgiving one, particularly after living a life completely with the relative ease of a clan cat. That hardly meant he approved of the tom's actions, he sought to reassure himself, for he did not, and he believed that the punishment fit the crime. But that did not mean he couldn't find it within himself to pity those who would suffer the deserved consequences of their actions. The life of a loner was one that he would prefer to never have to lead.
With the first part of his task done, he had nodded to his clan mates as they split up and parted ways, each heading to the border of their respective clan with a request to pass on news of a certain former senior warrior's exile. So here he was, with tabby paws resting on the invisible boundary and tail flicking anxiously while he waited for a LightningClan patrol to pass. The scent marks were faint, so he did not expect to have to wait very long.
