the road i walk is paved in gold to glorify my platinum soul | [CS=2] And LightningClan really thinks that this should be their territory? Noblepaw thought, disgusted at the mousebrains that lived in that clan. The gray and white cat padded through the thinning trees, wandering lazily through the trunks. There were trees - he was walking between them - so it was obviously part of TreeClan's territory. Looking out over the open expanse of the neighboring clan's territory, he saw no trees, as expected. Shaking his head, Noblepaw turned away from the border, eyeing a nearby tree.
Now was just as good a time as any to practice his climbing. Of course, he was very good at it, just as he was with everything else, but a little more practice couldn't help. Besides, that branch looked fairly comfortable, especially as it was in a patch of sun. Leaping up with powerful hind legs, Noblepaw scratched at the tree with unsheathed claws, before digging them into the bark. He pushed himself up the tree until he reached the branch, where he walked out onto it and settled down.
The whole perspective of the area changed from a higher view point, and Noblepaw could see farther into LightningClan's territory. They had almost no cover. At all. How could they live like that? Did they not realize that that was a very mousebrained move? They were exposed to the weather so much more than his own clan was, since the trees blocked some of the harshness. However, at the same time, Noblepaw found himself realizing that he felt no surprise; he had already concluded that LightningClan was a clan of mousebrained cats. Sighing, the apprentice rested his head on his paw, looking down at the border. He froze, green eyes narrowing. Was that a figure walking along the border? And more importantly, was it TreeClan or LightningClan? | [CS=2] Words: 311 Notes: Open to either LightningClan or TreeClan, it doesn't matter. | [CS=2] i am the closest thing to god so worship me and never stop [style=font-family: palatino linotype; text-transform: lowercase; text-align: center; font-size; 5px; margin-top: -20px;]credits: don't stop by innerpartysystem cat: here |

[style=font-family:make juice; font-size:54px;]Rapidwind "So you TreeClanners just think that anythin' with bark and leaves is automatically yours, am I right?" The figure walking along the LightningClan/TreeClan border had been LightningClan after all, a tom who was short of stature but not short of muscle or attitude, Rapidwind yowling up to the TreeClan apprentice who'd gotten himself nice and cozy. "Don't they teach you kits some manners over there? Considering they're all noble and whatever," his speech was momentarily interrupted with a yawn, the LightningClan warrior stretching out his front limbs in a typical cat-stretch. It was getting chillier now, and he was fortunate that his thicker coat was starting to come in, and hopefully would do more than just fight the cold. It would hopefully make him look a little less small compared to that brawny wall of muscle with legs, his best friend Blazehawk.
If Rapidwind had been itching for a fight and the TreeClan tom before him had been a fully-fledged warrior, he probably would've climbed up the tree Noblepaw was in and dragged the apprentice out of it, to send him yowling back to his mother back in TreeClan but Rapidwind was a cat of integrity. He could never do something so cold. ...well, alright, there were no guarantees.

the road i walk is paved in gold to glorify my platinum soul | [CS=2] As it turned out, the lithe figure he had seen was indeed a LightningClan cat. Watching the other draw closer, Noblepaw studied the feline, noting that it was decidedly male. Rather small, but he looked full-grown, since he had none of that lingering, residual kit fur. And it was the way he walked, too. Noblepaw had noticed that warrior had this way of walking; it usually oozed competence and strength, something he was working on perfecting. Though it was there, this tom had only scrapings of that capability. He is LightningClan, after all, Noblepaw reasoned, So I have to lower my standards.
Keeping an uninterested expression on his face, the apprentice saw that the other tom intended to get the first word in. He waited to see what the LightningClan cat had to say. An ear flicked at the words. Noblepaw was not impressed, and the warrior's comments only reaffirmed his believe in the brainlessness of the neighboring clan. "Well, considering that I am the one in the tree and you are not," He sneered in response, "I would say that this tree is currently mine. And I am of TreeClan, as you so nicely observed. I congratulate you on that." Noblepaw paused to lick a paw, before looking back down at the warrior, somehow managing to keep his expression relatively polite. "Besides, we do have 'tree' in our name. It implies that our territory is made up of trees - it's called a forest - and said forest includes this tree that I'm in and all others around it."
Throughout his retort, the apprentice retained his lazy posture and an air of amusement. Really, if the warrior's comments were supposed to be offensive, they had fallen very short of that mark. In light of his recent revelations about LightningClan, Noblepaw felt very mature and confident. He paused now, for a moment, considering the second question. "I will let Distantstar know that LightningClan thinks us noble," the apprentice made to reassure the tom. "I speak for all of TreeClan, I think, when I thank you for that compliment. As for you question," He paused, "They do in fact teach us manners. It depends on whether or not I feel like using them that's the question. I could very well ask you the same, in any case." | [CS=2] Words: 408 Notes: --- | [CS=2] i am the closest thing to god so worship me and never stop [style=font-family: palatino linotype; text-transform: lowercase; text-align: center; font-size; 5px; margin-top: -20px;]credits: don't stop by innerpartysystem cat: here |

[style=font-family:make juice; font-size:54px;]Rapidwind Breathe. Breathe. Don't get upset. He's just an annoying apprentice. BREEAAATHE. Nope, nope, couldn't do it. Rapidwind's face twisted up into a sneer, one of his yellow eyes twitching with the force of him holding himself back from climbing the tree (he was never much of a climber) and thrashing the daylights out of the apprentice. "Now you listen here you bandy-legged, leaf-brained little kit, the only reason you TreeClanners call yourselves 'TreeClan' is so you don't forget where your home is!" Crowed Rapidwind, mocking the young apprentice with an almost gleeful, agitated look in his eyes. "If you guys named yourselves SunClan, you'd panic every time the moon comes out." The silver tom laid down on his side, his shoulders and head lifted up off the ground, eyes narrowed into cocky slits. "Ah well, what can you expect from a Clan full of cats with acorns for brains and all the courage of a clump of dried leaves." Rapidwind spat into the grass, lazily flicking his tail - though his blood was pumping hard beneath his pelt.

the road i walk is paved in gold to glorify my platinum soul | [CS=2] Bandy-legged, leaf-brained little kit...? Honestly, Noblepaw was not impressed. Even if the insult, in the loosest sense of the word, had come from one of his clan mates, it would have done little harm. But from a LightningClan cat, it was beyond pathetic, and a warrior at that. Leaf-brained? Did he not know that the term was mouse-brained? It interested Noblepaw to see how easily he could anger the older tom, and he decided that he wanted to continue, even if it became detrimental to his health. The apprentice was very confident in his fighting abilities, after all, but he was pretty sure that this would remain a battle of wit and words.
Ignoring the TreeClan insult, Noblepaw responded, "So what does that theory say about you then? LightningClan: you must panic every time there is not any lightning, like on this lovely day." He paused, as if considering something. "You know, I think that explains a lot. What else could explain your desire to live in open spaces, out in the open and vulnerable to the weather?" His tail flicked, and he pressed on, "But at least we have brains and courage, even if they are, as you say, made of acorns and dried leaves. However, considering your lack of said brain, I have to doubt the validity of your comment." | [CS=2] Words: 242 Notes: -- | [CS=2] i am the closest thing to god so worship me and never stop [style=font-family: palatino linotype; text-transform: lowercase; text-align: center; font-size; 5px; margin-top: -20px;]credits: don't stop by innerpartysystem cat: here |

[style=font-family:make juice; font-size:54px;]Rapidwind Rapidwind rolled his eyes, letting out his signature raspy mew of a laugh. "Oh yeah, I'm really panickin', TreeClanner. See me running away in terror?" He made a big show of grooming his pelt in a nonchalant fashion, his ears rotating to catch the sounds of the forest and one particularly big-mouthed apprentice. Brainless am I? You're so lucky I'm a nice guy, kitten, otherwise I'd smack you so hard your ancestors would feel it! "We like open spaces because we don't need to hide who we are and where we are," drawled Rapidwind, eyes glistening with a humorous irritation. It was difficult for him to handle insults - either towards himself, his Clan, or Dovesong. Of course, no one ever insulted Dovesong, but if they did... They'd be meeting StarClan sooner than they planned. "It's our little way of saying 'wanna fight with us? You know where we are' - and we also feel closer to StarClan, with less trees to block our view of Silverpelt, though I doubt you'd understand that last part." For some reason, Rapidwind didn't think this youngster was particularly spiritual. Rapidwind was accepting of the concept of StarClan, he liked the idea of his warrior ancestors looking down on him and whispering words of encouragement when he needed it most.

the road i walk is paved in gold to glorify my platinum soul | [CS=2] Something strong crashed over Noblepaw, piercing the even stronger sense of superiority that had overcome him, and it took him a moment to give the unfamiliar feeling a name. He had not become very aquainted with it, as digust usually overrode it, but the apprentice had felt it before. Pity. Part of him was surprised at its appearance, as he had grown accustomed to the usual distaste that formed in this kind of situation. But that was gone. Instead, he pitied LightningClan and this warrior. Does he really think that he's hurting me? The other cat would not appreciate the pained expression that flitted across Noblepaw's features if he knew the real cause behind it. If this is what LightningClan has to offer... Really, he makes even Littlepaw look competent.
"I can see that you have no desire to hide who you really are," The apprentice drawled lazily. "But have you considered that it may be better if you did? For the greater good, you know. A noble cause." As for the fighting part, Noblepaw felt confident that he could find this tom even if he chose not to stand out in the open. One would just have to follow his LightningClan stench. StarClan knew it was strong enough. "Careful," He meowed, as though trying to soothe and warn an angry kit. "You make it sound as though LightningClan is looking for a fight. We wouldn't want that to happen, now would we? After all, we all know where you are, as you so aptly pointed out." If the warrior's fighting abilities were as horrendous as his insulting ones and the rest of his clan's were just as bad, LightningClan really could not afford to be attacked. Just some advice on his part, from a friendly neighbor. | [CS=2] Words: 316 Notes: --- | [CS=2] i am the closest thing to god so worship me and never stop [style=font-family: palatino linotype; text-transform: lowercase; text-align: center; font-size; 5px; margin-top: -20px;]credits: don't stop by innerpartysystem cat: here |

[style=font-family:make juice; font-size:54px;]Rapidwind "Ooh, TreeClan preaching about noble causes? Oh spare me." Replied Rapidwind as the silver warrior rolled onto his side, as though Noblepaw's words were like nettles in a nest of moss, uncomfortably pricking him at every turn. Unable to stay laying down for long, the silver tom was up on his paws in an instant, head bobbing as he licked flat the handsome fur on his chest, the shadows of the trees making it appear darker than it actually was. What a mouth on this one, eh? Rapidwind silently wished Blazehawk was here with him, then they could mock this apprentice from here to StarClan with their combined cynicism and holier-than-thou attitude. But it was going to be a solo show, looks like. I'd love to knock this kitten down a few pegs. Rapidwind's yellow eyes narrowed, and he looked up at Noblepaw, half-curious, half-annoyed.
"What's a little half-pint apprentice doing out here anyway? Did you lose your mentor, or did the stench of TreeClan's cowardice chase you out of the camp?" Getting a little tired of having Noblepaw look down on him, the silver warrior began to climb the tree, his muscular, compact build put to use to something other than fighting as he ascended to the same branch the gray and white apprentice was presently occupying. He could see why he chose it - the sunlight was hitting it juuuust right. Rapidwind snorted.

the road i walk is paved in gold to glorify my platinum soul | [CS=2] Noblepaw was too shocked by the warrior's actions to immediately respond to his words. That cat was climbing his tree! That cat had the audacity to climb his tree! His tree! The tree he had been in first. That cat had no right to climb it, not while he was in it, or perhaps even ever. To make matters worse, it was a rude, useless, pathetic LightningClan cat. His fur bristled, and green eyes watched the other tom for a moment, flexing his claws and debating whether or not it would be worth it to rip the other tom's fur off. Pros? There would be one less lousy LightningClan cat to populate the clans, and it would give him a lot of satisfaction. Cons? He was already on Lionstep's, and no doubt Distantstar's as well, watch lists for attacking the mouse-brained little apprentice. He really could not afford anymore strikes if he wanted to become a warrior on time. Noblepaw grumbled under his breath as he turned in order to keep his eyes on the warrior.
"My business is my own, thank you very much," He snapped in a delayed response to the question, once he reigned in his anger enough so that he would not claw the other tom to bits. "But if you must know, it was the unusual stench of idiocy that brought me out here; of course, I was worried, so I came here to check it out. Only I realized that the wind is very strong today, and I must be getting scents from deep inside LightningClan territory. Or it could just be you." Noblepaw yawned and sheathed his claws, tail flicking lightly as he shifted so that he could see the warrior. "What're you doing up here? Going to attack me?" | [CS=2] Words: I be too lazy-- Notes: -- | [CS=2] i am the closest thing to god so worship me and never stop [style=font-family: palatino linotype; text-transform: lowercase; text-align: center; font-size; 5px; margin-top: -20px;]credits: don't stop by innerpartysystem cat: here |
