Frozensong chittered quietly as she gazed up at the sky. The moon was huge and glowed an unsettling reddish color, calling to mind near-forgotten visions of Rushwhisker’s patched tabby fur stained with Swanfeather’s blood. It made her uneasy, and she shifted from paw to paw as she waited with the growing group of cats. She had been tapped earlier in the day, Russethawk effectively communicating that she should get some rest. By now, she knew that resting during the day meant a trip at nightfall, and both the large number of cats and the full moon meant that they were heading to the stone spires at the center of the valley. The other Clans would be there, and they would mingle, a thousand scents mixing together in the night.
Before long, Silverstar appeared to take the helm, and at his signal, the gathered cats headed toward the Gathering place. Frozensong fell into step somewhere at the middle of the group, pale green eyes catching on a familiar ruddy pelt. The sight of her adopted daughter headed to her fist Gathering sent a small jolt of excitement through her, and she truly hoped the young apprentice would have a good time, despite the ominous moon above. As they entered the clearing, Frozensong cast another wary glance above. Though the moon still looked like a bad omen, the sky was otherwise clear. She hoped that was good enough to cancel out the energy the moon lent the night.
Being the first to arrive, the cats of RainClan had to sit and wait before the others started to appear. Frozensong started scanning each group as they arrived, seeking out familiar pelts, but stopped as she fixated on a tortoiseshell she-cat. The RainClan warrior leapt to her paws and trotted across the clearing, weaving between the settling RainClan and NightClan cats and the arriving TreeClan cats. Her eyes never left her friend's pelt, and she called out as she drew close. "Mrrow!" She was a little too loud, and earned a glare from a nearby tom, but she shook it off with ease. She waved her tail as she bounded up to Silentsong, unable to contain the rumbling purr from her chest. She stepped forward, pressing her ear to the TreeClan warrior's chest. She failed to silence her purr long enough to feel her heartbeat, though, and pulled back, having to accept that it was there even if she couldn't hear it. Silentsong looked very much alive and well; she didn't have to prove it again, right?
