The Langourous
The Langourous
[attr="class","charactertext"]
Flameriver's size is not the average tom, his length at about twenty-one inches from head to tail and sixteen inches in height. He often has a bit of a belly, savoring food at its best. More so during the winter, so don't worry, he typically shapes himself out for new-leaf and green-leaf, but is a wonderful cuddle-bug. Flameriver knows it's important to remain slim, but occasionally, he can't help himself. The voluminous male carries a stoic gaze, as if it's piercing right through an object or someone. Don't be fooled though, he is nothing but harmless and gentle. Covered in thick, dense fur, he is velutinous to the touch. Flameriver's pelage is a sharp, vibrant marmalade layered with deeper spotted and mackerel patterns of bronze. The tomcat's abdomen, chest, throat, paws, and the lower half of his face is snow white, kept clean by his jagged tongue and water sources within the territory. His claws are jagged and a few different sizes, some sharper or duller than others. His tail is ginger, though ringed with three ginger rings before the tip of his tail which is white. Flameriver's legs are covered in marmalade-orange with rusty mackerel striping.
Flameriver, despite his bland, intimidating gaze, he is very easy to socialize with. His amiable and empathetic nature makes it simple for others to get along with and feel comfortable around him. He enjoys conversing and socializing, able to emphasize with others as well, considering he's been social ever since he could speak and see. He carefully observes and utilizes others emotions and movements in order to emphasize and issue what is going on. Flameriver adores helping others with their emotions and talking things through, occasionally tossing advice if he figures it's right. The tom is willing to take large risks, even if it involves his life on the line. Flameriver will do just about anything to protect his clan, and especially family. Though, he technically sees the clan as his family, even if they aren't actually blood-related. This venturesome feline wouldn't ever turn a thing down, for the sake of the clan. Flameriver is a very considerate feline, making sure that if he makes the mistake of hurting another; to make it up to them anyway possible. He does whatever it takes to make up for his mistakes. The ginger tabby takes precaution when giving advice or conversing in general, out of fear of hurting someone emotionally or mentally. He puts others' feelings into deep consideration.
Forgiving. Maybe too forgiving, often. Despite his compulsive acts on the downside, Flameriver is quick to forgive. He gets over situations relatively quickly, not wanting to draw attention to something or have drama. Drama isn't for Flameriver. He hates it. If the apology goes well enough, Flameriver is willing to befriend, though, often times, he will only speak to another as an acquaintance. The feline is well aware of his skill, proud about any accomplishments that are achieved, as he believes he finishes duties successfully and efficiently. His pride isn't easily discouraged, and he will continue to hold himself to it. Anything that is his or he does, it is something to be proud of. Flameriver is known to have his own thoughts and doubts on situations and whatnot, finding him to be a skeptical cat. His dubiousness has always been around since he was a kit, skeptical of new felines and as he aged, loners and rogues were foes. He becomes impassive around loners and rogues, instigating the circumstances as much as he can. Many come to see that Flameriver is unambitious, not entirely motivated by anything but his pride. The tomcat prefers to hold a good impression, striving for what he can do, and that's it. He has no wild ambitions, going with the flow of life as it is.
Flameriver occasionally has these compulsions, when it comes to a loner or rogue. For some reason, the feline is disgusted by them. Abruptly, his mood can shift on the sight of a loner, becoming compulsive and mawkish toward them, especially if they're mouthy and corrupt with words and actions. He doesn't like loners or rogues, but the malevolent ones always get the best of him. Flameriver comes off as foolish and unstable when he gets like this, wanting to tear another to shreds, but he'd never dare harm a cat of his clan. He gets like this due to being volatile, simply meaning he is short-tempered. Flameriver's emotions shift rapidly, from pure joy to bloody rage can be seen within moments in the flash of his eyes. His physique will become tense and wildly if furious. These round of emotions cause Flameriver to become vulnerable, feeling sensitive after these tantrums. He is sensitive when it comes to constructive criticism, attempting not to be susceptible to being hypocritical if he ever thought about criticizing someone else. He allows himself to open up to others easily, letting others know how to get to him which may not be good for him if someone decides to stab him in the back for any reason.

Backstory
TO DISCOVER YOURSELF,
YOU MUST LOSE YOURSELF FIRST.
YOU MUST LOSE YOURSELF FIRST.
◉ BIRTH
Cedarfrost and Quickbrance, a destined pair. Why was that? Cedarfrost's and Quickbranch's very own parents had decided to have these kits in order to pass on larger-size in genetics. Not only that, but the beautiful eye coloration the family carries, ranging from vibrant greens to deep amber. The family is an attractive one, having different variety of color and build. Cedarfrost and Quickbranch had their kits at a decent age, being around thirty moons for their first litter. Born in the litter had been a ginger and white tabby tom, a black tom, and a calico she-cat. Cedarfrost and Quickbranch were quick to decide names, being Flamekit for his fiery orange pelage, Newtkit for his dark coloration, and Squirrelkit for her diminutive size and feathery tail.
◉ KITHOOD
Flamekit was the timid cat of the two. He would often take coaxing to get him to explore like Squirrelkit. Squirrelkit was reckless, charging around blindly, always wondering what was around the corner. Newtkit was a reserved kit, curious of the world around him. Though Flamekit was curious just as any young cat, he was more cautious than his rambunctious sister. However, whilst Squirrelkit was harsh and moody, Flamekit quickly learnt to be gentler, due to his overpowering size. When his siblings would attack at their full power, Flamekit would not. He feared he might harm his siblings, after the many warnings his parents had given him. When they finally reached six moons, it was Squirrelkit who was most excited. This wasn’t to say that Flamekit wasn’t ecstatic to be made an apprentice. It simply meant that he was able to hide it better than his sister, who quite nearly vibrated in place. Flamekit was given Breezeflight as a mentor, a senior warrior of TreeClan. Some feared the aging she-cat was too old to mentor another apprentice, and though Flamekit would be her last apprentice, she proved to the Clan that and old cat can push through until the very end. Some young cats might have been jealous when their siblings received younger warriors as their mentor, but Flamepaw didn’t seem to mind at all.
◉ APPRENTICESHIP
Breezeflight was a very patient she-cat, who carefully explained each battle move, and each hunting technique to her apprentice, who proved to be a very technical cat. He had a tendency to ask a lot of questions, and preferred to know the whole process before trying it out himself. It meant that their training sessions tended to be longer than others, and he learnt slower than the others, but once the young sandy tom got it, he got it. Breezeflight was thrilled with the progress her apprentice would make, even if his siblings had learnt what he did two days before. She was never discouraged, and in turn, he was never discouraged.
When he was ten moons old, the Leafbare was particularly harsh. The medicine cat had begun to suspect there might be something wrong with Newtpaw, as he would often have difficulty breathing after hard training sessions. It became blindingly clear when Newtpaw fell extremely ill once the cold rolled in. He spent six days in the medicine cat den, and Flamepaw could only watch horrified as his little brother’s body would be raked by horrible coughs that sounded as though the black tom was choking. On the sixth night, Newtpaw was hit by a particularly hard bought of coughing. Flamepaw watched as his brother’s green eyes widened suddenly. It took the sandy tom a moment to realize that he had stopped breathing. Newtpaw thrashed wildly, his mouth agape, desperate for air, but none came to him. His lungs had filled with fluid, and the young tom passed away before he could be made a warrior.
It was hard on the whole family, and though Newtpaw's passing left a heavy feeling in Flamepaw's chest, he knew that his brother was with StarClan now, where he could live without the pains of his illness. Squirrelpaw, however, did not take it so well. She began to grow more and more aggressive in her training, and Breezeflight and Flamepaw both could see that her recklessness had only grown. She seemed to disregard her life completely. This would be proven later on in her life. obviously, their parents...they'd been devastated as well. For two moons, it was the same. Squirrelpaw was pushing herself too far, Flamepaw doing his best to understand the lessons Breezeflight taught him. And then the day they were named warriors. Flamepaw became Flameriver and Squirrelpaw became Squirrelfoot.

◉ WARRIORHOOD
Their first challenge wasted no time in appearing. Flameriver was on a stroll with Squirrelfoot, Breezeflight, Icestream, Bitterflight, Cedarfrost and Quickbranch. It was a walk of friends and family. The air was light around them as they joked and laughed. All but Icestream. The group split slightly, heading off to hunt. Flameriver had dropped low to hunt a nearby mouse, when a shriek caught his attention. It was a familiar voice. He took off as fast as he could in the direction of the cry, in time to see a fox grab his mentor and shake her mercilessly. Flameriver through himself at the creature, even though he knew it was too late to save Breezeflight. The fox turned its attention on him now. As it charge towards him, Flameriver did his best to avoid the attacks, calling out loudly to alert his family. He could hear them charging towards him, calling his name. Suddenly, the fox lunged, and Flameriver rose up on his hind legs. The moment he did, he knew he had committed a fatal mistake. He tried to stagger back, out of range, but the fox’s large claws managed to hit him. Most of the wounds were harmless scratches, but one claw managed to dig deeper than the others, cutting him from the chest to just before his stomach. Just as he collapsed and things began to fade, Flameriver made out a shrieking sound. He would learn later that it had been his sister as she and his parents charged the fox.
By some miracle, Flameriver survived his injuries. However, he was in the medicine den for many moons. He learnt that his family had managed to chase the fox away, and though they had managed to get Flameriver back alive, Breezeflight had not made it. His wounds began healing slowly, and movement was hard for him. He risked tearing his wound open once more. During his time in the medicine den, he was powerless in the death of both his father and almost his sister in the same battle. Just as he had expected, Squirrelfoot and attacked blindly once the fox killed her father. His mother, Quickbranch was devastated, understandably, as was he. He felt useless, trapped in the den.
Slowly, he began to be able to move again. He was told that he had been lucky. Though the wound had bled a lot, it had not been deep enough to cause death. Still, he was warned it would take moons to heal, and he knew it. By four moons, he could move without pain. He began to practice, but it was slow, and careful. He wouldn’t go back to his full force until ten moons later. It was all out of caution. His wound turned into a scar, and at twenty-three moons old, Flameriver began to retrain himself. After two moons, he was back and ready to continue. His mother had since retired to the elder’s den, partially due to her rising age, partially due to a freak accident that blinded her. No one knows what happened, as she cannot remember. She was found unconscious and bleeding from her face and paws. She had minor injuries on her paw, but her eyes were now completely useless. Flameriver visited his now blind mother everyday, helping her to readjust to her new life without sight. Flameriver was given his first apprentice at the age of 26 moons. Thunderpaw was a rather excitable tom, whom was given to Flameriver in hopes that the older tom would be able to calm him down a little bit. Flameriver learnt, through this, just how much he enjoyed being able to teach, and tell of his experiences. Thunderpaw always seemed excited to hear about what he had to say. They were good for each other, Flameriver passing on his calmer ways, and Thunderpaw keeping Flameriver's mind occupied from the stress he had endured since becoming a warrior
The training sessions...he never made simple. He'd hide, and climb trees and have Thunderpaw track Flameriver down. The training for fighting was probably the hardest, as Flameriver would go hard on the younger feline, making sure that Thunderpaw would be as skilled as Flameriver was in battle as well. Hunting: Well, that wasn't easy for the both of them but in the process, working together, both toms learned to hunt. After moons of training the young apprentice, Thunderpaw had his warrior ceremony, being renamed Thunderspirit, for his personality. Flameriver had somewhat changed Thunderspirit into a more reserved yet energetic cat. It was strange, but unique. Thunderspirit and Flameriver, two peas in a pod. Eventually, leaf-fall turned to leafbare, the days would grow colder and colder by the week. Flameriver, himself had a hard time fighting off the illnesses that started to come. However, during this time, TreeClan was running low on warriors, considering felines were getting sick, even though they were the powerful allegiance at the time. Flameriver was one who remained healthy, so he'd helped train another apprentice of TreeClan. He trained another feline named Briarpaw. This she-cat was sarcastic and moody, but Flameriver learned patience this way, and he wouldn't mind that later on, as it would of course, come in handy.
The season was rough, but Flameriver pulled through, making sure training sessions were difficult, but not too difficult to the point where he'd wear out the apprentice, or cause her to get sick or fatigued. The sessions made this young apprentice successful, and she was eventually named Briarstrike, for her amazing skill in battle, and her hard strikes. Apprenticing two apprentice in a mere few moons may have been seen as admirable and honorable, but Flameriver showed little care for his accomplishments, just stepping through life as it went on.

◉ PRESENT DAY
Flameriver has struggled to come to terms with himself, considering he'd left behind a few friends in TreeClan, now known as GorgeClan. The feline he'd thought about the most was Robinflight, a mademoiselle of GorgeClan who he desired to make amends with. It was unfortunate the way their most recent encounter had gone. Frustrated with himself, he isn't sure what to do. MistClan doesn't feel like home, but he left to join his family, who wished to merge into MistClan.
