Owlmind LightningClan || 66 Moons || Deputy/Queen The day had been hot, the ground cracking under-paw and the moorland grasses growing dry and brittle. While the gray coated feline didn't have much luck on the open grasslands, she did managed to snag a few fresh-kill catches underground in the extensive tunnel networks on Lightningclan's territory.
The newly named deputy had been up and about all day, from the time the sun had just started to rise within the sky beyond the mountains. Patrols had been set in order, both border and hunting, and she had managed to observe a few training sessions between apprentices and their mentors. Lightningpaw had been returned to her care once the senior warrior had returned to warrior duties, though they didn't train together today.
Returning home with her catch, Owlmind gave a nod to the warrior who sat guard by the entrance. A rabbit and a field mice hanging from her jaws, paws leading her towards the fresh-kill pile, where she deposited the mouse. Squeaks and mews pulled her attention away from scanning the clearing. Wide amber eyes rested upon two of her three kits wrestling each other playfully outside the nursery, Cloudyfeather watching them while sunning.
Giving a final look around the camp, Owlmind picked up her rabbit and made her way towards where her kits were. Goosekit and Greenkit were the two rolling around, Goldenkit must have been napping inside the nursery. Cloudyfeather lifted her head slightly before rolling over and standing to greet her new deputy with a quick dip of her head, which the gray warrior returned after setting down the fresh-kill.
"Goldenkit is with Quailfoot." Cloudyfeather purred softly, giving an affectionate glance at the other two kits from Owlmind's litter. "They've been well behaved as always." The deputy gave a mew of thanks as the permanet queen slipped back inside the nursery for a nap. Those wide amber pools turned to look at the gray she-kit that easily resembled her and the brown and white tabby she-kit that took after their father.
"Are you hungry, my little warriors?" Owlmind asked in that signature rasp of hers, lowering herself to her belly as she flicked her tail at the rabbit next to her paws. She'd make sure to save enough delicious meat and take it to where Goldenkit and Quailfoot rested within the elder's den. After taking her own bite, letting the flavor slide down her throat with each chew, the older she-cat finally parted her maw to speak again. "Tell me about your day."
The softest hint of a purr reached Owlmind's chest as she watched her daughters with an affectionate gleam within those amber pools. Up until they were three moons she had been in the nursery with them, but she had grown restless and couldn't lay around and do nothing while her clan remained busy. At the turn of their third moon she had returned to normal warrior actives, and then was chosen as her brother's deputy when Redstar returned home with Firesky.
Despite the changes and her long days of work, Owlmind still returned to the nursery every night. She'd bring her daughters fresh-kill and listen to their stories about their days before grooming them and curling up with them within the nest. The gray she-cat would forever be grateful to both Cloudfeather, Quailfoot and Honeyheart as they watched over her kits while she was busy.

Goldenkit raised her head from Quailfoot's side, not even realizing that she had dozed off while talking to him about his time as a warrior. She opened her mouth to apologize, but noticed by the slow rise and fall of his pelt that her father too had fallen asleep. With a grin, Goldenkit inched away from Quailfoot, exiting the elder's den rear-first.
The moment her head left the den, Goldenkit was confronted by a plethora of new smells, one in particular catching her attention. Owlmind! Goldenkit's tail perked up with excitement for her family's routine of eating and talking about their days. Goldenkit was particularly looking forward to telling Owlmind how much she had learned about what being a warrior of LightningClan meant.
Upon reaching Owlmind, the young kit realized that her mother had not yet seen her due to her focus on Goldenkit's two siblings. Goldenkit knew an opportunity when she saw one. Flattening her ears and pressing her head to the ground, the fluffy kit raised her haunches and prepared to pounce.
3, 2, 1!
Goldenkit leaped up with surprising grace despite her lack of skill, landing square on top of Owlmind's back. Purring partly due to affection and partly due to pride in her "attack," Goldenkit licked the back of her mother's ear.
"If you had been a rabbit, I would have gotten you and brought you back to feed the clan!" Goldenkit was positively beaming, ready for Owlmind to regale everyone with her own tale of today's hunt. She looked down at her two sisters, the warmth in her green eyes only continuing to grow with affection. Goldenkit felt no need to address them verbally; the love in her eyes spoke volumes to the two of them. Moments like this were little snapshots of infinite happiness.

LIGHTNINGCLAN - KIT - 3 MOONS Greenkit hopped eagerly away from Goosekit as their mother approached, the tabby and white she-kit bouncing excitedly towards LightningClan's newly appointed deputy. Greenkit wasn't daft: she knew Owlmind had more responsibilities now more than ever, which made the jealous kitten terribly desperate for her mother's attention. Greenkit's eyes sparkled with happiness and her tiny maw opened to let slip a giddy reply, though before she could utter a word, Goldenkit stole the spotlight.
Greenkit's tail flicked angrily.
"Hey, leave her alone!" The she-kit squawked.
It was always like this. Goldenkit was always so...golden and good. Greenkit glanced at Goosekit, annoyance ripe in her gaze.
"I learned how to do a hunting crouch from Icefeather today!" Greenkit spoke loudly, an effort to steal Owlmind's attention from the clan's favorite kit. "Look, I'll show you!"
The tabby and white she-kit noticed a fly buzzing around, and when it landed on the dry earth, Greenkit lowered herself to the ground. Her crouch wasn't something to behold, almost mechanical, though her leap was powerful. Her prey had flown off, though she whipped around nonetheless to see her mother's reaction, only to watch as her other two littermates stole her away.
Greenkit sulked back towards the group, a ghost of a personality, a husk of a kitten as she existed emptily in the presence of her family.

G O O S E K I T Despite the temperature that morning, the sun beating down within the Lightningclan camp, Cloudyfeather had still insisted that the two sisters who laid in the Nursery went outside to play. In truth, Goosekit didn’t particularly want to play, with her sister or otherwise, but her mother had told them that when she wasn’t around, Cloudyfeather was to be obeyed. Which was what led to the “play” wrestling that had been occuring outside the Nursery.
While Greenkit had likely taken the wrestling as just simple fun, Goosekit did not. She was truly practicing. It was better to start practicing early, even though she wasn’t an Apprentice yet. Eventually, she would be a Warrior, and if she was going to be a Warrior that her mother could be proud of, she needed to learn. Being childish and just playing was for kits.
As Owlmind approached and Greenkit pushed away from her, Goosekit stood and lifted her head, dirt still dotting her ears as she looked up to her mother. But it was more than just Owlmind that she saw. Her blue eyes, slowly turning green as she grew, looked just passed her mother to find her other sister, Goldenkit, apparently trying to sneak up on their Deputy and mother. She merely watched with narrowed eyes as her sister leapt upwards, landing on their mother’s back. She merely shook her head.
“Not much of a catch if someone else finds the prey before you do, ” she stated, a slight growl to her voice that she must have inherited from her mother, for it came naturally. But before she could even attempt to answer their mother’s request, Greenkit stepped forward and announced that she had learned a hunting move from another Warrior. She watched unamused as her tabby sister showed off her stalking towards a fly. But when she failed to catch the insect, she did something that Goosekit saw often: she got depressed. Moping back over to the rest of the family, her sudden spark of energy disappeared.
“Quit being so dramatic, ” she growled, shaking her head. She looked upwards at Owlmind, flicking her tail behind her. “Cloudyfeather told us some stories most of the morning. Then we came out to practice our fighting.”

Owlmind LightningClan || 66 Moons || Deputy The gray feline ever observant, was always well aware of what happened around her or within the clan. Her kits were no exception, especially since she had birthed them and watched their personalities blood within their three moons of life. It had only been recently that she no longer stayed all day within the comfort of the nursery and it had only been recently that she had ascended to title of deputy under her brother's leadership.
All three of her kits had completely different personalities, while complementary in some ways they also had difficulties being compatible at times. Their dynamic would shift throughout their life, but the senior warrior always hoped they had each other's back no matter what happened. They were sisters after all, and they had a strong bond whether any of them knew it or not.
With her wide golden gaze upon Greenkit and Goosekit, the deputy was aware that her third and oldest daughter was creeping up as the smallest brush of a breeze brought her familiar scent to Owlmind's nose. With the smallest of noises, a breath pushed from her mouth, the partial queen turned her gaze to view Goldenkit upon her back.
Even at a young age she showed the stature to be the largest of the three, and with her long and glorious golden fur it only enhanced her appearance. Goldenkit took after Redstar's genetics, her uncle bore a lengthy coat of ginger coloration, but those ever green eyes came from her father, Quailfoot. It was a quality all three of her kits were beginning to share.
"Keep your skills sharp and someday you will bring home a rabbit to feed the clan." Owlmind's rasping tone held the smallest amount of soft emotion, but her gaze was gentle and loving even if she didn't emote it most of the time. It wasn't often the gray feline showed a softer side, and as her kits grew they couldn't be treated fragility forever.
But, she was encouraging with everything they did and showed her.
Molding minds and teaching young spirits was something she thrived at, it was only natural for her to encourage their crouching, hunting and fighting stances before they entered the valley as apprentices.
Attention drifting to her youngest, the partial queen watched patiently and with interest as Greenkit stalked after a fly. Her personality was a little more difficult than her sisters, perhaps because she was the youngest, or perhaps because she took the longest to birth. Perhaps it was just who she was as a cat, but her temperament was fishy. It had the ability to change with the drop of a feather.
The tabby and white kitten who took her coloration from Quailfoot, missed the fly as it quickly buzzed away, and almost immediately there was a swing within her mood that the deputy noticed with a bat of an eye. A rusty purr made it's way from her chest at Goosekit's comment towards her sullen sister, unable to miss the resemblance her middle kit had to her, both in gray fur and oriental shaping, all the way down to the raspy, sharp tone of her voice.
Giving Goosekit a quick glance to ease off her sister, Owlmind turned her attention to Greenkit again, "Your form was good my little warrior," Her long tail flickered to touch the tabby and white shekit's chin and lift her face so that wide amber bore into green pools. "Keep practicing and you'll be ready to catch rabbits with your sisters in no time."
Now her attention returned to Goosekit, her temperament had been obvious from the time of her birth. Such a feisty little thing, watching her grow would be a journey within itself. She had always taken her 'playtime' as pre-training, always trying to fix ways to pounce or to swipe at her sisters. "I'm pleased to hear you are still working on your skills." It wasn't unusual for kits to loose interest in certain forms of play, but Goosekit always showed the vitality for keeping at things without giving up.
"Have each of you decided what you want to learn the most once you earn your apprentice title?" Lightningclan had a plethra of things warriors could learn specificly. Hunting and Fighting were the first two, similar to each clan and although warrior apprentices learned each, most were always more gifted at one than the other. The clan among the moors also happened to be tunnelers.
Owlmind herself was a tunneler, her apprentice at the moment, Lightningpaw, was training to be a tunneler. Learning what each kit had their heart set upon would aid the aging she-cat when she chose a mentor for them upon their sixth moon. It was one of her duties as a deputy, and she planned on using older warriors who had lived long lives and had plenty to teach each one of her growing kits.
Wisdom. Courage. Strategy.

Goldenkit let out a full and warm purr, beaming at her mother's warm praise. The dynamic between Owlmind and her kits was a unique one, and some would see it in an odd light but Goldenkit and her sisters knew better than any that their mother fiercely loved them in her own way. She encouraged them to grow in their own ways and was there for them when they needed her.
Seeing Greenkit's immediate mood shift after failing to catch the fly brought Goldenkit back down from her thoughts. She gracefully jumped off of Owlmind's back, landing beside her tabby sister. The large kit rubbed her head against Greenkit's and locked green eyes with her. "Don't be so hard on yourself. I think you're the best fly hunter in the clan!" At Goosekit's comment, Goldenkit flicked her ears dismissively. Classic Goosekit. Goldenkit had grown accustomed to her sister's snide remarks, not allowing them to make her think any less of her grey-furred sister.
With a loving lick to both her sisters, Goldenkit settled beside Greenkit in the back and wrapped her fluffy tail around her large paws. At Owlmind's question, Goldenkit cocked her head to the side. What was she most excited for? Normally when the kit thought about being an apprentice, she just saw it as a quick stop before being a warrior. She never really considered the actual journey of being an apprentice. Truthfully, the more she thought about it, the more she realized she was excited to learn all the intricacies that came with being a warrior.
Goldenkit licked her paw and rubbed the back of her ear in a large motion in order to subtly attract a glance from her mother. She saw no point in being loud in order to get attention, she simply wanted to command it. "I'm ready to learn how to protect Lightningclan from anything that comes our way!" Goldenkit, to show her excitement at being a warrior one day, hopped over to the rabbit that Owlmind had brought and gave it a few swats before taking a bite of her mother's still-warm catch.
