Leafbare 18
An icy wind grows stronger and stronger throughout the day.
A pair of four paws leaped across the somewhat hardened snow that laid in a thick blanket on the forest floor. Bright yellow eyes looked ahead, watching as leafless trees and half-dead bushes flew passed them. In the distance, a wall of bushes that also seemed nearly dead, but also were continuing to thrive in the cold, came into sight. Just what the young cat was looking for. As the multi-colored cat rushed forward towards the wall, a particular spot in the wall came into sight; a small portion of the top of this wall dipped downwards, not quite as high as the rest of the wall. Bingo.
As the cat came closer and closer to the wall and the spot they had their eyes locked on, their back legs began to tense up, preparing themselves for when the cat nearly came to a stop. He then crouched down momentarily and, still using the momentum he had from running, sprung his legs upwards, throwing himself into the air over the wall. It couldn't be denied. There was worry in the cat's mind. If he made it, then that would be the second or third time he had managed to pull off this stunt. If he failed, he would get pricked with those thorns that this wall was known for, which was a punishment in itself. As the cat leaped upwards, front and back legs extended both in front of and behind them, they felt a few of the small branches and thorns brush through the fur of their stomach, but not cutting into skin.
As he landed, Leopardpaw stumbled momentarily, but caught his balance, unlike the other times he had attempted this. The tom stood for a moment, breathing somewhat heavily, a smile on his face. He lifted his head and looked back at the wall where he had jumped over, an expression of pride crossing his face momentarily. He had done it successfully! His eyes then focused more so passed the wall, looking through the branches in search of a certain ginger and white tabby tom who had (hopefully) been following him. He had expressed to his mentor, Flamelight, that he wanted to put his long legs to good use and wanted to do more leaping. It wasn't necessarily a skill that Leopard absolutely needed, but he could only assume that wanting to develop another skill that could help him in the long run was welcomed.
He shook out his fur, a cold chill running down his spine, before looking up towards the sky. Luckily, it wasn't quite sun-high, so the wind was a little less harsh. The cold was still brutal, but cats had to be able to handle the cold in order to survive.
