Leopardpaw - Tom 10 Moons - TC ApprenticeLeafbare 17 - The sun is shining and there isn't a cloud in the sky, but it is still bitterly cold.It seemed as though his training was beginning to pay off. He had been working as hard as he could with Flamelight and was starting to notice the little bit more freedom he was getting as he got closer to becoming a full Warrior. At this moment Leopardpaw was actually out on the mid-day patrol with some of the other Apprentices and their mentors. With permission, Leopard strayed a little bit from the others, hoping to cover more ground as well as look for any signs of prey. With snow covering the ground and many of the usual prey burrow entrances covered, prey was harder to find. You now had to go out and openly seek any prey, often times failing depending on the time of day. Regardless, Leopardpaw found himself lightly leaping through the snow along the Treeclan and Lightningclan border, trees much less dense in this area than in the rest of the territory. Off in the distance he could see the open meadows of Lightningclan, but he wouldn't dare go exploring on another clan's territory. He may have considered doing so when he was younger, but now he knew better. As he made his way along the border, he did find that the unfamiliar scents of Lightningclan cats were strong. Perhaps they had a patrol out as well? He would have to be careful. He didn't need to be causing any trouble with Treeclan's neighbor. His ears then perked, hearing the crunching of snow that didn't belong to his own footsteps. "Hello?" ♥ ♥

Windpaw
The Wind Beneath my Wings
Movin' like the speed of sound Feet can't keep on the ground Can't stay in one place Keep movin' like a bullet train
In all honesty, she hadn't meant to wander away from the patrol she was apart of.
The young she-cat's attention span had always been shorter than others would like, not to mention her uncanny ability to be easily distracted by the smallest things. It wasn't that she didn't try to pay attention and keep up, she was just a free spirit that went where the wind whispered.
The young gray tabby had been out with Bluefrost, her mentor and a few other cats as they parted ways to hunt for anything that was possibly moving around within the moorlands. She had been instructed to stay close to her mentor, but... things don't always turn out that easy for Windpaw and before long she had wandered off. The young apprentice had caught a familiar scent, delicious even as it ran over her palette.
Rabbit!
Windpaw lifted her head, silent paw step after silent paw step as she slipped off towards the direction of Treeclan's border. The scent of prey growing stronger as the quiet feline grew closer. Pretty green pools widened as Windpaw came over a small ridge within the slopes of the grasslands, landing upon the sight of a small rabbit moving along the snow. It looked about fairly hungry, nosing along dead roots in an attempt to find something to eat.
Bluefrost will be so proud!
The purr was soft in her throat, remembering almost a second too late that she needed to remain quiet if she was going to actually catch the fast critter. Dropping into a crouch, slightly off balanced until she fixed herself, the young she-cat crawled forwards. The snow underbelly froze Windpaw's sensitive stomach as she crept forwards, attempting to be as quiet as possible.
Which, wasn't all that hard considering she was an extremely quiet cat in general.
In a swift motion, claws slid from the apprentice's paws before she shot forwards as the rabbit's head went up in alert. The chase was on as the prey gave chase to the predator, the wind pulling at Windpaw's pelt begging her to race faster. Determination tugged at the young Lightninclan cat's heart, wanting nothing more than to catch it so she could proudly show her catch to Bluefrost!
No!
Windpaw almost let out a frustrated whine as she lost the race, the rabbit quickly darted down a tunnel and there was no chance that the free spirited she-cat was about to chase it down the hole. The tunnels scared her, it was dark and crowded and her namesake wasn't able to run through her short pelt. It had grown to be a comfort to Windpaw, her favorite thing about being a Lightningclan cat. But now she had to return to her mentor empty pawed.
"Hello?"
The voice called out from the Treeclan side of the border, which Windpaw hadn't even realized she had wandered so far from where her hunting group had started out. The faint curiosity of Bluefrost worried about her crossed Windpaw's mind before her attention was once again quickly snagged by movement from a feline in Treeclan.
Padding forwards softly, the pale tabby lifted her tail in greeting once she saw the other cat looked only a few moons older than she did. Probably an apprentice like her. Green eyes widened as the quiet she-cat made her way closer, careful to keep her paws on Lightningclan's territory. Windpaw tilted her head, curious as to what the other cat's name was but not sure what entirely to say to him either.

As Leopardpaw took a few steps forward, gaze moving passed the tree in from of him, he almost didn't catch the movement out of the corner of his eye. As his head turned, he caught sight of a light silver and darker gray tabby cat, possibly around his age or maybe a little bit younger. He had never seen this cat before, nor had he heard their voice, so he was currently unsure as to if this was a she-cat or a tom. But one thing was for sure. He smelled Lightningclan all over this Apprentice, if that really was what they were.
He tilted his head to the side, silent for a moment as he examined the young cat. A smile then crossed his face. "Lightningclan, I presume?"
He took another step forward, not in a threatening way or anything, nor did he cross the border, but he merely brought himself fully out from behind the tree. He then took a seat, feeling the snow beneath him cling to the bottom of his tail, though he ignored the snow.
"I'm Leopardpaw, Apprentice of Treeclan. Who are you?" His voice was kind and curious, showing no signs of aggression towards the opposing clan cat. Words: 204 | Ghost the Undead Goddess | Notes:Made by Abyss

Windpaw
The Wind Beneath my Wings
Movin' like the speed of sound Feet can't keep on the ground Can't stay in one place Keep movin' like a bullet train
Out of pure curiosity, and innocence on her part as she assumed she would always be safe as long as she was on the moorlands of Lightningclan, the young apprentice found her paws leading her closer towards the border. Her green pools never strayed from where she spotted Leopardpaw's stature, his scent smelling strongly of Treeclan as he sat on their side of the invisible territory line.
The gray tabby tiled her head to the side when he started talking, though a light of excitement swarmed those green orbs upon her face when he mentioned Lightningclan. A purr rumbled from her chest in pride for her clan's name, the icy wind around her reminding her why she loved it so much out on the open plains.
Leopardpaw...
His name rolled around within her head as she studied the tom in-front of her. He had to be older, he was already much larger than her lithe form. And the coloring of his coat was absolutely beautiful, very contrast towards her own dull colored coat with common tabby features that most of her family wore.
While Windpaw possessed the ability to speak and communicate with other cats around her, she just happened to be the type of cat who spoke very few words and instead relied on her actions or motions. So, rather than opening her jaw to respond, the young she-cat used her tail to brush softly against Leopardpaw's shoulder in an affection hello.
Just because she didn't know him didn't mean she couldn't be nice.
The purr within her chest grew as she grew more comfortable being around the Treeclan cat, she wondered why so many of her clanmates had problems with the warriors who lived among the trees. Sure, it was weird to Windpaw that they would want to live where the wind was blocked from them. The gray tabby felt like it would be suffocating to live among all the brush and undergrowth they delt with during Full-leaf.
Other than that, Leopardpaw seemed like any normal, breathing feline.
"Windpaw." She finally said in a soft, raspy purr. It flowed as easily off her tongue as the wind that rippled through her short but dense tabby pelt. She was proud of her name, not only was she named after her grandfather, Windstrike, but she also appreciated the element that was held within her namesake. The wind was the young apprentice's favorite thing, when it is dainty and gentle, or even when it was strong right before a storm.
She wondered if Leopardpaw liked the wind, or maybe, did he like the trees the way she liked the wind? 'Cause I can't stop time You keep blurring in my mind And space is undefined These tracks left behind

Seeing the she-cat closer now, Leopardpaw took another moment to fully take in this other Apprentice. A light silvery-gray coat, accented with a white undercoat and an array of black and dark gray tabby stripes. Pale green eyes that glistened with excitement at his mention of Lightningclan, suggesting that this Apprentice was proud of her home, as one should be. Her overall size was built more so for stealth and agility rather than strength, which could be expected from a cat of the meadows. He also took note of her quiet but also curious and friendly nature. In honesty, she hadn't even spoken yet and he already thought that she was sweet.
When she started coming closer, he didn't move, nor did he find himself growing cautious of her. He merely sat and waited. Perhaps she was just shy and wasn't sure whether she should be talking to him yet? If she wished to investigate him before doing so, he had no problem with it. He was surprised to find her tail brushing along his shoulder, a purr rumbling from her throat. A smile crossed his face, glad that he seemed welcoming enough for this she-cat he had never met before to approach him and greet him in such a way. It was also then that she finally spoke.
"Windpaw."
It seemed like quite a fitting name. The meadows of Lightningclan didn't have the same trees as his own territory to block the wind, though that may have been why those cats enjoyed their territory so much. As a cat who lived and breathed those winds, Windpaw fit her perfectly.
"The name suits you. Am I to assume that you enjoy the wind, then?" He let out his own deep purr in his chest, his own tail brushing across her flank in a friendly manner. While he did have the opinions of his patrol-mates on his mind and what they would think of him associating with a Lightningclan cat, he pushed those thoughts aside. Why was there any need to be aggressive towards their neighboring clans? They all were cats. They all needed the same things to survive. Plus, as far as he knew, Treeclan and Lightningclan were friendly towards one another. So he saw no problem with him making friends with this pretty Apprentice. Windpaw
The Wind Beneath my Wings
Movin' like the speed of sound Feet can't keep on the ground Can't stay in one place Keep movin' like a bullet train
Attention shifting, the younger apprentice completely forgot about the fact that she was suppose to be on a hunting patrol with her mentor and a few other warriors from Lightningclan. She was now completely focused on the new, friendly tom she had met from Treeclan, absolutely curious about her neighbors that lived underneath the trees rather than the wide, open skies as she did.
Not being one to hide her emotions, everything was clear to read upon the gray tabby's face and within the pale pools of her eyes. It made the fact that she wasn't much of a talker a little bit easier to communicate with.
The purr within her chest grew louder, keying in on the fact that she was agreeing with Leopardpaw's statement. As if nature was playing on purpose, a chilly gust of wind slipped through the frozen moors. It wasn't heavy enough to disturb the white snow, but present enough to ruffle though the short fur of Windpaw and trickle against her whiskers. Naturally, the young apprentice found herself leaning into the wind as if she could fly away on it like a bird.
I do love the wind... The response floated around with the tabby's head but the words never left her maw. It was like it called to her, sang to her, a voice that only Windpaw could hear, like the element had been waiting for her to finally arrive on the moors. It was only moments before she turned those pretty green orbs back onto Leopardpaw.
The bright excitement in her gaze dropped for a moment as she quietly studied the tom across from her. Whereas Windpaw was a pale, dull coated feline of grays and silvers, Leopardpaw was a brilliant color of a golden-brown, even his eyes were a bright yellow. While she was still fairly young, she could still appreciate the handsomeness that fit with him, especially with the dark stripes and spots that dotted his short fur. It probably aided him when hunting in the shadows that trees casted.
Trees!
Her expression brightened but Windpaw realized he would probably not be able to read the curious questions within her head, which caused an ear to twitch before she parted her maw. "Do you like trees?" Her voice was once again a gentle rasp, her tail waving in a friendly manner behind her as she brought her paws to the invisible line between them. Windpaw held his gaze with her mossy orbs, the question still shinning within those green pools.

The way that this she-cat acted was quite interesting. Leopardpaw found himself very curious as to what her family was like and if they were similar. Typically a cat would show their emotions by talking or by their actions. Windpaw, though, was revealing everything she felt and thought just through her facial expression, her small movements that not many would take notice of, and her eyes. Her eyes intrigued him even more so. It was common for someone to show their emotions through their eyes, but Windpaw seemed talented in doing this, almost as if this was the way she had been communicating her feelings for all her life.
He heard a deep purr rumble from her chest at the mention of the wind, signalling that he was right. The cold breeze blowing through and the way that she leaned with the wind only furthered his confirmation. She seemed passionate about the wind, which was respectable. He was just beginning to think of what he was passionate about when he heard her calm and gentle voice once again, catching his attention.
The question she asked was very simple and brief, but his had been the same way. Did he like trees? The obvious answer would be yes, considering he was in Treeclan, but that wasn't the answer she was looking for, nor was he that sarcastic or rude to give that sort of answer. He considered for a moment, looking at the trees around them, as well as further into his own territory where the amount of trees grew more dense. He then looked back at the silver tabby, a smile on his face.
"The trees, to me anyway, are like a symbol of the lives of my clan. They cast shadows down on us, resembling the dark things that many cats go through. There's always something for a cat to worry about. Yet there's those times when the trees will part and let light hit us, relieving us of our worries and our doubts." Honestly, to some, this answer may have seemed way too meaningful for such a simple question. But she had asked, and he gave her his most honest answer. Though, he did attempt to hold back a chuckle as he said one final point. "That, and my clan is good with climbing, so hunting and fighting from above are a large advantage to having so many trees." A smile formed on his face as he looked to her once again, a kind expression on his face and showing through his eyes. Words: 425 | Ghost the Undead Goddess | Notes:Made by Abyss

Windpaw 9 Moons, LightningClan I hear the wind across the plain,
A sound so strong, that calls my name The answer that the older tom gave her was exactly what the pale tabby had been looking for. It may have seemed off the wall, but it was true. Sure, cats could love the obviousness when it came to their clans.
Treeclan should like trees, Nightclan obviously loves the nighttime, so on and so forth.
But Leopardpaw explained what the trees of his clan meant to him, he explained how it was involved in everyday life for those who lived among them. Sure, it wasn't how Windpaw loved the element in which she was named, but it was different and it made her understand the golden spotted tom a little better.
A purr of delight parted Windpaw's jaws, green eyes bright with appreciation that he took the time to explain it too her, and happiness that he trusted her with such information. Even if it was seen as important to others, it was the small things that counted to her.
The smile upon her face was bright as Windpaw decided that she rather liked Leopardpaw. She wanted to be friends with him despite the fact that he was from Treeclan and she belonged to Lightningclan.
There was no reason she couldn't have friends outside her birth clan.
Opening her mouth to speak, the pale feline paused when Bluefrost's frantic mew was heard on the chilly wind that rushed through the open moorlands.
Oh no! Bluefrost.... Windpaw's ears lowered to her head as she realized how scared her young mentor must be about her. There was no telling how much time had past while the young apprentice sat there chatting with Leopardpaw.
Turning that pretty pale gaze back towards the older tom, Windpaw gave him a clear look that said she would see him again, and without even really thinking about it, the pale tabby gave Leopardpaw a friendly nuzzle before turning to race off through the moors. A gust of wind fluttered at her fur, seemingly racing with her shrinking form.

For a brief moment, the young tom wondered if that sort of answer was really what the she-cat was looking for. She seemed to stare at him for a moment, or at least he thought she did. Had she been surprised by his in-depth explanation of his love for trees? Would something simpler have been easier? These questions went through his mind for a minute, but quickly faded when a cheerful smile formed on her face and a loud purr rumbled from her chest. Apparently that was just the sort of answer she wanted. At this, his own smile returned.
Windpaw had went to say something, but the sound of loud meows echoed from the open meadows of Lightningclan. His bright yellow eyes looked passed the silver tabby towards her territory, curious as to if that was a cat she was on patrol with. That was when he realized that he didn't know what exactly she was doing at the border. It was most likely that she was on patrol with some other Lightningclan cats, so he pushed out any other possibilities and hoped he was right.
Just as he went to turn his head to say something to her, he felt a light pressure against the side of his neck, soft fur other than his own brushing against him. His eyes went wide for a moment, looking to find that Windpaw had nuzzled him. It was a very bold gesture to offer a cat you had just met, and it did catch him off guard. That wasn't to say that he didn't dislike it, though.
He watched as the young silver she-cat turned and darted towards her territory, the wind blowing through her fur as she ran, only adding to her grace. He almost felt himself grow sad as she ran off. But that look she had given him right before she left said it all. He would indeed see her again. The smile returned to his face and he felt his own deep purr rumble through his chest. He sat there for a moment, remaining until all he saw of Windpaw was her tail disappearing into the tall grasses. He then stood and turned, trotting farther into his own territory to seek out his mentor and the rest of his patrol. Words: 383 | Ghost the Undead Goddess | Notes: Thread finished!Made by Abyss
