She was enraged. Roiling with it, feeling it shake her as she stalked into the thicket. She knew Aspenpaw was there. She'd seen him go, probably waiting for his mentor. Well, she was a warrior, she could teach him a thing or two. He had no right, none whatsoever. Their mother had done everything she could to make him part of their family. He was part of their family, her brother in all the ways that mattered. They'd nursed together, played together, been named apprentices together. They'd been sick together, survived together, trained and grew and learned together. So what if mother hadn't birthed him? What did it matter? What did it matter?! Her mask of civility was barely in place, and it shook at its edges the closer she got. Mother cried when no one was around. Mother had lost the light in her eyes and nothing was making it better. After everything she'd been through, Moonfeather deserved so much better than the stupid cats that called this clan home! Her kits should only ever be loyal to her, should protect and want to be with her when they could. Aspenpaw didn't understand this. Lionstar had done wrong by her mother. Fawnspring was drifting and she was well on her way to not needing the contact anymore. But Moonfeather didn't deserve this! The resentment, the ignoring, the refusal to accept! It was wrong! Amberwing barely managed to contain herself when she entered the thicket, prancing over to her brother as though nothing had changed. "Hello Aspenpaw!" She called cheerfully, coming to stand in front of him. "Care to train with me?" Nothing about what she was about to unleash on him, nothing about the rage boiling in her veins. He'd see soon enough. She shifted back and forth, her smile on her face. Nothing was wrong, she was just his sister, wanting to be around him even if he'd fallen out with their mother. She wasn't there for anything else, no ulterior motive. Keep the mask in place. Bide her time, and when the fight started, blood would run. Let him feel the pain he'd caused. Hellion

Aspenpaw had overheard a few apprentices talking about their mentors wanting to train in the thicket later in the afternoon. While the black and white tom didn't hear it directly from his mentor, he decided he should head out there anyways. Even if it ended up being that only a few were training, he knew he'd learn something at the end of the evening.
However, unknown to Aspenpaw, the plans changed. Which meant the slightly older apprentice was waiting for no one, but he was unaware.
Tucking his tail over his paws, the tom studied the softer ground with fiery amber eyes. The last season had been rough. His head was mixed up and his heart ached for a mother that wasn't really his mother.
Moonfeather may have nursed him and raised her as his own but at the end of the day, she had lied to him. Let him believe that he belonged to her and while it was foolish to hold onto such hurt, Aspenpaw couldn't shake it.
He felt as if his entire identity had been made up, falsified for the sake of making it easier for him to adjust to a new mother, a new life.
Scrapping his paws along the ground, his mind wandered to that fateful day when he learned the truth. When everything about him turned upside down. In the moon since that day Aspenpaw had avoided his fake sisters and his fake mother like they were poison. So when he heard Amberwing's call his name his first thought was to flinch and shy away, but he didn't.
Instead he looked up to meet her gaze and offer a shrug. "No, I'm fine. I'm just waiting for other apprentices," He explained, expecting her to move on and do what ever it was that warriors did. Not that he couldn't use the help he just didnt' want it from her. . 18 Moons TreeClan Tom Aspenpaw Honesty has a power very few people can handle #330 Justice Notes: she can "jump him" to start the "battle training"

She felt the mask starting to crack. So, this slug thought he could dismiss her and she'd leave like some skittish mouse? A snort left her as she lashed her tail behind her. The tone that came out, when she spoke next, was far different from the genial one she'd used on him at first. "Oh, so now you are too good to train with me? You think you are in the right, ignoring your family because of your hurt feelings? You're wrong. You've erred, little brother, and I think its time someone showed you just how far it is you've strayed." She stalked around him, circling tighter and tighter as she spoke, tail lashing and green eyes lit with a cold rage that boiled below the surface. Without further warning she pounced him, digging her claws into the other cat until she drew blood. Shallow marks, for now, his fur under her claws as she contemplated snapping her jaws into his neck and ending him right then and there. But not yet. He needed a lesson first. He needed to hear what it was he had done. Amberwing leapt away from him then, fur bristled up, hissing violent and absolutely not done with the worthless waste of space she should have been able to call her brother. "Do you know what it is you've done? Of course not. You're so bent out of shape that you don't even care how your actions have effected everyone around you! Our family has been ripped apart because of you!" She lunged at him again, hoping he'd actually fight back. Otherwise this beating would have no satisfaction for her. HellionOOC : Let me know if this is too much and I'll fix it. You did tell me to not have her hold back XD.

There relationship was moons in the making and despite not talking as much as they used to as kits, Aspenpaw still could tell something wasn't off. The way she looked at him was unsettling, but not enough for him to fear her (yet). Instead of walking away in search of his Clanmates, Aspenpaw stayed his ears tilting forward to listen to her words.
They were harsher, furthering the tom's growing distrust of foster sister. The effort she made to point a flaw in behavior did little to spur the tom to repent. He saw no error in his ways, acting out his hurt was justified. He didn't need her to understand or approve.
What truly started to scare him was the start of her predatory circle. Large and first but gradually becoming smaller. He felt stuck, trapped in his sister's presence. In a lackluster attempt to leave, Aspenpaw rose to his paws and made a move to leave but he didn't get the chance. Instead, he felt the weight of his once playmate come crashing down on his frame.
A yelp escaped him as he started to struggle, attempting to dislodge Amberwing from his pack. The pain radiated from his back and he knew from the faint tickle feeling that he was bleeding. Confused by her attack but quickly falling into a defensive pose, Aspenpaw glared at his sister with pained disdain. He didn't want to her fight her, play or for real.
The expression of his angst quickly faded away when she squared up again. This time spitting out more unsettling talk, blaming him for ruining their family. He didn't get the chance to reply before she lunged forward.
Playing to his advantage, Aspenpaw used his height. He was just a bit taller then Amberwing, which meant he had a longer reach. He did lack the finese of being a proper warrior-level fighter but that didn't stop him. Skirting away from her lunge, Aspenpaw went low. He gathered himself up as tight as he could before sprining forward, attempting to knock his foster sister over in an impressive display of tobbling. The only chance of them escaping mostly unharmed would be this attempt to pin her down. 18 Moons TreeClan Tom Aspenpaw Honesty has a power very few people can handle #382 Justice Notes: see further down note: Aspen isn't much of a talker I realize as I wrote this reply lol. my suggestion, let aspen pin her down but because of his inexperience in fighting, he leaves his belly exposed. fair game for her hind claws.

Her world was washed in red hues. Rage dominated through her now, cold and unending. She didn't care if he told Lionstar what she was doing, she didn't care if she got banished for fighting one of her clanmates. She'd survive, Mockingbird had made sure of that. This had to happen, he had to be punished. He had to be shown he wasn't right, that his lashing out against their family was wrong and that he should repent. She was so deep into her rage that her usual calculated calm was shattered, and that meant he got the drop on her. Even as her world flipped round she knew what she was going to do. He may have gotten her onto her back, but he'd also given her back claws access to his belly. She wasn't fighting to play, she wasn't fighting to train, she wanted him to hurt. So claws dug and scrambled against her brother's exposed belly, making sure she got out chunks of fur until his blood flowed and then kicking him with all her might. She didn't stop there, once he hit the ground she stalked to him and put her paw on his through, using the rest of her body to pin him while applying pressure so that he'd have to listen if he wanted to live through this. "Why is she less than your mother just because she didn't birth you? Do you have any idea what our family has been through? Do you? You were born in these woods, we came from beyond it. I remember the others, the ones that were with my litter. I remember the terrible coughing and how father had it too, how hard it was for us to leave them after they were gone. Mother brought us here to do better for us. Her broken heart meant less to her than her kits, and its always been that way." She didn't even realize that she'd started to cry, her body shaking as the words spewed forth. "And then there was you, small and helpless and just needing someone to take care of you. Mother wanted you the moment she laid eyes on you, loved you before Lionstar ever offered you to her. She may not believe in StarClan but I do. StarClan gave you to her, they made sure she was here when you needed a queen to raise you, that even though your mother couldn't be there for you anymore someone else who would love you just the same would be. And in return you made our family whole, you helped mend mother's broken heart, gave her a purpose again when she didn't believe she had one. Who cares if she didn't give birth to you? Who cares if she didn't tell you about it before now? Why does it matter? She loves you, like she loves us. She doesn't see you as someone else's kit, someone else's offspring, you're hers. And she'd do anything for you, you mousebrained fool." Amberwing eased off his throat, just so she didn't accidentally kill him. "All you see is that she lied to you, but did she really? She didn't give birth to you, but you are still her son. You are in her heart just as much as I am, as Fawnspring is. She has so totally accepted you that it no longer mattered that you weren't originally part of our litter. It doesn't matter to me, and it doesn't matter to her. It was so nice having our family be whole again. Other cats have raised the kits of others before and claim them as their own. Why is it that when Moonfeather does the same its this huge issue. Why does love have to come with conditions, Aspenpaw?" She stayed as she was, ignoring the way her heart twisted. "Why don't you want to be my brother anymore?" It was a question asked not of a warrior, but from a sister who simply didn't understand. She gathered her strength, felt the cold rage still boiling under her pelt, and focused her eyes, the same eyes as her mother, back on the tom underneath her. She should end this now, before someone came upon them. Just as she thought this she heard the rustle of leaves and underbrush and then a sharp intake of the cat that had come upon them. "Amberwing! Stop it now! Let him go!" In a flash the grey she-cat was at their side, nudging her half grown daughter with all of her might. "Let him up. Why are you fighting? There's blood all over. What happened?" For a moment she didn't relent, but then stepped back and laid on her belly. Mother's word was law. Moonfeather nudged at Aspenpaw, looking over his wounds frantically as she tried to get him onto his paws. "What has gotten into you, Amberwing? You could have really hurt him." She nudged him again. "Aspenpaw, can you stand? Its okay, I'm here now, it'll be alright. We'll get you to Falconstorm and get you patched up. It'll be okay, you'll see." She didn't know how much her mother had heard of the conversation, but had the feeling it was more than she'd wanted her to by the gleam of tears on those green eyes. She'd hear about it later for this fight, she was sure. But at least she had made her stance clear to Aspenpaw, even if it had devolved into a near hysterical expulsion of all the negative emotions that had been dredged up by his absolute disregard for his family. A shriek of pain as his exposed belly was torn up by his sister's claws. He didn't have a chance to prepare before her kick had him arching over her and hitting the ground with a thump. The pain from his belly and the harshness of the forest floor had Aspenpaw gasping for breath. Claws out as he dug into the ground he tried to pull himself up but found the world titling to the side. He couldn't get up, so he laid panting. He felt bile rise up in his throat from the dizzying senation.
Barely able to capture a full breath, he sensed Amberwing approaching. She had beaten him, tossed him aside like a moss ball. He wondered if she was coming to help him, claim it an accident that he was bleeding but he knew in his heart that wasn't the case. Begging his body to get up, Aspenpaw tried to wiggle away from her the closer she got, but all his movements came to a halt.
She placed her paw on his throat the pressure was there making it even more of a challenge to breathe. Staring up at Amberwing he tried to make a sound but all he could do was release pitiful gasping sounds.
Trying to use a forepaw to claw and push her away, he quickly realized how pointless it was, she was stronger. He was losing focus, vision going blurry. Even as he struggled he wasn't confident that he was doing anything.
It took him a moment to realize she was talking to him. She sounded angry but also pained. He caught snippets of her words, something about a cough and how much Moonfeather loved him. He tried to piece it all together but it was too much effort, all his energy was spent on trying to get free. Then suddenly he was.
Taking a deep breath he closed his eyes to prevent the world from spinning, the rush of fresh air nearly making him cry out in relief. Still unable to get up as his body readjusted to being able to breathe freely, Aspenpaw opened his eyes to stare at Amberwing, head tilted as his eyes reflected pain and confusion.
He was able to hear the pain in her voice, the sound of someone rejected and betrayed. He realized at the moment he was to blame for his sister's hurting, but didn't she see that he was hurting too? Painfully confused about who he was, scared that everything in his life was a lie. Why couldn't she recognize that!
As her eyes bore into him, Aspenpaw gave up. Wore out from the struggle and too twisted emotionally to care, he slumped back again this time his eyes tightly closed. He didn't think she'd kill him but judging by the turmoil in her words he wouldn't be surprised. A twisted part of him already forgave her for it. He had hurt them all so easily and paid no mind to their suffering, he had been selfish as he was foolish. He didn't want to die, but he didn't want to fight anymore either. but before he could find his way to StarClan, Moonfeather's voice rang true.
Eyes flying open, Aspenpaw let out a weak gaspy groan for help. Moonfeather pushed Amberwing away. Aspenpaw wanted to cry and beg forgiveness but all the came out was soft mewling, a sound similar to a sick kit.
He felt her nudge against him and just like that Aspenpaw was back in the nursery. Tucked close to his her for mainly for warmth but mostly because he loved the safety she provided him. She protected him no matter what, just like she was doing now.
Hearing her question if he could stand, Aspenpaw nodded not trusting himself to make actual words. He pushed himself up, woozy from the bloodloss but able to place his paws under him. He nodded when she brought up Falconstorm.
Taking a moment before actually taking a step, Aspenpaw turned back toward Amberwing. "I'm sorry," He croaked, voice raw and weak but there. Not waiting for Amberwing to reply he pressed himself closer to Moonfeather, depending on her to help him home.
