Tear the whole world down,
tear the whole world down
WARRIOR OF RAINCLAN || 31 MOONS || TOM
He was beginning to think life just enjoyed laughing at him. The large tabby tom sat near the entrance of RainClan's camp, thick tail tip twitching from where it lay over his paws. Pale green eyes narrowed, the sardonic tom lost somewhere in his own thoughts. It didn't take much for him to recall this past Greenleaf, where the blistering heat had rendered him nearly immobile for various periods of the day. Although late Leaf-fall brought with it a brief respite, Leafbare never seemed to waste a moment before biting down on the Clans and driving temperatures into the uncomfortably cold, even with a pelt as dense as his.
This season, Leafbare was mild. Though his breath still escaped his maw in puffs of steam, he couldn't feel the biting cold against his skin. Yet somehow, the prey shortage was still extraordinarily noticeable. Prey had not registered the mildness of this Leafbare, and still fled the deadly cold, leaving RainClan at a loss. With a silent snort to himself, Gorgeleap wondered if it was worth taking his apprentice to the River. Not trying at all would be just as useless, if not more so. Came the flat voice in his head.
And so he awaited the arrival of his apprentice, as well as the timid Minnowsplash and her current apprentice. The fawn-colored she-cat had stammered through a request to tag along, despite her gaze appearing as though she were searching for someone else among the Clan ranks. He admitted to being mildly surprised she'd asked him; his rather abrasive tongue seemed to make cats as timid as she recoil with speed. But who was he to question? He didn't really care whether she enjoyed his company or not. Most did not, but he did his part for the Clan.
Plus, Minnowsplash's gentle company might do Lionpaw some good. Gorgeleap had taken over Lionpaw's training a few moons back, but he couldn't exactly say he felt close to the younger tom. Then again, did he really feel close to that many Clanmates? At the very least, Minnowsplash's company couldn't do Lionpaw any harm.

Her green eyed gaze flickered over the camp one last time before she ducked her head through the entrance to the apprentice's den. She wouldn't deny the fact she always hoped for one more chance to spot Bravebird among the inhabitants of their Clan. If she could, she'd spend all her days in his company, but... That wouldn't do Cedarpaw any good. Minnowsplash could be a little... Distracted when Bravebird was next to her. Hoping to make some progress in training her new apprentice, Minnowsplash had picked a mentor who would heighten her focus, not detract from it.
Honestly, Gorgeleap frightened her a little. To escape the nerve-inducing tom, Minnowsplash would likely focus on Cedarpaw, who was considerably less frightening. That should prove conducive to training, right? Flicking an ear to escape her never-ending thoughts, the gentle she-cat blinked through the gloom to search for two particular figures. Considering Gorgeleap's size, Minnowsplash had volunteered to fetch the younger cats. The large tom hadn't indicated any sign of complaints, though... Gorgeleap admittedly didn't show much of anything. And Minnowsplash had bounded off to escape the emptiness of the green eyes blinking back at her before he could say much.
Clearing her throat, she wove her way among the den's inhabitants until she located her young apprentice's nest. With a gentle tap of her tail to Cedarpaw's flank, she whispered softly. "C-Come, Cedarp-paw, we're going t-to practice s-some hunting today." Waiting until she spotted signs of life from the young tom, Minnowsplash backtracked until Lionpaw came into view. Hesitating a moment before touching her tail to his shoulder, Minnowsplash forced herself to swallow her anxiety and call out to him softly too. "L-Lionp-paw, Gorgel-leap asked me t-to.. To f-fetch you as w-well. Y-You'll b-be coming for s-some hunting t-too!"
She tried her best to sound excited, but didn't wait long before making a beeline for the entrance and pushing her way back into the open air. Stifling a shiver born of both anxiety and the slight temperature change, she glanced back toward where Gorgeleap sat waiting silently.
