Dovecloud,
30 Moons, LightningClan, Queen B
Dovecloud sauntered over to the entrance to the apprentice's den. She wasn't in the mood for what she had to do, she didn't want or need an apprentice right now, but it did look good on her with regards to her standing in the Clan. That, combined with who her family was, combined with her mate, Harestrike, provided for a brilliant synergy culminating in a position of high influence within the clan.
Even so... this was her first apprentice. She was determined to do it right. Her actions would directly affect the course of this young tom's life.
She swept a forepaw across her ears, trying to get the fur there to obey her and just. lay. flat. It was not like her to feel unsure of herself like she currently was. She put it down to a bad night's sleep.
"Cedarpaw! We're going for a tour of the territory. Let's go! I do not tolerate laziness."
I could hold you down, like I'm givin' lessons in physics You should want a bad bitch like this 200 - @kahani - Not actually sure whether Cedarpaw = dove's first apprentice but we'll see what happens

Cedarpaw
The young apprentice was awoken by the irritatingly high and squeaky voice of her mentor Dovecloud and her latest insult on the younger cat's work ethic, lazy, she was not lazy! It was boredom and distain for the white warrioress that made Cedarpaw take a few extra minutes to exit the apprentice den, Dovecloud was as uninterested in teaching her warrior skills as Cedapaw was in learning them, she had never really grown out of her kithood curiousity in Dovecloud's older sister Kindleflare's job as the clan's medicine cat. As much as she wanted to scowl at her mentor upon her exit from the den she kept her face passive, upsetting Kindleflare's sister was not something she wished to do at this very moment.
" Obviously Dovecloud, you deserve nothing less than perfection" Cedarpaw cooed at her mentor, a sweet talker til the end the apprentice learned to weasel her way out of things by simply flattering her mentor until she was able to sneak away. Nevertheless Cedarpaw tried to be as dutiful an apprentice to Dovecloud as she could, after all Firebird scared her and she did not want to face the wrath of the elder and Dovecloud was more tolerable than Harestrike, she felt for his apprentice more than anything. " Where are we going first? Hope it's somewhere interesting" she perked up, hoping that the territory proved more interesting than the camp had proven to be in the short time she had been around to experience it.
@calico . I felt bad enough having two character's that do/will hate your's I thought than Cedar should at least pretend to, they can become closer if she gets MCA or when Harestrike is revealed to be cheating on her, Cedarpaw will be the first to back her up.

Dovecloud,
30 Moons, LightningClan, Queen B
Dovecloud saw through Cedarpaw's act straight away. Oh, yes, Dovecloud was just as aware that Cedarpaw didn't want her either. She wanted Kindleflare. It was understandable. The gentle medicine cat was as different from Dovecloud as chalk was cheese. But, until instructed otherwise, Dovecloud was her mentor. And therefore, Dovecloud would do the absolute best that she could by the smaller cat, even though neither of them wanted to be there.
"Where are we going first? Hope it's somewhere interesting" Dovecloud fixed her gaze on her (admittedly, much more perky now she knew the two were going somewhere that wasn't camp) apprentice.
Interesting... that's one way to put it. I'd say desolate. I'd say heartbreaking... But interesting? That's something that wouldn't have crossed my mind immediately when referring to the Open Woods
"I figured I'd start our tour with a lap around the open woods. It may be a lot more... sparse than it normally would be this time of year due to that fire... but I figured you'd want to see the bad before we got to the good, if you know what I mean?"
Dovecloud was suddenly unsure of herself. What an interesting feeling. There was that word again... interesting. A lot of things had become interesting since the fire claimed much of LightningClan's territory. Since she made official the announcement of her mate.
Shaking her head to clear these unaccustomed feelings, she started walking, flicking her tail to gesture to Cedarpaw to follow.
"Come, Cedarpaw. Maybe you can go tell Kindleflare all about it when we get back."
The remark wasn't said in spite, but it still left a bad taste in Dovecloud's maw. She wasn't used to being second best, in any cat's eye. I could hold you down, like I'm givin' lessons in physics You should want a bad bitch like this 323- @kahani - So Dove likes Cedar already (despite herself) // TC border first, then SC border.

Cedarpaw Dovecloud's next words were far more interesting than her last and the bright eyed apprentice found herself fixing her mentor with a bright smile as she opened her mouth to reveal what she knew of the Open Woods, " Isn't that our border with the squirelchasers? Mama told me they are led by Lionstar and they have a tom as a medicine cat, Falconstorm? isnt it?" she questioned her mentor softly, falling easily into step alongside Dovecloud and seemingly forgetting her supposed hatred of the older she cat for just a moment, where she allowed the curious kit within to roam free and learn as much about the territory as she could, if she was to impress Kindleflare and earn a shot at being the ginger she cat's apprentice then she would have to do this trip again, to learn where all the best herbs were. "After this, where are we going? I hope it's the Sun Stones, I want to see why Stoneclan think's it was so important to steal them form us" She added, her opinions on other clan's was very subject to change, she was a compassionate cat and had sympathy in abundance but she was firm in her belief that she would offer no support if it was not needed or appreciated and to her Stoneclan almost didn't deserve her compassion after all, they killed Mapleheart. " I want to see what Mapleheart died for" she mused more to herself than to Dovecloud, of course she knew of the war for the sunstones, despite being a tiny kit at the time. What did Stoneclan hope to gain from that treachery, who else had to suffer because of each clan's indefinite battle with another, a war of clans that never seemed to end.
@calico, She's opening up to Dove, slowly.

Dovecloud,
30 Moons, LightningClan, Queen B
Despite herself, Dovecloud found herself heartened by her apprentice's joy and eagerness. She remembered her own apprentice days... her wish to learn everything there was to learn, so she could be a warrior as soon as she could, so she could impress her peers and her family, so she could gain some influence in the eyes of the world around her and of StarClan. She only hoped that Cedarpaw would be as well trained as she was.
Listening to Cedarpaw muse about the sun stones and the StoneClan border, Dovecloud felt the fur on her hackles start to raise. She was not impressed at how Firestar would just let them go so easily. She'd never tell her, however, publically doubting her leader would be tantamount to mutiny... but her private feelings were hers and hers alone.
"TreeClan - though I do enjoy very much your 'squirrelchaser' nickname, we must at the end of the day remain respectful - do indeed have a male medicine cat. Cedarpaw, you may not know this, but medicine cats are bound by a different code than the rest of us. Say Kindleflare found a squirrelchaser"
She purred in amusement as she said the word squirrelchaser "across the border, and they were critically ill? Kindleflare would have the right to cross the border without being challenged in the slightest.
Anyone who would harm a medicine cat does not deserve anything but the most painful death."
Her tail flicking in disgust at her own words, and the sentiment behind them, Dovecloud began to lead the way further into the open woods. pausing every now and again to make sure the scent markers were up to date. Cedarpaw
The white and grey apprentice smiled brightly when her mentor, instead of telling her off for her obvious insult to Treeclan, instead gently reminded her to remain polite and even admitted to liking the nickname. Cedarpaw could not help but feel pleased that at least in one cat's eyes she was not a delusional kit with dreams of being a medicine cat that were well known to near everyone that knew anything about the blue eyed apprentice. Dovecloud continued on to explain that medicine cat's were bound to a different code than that of regular warriors and her ears twitched in interest when Dovecloud announced that any cat that dared challenge a medicine cat deserved a painful death and the very thought of ending another cat's life had her cringe visably.
" Death is more of a mercy than you think to those who dare harm another cat for they would be with Starclan and anyone who takes a life without good reason shouldn't be allowed that priveledge" Cedarpaw reasoned softly to Dovecloud, while she understood that it was simple protectiveness that drove Dovecloud to say such things, it was enough to make Cedarpaw uncomfortable, but she still spoke in response. " I vowed my loyalty to my clan when I became an apprentice, I would die to protect them, even you Dovecloud" She added, softening her sharp tones and quick glares at her mentor for a much more relaxed but dilligent apprentice that her brother Gracklepaw seemed to embody much more than the rule abiding yet confident young she cat that was Cedarpaw.
@calico, Awhh Cedar would die for Dovecloud, thats a little sweet.

Dovecloud,
30 Moons, LightningClan, Queen B
Cedarpaw's reasoned response to her protective statement had Dovecloud pausing for thought. Yes... This cat is definitely made for something much bigger than me, Harestrike or any of us... She has the wisdom of a cat twice her age. She would have to make sure to have a word with Kindleflare at some point about potentially taking Cedarpaw on. Not that Dovecloud wouldn't miss the little blue-eyed tabby - she would, she would miss her kit-like exuberance and her open mind - but if warrior-hood was not for her, then who was Dovecloud to stand in her way?
"As I would die for you, or any of the Clan, Cedarpaw. Do you have any questions about the Squirrelchasers before we continue on to the Sun Stones?"
Dovecloud wrapped her tail around her paws, willing the fur on her shoulders to lay flat and not betray the inner turmoil she was feeling.

Cedarpaw Hearing that her beautiful yet somewhat aloof mentor would die for her or any member of her clan had Cedarpaw smile brightly, it was nice to have someone to rely on and something told Cedarpaw that despite their differences, she and Dovecloud might just get along fine in the coming moons. It was indeed a strange thought considering the season was one where even the kindest of cats turned savage for a scrap of food and then without so much as a glance can turn on a dime to be sweet and kind once more, though Cedarpaw noted that it was usually the shorter furred cats that got worse and the longer furred cats that were kinder, able to share their warmth to their clanmates.
Cedarpaw wasn't built for extreme cold but her light colouration allowed hunting to be slightly easier than her dark pelted clanmates, she wondered briefly how they survived the harshness of both Leaf- Bare and Greenleaf where temperatures could drop and soar in minutes.
A chilly wind blew by and with a shiver Cedarpaw moved closer to Dovecloud, her mentor's plush white coat providing the needed heat the young she cat needed before she spoke once more. " I thought that Stoneclan stole the Sun Stones from us, are we even allowed to go there?" She piped up her question on her least favourite neighbours, after all Mapleheart had died protecting what was rightfully Lightningclan's and Stoneclan killed her without a second thought, a unforgivable act in Cedarpaw's eyes.
What did Dovecloud think of all this? why did her mentor's opinion suddenly mean so much to her? she already knew that Dovecloud was Kindleflare's sister and while that was incentive enough, Cedarpaw did not feel the desire to impress Dovecloud before and now upon hearing that Dovecloud would indeed die for her, sparked a sense of loyalty and a feeling of admiration rose in her chest as she looked at the white warrioress with intelligent bright blue eyes.
" What will happen if there is a patrol Dovecloud? Will they attack us? I'm scared" she admitted, it took courage to admit when she was afraid and Cedarpaw hoped that Dovecloud would not scorn her for her kitlike fear of confrontation, it was not the cat's she was afraid of, it was letting her mentor down when she could not fight them off. The pain of watching a clanmate get hurt was to much for her to think about, especially since Dovecloud was quickly establishing herself as an important figure in Cedarpaw's life.
@calico, Kalico for life Dove's got such a pretty name, I can't help but be a little biest.
