Mistheart turned to Lunarpaw as she heard her voice, her apprentice had woken again. But she was glad to see that she did not appear to be too down and worried at the minute, the dream may not have come back to her, she told herself as she padded over to the white cat and licked her on the ear comfortingly.
’Yes that is a good suggestion Lunarpaw,’ she mewed proudly, glad that her apprentice was now taking some responsibility for things. ’Do you know what we need?’ she asked looking around at all of the piles of herbs, trying to work out for herself which was the most in need of refilling.

"Dock and Coltsfoot. Some of the ones we had began to rot, so we'll have to throw those out and collect fresh herbs," Lunarpaw replied. She stood up and padded into the center of camp and picked up a vole for herself and a sparrow for her mentor.
She set the prey down and waited for her mentor to join her before the meal. She could see some cats moving around this morning, she did happen to notice a flash of Darkpaw's tail into the apprentices den that made her shiver.

The pale tabby she cat nodded at her apprentice, Mistheart herself had not noticed the rotting herbs but looking now she saw her apprentice was right. The edges of the leaves were withering away and turning brown, these would be no good at all to a sick cat. ’Well done!’ she mewed, possibly a little too enthusiastically. ’I hadn’t even noticed that.’ she added more calmly.
As Lunarpaw padded out of the den Mistheart took the chance to see just how much of the fresh herbs they would need. As she reached for the Dock the scent of fresh kill floated to her pink nose, and she breathed it in for a minute. Turning around she noticed Lunarpaw padding in with the fresh kill. ’Oh thanks,’ she mewed politely, it was thoughtful of her to have decided on a meal before a trek in search of herbs. She sat opposite the white cat and took a small bite out of the sparrow trying to ignore the feathers that tickled her nose.

Lunarpaw's prey was gone in a few swift bites. She waited for Mistheart to finish as she flicked her tail. Her nose picked up the scent of mouse bile as she turned to see two apprentices with faces representing StarClan's wrath. She turned back to Mistheart ignoring her furious brothers, it was about time they paid up!

Mistheart finished her prey off faster as she saw her apprentice had finished already. As she licked the last traces of the sparrow from around her mouth another, unexpected scent drifted to her nose. Mousebile? she thought to herself, extremely confused. Her blues eyes automatically drifted to Lunarpaw, after all she had seen her apprentice going into the apprentices den, and she knew how much she disliked her brothers. Mistheart did not say anything, only smiled to herself, she knew it was wrong but she couldn’t bring herself to lecture Lunarpaw about it.
Instead she stood up and stretched out her white paws, ’Are you ready to go then?’ she asked kindly looking at Lunarpaw wondering whether she had seen her smile.

Lunarpaw jumped, somewhat surprised at her mentor. She nodded, her black tail flicking as she wondered what her mentor was thinking. The she-cats jaws stretched out into a morning yawn as she padded out of the Medicine Den. Her eyes glanced over her shoulder to see Mistheart, waiting for the Medicine Cat to follow her.
The white apprentice then bounded out of camp, her paws beating against the cave floor echoing throughout the camp. The outdoor air rushed against her face as she let herself slow. It was such a wonderful day out, with cloudless skies beneath the shade of NightClan's pine trees.

Mistheart’s blue eyes widened as she saw Lunarpaw jumped, she must have been distracted, she thought to herself with a smile as she padded out of the medicine cats den after her apprentice. It was bright now and many of the other cats were out and about. She noticed the two black apprentices outside the apprentices den not looking too pleased.
She ignored the pair as they watched them leaving camp, she knew they had never got on well with her apprentice and she disliked them for that. She kept pace with Lunarpaw as she rushed through clan territory, the morning air bringing with it many scents of both prey and fresh herbs just waiting to be picked. ’Nice day!’ she mewed to her apprentice trying to make conversation on their journey to the black woods.

"Yeah.... Mistheart, what do you think will I have for a Medicine Cat name?" Lunarpaw had been wondering it for awhile, it had really been bugging her. If Mistheart was still alive when she was to become a Medicine Cat, the Medicine Cat would have chosen her apprentice's name. "Lunar" was just a strange word, Lunarheart sounded nice but her mentor already had that ending.
The white she-cat continued padding, her yellow pastel eyes focused on the sky above. She could already scent the cinders from Black woods, the fire was so old that it had been before Shadowear was a kit. Her black tail laid still as her eyes clouded over, once again distracted.

Mistheart looked at her apprentice wondering what her name could be. ’I hadn’t really thought about it…’ she admitted weakly to her, ’Did you have anything you would want?’ she asked as she tried to think fast. Lunar… Lunardream? No… Lunarsight? Maybe? she thought to herself, she knew the last one had a ring to it, but she couldn’t decide whether she liked it or not.
She squinted through the trees wondering if they could see the black woods yet, the scent of ash was certainly getting stronger with every step they made. She glanced at her apprentice as she waited for her response, but Lunarpaw once again looked distracted and simply in another world.

Lunarpaw's ears flicked back as she heard Mistheart's question, she had to think about it as she padded foreward. The thoughts ran through her head...Lunarmoon? Lunarwind? Lunartail? Lunarpelt? Lunarglow? Lunarfall? Lunarscar? Lunarleaf? Lunarspot? Lunarlight?
The apprentice's white pelt finally began to contrast with the territory; the black woods. The scent of burnt wood still hung in the air, though the fire was countless moons ago. The she-cat had only five names she had thought of for her top favorites. The names she would like, but she didn't know what Mistheart would want for her.
Her muscles stretched as she turned to the pure-coated she-cat and meowed. "I have five I suppose.... Lunarflame, Lunarwing, Lunarflight, Lunarshard or Lunarsky."

As Lunarpaw responded with her list of names she realised they had reached the black woods, her apprentice stood out so bad, there was no hope of her camouflaging here, but it didn’t matter. ’They are good names,’ she mewed truthfully, better than Lunarsight! she thought. ’Lunarsky sounds pretty.’ she added, it sounded like the perfect name for a medicine cat. ’You still have more time to think about it as well.’
The scent of burnt wood hung heavy in the sky, the air here was not as clean to breath and Mistheart knew they should not stay her for too long. She glanced around looking for the herbs that they needed to collect, there scents seemed to be disguised here so it would be a case of ‘find it yourself’. ’We had best get searching…’ she mewed padding off in the direction of a charred tree.

Her yellow eyes caught the bright green leaves of dock immidiately, she bounded over to it, her tail bouncing behind her. "Look! I found some!" The apprentice meowed, then turned to look at Mistheart, her yellow eyes glowed. She was prroud to be able to do something for once, unlike how her brothers made her feel.
The white she-cat began to dig up the plant, not even waiting for Mistheart. It was a little trouble as her silvery paws began to get covered in ashy dust.

The pale brown tabby cat turned and looked at where here apprentice was showing her some bright green leaves that were unmistakably dock leaves. ’Well done,’ she mewed proudly, Lunarpaw was coming along well now. ’Pull them up then, but be careful not to tear the leaves,’ she instructed as Lunarpaw began already.
She left her apprentice to dig up the dock leaves as she padded off in the direction of another patch of dock she had spotted. The ground beneath her white paws was still a little soggy, but nothing compared to yesterday when Lunarpaw had sunk into the mud. Mistheart walked carefully along the ash, her paws stained by the time she reached the dock. She began to carefully dig up the dock leaves, only glancing up occasionally to see how Lunarpaw was doing.

Lunarpaw collected the leaves between her jaws and then padded over to her mentor. She sat down, waitin for Mistheart to tell her what to do. The apprentice dropped her pile in the roots of a tree so that she could go look for more herbs and the ones she collected would stay clean. Her tail flicked as she looked at Mistheart, her yellow eyes focused on the misty pelt. "If I speak to Pebbleheart again do you think he'll tell me what he was trying to say before?"

As Mistheart managed to unearth her dock leaves she padded briskly over to her apprentice as she appeared to be waiting for further instructions. But as she reached it Lunarpaw seemed to be looking for more leaves so she had the right idea of what to do without her. The pale tabby cat smiled to herself, that’s good, she is starting to think for herself now. She then bounded up to her apprentices side to follow in the search for the Coltsfoot they also needed to collect.
As Lunarpaw spoke of Pebbleheart and her dream her blue eyes looked at the white cat knowingly. She knew that it had been on her young mind since the dream. ’I think if you need to know he will let you know,’ she mewed wisely, ’If it is best you don’t know then so it shall be!’ she added, she knew that Starclan would only share the most important things with them.
