Frozenrain70 Moons // Warrior-Queen // StoneClanThis was Frozenrain's first battle patrol. At seventy-one moons, and considered a matriarchal figure in the Clan, Frozenrain was not worried. It was not arrogance that permeated her thoughts or put a sense of certainty in her steps as she gathered the chosen cats. It was necessity. It was belief that her mate's plans were sound — that their moons of waiting were at last coming to fruition.
A storm was gathering overhead. She could practically feel the electricity and the tension in the air, as if the sky were preparing for war. A damp breeze swept through Frozenrain's pale coat. "Sorrelpaw," signature blue eyes found the brown tabby apprentice among the gathered. "Be prepared to run back for reinforcements if we're overrun. I'm counting on all of you to play your part—and most importantly, play fair. We are not LightningClan, we do not take lives unless absolutely necessary." Adamant that StoneClan adhere to the Code, Frozenrain locked eyes with each of the assembled, and her heart thrummed with pride that ran deep as an underground river.
The time to take the Sun Stones had come.
Rallying the battle patrol, Frozenrain led them across the barren scrublands. Normally off-white paws now looked light-brown from the specks of dust and stone flicked into the air by the wind and their paw-steps. When they drew close enough to the border that they could detect the scent line, Frozenrain slowed and with a raised tail, signaled for the battle patrol to approach cautiously. Frozenrain crossed the border first, followed by Darkfrost.
The sun stones felt warm under paw. "Renew the scent markings," she mewed quietly, scanning the moorland for an arriving patrol. She caught a glimpse of ginger fur in the distance, and then that distance quickly began to shorten. They know we're here. Frozenrain's claws unsheathed, and the warrioress let loose a battle yowl to prove that StoneClan was here to stay.
Feeling as immovable as a mountainside, Frozenrain hissed as the small LightningClan patrol collided with the attack party. They outnumbered the LightningClan cats two-to-one; everything was going as Hawkstar had planned. So far.

In the eye of a hurricane there is quiet For just a moment a yellow sky "Do you smell that?" Mapleheart's voice was clear and alerted the other two toms in her party. Sunnyhear's attention shifted to taste the air. The strong reek of StoneClan had filled his senses. They were stealing the border! The three LightingClan cats shared a look, they were all witnesses.
"We need to get a bigger patrol," Sunnyheart told Mapleheart, flicking his tail to ease the nerves building up within them.
"No time, we have to at least make an appearance. Prove that their actions didn't go unnoticed. We can't go back without putting up a fight," Mapleheart explained to the loner-born warrior. Sunnyheart nodded his head in forced agreement. From what he was able to see, they were easily outnumbered. Amber eyes flicked toward Ebonycry, wishing his clan mate would be the second voice of reason, nothing came. Instead, a yowl, sounding a lot like a war cry filled the air around them.
"It won't be easy but he will defend the stones for LightingClan, even if we go home battered and bruised. We do it for LightingClan," Mapleheart added. Sunnyheart nodded again, realizing that Mapleheart was picking up speed. There wasn't time to plan an attack, Sunnyheart would have to rely on his training.
The distance between the two rival groups quickly came to an end. Mapleheart recognized the shape of Frozenrain on top of the stones. Being the proud daughter of Firestar, she saw it fitting that she took on the mate of Hawkstar. She didn't expect to win, the warrior-queen had nearly 20 moons of experience. However, Mapleheart intended to sink her claws into the pretty pelt of the StoneClan cat, give her something to remember her by.
Sunnyheart, noted the shift in Mapleheart's direction and did the same. He guided his own paws toward a pair of warrior flanking the stones. They looked fierce with their eyes moving to focus on him. He had a strong feeling he easily outweighed them, but he'd be taking two warriors on his own. Not an easy task, but one he was willing to take on. Unleashing his own battle cry he launched himself toward the two. Claws stretched wide to grab at fur and flesh.

Sorrelpaw bounded alongside her clanmates, heart beating fast in her ears, two beats for every one step their paws made. She was still reeling from being chosen for this position, but her determination to succeed lent her strength. Her training was almost complete, and a battle will help prove that she deserved her full name. As they raced through the forest, Sorrelpaw felt the sky rumble overhead, thoughts straying briefly to the thought of fighting in the rain. She shook that idea out, knowing that it wouldn't be a problem. Her mentor, somewhere in the pack, would be a physical reminder to keep to her training. The apprentice didn't seek him out, worried that he would see her nerves, but felt the comfort of him anyways. All she had to do was trust Hawkstar's decision, and fight strong.
"Sorrelpaw" She turned her full attention to Frozenrain, listening intently to her instructions. Nodding with understanding, Sorrelpaw shifted on her paws, letting her claws slide out. It was time. Leaping into action following Frozenrain's yell, she aimed for the nearest Lightningclan warrior. Sorrelpaw slashed at the warrior, feeling a presence up against her left. Without turning, she could recognize the scent as Cricketspring. Now it felt like a more fair fight. She could race back to camp easier without leading a Lightningclan cat there.

Frozenrain70 Moons // Warrior-Queen // StoneClanIf anything could be said of LightningClan, it's that they met conflict head on. Frozenrain came face to face with Mapleheart, a well-known senior warrior and the daughter of LightningClan's figurehead, Firestar. A worthy opponent. With Boulderjaw acting as support, the two warrioresses grappled; Frozenrain fought as gracefully as she spoke. Though she hailed from a Clan that called for sturdiness and strength, her movements were fluid—sweeping without expending excess energy. Her talents lied not in any particular area of Clan life; instead, her skills were spread evenly, weaknesses diminished through years of experience and careful observation.
The battle that drove StoneClan into the mountains had taught her well. To be certain. To be unforgiving. Pain flashed through Frozenrain's mind as she remembered her lost kits; LightningClan and RainClan had already been chased from their land once - but would that ever feel like enough? Would the weight of grief ever lessen? In a moment of uncharacteristic brutally, Frozenrain, who had fallen onto her back under Mapleheart's last leap, managed to get her hind legs under the she-cat's belly—and shoved. Mapleheart flew back with a screech, and Frozenrain was back on her paws, even as a twinging muscle in her left haunch stopped her from finishing what she'd started.
Boulderjaw surged ahead, and Frozenrain, her heart pounding in her ears, saw that Mapleheart was struggling to get away. The she-cat looked dazed, breathless.
Defeated.
"Boulderjaw, enough—" but the tom was already upon her. Frozenrain heard the crunch as the StoneClan warrior pounced on her. He landed awkwardly, his paws met with no resistance as her back was bent unnaturally. Boulderjaw scrambled off of the she-cat, and Frozenrain was beside them as quickly as she could manage; Mapleheart was still. Frozenrain saw the way the she-cat's body had twisted in her efforts to rise to her paws, before Boulderjaw's weight had broken her. Such needless loss of life.
"The battle is over!" Frozenrain raised her voice above the din of battle. "LightningClan has lost. Take your dead, return home." A solemn announcement. She watched the shocked expressions around her; a pale ear flicked to catch Boulderjaw's words. "It was an accident," he murmured. Regret in his eyes.
Frozenrain sighed. Victory always came at a price. "Firestar will not see it that way."

In the eye of a hurricane there is quiet For just a moment a yellow sky Sunnyheart collided with the silver she-cat with such force the two tumbled back. Kicking up dust, his claws dug into the StoneClan warrior's fur without pause. The she-cat snarled against his attack and quickly kicked at his belly, forcing Sunnyheart off of her. Regaining his footing, his second enemy jumped onto his back with a wild fury. The brown and black cat dug her claws into Sunnyheart back, the golden tabby let out a growl. Rising up to his hind legs he attempted to toss the she-cat, but she clung harder to his flesh.
Blood pooled against her claws, forcing Sunnyheart to trash harder, more violent. Finally, in a last ditch effort, Sunnyheart dropped to the ground, rolling over to force the she-cat to let go. Free of Dawnchaser, left him open for Darkfrost's attack, the she-cat finally recovered from colliding with him. Careful now not to let either of them too close, Sunnyheart used his broad shoulder to slam them away from him. It was tiring but he wasn't of LightingClan stock, he had more stamina. A gift he was thankful for.
Despite the stamina to keep the she-cats at bay, they realized his tactic and changed their methods of attack. Instead of taking turns, the collided with him at the same time. Be barely managed to keep Darkfrost away but he was meet with the full weight of Dawnchaser to his right shoulder. Rolling again to the ground, Sunnyheart prevented her digging into him anymore but her claws at scratched at his face. Blood started to flow down his face, Dawnchaser had managed to tear at his ears.
The new wounds strung but he couldn't give up, not until Mapleheart called them back. The golden tabby tried to look for his other clanmate but found it impossible. His two opponents were keeping him busy until the sound of Frozenrain's words forced him to stop.
Her voice said the battle was over, he didn't take his eyes away from the StoneClan cats until he heard the word 'dead'. Confusion filled him as he lost all focus on the two she-cats and looked toward Hawkstar's mate, a retreating tom whispering something to her. Unsure of who was dead, Sunnyheart bolted away from his own fighting ground to see the slumped form of Mapleheart. He had been so distracted by the two she-cats that he hadn't kept an eye on Maplehaert, guilt filled his chest.
"You will pay for this!" Sunnyheart shouted toawrd the leaving StoneClan cats, before turning his attention to Mapleheart. Thankfully his heart was still pounding enough to keep him alert and strong enough to bend down to hoist Mapleheart up. He drapped the bulk of Mapleheart's body of his back, wincing at the pain of his battlewounds. He turned toward Ebonycry and waited for his other clanmate to join him. It was time to go home, defeated and heartbroken.

Although there wasn't a lot of cats in the space, Sorrelpaw felt her throat tighten. The action of the fight cats blurred her vision into shapes of menace against the smooth stones, claws and glittering eyes flashing. She tried to breathe deeply, but the smell of the two clashing clans overwhelmed her, their anger, the yowls and sharp exhales of being hit were noises that could not be ignored. A frustrated hiss caught her attention, details suddenly throwing themselves into focus as her world moved. Cricketspring had shoved against Sorrelpaw, sending her stumbling away, but avoiding a nasty bite from their opponent. "Focus!" The warrior snapped before going back to attack, voice harsh out of concern. Sorrelpaw lashed her tail, unable to find her voice to respond with her apology.
Leaping back into the action, Sorrelpaw circled Ebonycry and Cricketspring, waiting for an opening. focus, focus, focus, she chanted in her head, finding herself admiring the warriors. Both were strong cats, with solid blows that drew blood easily. No cat would escape unscathed. In an almost in-sync shift, the two warriors got up onto their back paws to batter each other's ears and Sorrelpaw saw her break. She slid down low, claws aiming for Ebonycry's back legs. Catching the fur, the warrior was unbalanced, and sent stumbling onto the apprentice. Expecting this result, Sorrelpaw bit and kicked with her back legs, trying to wind the warrior enough to send her fleeing. Ebonycry did not back down though, and rolled in an effort to dislodge the apprentice. Instead, they both tumbled, the ground suddenly vanishing beneath them.
Fear made Sorrelpaw's heart leap and stomach drop, then they met the ground hard, the impact knocking her breath out in one large gust. A warning of pain traveled up her spine, screaming into her brain. She could hear the she-cat underneath her gasping for air that had abruptly left her lungs. "Get off!" Ebonycry shrieked, clawing in a frantic scramble. Sorrelpaw rushed to get free, clambering uselessly against the stone that surrounded the pair. Pain laced up her right back leg as they shifted, but she ignored it. Starclan, please don't let me drown in stone! she prayed, panic echoing in her head.
"Hold on!" Cricketspring's voice sounded above, and teeth found her scruff. Sorrelpaw felt herself being lifted, aiding her rescue with paws searching for purchase as grooves appeared. As she shifted upward, the pain screamed again in her mind, blocking out all her senses. She fought the urge to pass out, driving her full attention onto finding a steady spot for her paws. With a spot found, she heaved herself out. The earth cannot take any cat! She thought fiercely and swiveled around to help the warrior out as well. Her help resulted in claws on her shoulders, but it was a solid enough spot for Ebonycry to use.
Sorrelpaw did not wait to see what Ebonycry was going to do. Stumbling away, she felt her pulse shift from her chest to her back leg, and a sharp wetness against her fur. A familiar voice signaled the end of this fight, then the world tilted as she fell into blackness.
