This is who I am. This is what I feel. Every time I dream, a rain falls over me. The sun was heavy in the sky, an ebbing reminder that Greenleaf was in full swing over the valley. The Stoneclan camp was particularly subject to the weather, the stones pulsing with heat under the high noon sky. Mistpetal padded back into camp slowly, her jaw laced with a duo of plump mice which she quickly went ahead and dropped atop the fresh kill pile. As the she-cat slowly began to distance herself from the fresh prey, she found her thoughts renewed with vigor and determination. It was soon high noon and that meant that it would soon be time for the Sun Stone patrol; she pawed the ground in excitement, her claws flexing in anticipation.
With a quick glance around the camp, Mistpetal's eyes locked with Flickerleaf, a younger warrior whom she'd run into a couple times in the past; Without much thought she nodded, leaping down from her current stone perch to land squarely a cat's length away from the other she-cat. Mistpetal nodded slightly, her eyes masking over the pain that ran its course through her body. Flickerleaf had become an apprentice around the time that Mistpetal received her first and only apprentice moons ago, the loss of said cat to the perilous cliffs, keeping her from actively asking Hawkstar for a new apprentice. Despite the pain rumbling in the depth of her soul, Mistpetal managed a soft smile towards the warrior before speaking.
"Are you ready for the patrol? I've been told we're going to the sun stones. Just because Lightningclan thinks they can use it as some sort of training grounds, doesn't mean that we should just let them have it." There was an undertone of annoyance and disgust as Mistpetal spoke about Lightningclan. The cats across the border had only ever really been a hindrance to Mistpetal, her interactions with them not only negative but few and far between. She flicked her ears dismissively, an air of softness returning to her as she added, "In any case, let me go find Hawkstar, let him know we're leaving."
The warrior flicked her tail as she moved smoothly, her muscles reacting with such a finesse to each of her demands, making her way towards the Leader's den, where she was certain she'd find Hawkstar. She found him easily, his scent being one she had long since memorized, and quickly went to put her self in his line of vision before speaking. "Hawkstar, Greetings." She said with a small bow of her head, "I'm about to head out on the high-noon patrol with Flickerleaf, I was going to update our scent marks along the Lightningclan border, remind them that the sun stones belong rightfully to Stoneclan. In any case, I was wondering if you had any other warrior in mind to accompany us. I'm sure we'd be fine the two of us, but numbers are always welcome, especially when it comes to borders."
The she-cat blinked slowly, her eyes following her leader's expressions for a moment before spinning, her excitement getting the better of her. "I'll get Flickerleaf and we'll wait just on the outskirts of camp, you know me, I'm never one to turn down the opportunity to hunt for the clan." The she-cat quickly made her way towards the border, a new fire in her chest as she moved with each step. As of late Mistpetal found the clan meaning so much more to her and she couldn't help but feel herself driven to do all she could, after all the losses they'd suffered due to Greencough.
She found the other she-cat with ease, and without so much as a word beckoned Mistpetal began to make her way to the outskirts of the camp, beyond eager to get this patrol on the road.

Flickerleaf
Soaking in the rays the mid-day sun had to offer Flickerleaf prepared herself for Mistpetal's return, stretching out her limbs readying herself for the trek to the Sun Stones. Just as she finished Mistpetal appeared Flickerleaf exchanged a look with her that could mean nothing other than she was ready for their patrol. Following in suit of the she-cat Flickerleaf inspected Mistpetal from a short distance away, they hadn't spent to much time together, even with all the patrol missions that Flickerleaf had volunteered for. The edge of camp neared Flickerleaf rubbed her already roughened paws against the stone and readied herself. A few minutes had passed since they reached the edge of camp and the sun's relentless heat continued to beat down upon the rocks Flickerleaf paced around on in the outskirts of camp, every step a scorching nightmare for a cat of any other clan ill prepared for the terrain but not for senior members of the StoneClan. Flickerleaf spotted a large eagle a ways of in the distance sitting high in the sky soaring through the rays of sun that shot down upon the mountain far out from the outskirt of the camp. She stared for a moment to see if there was any commotion but shuddered at the thought of being near it, the large claws grasping down and the sound of their screeches filling the air above. She hated birds especially big ones given her dramatic past as a young kit. “Those things give me the creeps.” Flickerleaf caught Mistpetal's attention and pointed her snout towards the far off eagle. Expecting a laugh or mocking to come from the Warrior she-cat she was surprised when there wasn't a response as such. She shook off the distraction of the birds presence it wasn't anywhere near them or where they were heading anyways, the path they would take out of camp winded upward on the side of a cliff that was bright gray bleached by the sun, and on this day especially you could hear the sizzle of the heat evaporating any water that was hiding in refuge within the stone's cracks. Bathing in the suns rays Flickerleaf closed her eyes for a moment she was slightly exhausted from the late night stroll she took around camp but that wouldn't hinder her, nothing would. “Sorry for the distraction, I have had a bad experience with birds in the past.” She admired the Mistpetal in the way a daughter would a strong mother, she wondered if the kits around the clan saw her in the same light as she saw Mistpetal at this moment. “Tell me a bit about yourself, we haven't talked much in the past I would like to change that.” With a sweet tone in her voice Flickerleaf looked over and smiled at Mistpetal curious to learn about the she-cat. Flickerleaf had been to the Sun Stones on a previous patrol once before, she could still vaguely remember the paths they took across their territory. Catching a large breath of fresh air Flickerleaf prepped herself for the journey ahead and for anything that might occur during it.

Hawkstar may your dreams be larger than mountains The big sand-colored tom had just finished a conversation with Wolfclaw concerning some upcoming patrols when Mistpetal sauntered up to him with a rush of words flowing from her mouth. His ears pricked in mild alarm, doing his best to keep up with what she was telling him. Sun-high patrol. LightningClan border. Sun Stones. Flickerleaf. He was fairly certain he'd succeeded in gathering all the necessary information, but before he could actually reply, she'd darted off again, leaving him with his jaws opened slightly and his pale amber eyes blinking at the spot where Mistpetal had been standing not more than a pawful of heartbeats ago.
Slowly looking over his shoulder to his deputy, the StoneClan figurehead cast a puzzled glanced at the gray furred tom. "What just happened?" He asked, only to have Wolfclaw chuckle with a shrug of his shoulders. "Hawkstar, I'd say we're getting too old for this. We're slowing down, while the rest of the Clan speeds up. Do you want me to go with them?" Offered the gray deputy. With a smirk of his own and a shake of his head, the sand-colored StoneClan leader straightened. "We'll have to try harder to keep up then, Wolfclaw." He rumbled.
"As for this patrol, I think I'll join them myself. Seems there are still some... Bubbling emotions surrounding the Sun Stones. Let's see if I can't curb this one myself." Wolfclaw nodded his head in understanding, reassuring the large StoneClan leader he would look after the Clan in his absence. With a grateful nod of his head, Hawkstar started down the familiar path toward the StoneClan camp entrance. Mistpetal and Flickerleaf's scents weren't too difficult to pick up, seeing as the two she-cats had only recently exited the main camp area. It wasn't long before his ears picked up on a conversation.
Pausing where he was so as not to interrupt Mistpetal's answer to Flickerleaf's inquiry, Hawkstar focused on the sounds around him. He wasn't the type of tom to eavesdrop on a conversation between Clanmates if he could help it, so he did his best to block them out until he was certain the gray she-cat had finished her explanation. Moving forward on sturdy paws, the tom approached the two patrol-goers with a dip of his muzzle and a kind smile. "Flickerleaf, Mistpetal. I hope you two do not mind if I join you today for the sunhigh patrol." leader of stoneclan and may you have the courage to scale their summits background image | harley king | @minxxy @vextha | table by phoenix

This is who I am. This is what I feel. Every time I dream, a rain falls over me. Mistpetal stood at ease, her muscles calm and still under her silver coat, despite the ruckus that slowly folded over itself under the surface of her eyes. There was a hatred brewing in the she-cat as she continued to let her thoughts drift to the Sun stones, a sourness almost palatable in her throat. It wasn't often that the warrior let her emotions get the better of her, in fact it was quite rare, but when it came to Lightningclan the she-cat couldn't help but remember all the small details of her youth and of the war between Stoneclan and Stormclan, Determined to not let her mind get the best of her on such a nice day, Mistpetal twisted her head, looking over at Flickerleaf just as she spoke, an ever so slight warmness overtaking her expression.
“Those things give me the creeps.” Mistpetal's eyes followed the notion brought forward by the younger she-cat, tracing after an eagle circling lazily under the greenleaf sun. Whisker's twitched as Mistpetal found herself drawn after the bird, moving only past its hypnotizing movements to listen once again to the other she-cat's words. Flickerleaf asked for Mistpetal to elaborate on herself, a question which halted the warrior's current mental trajectory, sending her into a brief mental blankness. A moment passed, and another as Mistpetal tried to formulate her thoughts and her words, deep blue locking with Flickerleaf only once she was ready to speak.
"Not much to know, I'm afraid. I don't talk to my family, not that there is any negativity between us, rather we just do not have anything to talk about. I love the clan, I live for the clan and the clan alone." The she-cat paused for a trivial moment, flicking her ears as a breeze blew overhead, returning to the topic at hand, "I had an apprentice once, and things went south. I'll never forgive myself for what happened to her, so, I guess, I try to make up for it everyday and in every way I can; as if bringing back all the prey across the territory will help soothe the grief that I feel over her death."
Mistpetal found herself blinking, confused over her blunt honesty, despite the fact that she was usually one to try and avoid portraying herself so honestly to those she hardly knew, yet here in front of the warrior the same age as her apprentice would have been, she couldn't help but gush. "I still remember our first hunt. She had the finest Stoneclan blood coursing through her veins, I-" Mistpetal choked on her words, "I would do anything to change the course of her life, whatever Starclan could possible ask of me, even my own life if it would have made a difference." The warrior, clearly slightly distraught, flicked her tail dismissively, changing the subject, "What about you, Flickerleaf? How is life in Stoneclan treating you?"
Mistpetal straightened herself, stretching the reborn grief out of her shoulders, intent on listening to the other she-cat's reply when she noticed movement in her peripherals, turning to see Hawkstar himself. Any brief amount of shock at the leader's appearance was covered briefly by a respectful nod at his arrival. Intently, the warrior watched the tom, blinking approval as he spoke, "Of course, I can't think of anyone better suited."
As Mistpetal prepared herself to depart towards the sun stones, she couldn't help but catch Flickerleaf's gaze, speaking with a slight coyness to her voice, "No pressure, you don't have to divulge all your secrets." Unsure of how to follow up on the humor that Mistpetal found hilarious, she simply winked and flicked her tail playfully, turning her attention forward, into the distance. "Shall we?"
Mistpetal slowly set off, her pace comfortable and easy to keep up with.

Flickerleaf
Mistpetal locked a gaze with Flickerleaf, perking her ears up in suspense to hear what her clan member had to say. Flickerleaf and the older she-cat warrior had a common ground in the fact both would do anything to protect and look over the clan this warmed Flickerleaf's heart causing her to let out a light purr followed by a feint smile on her face. Surprised to hear Mistpetal open up about her ex-apprentice. Flickerleaf's heart reeled for Mistpetal and her loss of an apprentice, she would have never guessed that something like this had happened to Mistpetal she was always so strong and stalwart. Flickerleaf bowed her head in respect and empathy for the she-cat's words. "What about you, Flickerleaf? How is life in Stoneclan treating you?" Gleeful that Mistpetal had open up a bit to her Flickerleaf stretched for a second after sitting and listening intently ready and comfortable she looked again back at Mistpetal and mewed “This clan is my home and family, it treats me as such as well.” Pausing for a brief second to plan her next words Flickerleaf caught them and continued on. “I get to spend a lot of time with the young kits and it makes me feel fulfilled that I can be a sort of role model to them much like you and the elder members of our clan are to me. Hopefully one day I can mentor one of the kits that I look over and see them grow into a great clan member but I have yet to receive a apprentice yet. My only concer... ” Flickerleaf paused as Mistpetal seemed to get distracted at that last sentence. Worried she had hit a sour note talking of apprentices she went to apologize until a Familiar scent popped up and a Cat came into view, it was Hawkstar. Flickerleaf was relieved to see him not only because they could begin their trek to the sun stones but because she wasn't sure if she was ready to reveal her worries about finding a suitable mate. Flickerleaf looked over to “Hawkstar it is good to see you, we do not mind at all if anything we would be honored if you would join us.” Trying to hide her complete awe at the fact she would be accompanied by both of them Flickerleaf sprang up with the sound of Mistpetal's question and followed in step with her as they made their leave for the Sun Stones.

Hawkstar may your dreams be larger than mountains Hawkstar smiled warmly to each of the she-cats, noting Flickerleaf's awe with mild amusement. Mistpetal was old enough that she'd likely known him as Hawkwing, deputy of StoneClan. For Flickerleaf, on the other paw, it might seem as though his reign as leader was endless. Fallenleaf had named him as her deputy forty two moons ago; sometimes, his role as a StoneClan figurehead felt endless, even to him. He could understand the younger warrior's view on him. He'd certainly looked up to Boulderstar in a similar light when the great gray furred leader had ruled over the Clan in Hawkstar's youth.
Realizing his age was likely greater than the two other she-cats combined, the sand-colored tom shook his head with a chuckle. "Mistpetal, I can think of many members of our Clan that would be better suited as a travel companion. These old bones of mine are not as quick as they used to be." With a polite wave of his tail, he invited the two other patrol members to take the lead, falling into step behind them. Despite his previous statement, the big tom kept up rather well, his large stride covering ground with ease as they traveled the long-since familiar territory.
Although he hoped both she-cats were aware, the sandy figurehead felt he would be remiss if he failed to issue a reminder to the patrol members. "We go no further than the LightningClan scent-markings between our territory and the Sun Stones. Despite what many of us feel in your hearts, the reality is the Sun Stones currently do not belong to us. StoneClan will not lower ourselves to such petty actions as trespassing." There was a heavy seriousness to his voice, and it was clear the tom was not a fan of the current ownership of the Sun Stones.
But that will change soon. He told himself firmly. StoneClan would reclaim the Sun Stones before Greenleaf's end. In fact, he'd seriously considered sending the patrol to push the border back to its original position several times since Greenleaf had begun. Yet, somewhere along the way Hawkstar had decided to wait until a cooler day; the heat could be unbearable, leading to needless wastes of energy. He wished to avoid that as long as possible. Realizing he'd been quiet, the mountainous tom refocused on his two traveling companions, ears pricking to pick up any conversation. "How has Greenleaf been treating both of you?" He inquired kindly. leader of stoneclan and may you have the courage to scale their summits background image | harley king | @minxxy @vextha | table by phoenix

This is who I am. This is what I feel. Every time I dream, a rain falls over me. There was an intensity in Mistpetal's eyes, deep as the Rainclan river itself, pouring forward as Flickerleaf spoke. The warrior found her attention intent and sole in its purpose, devouring the words with an earnest ease. Mistpetal's attention diverted as Hawkstar arrived, her ears swiveling in his direction that he came from. For a moment the warrior was able to detect an inkling of amusement across her leader's face, enough to send a smile onto her own lips. She greeted him with a flick of her tail, listening now to his own words, "Mistpetal, I can think of many members of our Clan that would be better suited as a travel companion. These old bones of mine are not as quick as they used to be."
The she-cat found a small ounce of playfulness building in her chest at the leader's words, as he retorted, with quick dexterity, "Flickerleaf and I are both much smaller in stature than you. I doubt you would have even outrunning us." the she-cat caught herself, biting back the playful sarcasm that she could feel coming on, nervous to destroy the illusion that seemed have been built up in the other warrior's mind; instead she just simply nodded. Mistpetal found herself nodding continually as the leader continued on to speak, agreeing with his words firmly, despite her hatred for Lightningclan's ownership of the sun stones.
The trio set out on route for the sun stones, the path, that had become worn down by generation of paw steps, was easy to find, even among the life of Greenleaf. In the distance, just at the edge of her senses, Mistpetal could pick up the sounds of life, the small snapping of twigs and the scrapping against stones, drawing the she-cat in, sending a rush of endorphin through her muscles as she briefly toyed with the idea of the hunt. And yet, despite all the life there was a calmness to the territory that day, noted Mistpetal, her eves returning keenly on the horizon, catching sight of what had once been her favorite piece of Stoneclan territory. The sun stones beckoned the she-cat forward, their large inviting surfaces, drawing at every ounce of Mistpetal's attention, unlike any other cat had the power to do. Momentarily, she looked over at Hawkstar, her eyes clouding over with an unmasked amount of sadness, before returning her eyes back the territory they had lost.
Mistpetal might have been able to keep calm, had it not been for the hulking mass of tom, padding across the sun stones, a toothy grin flashing under his green eyes. Not even a cat's length from the new border, Thrushwhisker sat himself, his tail flicking with a defiant boredom as he watched the Stoneclan patrol arrive, absorbing each one is full detail. Instantly, the tom's attention was piqued once he noticed Hawkstar, prompting a small, amused, howl of laughter, "Ahh, if it isn't Stoneclan's finest. Have you come to mourn over lost territory?" he meowed, his strong claws flexing across the stone below him, a heinous screeching sound echoing after his words as the warrior dragged his claws across the heavy stone.
The tom stood, noticing a flame of anger spread across the silver she-cat that stood across the border, prompting him to stand and creep over slowly, "Or maybe, you've come to try and reclaim lost ground?" Thrushwhisker couldn't help himself but to gloat, the heat off the sun stones awakening the fire that pounded through his blood viciously.

Flickerleaf, "The earth has music for those who listen." Upon the trio's arrival at their destination Flickerleaf scanned the border of their clans territory, a slight shimmer of heat protruded from the ground when she caught sight of a LightningClan member. The rather large figure put Flickerleaf on edge, him being only a mere cat's reach away from the border of the two territories left little room for them to flee if tensions rose to high and would likely lead to a fight that could end with someone being injured. Perking her ears up as the Tom spoke "Or maybe, you've come to try and reclaim lost ground?" Flickerleaf could feel him attempt to strike a nerve between Hawkstar Mistpetal and herself. Glancing over to see Mistpetal's anger spill out in reaction to the tom's words. From the corner of her eye she noticed Thrushwhisker stand up he was large in fact a lot more so than Flickerleaf had given him credit for. Something felt off though about him he was different than other member's of his clan Flickerleaf had encountered. Shaking the chill from her spine she paced next to Mistpetal and planted her paws fiercely onto the heated ground beneath her.
They outnumbered him three to one there was no way things could go too south. Flickerleaf was ready to protect her clan and this constant conflict over territory would only lead to trouble. Looking directly into the LightningClan member's eyes, “We are not here to mourn, nor to reclaim our lost ground we are here to update our mark on our territory to give those that would attempt to tarnish it a strong warning not to do so” Flickerleaf warned. Something seemed mysterious about this tom, Flickerleaf could not figure out the feeling she had. She thought to her self why is he here alone, he has to either be a complete fool or very confident in his abilities to be here like this by him self. With a scan of the terrain behind him Flickerleaf began to believe it was highly likely he was the only one from the LightningClan here, but she would still keep an eye glued to the surroundings for safety's sake. “Why are you here?” Flickerleaf demanded.
Awaiting some possibly snarky response from Thrushwhisker similar to the tom's previous comments Flickerleaf stood her ground with a strong fortitude her eyes fixed on him. Studying his every breath, blink and movement staying fully alert on the situation the three StoneClan members found themselves in.
