It bothered her still, to walk out of the nursery. She knew the nursery was safe for she and her kits, but now that they were older they needed to get out of the nursery. And she wasn't going to let them go alone. So she'd told the three little balls of fluff that it was alright to go out and followed them, watching over them quietly while the girls frolicked in the piles of snow that had built up around her. They were strong now, still a little undersized given that they were a full moon older than their adopted brother, but at least they were strong now.
They would be trained at the same time, which was for the best. The gray she-cat sat down and folded her tail over her paws before looking to the youngest of her three kits. "Aspenkit, why don't you go and play. It will soon be too cold to come out like this, and newleaf is a very long way away."
She still needed to get used to the 'kit' prefix behind the little ones. If she had her way, they'd be Fawn, Amber, and Aspen. No kit attached. But that was wrong for naming here, and she listened to what Lionstar told her. She needed to stay here through until newleaf at least, but with her kits...she was starting to think she would be asking to stay after all. It wasn't as if she had anything else to do with herself, after all.
I respect those who tell me the truth, no matter how hard it is.
Aspenkit watched as his sister played in the snow outside of the nursery. He watched them from a timid spot just behind his mother's frame. It wasn't that he didn't like the snow, it was that he didn't like the wet feeling once it started to melt. Despite it Aspenkit moved closer to his mother at the sound of her voice. He pressed his nose into her warm fur and found comfort in her scent.
"I don't like the feeling of melted snow on my fur,"He voiced his oppion easily as he watched Fawnkit play. He wouldn't mind joining them but his personal comfort was more important but it did look like fun.
Content for the moment to be close to his mother, he moved to that he was sitting between her paws. He poked her tail with a forepaw as a silent request for her tail to tuck around him. "I think I'm too cold to play,"He added after a moment as a breeze ruffled his kitten-soft fur. Aspenkit titled his head to look up at his mother and offered her a smile. "I love you mom," He told her without reason aside from not being the type to hide emotion.
Moonfeather smiled as the tiny tom-kit cuddled into her fur, leaning over to give him a lick on top of his head before straightening up. Her little tom didn't like the cold, which she didn't blame him for. With her short fur she didn't much like it either. She wondered how long this Clan considered a she-cat with kits a queen. Since they were old enough to be apprenticed now, would they leave the nursery? Would she then need to do the same?
The poke earned her kit a soft laugh before she lifted her tail to tug him into the space between her paws and tuck her tail back around him. This had been her favorite place to sit when she was a kit, except it had always been to her father since he was larger.
Her smile was beaming as he spoke to her, and she leaned over to lick him again affectionately. "I love you too. I'll tell you what, I'll wrangle your sisters in a little while and we'll find somewhere in the nursery to play. Where its nice and warm."
