Description:
From the moment Thornkit was brought into the world, it was obvious he was his father's son. His features speak to his Maine Coon heritage, with thick fur covering his frame. His muzzle is decorated by white whiskers that stand out against his brown fur. Prominent ears topped by a lynx-like ear tuft sit proudly atop his head, able to move in nearly any direction he might require them too. His ears are expressive, but be warned; he uses them to best you. Despite their expressive nature, they are not always truthful. Little Thornkit quickly learnt how best to use his ears to his advantage. He can get you to believe almost anything if you pay his ears too much heed.
Young Thornkit is dominated by light brown fur, splashed with dark tabby stripes much like his father. The stark color differences in his fur are nearly startling, though these will fade with time. As he steps though apprenticeship, his pelt will darken a few shades, with only his tan muzzle, eye ridges and neck fur sticking out. The tan coloring will appear at the ends of his long, adulthood fur, but he will remain dominated by dark tabby fur. Directly opposing his darkening fur, Thornkit's eyes will lighten as he ages. Born with deep, near-brown amber eyes, he will remain with the darker shade until late apprenticeship or early warriorhood. From then on, his eyes will appear a lighter amber, almost yellow in some lights.
Thornkit will come to sport an extremely thick pelt, inherited from both his parents. Much like his mother's, it will be soft so long as he remembers to groom it. Due to its thickness, it is more likely to get caught in thorn bushes or brambles. ...Not that he exactly takes notice of it. One advantage of having so much fur is that there is much of it to spare. A second advantage to his dense fur is the insulation it will provide during the Leafbare months. He'll struggle most in Greenleaf, when the sun is at its peak for long periods of time. In Leafbare, however, he'll become the perfect cuddle buddy should a cat find themselves a little on the chilly side.
Though most of his build will be concealed by his brown tabby pelt, Thornkit will grown to be a well-built tom. Anyone who doubts that need simply glance to his paws. Despite not being huge, his paws will be above average in size, to better accommodate his muscled build. Strong, somewhat wide-splaying toes better ground him on solid ground. Because of his build and thick fur, he will never be the best hunter, or most agile tree-climber. It is when it comes time to defend his Clan with tooth and claw that he will shine brightest.
Description Summary: A thick-furred, brown tabby tom with light amber eyes.
Personality:
Throughout his time in the nursery, and through much of his time in the apprentice den, Thornkit will strive for causing trouble. There will be little he enjoys more than wreaking havoc on the denizens of his abode, whether it be startling a cricket into a throng of unsuspecting she-cats or rigging the fresh-kill pile so the poor unfortunate soul who next visits it will manage to send it tumbling to the ground. The only cat safe from his pranks is his mother, Silentsong. He would never dream of pranking her. Although he will never completely grow out of his love for pranks, his actions will become less kit-like with age. A little tease here, a playful swat there; this will become more his style.
Thornkit will also easily be defined as brazen. Having grown up fathered by a tom who lacks not confidence, he will know no other way to behave. Shame is not something easily understood to him, the tom preferring to live in the moment rather than lament on things he cannot change. He very much believes in the importance of putting your past behind you. Because of this, he will require a patient mentor, one who won't find themselves irritated by Thornkit's intrepid, an occasionally stupid risks. He will never be the quickest learner; he doesn't lack any intelligence, he would just rather see the tree bend to his every whim than admit headbutting it hurts.
Confident and cocky nature aside, Thornkit did inherit something a little... Softer from his father. Even as a youngster, Thornkit feels a strong sense of family, and that will only grow as he pads through the various stages of life. To the young tom, Silentsong perches on a pedestal that no one can live up to; she is perfect in every way. The perfect queen, the perfect warrior, the perfect mother. For this reason, he constantly strives to make her smile, to make her laugh. To him, she is most beautiful when she is happy, and he has made it his mission to ensure she is always happy. Although Silentsong will always hold a special place in his heart, his affection and desire to bring a smile to a cat's face will likely shift toward a crush or potential mate during warriorhood. The gentleness he exhibits with Silentsong is quickly put aside when it comes to his father or brother. He shows his affection toward them through jokes and lighthearted insults.
Last, but certainly not least, Thornkit will grow to be a charming tom. Always cracking grins, he will take great pride in making she-cats swoon as a warrior. Spirited and debonair, he will never shy away from being the life of the party. Adorned with a figurative silver tongue, Thornkit will develop a knack for eloquence and persuasiveness in speech. Paired with those StarClan-damned ears of his, this tom could find a way to sweet-talk his way out of almost any situation. Be wary of this one, girls. Though it may not be his ultimate goal, he may end up breaking a few hearts along the way.
History:
This story begins with a chance meeting at StarClan's claws. Zuma, a loner tom, stumbled across Brokensong, a mute TreeClan warrioress. Despite her inability to talk, the tortoiseshell she-cat managed to win over the tom's heart; and as it would turn out, he won hers just as quickly. Greatly intrigued by one another, the pair endeavored to meet again. Eventually, Zuma was introduced to Brokensong's father, Thornshadow. It was from this orange tabby that he learnt the story behind Brokensong's name, though Zuma would never completely condone the name itself.
Tragedy bloomed in the shape of a fire consuming TreeClan's home. Without a second thought, Zuma dove into the burning forest, desperate to save Brokensong and Thornshadow. Though he found the pretty tortoiseshell, he would be too late to save Thornshadow. Seeing her struck by such intense grief, Zuma refused to leave her side, using the chaos as a form of camouflage to stay amongst the Clan cats. Eventually, TreeClan's leader, Lionstar, would find him. And it became quite apparent Zuma would not leave her again. Seeing as Zuma would spend his next days with Brokensong, or repairing the damaged TreeClan camp, he was eventually allowed to remain with TreeClan for good. Through an outsider's ceremony, Lionstar gave Zuma his warrior name; Zephyrfang.
It didn't take long for the pair to become mates. They would remain content with the designation for several moons, until Zephyrfang's mind began wandering toward kits. Fearing what such young minds would think of Brokensong's suffix, he and Brokensong engaged in a heartfelt discussion as he tried to make her see things the way he saw them. Eventually, she agreed, and the pair approached Lionstar who more than happily conducted another ceremony. This time, it was to free her from the name Brokensong, and dub her Silentsong. Life continued peacefully for the pair until...
An impromptu discussion with TreeClan's resident permanent warrior-queen quickly revealed Silentsong was pregnant! The next two moon passed in a flurry of excitement, until finally, the pair welcomed two beautiful toms to the nursery. The first born was a brown tabby tom, named Thornkit in honor of Silentsong's late father. The second born, though closer in color to Thornshadow, was named Finchkit for the strength of his mew upon entering the world. There would be no 'Broken Little Songbirds' in this litter.
