Redstar
The sky was painted a dark shade of blue before the LightningClan leader even began to think about retreating to her nest for the night. It had been a long, yet rewarding day and though the red tabby she-cat's whole body was moaning with exhaustion, she was very much reluctant to settle down. There aren't enough hours in the day, the red tabby she-cat let her eyes stray to the sky above, starlit and totally still.
Drinking in the cool night air, the LightningClan leader paused for a moment to let her luminous amber orbs take in the sight of her camp below, at last still as the last of the warriors disappeared into their dens. Rarely was the camp so devoid of movement, so perfectly serene and quiet. Slowly, Redstar released the breath she'd been holding before at last moving onwards, cautiously picking her way up the hill top and to the badger warren that hosted her den.
It brought sweet relief to inhale the familiar musty scent of her den as she thrust her way through the lichen screen, shedding the blanket of moonlight and casting it aside for the cloak of the shadows themselves. The red tabby she-cat paused where she stood for a moment, smoothing down her ruffled chest fur with several hurried rasps of the tongue. When at last content that her pelt lay flat, she gravitated towards her mossy nest, ready to sink into the gentle arms of sleep.
It was only when she inhaled a deep breath that she finally noticed her unexpected visitor. A small frown settled upon the LightningClan leader's expression and, pupils expanding to accommodate for the darkness, she peered into the shadows. Great StarClan, who's up here? And why?
It was only a couple of heartbeats before she spotted the gently dozing body in her nest. It was but a small kit with a pelt as white as snow.
"Dovekit? What in the name of StarClan..." Redstar broke off, trying to work out how the kit had managed to sneak away from the watchful eyes of her mother unseen.
Tilting her head a little, Redstar cautiously moved forward. Extending a forepaw, she reached out to rouse the she-kit with a gentle prod. It saddened her to be waking the kit when she looked so peaceful, but she knew Firebird was bound to be missing her and she couldn't just leave her here. She wasn't at all angry at the young cat, just a little surprised to find her up here.
Clearing her throat, Redstar spoke in a quiet, gentle tone that she reserved only for the younger members of her clan, "Dovekit?"
