Adderstrike Fangs Of A Viper I am not alone, Not beaten down just yet I am not afraid, Of the voices in my head
The sun rose above the tips of the trees, the rays shimmering through leaves. Wind billowed around, wafting the scent of prey all throughout Treeclan's territory. With no clouds in the sky, it looked to be a nice day to hunt. The cats around Treeclan's camp were filling around, getting things done in a rather orderly fashion.
The broad shouldered ginger and white tom pushed himself out of the Warriors den, and gave a stretch of his shoulders, enjoying the fact that he had been able to sleep in after doing a rather late Dusk Patrol with a couple of other warriors who had enjoyed their late snooze as well.
With a flicker of an ear, the temperamental tomcat gave a glance at the Nursery as he passed, his cold eyes softening as he thought of his malnourished sister who had locked herself inside, away from the sun and the world in a deep depression. Shaking his head, he returned his gaze to a fierce emotion and made his way towards the camp entrance, glancing around to find the she-cat who was suppose to accompany him on a small hunting patrol.
Those liquid blue orbs found the silver Somalia she-cat he was trying to pinpoint and paused to growl out her name in a irritated fashion. "Lichenfrost!" When her pale green eyes met with his, he felt an unfamiliar shiver run down his spine and something worm through his stomach.
It wasn't that he found her attractive, or so he thought. Maybe he was just already annoyed with her. That was probably it.
They were so similar in attitude and temperament, Adderstrike would probably be annoyed with himself should he be any other cat of Treeclan. It made him wonder how this hunting patrol would go. Of course, one of two ways.
One would be they would get along famously and somehow Adderstrike would come back with Lichenfrost, the female Adderstrike, as his new best friend, and they would terrorize Treeclan together with their attitudes.
Or two. They killed each other and scared away all the prey in Treeclan.
Honestly, Adderstrike wasn't which sure he wanted to happen.
Without waiting for a reply, Adderstrike spoke again, his rough voice echoing in his throat. "Hurry up. The prey isn't going to wait for you to find it." There was a frustrated twitch of his tail as he turned and shoved through the barrier, making his way into Treeclan territory.
With his nose pointed in front of him, his paws set him towards the Deciduous Woods. Maybe they'd just ignore each other and one hunt in the trees while the other to the ground. Adderstrike, of course, would prefer the ground.
He glanced over a broad, ginger shoulder, blue orbs catching sight of Lichenfrost's long furred body and green eyes, feeling that strange shiver through his body again. He shook his head, trying to rid himself of that odd, and strangely okay feeling.

L I C H E N F R O S T - - - - - - She had been enjoying the sunlight just beyond the warriors’ den, sitting by herself, eyelids closed, content to be left alone with nothing but her own privacy. Considering that so few cats could come anywhere near her without immediately getting on her nerves, she often preferred to be alone. It, after all, was not always easy being required to verbally lash out at her fellow TreeClanners until they could no longer stand to be in her presence. There were so many faults for her observational eyes to pick out; who would be the one to acknowledge them all, if not her?
Her pale green eyes fluttered open, head arching over her shoulders to meet Adderstrike’s sharp gaze as he beckoned her towards him begrudgingly. She had almost forgotten that there was another venomous-tongued feline among TreeClan’s ranks, arguably as hot-headed as she was at times. When he turned away from her, presumably to lead the way to wherever they would be hunting, she burned daggers into the back of his head, not entirely pleased with his tone of voice. Nonetheless, she departed from her comfortable spot in the sun to follow him. Her rising temper was soothed by the thought that, should he persist with his aggressive comments, then she would be free to retaliate. She expected that Adderstrike, more so than the others, at least, would be able to handle whatever harsh words she could throw at him. It was one of the things that she respected about him - and that wasn’t something she gave out lightly.
Lichenfrost scoffed at his attempt to rush her, tossing a snide comment into the bushes as she pursued the place she had last seen the tip of his tail. “There won’t be any prey to find in the first place if you don’t shut up and stop antagonizing me.” Since he was traveling ahead of her, there wouldn’t have been an opportunity for him to witness the brief smile that upturned the corner of her lip, vanishing in the next instant. She couldn’t help but find herself enjoying the company of someone that shared her temperament, and almost knew how to play her game as well as she could. “So don’t say I didn’t warn you, should you decide to speak up again and then find yourself without a tongue.” How she prized her beloved threats.
She caught sight of his body straight ahead, and found her eyes lingering a moment longer than was comfortable. Quickly correcting herself, mistaking the slight stutter of her heart for irritation, she branched off to the left in the hopes that she may find herself upon the squirrel she had caught the scent of a ways back. - - - - - - Tags: @ghostlight Word Count: 451.

Adderstrike Fangs Of A Viper I am not alone, Not beaten down just yet I am not afraid, Of the voices in my head
The moment the pretty she-cat had followed him from camp, was the moment his irritation for being around others started to rise. Off to a bad start was not the way to be on any patrol with any cat, especially him. Temperament of a snake, fierceness of an adder and venom of a viper, this handsome tom was always ready to strike. There was no doubt in his mind that Lichenfrost was well on her way to being bit, if she treaded much farther.
Cold, blue eyes narrowed as he watched Lichenfrost pad past him before he made up his mind on how to react to her. Silent as a slithering, scaled creature, Adderstrike made his way through the undergrowth after the squirrel, she was obviously following. It'd be fun to watch her reaction when he caught the prey she was after.
Sure, he could have retorted something back and catch her silver fur on fire, but playing with the bear was a much better idea in his head. Tail flickering behind him, the ginger and white tomcat made his way until he found her crouched down and waiting to pouch. A smirk of pure evil wound it's way onto his maw before he leaped forwards, using his size to spring him onto the furry rodent and end it's life with a swift bite.
Sitting down, the aggressive tom turned those victorious blue eyes onto Lichenfrost with a smirk. "Seems your tongue doesn't help catch prey." His voice rumbled deep in his throat, the devil goading the sheep into a fight. What he wouldn't give to have the thrill of pinning Lichenfrost underneath his larger body, watching her squirm as she fought to win.
He would have been victorious in any instant that the two went at it. It wasn't everyday where Adderstrike found a she-cat who riled his temper and interest at the same time in the same way. Playing with her, poking the bear, oh what fun would it bring to the bitter and sour tomcat.
Something like this is something he wouldn't find among other she-cats of his clan, not even Lichenfrost's pretty and annoying sister, Appleshade could move him the way this Somalia was. Something deep down was pushing him on, he had to beat Lichenfrost, had to outdo everything she did.
Would it make her more attractive to him should she actually get the best of him, of course.
Wait.
What was he thinking. Adderstrike wasn't infatuated with this temperamental she-cat. He just had to beat her, be better than her. That was what he was striving for wasn't it. To be the better temperamental cat? To be the better viper with a venomous tongue and sharp attitude?
Or did he find himself liking this she-cat that showed much of himself in her eyes?

L I C H E N F R O S T - - - - - - Her position had been perfected, her paws angled so that her pounce would land her just where she wanted to be, pale green eyes sharp and determined, until her hunting partner had the audacity, had the nerve, to dart passed her and lock his teeth around the throat of her prize. His words only added to the fire that was building inside of her chest, directly in front of the larger tomcat in a matter of two elongated strides, tail lashing behind her as if it was ready to be used as a weapon of its own somehow. She had never met someone that was so incredibly infuriating; so prone to pressing the wrong buttons and unleashing the power held tightly inside of the catastrophic bomb that resided in the midst of her throat, always waiting patiently, vindictively, for a mouse-brained fool to say the wrong thing and, thus, become her next victim. Her eyes were a pair of harshly narrowed slits, a challenge in itself, her body barely not touching his own as she resisted the urge to plunge her claws into his neck so that she might tear it open.
“You might enjoy going after someone else’s prey. Maybe hunting for our Clan is nothing more than a game to you, and if that’s true, then you’ve chosen the wrong cat to play with.” She was practically seething, her voice raised to an aggressive octave, no longer concerned for what prey might still be in the area, long gone after having caught a word or two of this pair’s feisty conversation. Once she had appreciated this tomcat’s existence, for he had done just about the greatest thing in the world for her when he strolled into the warriors’ den and sided with Brokensong and herself, lashing out at Feathercloud which, although she was more than capable of doing herself, was always something she liked to see occur.
Now, however, she was on the verge of plucking out each of his eyeballs, finding that the desire inside of her to look into them was unnerving - he had no right to his eyeballs if he was going to try and distract her with them. The anger swirling in the air around them had slowly evolved into an alarming tension, Lichenfrost highly aware of their closeness, but much too proud, too stubborn, to dare back away and give him any reason to gloat about it later on.
So, if not only to distract herself from the . . . thereness of him, she decided to try out one of her lesser used tactics.
She forced the anger that, even still, pumped unsteadily through her body to leave her mouth in the form of an amused purr. He was trying to get the best of her, to make her tick, she knew that, and even though it was not normally so hard to do, she was not going to make it easy for him. “Don’t worry, the apology is written in your eyes.” She met his eyes, then, the pale green of her own a mocking portrayal of her own silenced laughter. “I’ll be taking credit for that, as credit is rightfully due -” She placed a paw overtop of the squirrel's limp corpse, her claim now officially made regardless of whether or not he happened to have a problem. “- and you can go hunt elsewhere, because right now it’s one for me, zero for you, which means I’m winning your little game.” The smile she flashed to him was truly genuine before she leaned down to pick up the squirrel in her jaws, turning away from the male in a graceful twirl, meant to emphasize that however unhappy her spin on whatever he had been trying to do was going to make him, not even a tiny piece of her cared. - - - - - - Tags: @ghostlight Word Count: 636.

Adderstrike Fangs Of A Viper I am not alone, Not beaten down just yet I am not afraid, Of the voices in my head With the beautiful silver, Somalia she-cat whisking herself away from him, a strange but not unfamiliar rise grew under the handsome tom's pelt. It was a feeling he hadn't had in such a long time, odd and yet very welcoming. While his temper was still hot on his mind, a new sort of emotion wormed it's way into his heart and belly, warming up that cold heart of his.
The last time he had held such a feeling, he had been an apprentice, Adderpaw, back before the slaughter of his parents. Back when Adderpaw was a young, free tom, willing to let his emotions run free and have fun while it lasted before his duties as a warrior kicked in when he should receive his name with his still, very much, gentle hearted sister.
Tail flickering wildly behind him, the very aggressive tomcat let his more natural, and playful side escape the hold it had on it for several long and teetering moons. As his haunches were gathered underneath him, the ginger and white tom shot forwards, scatting leaves as he raced after Lichenfrost with a dangerous, but playful light brimming those cool, handsome blue orbs of his.
Making sure his claws were sheathed, as he didn't want to harm the beautiful she-cat he was racing after, his large paws thumped against the ground as he gained on her. She was most likely trying to ignore him, or wasn't even paying attention. Probably a good thing he wasn't a toad-brained Nightclan raiding Treeclan. Or she'd be dead now.
Tail streaming behind him, the agile fighter leaped forwards, tackling Lichenfrost and rolling over into leaves with her as he used his larger size and heavy weight to pin her on her back beneath him. A smirk touched his maw as he stared into the astonishment of of her pale green orbs as she looked up at him.
He, of course, had to do this quick before she started to flail with her claws, because knowing her temperament was so close to his, he would have done the same thing. He leaned forwards, his nose almost touching her own as he gave a low purr, that nearly almost sounded like a growl since it was an odd thing coming from the ginger and white tomcat.
"Pinned you." He said, letting his deep voice echo in her hear and his warm breath brush against her fur before his tongue flashed out and licked her cheek gently. His cool, blue orbs were unreadable as he pulled away from her rather gaping face before chuckling at her.
Quick as a mouse, the larger tom pulled himself away from Lichenfrost's warm body and darted away through Treeclan, possibly trying to get as far away from the now pissed she-cat as he could. Despite rilling her anger even more, he did admit to himself that he enjoyed being in such close proximity of Lichenfrost.
Her scent still drowning his nose.

L I C H E N F R O S T - - - - - - She knew him as an aggressive tomcat, someone that did not have a bone in his body that lived for anything more than stubbornness and a penchant for violence. That was what she had found herself liking about him, despite the way he got under her skin. That was what made her think that she could turn away from him, and walk away, without worrying about anything more than a few biting words being there to follow her in hot pursuit. She certainly had not expected that he was prone to the odd burst of playfulness, her paws flying out from under her without warning, a mrrow of surprise the only sound she could muster before she was pinned beneath the grinning warrior.
The shock had not yet settled, which was the only thing standing in the way of Lichenfrost unsheathing her claws and dragging them across his face for doing something so completely outrageous. Her back was sore, the fall having not been overly kind, and she had every intention of taking out her revenge as soon as - did he just lick my cheek?
There was no emotion reflected in her pale green eyes, meeting his own light blue with wariness, with caution, as though licking her cheek had been a ruse to distract her from the genuinely evil thing he had planned next, until he stepped off from over-top of her and dashed in the opposite direction. For a moment, she did nothing but sit there, sprawled stomach-up in the grass, wondering what in the world could have possibly gotten into the easily aggravated tomcat to make him act in such an absurd way. Lichenfrost certainly was not known for her rambunctious nature; the last thing she would be caught dead doing was chasing after some feline in the midst of TreeClan territory, and yet, she found herself rushing to get to her paws regardless, pursuing the path Adderstrike took through the trees at twice the speed. He might have been strong enough to knock her off her paws, but she was quick enough to catch up in a heartbeat.
She caught sight of him in a matter of moments, a grin of her own finding itself upon her light gray muzzle. She was not sure whether Adderstrike knew she was on his tail, but one way or another, he was about to find out. She waited until the time was perfect, and then leaped into the air, gripping onto the male’s back as tightly as she possibly could before securing her front paws around his face, unintentionally covering his eyes. It was harder than she anticipated that it was going to be to hold onto him, but nonetheless she was determined, bringing her face closer to his ear. “You thought you could run away? I don’t think so.” And, just for the fun of it, because she had to admit that, even though she did not do this kind of thing very often, she was enjoying herself. “Oh, watch out for that tree!” Feigning an octave of fear, she suppressed a chuckle, knowing that Adderstrike wouldn’t be able to tell that she was just messing with him since his vision was currently being obscured by her paws.
For good measure, she leaned farther forward, rasping her tongue against his cheek to return the favour. - - - - - - Tags: @ghostlight Word Count: 557.

Adderstrike Fangs Of A Viper I am not alone, Not beaten down just yet I am not afraid, Of the voices in my head Of all the outcomes he was expecting from the she-cat he had just had pinned underneath him moments ago, he was not expecting this one. This outcome almost knocked him off his feet and out of his rather relaxed form he was currently enjoying. It was an odd and interesting turn of events, considering what was currently happening, however.
When he felt her claws dig into his shoulders, he had to hold himself back from an automatic Warrior's defense. He didn't want to roll over and crush her underneath him, even though she could probably take it. She wasn't attacking him, he believed that, for some strange reason. He could feel her positioning herself so that he was basically giving her a ride on his back.
However, the moment her paws covered his eyes and blocked his vision, it threw him off. He jerked to the side, twice actually, as the second time she screeched about a tree! This she-cat was trying to kill him. His ears laid back against his head when her warm breath touched his cheek seconds before her rough tongue ran against his fur similar to the way he had done to her.
For a moment, a split second, as that was all he really had to think, Adderstrike quickly thought of what to do. He could probably negoiate through the territory with ease, as he had been all over Treeclan throughout his life, even being blind. Or he could have more fun with the pretty she-cat on his back. Using his nose, the handsome ginger and white tom veered towards a different way, somehow dodging a tree to the near right of his whiskers and took off, making sure the Lichenfrost kept a hold onto him as his tail streamed out behind him. Weaving around a couple more things, with probably pure luck, he made quick time to get where his nose was planning on leading him.
The Wildflower Clearing.
Gentlebreeze had always told Adderstrike that during a certain time of day, the Wildflower Clearing was a beautiful place to be. The fireflies swarming around the strongly scented flowers. Now, the ginger and white tom was not romantic, by any means, but he figured that Lichenfrost would find it pretty to be around.
Shifting his weight, Adderstrike rolled onto a bed of flower, pulling the silver Somalia from his back before he twisted and pinned her again. His blue orbs, still cool and void of much emotion, except for arrogance, bore into her pretty, paler blue eyes. An unfamiliar sensation wormed through his stomach and curled around his heart, that he enjoyed keeping uncurled.
Reaching forwards, not really sure if his mind was allowing this or his body was just moving on it's own. A grin touched his maw as Adderstrike spoke, nose nearly touching Lichenfrost's own. "Pinned you again!" He gave a low, gravely purr, something he wasn't used to doing. Ever.
