She'd meant to go visit Skyfall, honest. She'd been on the dawn patrol this morning, and had awoken from her nap in the early afternoon. Upon exiting the warrior's den, she'd been padding straight toward Littletimber's den, when a familiar figure caught her eye. At first, she thought she'd imagined the pale tail flicking just within the den. As she'd approached at a slow pace, changing her angle of approach slightly, she saw it again. And then she'd heard that voice that had been drifting through her dreams for days now. It was Sprucefur's voice.
Her paws had suddenly felt like piles of rocks, and her advance stopped. For a few heartbeats, she stood in the middle of the camp, blue eyes staring straight at the medicine cat's den. The strangest feeling crashed into her. It was excitement. Glee. The knowledge that Sprucefur was in that medicine cat's den made her even more eager to go in there. But it was that thought... The thought that Sprucefur had such an apparent... Pull om her. That scared her. Immediately, her paws turned. She wanted to run, but that would look strange. Forcing herself to trot the entire length of the camp, she could feel the fur along her spine prickling almost uneasily.
Once outside the camp, she relaxed fractionally, but didn't stop moving. That was how she ended up at the Sparkling Brook. Icy eyes stared around for good moment, as though she had no idea where she was. Of course, that was ridiculous. Everyone in TreeClan knew what the Sparkling Brook was. Moving slowly, she padded towards the stream's edge, listening to the soft rustle of the wind through the trees as it mingled with the constant sound of the water rippling over the rocks in the stream bed.
When she took a seat beside the stream, her gaze was focused on the water. It was mesmerizing to her, for some odd reason.. In all the days she'd spent in TreeClan,, all the times she'd walked by this very brook... She'd never really noticed that it really lived up to its name. The light from the sun danced off the surface, making it look just like it was sparkling. And to her distracted mind, that was absolutely brilliant. Shining blue eyes were partially lidded as she gazed into the blueish water.
It was as though her paw had a mind of it's own. It reached out, splayed as far as it could, stretching.... And then it touched the surface of the water. Just as the little waved rippled out from the contact point, she could feel the cool touch of the water as it sunk between the toes of her paws. And then she lifted it away, slowly placing it back down, next to her other one. The earth was warm compared to the icy kiss of the water. But the chill she felt when she touched it.... It was fascinating to her. And so, she shifted her weight, reaching her other paw forward.
Once the cool touch of the water spread over her other paw pad, she pulled it back. This pattern repeated, one paw, a brief touch, then th next. StarClan knew how long she might have kept it up if it hadn't been for the sound of someone's approach. The way she was roused from her daze was visible. One paw was still stretched out, hovering above the water, she glanced about, blinking in confusion. To say she was distracted would have been the understatement of the century, and you didn't need to know her all that well to figure it out.
