Timberwing The Fox of Rainclan Your face—it haunts my once pleasant dreams Your voice—it chased away all the sanity in me
Leafbare was finally coming to and end and with it was the end of the Greencough epidemic that had taken so many lives from Rainclan. It had come as a shock that such a strong wave could have taken so many strong and healthy warriors, as well as kits, queens and even one of their leader's lives. With the unfortunate deaths of the clan, friends and family both alike departed from the clan the resided by the river, leaving the clan feeling a whole lot smaller.
It's hard enough for a non-clan born to feel welcomed in her long adopted clan, but for her too lose her best friend and former apprentice, she felt more alone than ever. Falconleap had suffered terribly at the paws of greencough and the pain of loosing his mother had Crowblaze feeling the clan life all together.
Timberwing figured that Sandstar felt sorry for her in some way, or saw how upset she was and thus gave her a new apprentice to keep her mind worried about someone who needed worried about. She was pleased with gaining another young cat to train, she didn't think she'd take another one within her remaining lifetime, with her being one of the oldest, if not the oldest, cats in Rainclan to still be a warrior.
As per how she started off any apprentice and mentor days, she had gotten up early to go out hunting. Her graying paws padded through the entrance of the camp to find herself heading towards the Apprentice den. She had a squirrel dangling from her jaws, a treat for Snowpaw. It was luck that Timberwing had stumbled across on on Rainclan territory. Edging closer, the old she-cat lowered herself to her haunches and set the still warm squirrel on her paws before calling out to wake the young apprentice.
"Snowpaw!" Her gruff voice called out, echoing slightly around the still rather empty Rainclan camp. Her plume tail flickered behind her, making sure to keep away from the ground and not raise a small dust cloud. Her ears twitched as she tried to make out movement within the den settled in front of her before she decided to call out again. "Snowpaw!" This time a tad louder.
She was suddenly hit is nostalgia as she remembered her first outing with Crowpaw, or rather Crowblaze now. It didn't go so well, and she would make sure Snowpaw's first outing was better, but it was still hard for her to imagine that the young tom she had help grow as a warrior had left the clan. It was hard for him to loose his mother and he wasn't alone in the feeling. Timberwing had lost so many that had been close to her in her long life.
She shook her head, long red fur waving around her before she turning her attention back to the task at paw, Snowpaw and her first day exploring Rainclan territory.

SNOWPAW of RainClan 06 Moons. She-Cat. Apprentice
She was stalking the mouse quickly. She had her belly close to the ground and she knew that she was not able to be seen. She stopped a few paces away from the mouse and she was just about to pounce when her heard, "Snowpaw!"
She jumped in her skin and she looked around. It was just a dream. That was depressing though because she wanted to catch that mouse. She was hungry then as her belly grumbled and she sighed. She closed her eyes then and she was just about to fall back to sleep when she heard it again, only it was louder this time. "Snowpaw!" It was then that it dawned on her. She was supposed to be training today.
She jumped from her nest and did not even bother to clean her alabaster fur as she ran from the Apprentice Den and nearly ran into her mentor. She came to a skidding halt though and she looked up at her fox colored mentor. "I-i'm sorry Timberwing." She bowed her head then as she knew that she was late and that they could have gotten to the training grounds then.
Her paws shuffled on the ground as she waited to be reprimanded by her mentor for being late. I am such a mousebrain. Her thoughts were not on her side, and this was proven a lot recently. She waited though for her mentor to make a move or to say something.

Timberwing The Fox of Rainclan Your face—it haunts my once pleasant dreams Your voice—it chased away all the sanity in me
The fox colored she-cat wasn't expecting her new apprentice to come bowling out of the apprentice den, spitting out apologies as if she had tripped over her paws and scared away all the prey of the forest. She was certainly a different feel from Crowblaze, who had come out of the den like a grumpy badger who had just had his set trampled over. She was a breath of fresh air, she had been exited to receive the senior warrior as her mentor, and happy to start her apprenticeship as well.
Her green eyes narrowed with amusement before she opened her graying muzzle to respond to Snowpaw's apology. "Sorry? For what?" She flicked her plume tail over the white she-cat's ear to both calm her and remove a piece of moss. "Here, eat. I'm sure squirrel will be a new taste for you." She nudged the brown furred rodent towards her apprentice, trying to get the snow furred she-cat to relax.
While she let Snowpaw eat, she started to talk about what she had planned for the day out. "We'll start by exploring the main parts of Rainclan's territory before moving on to the borders." The fire colored she-cat decided to start with Stoneclan's border this time, rather than Nightclan's, save a trip to run into a cat like Blackwolf. Snowpaw was a tender soul, Timberwing could already tell, and a rough, brutal encounter with a Nightclan warrior would not go how it did when Crowpaw had been introduced.
"Then we'll travel along the Stonclan border and finally the Nightclan border." She mewed, her voice rasping with age as she let her dull green eyes look over her apprentice, there was something the old she-cat could see in the small she-cat in-front of her. She had seen her as a kit from time to time, a shy little thing, but perhaps Timberwing could help her come out of her shell, help her become a well rounded warrior for her clan.

She honestly did not know what Timberwing expected of her, but she knew what her family expected, and well, she knew what she expected, and being late on the first day was not acceptable at all by any standards. She looked at the foxed colored she-cat and she breathed a sigh of relief when Timberwing was not mad. "Sorry? For What?" She looked at her mentor a little confused then.
"So I am not late?" Her voice was still soft, but it seemed to have grown a few octaves. Snowpaw felt like she could talk to this she-cat and that she could be her normal self without having to hide anything. Snowpaw just hoped that others would not see it really. That came with her shyness sadly, and it was something that she wanted to break the mold of.
She felt Timberwinf's tail on her ear though and she felt something fall off of her ear. She looked at the floor and saw a piece of moss and she looked back at Timberwing then. If cats could blush, you could probably see it on this apprentice. "Thank you TImberwing, both for the squirrel and removing the moss." She heard her voice get a little stronger and she smiled to herself before she slowly started to eat.
Timberwing then started to go over the plan for the day and she listened intently while eating. "We'll start by exploring the main parts of Rainclan's territory before moving on to the borders." She finished the last bite of her squirrel then and she excused herself to go and bury the remains, as well as make dirt real fast. When she returned though, she stopped dead in her tracks from hearing what Timberwing said next.
"Then we'll travel along the Stoneclan border and finally the Nightclan border." She had heard of there being some issues along the NightClan border between the two clans. She was kind of hoping that they would not run into any trouble today. But her curiosity got the best of her. "What do I do if we meet someone along the NightClan border?" She mused as her curiosity proved that it will take someone one day.

"So I'm not late?"
The fox colored she-cat held back a trill of amusement at her apprentice's question. If Snowpaw was late, that would mean that she, herself was late. The old she-cat had always started her apprentices' first day of training a little later than others, giving them enough time to feel rested for their first day, which would be rather long for someone who had never been outside of the camp before.
"Don't worry. You're not late." Timberwing flicked her tail, before standing and stretching, her graying paws reaching out in-front of her before turning to pad off towards the camp entrance, prepared to take her off towards the Sand Bar, an apprentice friendly place once Snowpaw would start with her battle training. "Let's get start--." Her apprentice's next question threw the older she-cat off for a second.
Nightclan.
The fox colored she-cat stopped and turned to look at Snowpaw, her dull eyes looking over the small she-cat with gentle eyes. The senior warrior figured that it would take some time for Snowpaw to find her battle prowess, and Timberwing would take her time to try and help her. But, for her to already fear Nightclan... It left a stone in her belly. She knew that Rainclan and Nightclan were not on good terms, not that Nightclan was ever on good terms with any other clan.
It left Timberwing feeling as if she were still isolated. Not Rainclan, nor Nightclan.
Timberwing shook her head, "Let me deal with Nightclan." She said softly, hoping she didn't have another experience as she did with Crowblaze, Snowpaw probably couldn't handle what her former apprentice could. Where he was tough and reckless, she was gentle and cautious. The older she-cat flicker her plume tail, her long red fur waving in the gentle breeze that blew through the camp.
"Let's go check out the Sand Bar." She nodded her head towards the entrance of the camp, "I'll let you lead the way." She gave a soft noise that was close to a purr, but more rusty as if she hadn't made a purring motion in a long time.

The white let a sigh of relief out when Timberwing confirmed that Snowpaw was in fact, not late. She slowed her roll then and she waited for her mentor to start off. She stood beside the fox colored cat then and she waited to see where she was going to be going. The snowy she-cat looked at Timberwing and she purred lightly.
But when Timberwing looked at her with dull eyes, she stopped purring. She looked at her mentor then the ground. Now I have done it. I said something wrong. She kept her head pointed to the ground as she waited for Timberwing to scold her for asking such a question, or even thinking of it.
But that never came, instead, it was concern. She looked at Timberwing and she nodded lightly. "Okay Timberwing. If something happens, do you want me to come back to camp right away?" She wanted to know what she was supposed to do if something was to happen. Her ears perked as she heard the remark on the Sand Bar and Snowpaw leading the way.
She also heard the rusty sound that almost sounded like and purr and she nodded. "Sand bar, okay!" She had to stop and think for a second. She had no idea where she was headed, she started took a guess and started off the where she scented the faint smell of sand.

Timberwing The Fox of Rainclan
Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love? Can the child within my heart rise above? Can I sail through the changing ocean tides? Can I handle the seasons of my life?
The fox colored she-cat flicked her thick tail as she followed her young and gentle apprentice, a she-cat that the senior warrior already knew would get along with her well. She was so ready and willing to learn that it made the red pelted she-cat's heart soar. She hoped that she could see Snowpaw though her training into warriorhood, and someday see her with an apprentice of her own. The thought brought a bright light flickering inside the dull green eyes of the old she-cat.
After a moment of following the snowy apprentice, Timberwing flicked an ear, "Hold on Snowpaw." The larger she-cat stopped padding as she caught a scent that drifted through the reeds on the wind. It was old, very stale, and she knew that it had been driven out of Rainclan a little while ago, before Snowpaw had been made an apprentice. "Can you try and tell me what this scent is?" She asked, green eyes turning to Snowpaw.
The scent was more common than badgers, but it was still rare for Rainclan to have a fox stumble across on their territory. Despite that fact, it was good that Snowpaw learned the scent, just in case she found it again if she were out and about without Timberwing or another cat. She didn't expect Snowpaw to guess correctly the first time, after all, it was her first day out, but she wanted to see what the young she-cat would try and guess it as.
Once she was done quizzing Snowpaw on the fox scent, Timberwing would see if Snowpaw could smell any other scents among the damp foliage that cluttered Rainclan's territory. At the moment, she, herself could only catch the scent of a couple of mice that had scurried away before the two Rainclanners had moved through this way.
Not much beyond that, but perhaps Snowpaw's nose was better than Timberwing's aging one.

SNOWPAW of RainClan 06 Moons. She-Cat. Apprentice
The snowy she-cat followed her fox colored mentor happily. You almost could see a small bounce in her step, but she was doing a good job at keeping herself grounded just so that she didn't ruin any kind of hunting that could happen right now and then at the same time. But when Timberwing stopped, Snowpaw almost ran into her from her not paying attention, but thankfully, the she-cat stopped quickly. She flicked an ear as well and hear nothing but the scent that she was getting was tale, but it still made her feel scared and like she was in danger. She saw Timberwings green eyes focus on her and she took a moment to try and figure out scents.
But after not being able to think of anything she shook her head lightly. "I can't Timberwing, what is it?" Her voice held the curiosity that her question warranted and she was anxious to know the scent. Even with the staleness of it, it still sent chills down her spine, which meant it had to be something bad right? Or was it just a type of prey that she is over thinking. But there was another scent that was stronger than the stale scent, and she worked on placing that one. It smelled more familiar, as if she has been around it before, and not just once. She started to think of what she had been eating before.

Timberwing The Fox of Rainclan
Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love? Can the child within my heart rise above? Can I sail through the changing ocean tides? Can I handle the seasons of my life?
It was good that the young, white pelted apprentice had no knowledge of the scent that was long since stale. But it was good that she would be learned what it was for safety reasons in the future. Shifting the weight from her paws, the old she-cat glanced at Snowpaw with a soft smile on her muzzle before answering her apprentice's question.
"That, dear Snowpaw." Her voice cracked with age as the fox colored she-cat started to pad forward, crossing over the old scent line. "Is a fox. If you ever smell a fresh mark, you need to warn some-cat, right away." She continued on, letting her words sink into the younger cat's head. Every young apprentice believed they were invicible and could take on a fox, but she was sure that Snowpaw was smarter than that.
After a moment, the bushy tail of Timberwing shot out, pausing Snowpaw from moving any further through the territory. "Hush and crouch down." Crouching in the reeds, Timberwing's bright red fur still stood out, but not as bad standing up. Pointing with her long, narrow muzzle, green orbs laid on a bird that was rare to spot, rarer to catch.
"That's a duck, Snowpaw." Timberwing whispered, barely audible, so not to scare the flightful bird away. She knew that Snowpaw had no hunting training, but she was sure that with the two of them, they could scare the prey into being caught. "Keep your tail low and straight, and your paws soft. I want you to try and catch the duck." She pulled away before adding.
"I'll go around the other way, in-case it tries to fly away."
And so, the old she-cat made her way, quietly, through the reeds to the opposite side of the duck. Of course, knowing her luck, she'd have to jump over a stream if the bird escaped Snowpaw's claws. But, to bring a rare piece of meat like a duck, back to the elders would be a wonderful thing.

SNOWPAW of RainClan 06 Moons. She-Cat. Apprentice
She didn't see disappointment on her mentors face, so that was a good thing right? She was still curious as to what this scent was, for it was still giving her the creeps a bit. Her ear flicked toward the fox colored she-cat as she spoke. "Fox, if ever stronger scent, warn others. Okay I got it!" She looked at Timberwing, excitement and knowledge in her eyes. She was excited to be learning new things, but when Timberwing told her to hush and to crouch, she did so. She followed the gaze of Timberwing and she saw a bright yellow bird.
A duck. She nodded and she looked at Timberwing and listened to her silently. She did as the older she-cat said and she kept her tail low. She watched where she was walking and she quietly stalked toward the duck. She never hunted before, and she didn't think that she would be hunting on her first lesson either. She kept her emotions in though and she got closer to the duck.
She saw as Timberwing got behind the duck and she stopped a few paces from the duck. She took a soft deep breath and she wound up to pounce. As she did that, she pounced, but missed by a few pawsteps, and she saw the duck start toward Timberwing.

Timberwing The Fox of Rainclan
Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love? Can the child within my heart rise above? Can I sail through the changing ocean tides? Can I handle the seasons of my life?
Though Snowpaw's crouch was a bit lop sided and her her tail far to high compared to the squat of her body, and her paws stepping on twigs and leaves, the white apprentice's hunter's crouch was too terribly bad. The old deputy was surprised to see that she got even close enough to try and pounce of the soft feathered bird. For a quick, first time hunt, Snowpaw did very well. Though Timberwing knew that Snowpaw wouldn't be catching the duck, she was ready herself to leap onto the bird, should he decide to fly away in a panic of being hunted. So when such a thing did, in fact, happen, the old fox colored she-cat leaped forwards, taking down the bird with a rather large splash, as the two landed in the water of the stream.
Before the water and flight prey could escape, the older she-cat bit and broke it's neck, silencing the annoying quacks of fear that echoed from it's beak and around the area in which she and her apprentice stood. Not that they were going to hunt much more today, but the duck would have scared off any more prey that might have been hanging around.
Turning her green orbs onto Snowpaw, the long furred deputy wadded out of the stream and dropped the duck at Snowpaw's paws before shaking the water form her pelt that lacked Rainclan's fabulous water resistant fur. Instead, the water just matted her dark russet pelt to her body and made it heavier on her old joints.
"That was a good first try." Timberwing said, feather tail flickering behind her before she nodded to the duck. "Let's bury that and come back for it later, so we can continue to go along the borders." She said in a rasped voice, as if wading through the stream had worn her out, which it did.
The old she-cat was determined to keep on, however, as she wasn't going to lack on Snowpaw's training just because her age was starting to catch up on her. She was a warrior still, and not an elder for several more, long moons. With that being said, she figured that Stoneclan's border would be a better border to visit at the moment rather than Nightclan.
With a flick of an ear, Timberwing quickly buried the duck and turned to make her way through Rainclan towards the barren lands of Stoneclan to continue Snowpaw's tour of the territory. "We'll start hunting practice tomorrow." She said, knowing that as soon as Snowpaw returned to camp that evening, she'd want to sleep the rest of the day and night away.

SNOWPAW of RainClan 09 Moons. She-Cat. Apprentice
Snowpaw chased the duck over to Timberwing and she watched as the fox colored she-cat went into the stream with it. She knew how much her mentor hated water, so watching the older she-cat fight the duck to get it out of the water was a little funny to her. But she sat down and she was panting from the run, it felt like she had never run that fast before in her life, even though she had. But she looked over to Timberwing as the annoying crying from the duck stopped and she sighed lightly.
Her mentor was okay, and they had even managed to get a rare piece of prey for the clan. That felt like a good day to her, but Timberwing was not done, and neither was Snowpaw. Snowpaw didn't mind that either. She watched as Timberwing wadded from the stream and dropped the duck at her paws. She looked up, only to be splattered with water from her mentor. She purred lightly at the compliment and she nodded lightly. She rose to bury the duck, but Timberwing had already beat her to it.
Snowpaw then followed closely behind her mentor, with her tail a little higher than before. She was happy to be Timberwing's apprentice, and she was even more happy to know that they successfully got the duck. She noticed that they were going toward StoneClan once more and she followed closely behind. Then Timberwing spoke of them starting hunting training tomorrow. "Okay Timberwing! I can't wait!"

Timberwing The Fox of Rainclan
Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love? Can the child within my heart rise above? Can I sail through the changing ocean tides? Can I handle the seasons of my life?
The old she-cat lead the way through the reeds as they started to give out to barren and rocky lands that continued on into Stoneclan's dry territory. With such a sight before her eyes, the old she-cat could only think of the couple of times she had come this why where she had met with Sandstar, or when patrolling with Razorstar.
Tail twitched slightly as she thought of all the falling outs between Stoneclan and Rainclan.
It seemed like there was no safe border for the cats who resided by the river. Turning her eyes towards Snowpaw, the fox colored deputy let such thoughts slid from her mind as she focused on enlightening her apprentice on other things besides war and battle. Though, that seemed to be the only thing on Razorstar's mind, she feared, at the moment.
"This is Stoneclan's border." Timberwing nodded over her shoulder, letting Snowpaw take in the barren territory of the clan that had once been driven from the valley. There wasn't much to say about the other clan, nothing important anyways. Snowpaw just needed to know the borders and who laid on the other side of each. "While not as hostile as Nightclan, you should still be careful around the border." She decided to finish with.
Forest green eyes moved from Snowpaw to look up at the sky, where the sun was starting to tip up at the peak of the sky, getting ready to fall back down and let night take over. "Let's head on over to Nightclan's border and then return for the duck and you can share it with the elders." She was sure the old cats of Rainclan would enjoy a nice duck and a story to tell Snowpaw.
Turning from Stoneclan, Timberwing padded along the borderline, letting her scent mark a new line as they traveled on through Rainclan's territory, finishing up Snowpaw's first day out.
Well, I've been afraid of changing 'cause I built my life around you But time makes you bolder Children get older I'm getting older, too
