Goldenflower had received a bit of useful advice from his former mentor Cherrypool; she was the first one he had ever told about his love for a certain tom. It still wasn’t news he had spread and nobody but her knew at the moment. However there were a few toms in the clan that were the same way. Cherry had suggested that talking to them could give him greater insight on his condition, better then she could probably offer no matter how much she wanted to be helpful. The golden tom saw an opportunity to make his introductions and one day in camp quickly shot up to Flashbrook and said with the most sincere look he could manage, “Flashbrook, I was wondering if we could talk somewhere… maybe in private?” He knew the tom as well as he knew any of his clanmates, such bonds seemed to form naturally when you lived in such a tight nit community however this didn’t mean that they had ever shared a personal moment. Goldenpaw was very scared he was overstepping his bounds so brazenly strolling up to the other, but it was a conversation he really needed to have. Hellion

Flashbrook
He had been back at home for the better part of 6 moons and happily settled back into his life. Burningleaf by his side, the limp slowly getting better, less of a burden when it came to hunting. While he wasn't the fast tom any more he was able to hold up a chase for a decent size rabbit. However, on days like this when Burningleaf was busy with other things, Flashbrook found himself nestled up in a warm spot in camp, lazily grooming his pelt the pressures of the day lost to him, just some peace.
While no one had outwardly asked him if he was in love with Burningleaf, he had proclaimed it loud enough one evening when a she-cat was pestering him, that shut her up quickly and rumors vanished, he was Burningleaf's mate. Now many saw it as unnatural and at first Flashbrook had trouble getting used to the sneers and hisses, he quickly gotten used to it and no longer cared.
Now with the new comer into warrior hood, Goldenflower, Flashbrook thought it odd a tom would take such a feminine name, but he chose not to care. Yet it seems that Goldenflower was seeking him out for one reason or another, so quickly Flashbrook pushed himself to sit up right to meet the tom with square shoulders and a kind smile. "By all mean we can talk, would you rather it here? I'm confident we are in private, unless you have somewhere else in mind. I must remind you I have a limp and makes it difficult to travel far." He explained quickly and with a positive attitude and smile.
And I can't change Even if I tried Even if I wanted to

Goldenflower was relieved he received such a positive response from Flashbrook, the other tom being willing to talk made having the conversation possible which was his first fear. His second was others overhearing him; however as it pertained to their own common interests and the older warrior carried it with pride proclaiming his love for another tom to the masses. The golden tom feared if he took him to a private place and tried to talk about it like it was taboo it might make it seem like he was ashamed to be feeling like this, and of all things he didn’t want to offend Flashbrook. So swallowing his fear he answered simply, “I think talking here is fine.” He scooted a bit closer and plopped his rump down so he was sitting across from Flashbrook he then lowered himself gently onto his tummy while trying to get the conversation started. “I... wanted to talk about your relationship with Burningleaf it that’s okay…” He said looking down at his paws.

Flashbrook
The blue eyes of the red tinted time, locked with the golden tom's across from him. It was practical for him to lay down, ease the tension off his sore leg, but he felt that the situation called for him to take a more respectful manner. Flicking his long tail back and forth, Flashbrook thought of the best way to explain his relationship with Burningleaf, from the look of things, Goldenflower wasn't there to make fun of him, but possibly seeking advice. Forming the right words in his head he eased into his words carefully.
"Burningleaf is my love and he carries my heart. I will die for him, I was a loner for some time to protect him. It's not typical relationship like a tom and she-cat, but it's special and deep in my heart I know he loves me just as much as I love him." Flashbrook's words were carefully compiled together, make no mistake, his feelings were true for the other warrior.
"Now I have a question of my own, do you love another cat?" Flashbrook's question hasn't meant to be taken lightly, he was serious, turning his self-proclaimed exile he saw cats love and be loved but also he watched it crumple in fits of fury and anger. In his mind, Goldenflower was coming to him for advice on matter of the heart, especially on dealing with loving another tom.
And I can't change Even if I tried Even if I wanted to

Goldenflower nodded as Flashbrook explained his feelings for Burningleaf, and there was no doubt in his mind that they were incredibly powerful if nothing else. Something about his tone made the golden tom realize that the feelings ran deep, and he didn’t think his feelings were quite that strong yet but were positive they would be there someday. However he wasn’t expected the question he received with the answer, did he love somebody? Why yes, yes he did. Was he ready to talk about it yet? That he wasn’t so sure, but deciding he had come to Flashbrook it was perhaps time to spill everything he was holding inside. He nodded slowly before turning his gaze down to his paws, “There’s a certain…” He was afraid this next part would be a bit serious “Medicine cat apprentice.” He would pick up his gaze to meet that of Flashbrooks hoping to see understanding as appose to ridicule.

Flashbrook
Well he wasn't prepared for that, Snowpaw was in the company of Rookfrost and perhaps the white tom's emotions were being looked after. Did he know? From the looks of Goldenflower, he doubted it, a secret that might breed fear and misunderstanding. Framing the words in his head before he spoke, Flashbrook took in a deep breathe.
"Medicine cats aren't allowed to have mates, Snowpaw can never call you his and you can't ever all him yours. That's a tricky path you walk. I can't tell you to stop feeling for him, but be careful." Flashbrook paused and let out a sigh, this was a lot more than what he expected. "Just be careful Goldenflower, hearts get broken easily when love and duty cross paths. You may love him but his duty is first to being a medicine cat and that might keep the two of you apart." Flashbrook finished his statement and tried to look at Goldenflower with understanding.

Goldenflower was expecting surprise; however deep down he figured that he would be met with a bit of reassurance that like a tom and a medicine cat was perfectly okay. This wasn’t the case however and Flashbrook’s words had him thinking, he wasn’t upset with the older tom he was just confused. Confused, that was clearly the best word he could think to describe the situation he had found himself in. Not only were his feelings for another tom considered taboo, the tom was a medicine cat which was another social no-no. Goldenflower felt he was breaking so many rules and he wasn’t sure if that was a bad thing, how could social pressures to do what others want be more important than love? “I...I know. I’m just so confused.” He mewed out softly summing up all his thoughts in as few words as possible, he wasn’t sure if he needed an in depth conversation or just an understanding shoulder to lean on.

Flashbrook
He expected Goldenflower to feel confused and while he truly wanted to comfort the tom, he wasn't sure how to do it. For a moment they were silent, the red tinted tom unsure of how to keep going, his blue eyes down cast to look at the dirt. His tail flicked back and forth a steady beat. Carefully Flashbrook took another moment to compile his thoughts to make another statement.
"It's okay to be confused, I was for the better part of my life as well. I even tried to be with a she-cat, but it wasn't the same, I knew in my heart I loved Burningleaf. The point I want to make Goldenflower is that no matter what I'm here to help you out. Don't be afraid or ashamed to ask me question or seek my advice."
Flashbrook's words were calm and collected as he tried to give a smile, still uneasy about the warrior having feelings for the medicine cat. While it made sense to why they could be mates, no kits would be born, but love would cloud Snowpaw's judgement and maybe affect his connection with StarClan and that was important to a medicine cat.

Goldenflower scooted a bit closer to do nothing other then lay his head softly on Flashbrook’s paws. He would then cover his head with his own paws and lay there, the only sound emitted would be a barely audible mewls every few seconds. It was obvious he was having quite a moral dilemma at the moment and sadly Flashbrooks’ advice, even though it was good, wasn’t helping his feelings at all. He laid there doing his best to think what he wanted to say next, and he had a pretty good idea after only a few moments but something felt good about just laying there and hopefully receiving a bit of comfort and affection from Flashbrook. “W-What if he feels the same… if the clan makes a big deal of it can we just run away together? Would you run away with Burningleaf if you couldn’t be with him here?” He couldn’t see at all how his love for Snowpaw was any different then Flashbrooks for Burningleaf, why wouldn’t their love come before Snowpaw’s position?

Flashbrook
He flinched sightly, lowing himself down to be eye level with Goldenflower, extending his sore leg to ease the tension and pain in it. The mention of running away had him in surprise and brought forth a sharp intake of air.
"I hope you aren't really considering it. Goldenflower that is a betrayal that StarClan won't forgive. Medicine cats belong at their posting, healing the hurt and tending to the wounded." Flashbrook paused, it was known he ran away but not by choice but few knew that, well Golenflower would know it now.
"I was targeted by Venomspirit and both Burningleaf and I were going to die if I didn't protect him. I would have died for Burningleaf and to my Clan I did. I stayed gone to ensure it was safe to return, I lived a loner's life because I had to not because I wanted to." Flashbrook's words were quick but strong and level headed.
"Taking Snowpaw away from his duties would cause so many problems not only for the two of you but for LightingClan as whole. He doesn't know how to hunt, he knows herbs and healing, not battle moves and crouching. It would burden both of you you two ran away together. It would end up tearing you two apart." Flashbrook ending his words again, almost adding in that his time spent away from Burningleaf almost cost their relationship, it was surely on a small line.
Looking to his paws Flashbroke exhaled loud and from deep in his chest. "Reconsider what you want to do. For the sake of both your hearts and LightingClan as a whole." The tinted tom flicked his tail back and forth, unsure of where to take his advice so he finished talking.

Goldenflower thought about the older toms words, and he was indeed wise however he couldn’t help but feel he didn’t quite understand the situation. He listened to everything Flashbrook said in silence trying to wrap his head around all the words that were rushing from the others maw. Besides listening he was actively putting it all through his own mental filter to try and validate that it was indeed sound logic. He just wasn’t sure because he was having another cats morals applied onto his own, however as it was a cat that had pretty progressive morals it was a bit unnerving. Goldenflower was afraid even among the progressives the things he was doing, or wanted to do were just so outrageous that he was bound to find himself in trouble. Even if they got over the fact that he was gay it could be just too much for even the most supportive cat if his love was Snowpaw. “I… I feel awful because I don’t want to put this on him. However I think if he finds it within or othwise out of his moral bounds as we can never have kits I will respect that decision and treat it as the one truth.” OCC: Hellion

Flashbrook
He was running quickly out of things to say. He had already given his advice, Goldenflower shouldn't harm LightingClan by taking away their medicine cat apprentice, it wasn't like you could just pick out a new one right away, it was a special task. His blue eyes were growing tired as he thought of his final words for the tom in this evening.
"You should figure out what your heart desires. Then after you do talk with me before talking with Snowpaw, it's best you practice before proclaiming something so strong and possibly life changing to him." Rising up he flinched at the sharp pain in his leg but gave Goldenflower and gentle nudge of his head against the other tom's cheek. "Get some rest." He said kindly, before turning and carful not to limp too noticeably as he traveled out of camp to get something to drink.

It was apparent that Flashbrook had said all he intended to say to Goldenflower, so as silence descended upon them the younger toms gaze fell to his paws. Flexing them and watching how they moved, he thought about everything that had been said by both of them. Then as he felt the others kind head-butt he looked up and listened to the toms’ departing words, he hadn’t even noticed him stand and move to leave. He watched him all the way until he pushed through the camps entrance and was gone, the golden tom would sit there for a moment thinking a bit more before he stood up and quickly padded out after Flashbrook. His limp wasn’t too noticeable but it did make it easy for Goldenflower to catch just by moving quickly. “Thank you for everything Flashbrook…” He said trailing off once he had caught the other tom, “I hope you know that I’m going to think long and hard about what you told me. I’m not going to blow it off.”
