Name: Hazekit → Hazepaw → Haze??
Age: 2 Moons
Gender: Tom
Clan: NightClan
Rank: Kit
Picture:
Description:
Out of a litter of three kittens, Hazekit is the only one to have inherited their mother's heavily splotched tortoiseshell pattern, his coat consisting primarily of brown, black and orange splashes in no distinct or sensible array. Even his whiskers aren't quite so uniform in color, carrying a salt-and-pepper banding, long and going in any direction they prefer; Hazekit's nose is brownish pink, just light enough to stand out against a jaw and whiskerpads of orange peppered with black and brown.
Light of bone structure, Hazekit's short fur is dense and incredibly soft, likely to never loose that plushness even as he enters into adulthood. He appears to be built for leaping and running, with long, lean limbs though he should average out to about the same height as a typical tomcat. Because of his narcolepsy, it is likely that Hazekit will never be as strong or as muscular as some of the other NightClan cats, considering his sleep-attacks and being highly prone to drowsiness no matter the activity, he won't be getting quite as much exercise or strength training as the others. He will also have trouble hunting and fighting, but his skills will be passable eventually, given enough time.
It is anticipated that if he can't quite find a way to stay awake, his apprenticeship will be quite a bit longer than that of other cats his age.
His eyes are greenish-blue.
Description Summary: A slim, plush tortoiseshell tom with short fur and greenish-blue eyes.
Personality:
Hazekit's personality is not dominated or dampened by the severe sleep disorder he suffers from, and while it is a big part of him as well as an extreme hindrance, Hazekit possesses the kind of character that shines even in such an unusual, unfortunate situation. When fully conscious and not plagued by drowsiness, disorientation or occasional hallucinations, Hazekit is a happy, open-minded creature who is warm of soul, gentle and sincere with his thoughts, and generally a little bit of a pushover. Constantly having to apologize for falling asleep during conversations or playtime, Hazekit does feel a certain amount of guilt over the rude inconvenience he can't do anything about, but he doesn't feel any overwhelming negativity towards his own condition.
If he were the type to get depressed over a sleep disorder or feel isolated because of his condition, he likely wouldn't make it very far in a forest that is not very forgiving of those who pity themselves too much. Compassionate and quick to forgive, you could literally step on this tom's toes and he'd likely be the one to apologize, slow to place the blame on others or stir up any sort of confrontation.
Despite his kindly nature and seemingly soft heart, Hazekit is actually quite good at two particular things; riddles and going after what he wants. It might seem unusual for such a peaceable kitten to possess so strong a determination, but Hazekit is anything but ordinary. Not particularly materialistic or possessive of his Clanmates, Hazekit's wants are more goal-oriented rather than object or person-related. Though fully aware of his disability, intends to reach warriorhood around the same time as everyone else, not wanting to be left behind by his siblings. While his can-do attitude might seem like a trait expected to be found more in TreeClan or StoneClan cats rather than Night, Hazekit is a good example of why tenacity, in the right or wrong paws, can be a powerful, powerful thing.
Not easily discouraged, Hazekit has quiet determination, a trustworthy personality and earnestness that's hard to ignore, a good head for riddles and a low tolerance for cruelty. Regardless of the difficulty of his own situation, Hazekit is taking things in stride, (when he isn't napping, that is) and owns a particularly strong moral code, the kind that forces so young and so small a creature to intervene when he sees teasing or humiliation take place both in and outside of the Clan, Hazekit preferring to stick up for the victim whether he knows the full gravity of the situation or not. He is very close with his brother Dark-kit, who tends to look after him more than he can look after himself.
History: Hazekit is the middle sibling born to Nightflower (a tortoiseshell and white she-catl) and Shadowpelt (solid black tom), two respectable NightClan warriors, Hazekit sandwiched between his brother Dark-kit, and his younger sister Brightkit. Though this is only known to the trio of siblings and their parents, White, Haze and Dark are all the younger half-siblings of NightClan's infamous Blackwolf, who is unconscious of the fact that Shadowpelt is his real father.
Despite having sired another litter with a different she-cat all those moons ago, Shadowpelt is a loving, supportive father, though utterly mystified on his middle son's peculiar condition. Having seen the Medicine Cat over a dozen times, with many herbs tested on Hazekit proving unsuccessful, the family of five have pretty much decided to let things be, and hope he eventually grows out if it.
The narcolepsy started after only a moon of actually existing outside of his mother's belly, Hazekit always falling asleep quickly and waking up after 15 minutes with random bursts of physical exuberance, before he would likely fall back asleep again. Constantly dozing and waking up only to fall back asleep again a few moments later, at first the parents suspected something to be terribly terribly wrong with their middle child, though Hazekit had shown no signs of lesser intelligence than his brothers any sort of underdevelopment. When he IS awake, Hazekit is as happy and as playful as the rest of them, though extremely prone to Sleep Attacks.
His sleep disorder provides him with a list of symptoms and side effects, listed below:
