Orange gaze, blazing like fire, glowed in the brisk Newleaf morning. The gaze, belonging to kitten young enough to still rely on mother's milk, was hardened. Spark was not like any kitten, just learning about the world and the evil that lurked beyond the comfort of a mother's warm, downy pelt. Spark had already experienced that cruelty at the hands of his father. The twisted, broken limb that dragged on the ground, without muscle or feeling, was a trophy Spark had won for his bravery against evil.

Spark knew that his father was the cause of his injury. The skinny kitten had been just old enough to recall the brawny, scraggly features of his father and his happy, fun-loving siblings before his fall. But the older the black kitten grew, the less defined their memory would become. Already, Spark struggled to recall the smile on his mother's face. Was it as beautiful as he had imagined? 

The young kitten placed a small paw in the dirt and pressed to leave an imprint.

They say pride comes before the fall...

The calico she-cat wasn't avoiding work, no.. What hard working warrior would leave the territory to avoid having to do stuff? Certainly not Poisonleaf...

The pretty cat had left the territory because she was tired. Tired of being around only NightClan cats. She was disappointed about not being invited to the Gathering, but no matter, she'd have her own.. As Poisonstar, leader of every Clan in the forest.

The she-cat trotted down to StarClan's claws, padding between the massive spires of rock. There, near the center, stood the Great Rock. Poisonleaf smirked slightly, dancing up to the smooth stone. With a powerful leap, the calico reached the top of the rock. It was with ease and grace that she landed, turning to survey her new domain. The arrogant cat let her mind run wild with fantasy after fantasy of leading an army of cats, but one thing was the same in all of them. The one cat that stood by her side in every one. The one cat she would never leave--

Another cat hobbled into the clearing, and Poisonstar-- Poisonleaf, looked down on him with cruelly narrowed green eyes. Who was he to interrupt her dreams of stardom? The she-cat hissed, eyes glaring. Deciding to go on with the charade, Poisonleaf stood. "Who are you, rogue, to cross into the lands belonging to the Clans of the valley?" Upon closer inspection of the cat, it seemed he was young, perhaps too young. But Poisonleaf didn't care. His twisted foreleg drew her attention momentarily, but she only smirked, waiting to see how the little cat would respond.

~~Spiriteye~~

Minding his own business, meerly out for a walk, maybe a hunt, Spiriteye had caught the strong wiff of a fellow Nightclanner, fresh at that. He noticed that despite, them being in Nightclan territory, it was awfully close to the border, if not passing over such border. Normally, Spiriteye isnt one for intrusion of privatcy... wait, yes he was. He was a bubble popper, expecially with she-cats, the flirt he was. The white tomcat stood, his bright blue eyes trying to imagine where Poisonleaf would be wandering to at this hour, not that it mattered to him... yes it did. He was now positivly curious. This would kill him one day.


The handsome, young tom put a bit of a skip in his step as he trotted along through the moist grounds to figure out where this fiesty clanmate of his was off too. Such an adventure would start as soon as his paws crossed the Nightclan borders. His wide blue eyes looked around, contiuning in such a carefree skip towards Starclan's Claws, where Poisonleaf's scent was currently taking him. Such scent trail didn't alter or change course of direction, almost as if shehad a very important date in which she was currently late. Slipping through semi-wet brush and undergrowth, Spiriteye came apon where the cats would hold their moonly gatherings. His blue eyes sparked with amusement when he saw Poisonleaf sitting where normaly the leaders would be sitting. Maybe she was pretending to be Poisonstar. A purr escaped his throat as she gave an almight glance around the clearing, sitting a bit taller and such.


Spiriteyes trotted out of the bushes, revieling himself to the she-cat of his clan. His tail waved as it curled up over his back, the happy skip still in his step as he opened his jaw to speak to Poisonleaf. "Enjoying being Poisonstar?" He purred wih amusement towards the she-cat, he gave her a wink of one of his bright blue eyes before turning his head to were her own green eyes were staring. A kitten. A hurt kitten by the look of it. Spiriteyes flickered as he heard what Poisonleaf had spoken, still acting in her ruge of play. He strode forwards on his wide paws, heading towards the cat. His eyes friendly as he gave an outspeach to the kit. "Hey there, are you ok?" He tilted his head.

The odd-looking black kitten maintained his fiery orange-yellow gaze upon his twisted, broken front limb rather than to his surroundings -- as if it would provide some sort of insight of what he should be doing to fix his leg or prevent cats with bad intentions from bringing him harm. Even though his intentions of arriving to StarClan's Claws were to get medicinal help for his leg injury from a Clan cat, his head didn't even raise up to greet what he had been seeking when the arrived. When the arrogant NightClan she-cat addressed him, his fire eyes looked up at her only long enough to listen to what she had to say, before darting down to his limbs, even in speech.
'Who are you, rogue, to cross into the lands belonging to the Clans of the valley?'
Spark twitched his tail in amusement, instantly recognizing from the she-cat's words that she had many buttons that were easy to push. Refraining from meeting her critical gaze, the kitten decided to completely avoid her question. "If I tell you that I am a loner, not a rogue, will that be enough atonement for my crime?" the kitten asked, his words obviously suggesting a maturity far beyond his age. The kitten was easily and cruelly able to dance around the older warrior's words without getting bitten. Before Spark could get the satisfaction of a response, another NightClanner approached Poisonleaf in a very friendly, genial manner. The kitten watched, trying to evaluate their relationship, but could come up with nothing. Unable to understand familial relationships, Spark simply assumed that it was a "clan thing". Maybe all clan cats winked at one another.
'Hey there, are you ok?'
The kitten shook his head, displaying his twisted, raw looking limb the best he could by shuffling his body and pulling it forward. Because the muscles connecting his leg to the rest of the body no longer had a source of blood, they had loss all use and the muscles in his leg had died. Effectively, Spark was dragging around an ornament of his suffering: useful only to draw pity. Spark flicked one ear, somewhat annoyed that the NightClanner would ask such a question. Of course I'm not ok! Do you see my leg? Spark thought to himself, scowling slightly before composing himself enough to respond. "I require the attention of your clan's medicine cat," Spark meowed mechanically. His blazing gaze locked with the warrior before him, full of determination.

POISONLEAF

Poisonleaf's eyes softened slightly as the young cat respeonded, his words showing a maturity beyond him. "If I tell you that I am a loner, not a rogue, will that be enough atonement for my crime?" He was young, this was true, but that wasn't what had her close to regretting her harshness. It was the age he showed in his reply, that wisdom that shouldn't be there. It reminded her much of herself when she was young, just after her mother's banishment. Cold, distant, every word thought out before being spoken, to ensure that just the right amount of emotion showed through. Poisonleaf felt her hardened heart go out to the young kit, but not in pity. She hoped he wouldn't end up like her, afraid to look his reflection in the eye for fear of what he might see there.

From her perch, she noticed Spiriteye shortly before he made himself known, speaking before she could reply to the loner kit. "Enjoying being Poisonstar?" The calico sneered at the flirty tom, knowing that his smile and wink weren't only directed at her, but at every other she-cat in the Clan and beyond. If there weren't a kit present, Poisonleaf more than likely would have flown off the rock and slashed into his face with razor sharp claws. As it was, they weren't alone, so she contented herself with giving him a look so full of venom that she wouldn't be surprised if he keeled over on the spot. She turned her gaze to the kit as Spiriteye asked a stupid question. "Hey there, are you ok?" Poisonleaf glided down from the top of the rock, moving like water as she slid to the ground.

She looked at Spiriteye coldly as she spoke. "Are you blind? Obviously, he's not okay." Sure, the words may have stung the kit, but Poisonleaf cared little. She turned her venom green gaze to the kit, eying him as he replied. "I require the attention of your clan's medicine cat." The words were a bit mechanical, and the portion of Poisonleaf's heart that had hoped he wouldn't be like her cried. It seemed it might be too late for him, but there was nothing she could do. She wasn't about to break her facade to help some loner kit. "Very well then. We shall take you to her." Her words were brisk, and she turned and began heading back toward NightClan's territories.

Over her shoulder, she spoke again, addressing the kit. "I am Poisonleaf, and this is Spiriteye. We are taking you into NightClan territory, to see Smokefur, our medicine cat. I'm almost certain our leader, Ravenstar, would also like to speak with you." She gave him introductions, so that he should know at least a few of the cats he would see. She turned her head as she walked, looking the tom-kit in the face. "So, what is your name, loner?"

With a snort, the young tom brushed past Poisonleaf, making sure his white fur touched her soft calico fur. Bright blue eyes glanced over his shoulder to wink at her with a trilled purr before turning back to Spark, he bent down to look at the young cat's leg before flicking his tail, standing back up to nod at the broken legged tom. Shaking out his fur, the white tom glanced around before turning back to Spark. He was trying to think of a way to help the kit back to Nightclan without injuring the leg even further, and he doubted Spark would let Spiriteye, let alone Poisonleaf carry him there.

Flicking his bushy tail at the sharp tongued she-cat, Spiriteye purred, "Of course, come on. And as the beautiful Poisonleaf stated, I'm Spiriteye." He turned to lead Spark on, "If you need to lean on me, you can go ahead." His voice gentle, afterall, the tom may be a flirt, but he was kind and gentle and he certinly loved kits. That was one thing he and his snappy sister had in common. "I'm sure the lovely Smokefur could fix you up in no time." By saying that, Spiriteye let his eyes travel back to Posionleaf, hoping to catch her reaction.

The tom started to lead the way back towards the hidden Nightclan camp, through the dim pine forests and around the marshes. Best not have a broken legged kit slip in the mud and mess something else up. Shaking his fur again, the white tom paused to catch a pecking crow before catching back up with Poisonleaf who had continued on with Spark. Why not catch some prey for the medicine cat if she was to deal with a broken leg. "Not a bad catch." Spiriteye purred through the feathers on the black feathered bird.
