Rushkit sat looking around, quite overwhelmed by all the new sights since leaving camp for the very first time EVER. Their new, temporary, makeshift camp wasn’t much really, certainly it wasn’t anywhere near as protected as their old camp, at least in terms of living enemies. Apparently their old camp was horribly protected when it came to the water. It was much more open here, without the gentle burble of the camp stream always a quick listen away. It was somewhat unnerving actually. All his life, since he’d first been able to hear, he’d been able to hear the camp stream just outside the reed bed of the nursery. It was strange NOT to be able to hear it now.
His ears twitched forward, toward the direction he thought camp was, as if straining them might cause him to hear the comforting sound once more. He sighed and sat back on his haunches when that didn’t work. Oh well. He looked around again. The Clan wasn’t as separated right now, like back in their old camp. Eelpebble said they would be going back to the old camp as soon as the water went down again, but in the mean time, the queens, elders, and kits like himself were sleeping with the warriors and apprentices surrounding them. Everyone was basically sleeping altogether for once. And after the rush and stress of the evacuation, most every cat WAS asleep, save a few guards and maybe a hunting patrol that had gone out, but Rushkit wasn’t sure about that.
Anyway, he was much more interested in what lay BEYOND those sleeping warriors. He’d barely gotten a chance to get a good look at ANYTHING while Apricotpaw had been carrying him. They’d all been in such a hurry they hadn’t even LISTENED to him when he asked them to stop so he could get a better look at something. RUDE. He supposed he would just have to go find it on his own now. He glanced around, trying to decide the best way to go. It wasn’t like the warriors would let him go if they saw him… they had never let him leave camp before, so why would they now? He chose a route past his mother and sleeping sister, but as he came around his mother’s sleeping form he tripped over Icekit, who hadn’t known would be RIGHT THERE. He gave a small squeak as he fell face first over his brother and laid there, wide-eyed, hoping he hadn’t woken his mother and that no one else had noticed or it would be a while before he could try sneaking away again. And what about Icekit? He hoped he hadn't hurt him....
