Blizzardclaw moved through the camp with purpose, he was looking for any cat that wasn’t currently on assignment by Swanfeather. So he wandered, and it wasn’t long before he found one. It just so happened that it wasn’t a cat that he rather liked, Blueeyes. Sweet, spunky, and dedicated Blizzardclaw couldn’t think of any better cat to take with him. He walked up to her and asked in a gentle tone, “Hey Blueeyes, care to come hunting with me?” He asked with a sly smile. He started to walk towards the entrance, of the camp hoping she would follow in his wake. “I’m thinking about fishing some, then spending plenty of time combing through the forest looking for anything that hasn’t hunkered down for the winter yet.” He turned to look at her as he walked backwards slowly towards the entrance coaxing her on just a bit more towards following him.

She was grooming herself just outside of the warriors den. She had just woken up form being on the dawn patrol. She paid no attention to anything right now since Swanfeather had not put her on anything else for this time. Her ears perked toward the sound of someone wandering camp and she looked up. Her blue eyes fixed upon Blizzardclaw as he was walking around, searching for something. She rolled her eyes then and licked her paw before she swiped it over her face. Hey Blueeyes, care to come hunting with me? The voice slid into her hearing faster than she could decipher who it was. She looked up though and looked at Blizzardclaw. She got up then and stretched as he walked to the entrance. He then announced to her what he was planning on doing and she chuckles lightly. She ran to catch up to him before she slowed to his pace. "Would it be easier to catch the hiding prey first, and then the fish. While it is still warm at least." She pointed that out to the tom. Her tail flicked with her amusement from it as she awaited his response.

“Sure we can do that.” Blizzardclaw easily conceded, “However we don’t have to, they will still be hiding when we come back… that is unless we set up a few traps.” He turned to look the she-cat in the eyes. “Ever made a trap for the land critters?” He chuckled, he wasn’t sure that many other Rainclan cats had done it. He moved towards where he had stashed the supplies to do so after he broke eye contact, leaving the question hanging. It wasn’t a far walk to the stick that had been jammed into freshly packed dirt. He pulled it out with his teeth and started digging into the hole he had created until his claws hit what he was looking for. There were acorns, nuts and a few other odds and ends he had collected that the small mammals were fond of. “I started collecting this stuff last newleaf, I figured they would be as hungry as we are so an easy meal would be too good for them to pass up.” He turned to face Blueeyes, “I wanted to save these for last but we can make them first if you would like.”

She looked at the tom and her tail flicked in slight irritation. She rolled her eyes then and followed him. Have you ever set traps for land critters? No she has not, she was mainly a fisher, but she did try to go after the slow land prey that came around here. She watched and followed as he went to a spot and un-dug some critter food. She shakes her head then and she smiles. "You can set up your trap and I shall start fishing. How is that plan?" She did not know what he truly wanted, for she knew that most cats did not call her up to just talk, she was not a truly likeable she-cat. She was irritated at times, but she learned to get over things. Right now, she just wanted to fish and get back to camp. She really did not know what this tom wanted, but she waited until she answered, for she was defiantly not a mind reader, though at times, she wished that she were. It would come in great handy.

Blizzard didn’t even have to think about her offer for a second, “I think that is actually a fine idea, I’ll get to work setting up two or three traps and we can see who brings home more fresh kill.” He suggested wanted to add a little more competition to make the whole situation a bit more interesting. “I’m assuming as you were so quick to personally dismiss the trap idea that you aren’t so fond of land animals?” He asked as he started picking a few odds and ends out of the hole to make his first trap. “I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the traps though.”
He didn’t wait much longer as he gave her a curt nod and left to set up his first trap, he had an idea in mind already. He set it out in a slight opening where it would be a decent run before a faster animal like a squirrel could get to a tree, he was also glad it had a few low lying bushes to hide him from his prey. He quickly set it up and it took no time at all as it was a very simple process, he just dropped the food bits down after soaking them to get his scent off. He even carefully kicked a bit of dirt, debris, snow and ice on it to make the whole scene look more natural. After tidying up his little scene he quickly made his way to the nearest bush to disappear and wait for the prey to come and take the bait.

Blue eyes rolled from Blueeyes. She chuckled lightly though. "If you must know Blizzardclaw, I hate hunting land animals. I prefer fishing. You can have fun with your traps." She knew that he was trying to make it into a competition and she was not going to bait it. She was not a competitive she-cat. The most she wanted was to hunt for her clan, and try to make her clan grow. But then, that would involve a tom actually learning to like her, then learning to love her. She shook her head as she headed for the river. She stopped at the bank and made sure that her shadow was not casting on the water.
Blueeyes had herself still as she watched the fish in the water. She saw that one was about to jump out of the water and she got read y to swap it onto the bank. Once the fish did, her paw made contact. It hit the bank of the river and she smiles lightly. She was already getting a start for fresh kill for her clan this leaf bare.

Blizzardclaw heard the she-cats response when he was still setting up his trap. It didn’t surprise him one bit, most rainclan cats had a serious problem with land animals. They hated the taste, texture or whatever other excuses they could make about the food. Blizzardclaw however was different, he didn’t make any excuses. Fresh kill was fresh kill and it was his job to bring it back for the clan, they would live with it and survive. This wasn’t exactly a fair idea however, not every cat was as dedicated as the white warrior and deep down he knew this. He wouldn’t stop trying to get others to his level though, what he failed to see however was how this wasn’t necessarily correct as it was just an opinion. To him it wasn’t though, it was just a fact of life.
It wasn’t long after setting up the trap before Blizzard had his first squirrel checking out his little trap. He let the small creature live and inspect the food for a few seconds, remaining completely still and silent. He refused to even breathe until he saw the small animal hunker down as it prepared for his meal, that was when he struck. He quickly shot out from under his bush and struck the meal, delivering a quick killing bite right after. He was satisfied with the results and drug it back to where he had left the rest of his trapping supplies. He quickly kicked frosty dirt over it and noticed after his quick exertion of energy just how cold he had gotten whilst laying in wait.

After a while, Blue had caught about three fish. She was giving up on that for the fish were starting to hide in the river. She growled lowly before she picked up her kills and she walked over to where she left Blizzard. When she got to where he was, or at least, stayed out of the way of his trap. She dug a small hole and buried the fish in the snow. Well, at least it will still be fresh. She thought before she walked over to where Blizzard had just buried his kill. Trap is working well I see. She stated quietly. If there was still land prey around, she was not going to scare it away on Blizzard.
She looked at the trap and noticed a squirrel walking over. She nudged Blizzard softly so he would look. You would think they would learn. She mewed quietly. She watched the squirrel and she watched Blizzard, calmly and quietly.

Blizzardclaw moved over slightly in his bush to make room for Blueeyes after she approached, he too saw the next small critter that was falling for the trap he had placed. He again waited for it to hunker down and prepare itself for the much needed meal before he quickly shot in and ended its’ life. He turned to smile at blue, blood tingeing the tips of his fangs before turning back and dragging it to bury the fresh kill with his other catch. “I think I have caught enough, we have to space out what we catch so we don’t eat them all one day and starve the next.” He justified as he walked over to pick up the bait from his traps and re-bury it where he had dug it up earlier. He turned to the she cat and asked her about her foray into the clans’ food business, “What’d you manage to catch?”

She watched as he killed the critter easily form the trap. I might try that some time. Not now, but I might have him teach me. She watched him un-bury his kill and the she-cat walked over to where she had buried hers. She grabs the three fish by the tails and she walks back over to him, she places the on the ground and she looks at him. Her tail flicks happily. "I think we have enough for now. Buried, it shall keep way longer." She smiles lightly at the kill they had gathered and she looks at him. "So, would you be able to teach me you trap tricks? They look interesting." She mewed before she picked her kill back up and waited for him. They could talk more at camp surely. Unless he had something better to do.

Blizzardclaw tilted his head as Blueeyes asked him if he could teach her to make the traps to catch the ground bound fresh kill asking, “I thought you said you didn’t hunt land animals and you only fished?” Smiling softly he picked up his two pieces of kill and started carrying; half dragging them back to camp. -Thank starclan they were furry or they would be so beat up by the time they got back- the white warrior thought to himself. “If you are honestly interested there are plenty of useful things I could teach a bright young cat like yourself.” He said around the mouthful of bushy tail fur he had from carrying dinner, he turned and looked into her eyes searching for any sort of interest in his offer. He had big plans, and she might be the cat he had been looking for as it was going to be a very special job.

Her ears flick toward him as he jokes with her and she smiles before she looked at him. Well, I think i can change my ways. She mewed after him as she picked up her fish. She watched as he half dragged the land critters back to the camp and she shakes her head lightly as she followed behind him. She was very grateful that the land critters had fur on them. Those poor things would not have enough meat to eat when they got back to camp if they did not have their fur. Thoughts interrupted when he looked at her and tried to talk past the mouthful of fur. She purrs in amusement at it, but she was interested in the things that he could teach her. She quickens her step until she was walking beside him and she looks at him. Well, what would this training include? Her words were muffled by the scales of the fish, but it still came out, semi-audible, and understandable. Her tail flicks in curiosity as she walked with him.

Blizzardclaw turned and pressed on, he was glad to have the ear of the younger warrior and the question about what he could teach her opened the door to a conversation he had been looking to have with another warrior for so long. “There are many things, hunting and techniques to better increase the amount of freshkill we bring in is the little stuff.” He said pausing for a moment and readjusting the kill he was carrying, “The big things I can teach you have to do with combat, from technique to metal fortitude I can teach you to be one of the greatest and fiercest warriors the clans have ever seen. The other clans would fear the very mention of your name…” The white warrior said trailing off leaving the she-cat to think about everything he was offering her, it was a big decision indeed but he could show her so many things she would never learn anywhere else.

She listened to him and she started to think on all of it. She stopped as well when he paused to adjusted the prey. She picked up her pace then and she followed him. The last sentence he said really caught her attention. The most feared in the clans? She was starting to like this training idea. She looked at him when the neared the camp and she nods. More training sounds like a good thing. She mewed to the tom quickly before the fish decided to slide from her grasp. She was not going to lose the prey so close to the camp. She quickened her pace a bit so she could be rid of the scales in her mouth. They would hopefully talk more about this.

Blizzardclaw saw the she-cat picking up her pace as her prey threatened to slip free from her grasp and he took the hint and started half running towards the camps entrance. He was careful not to lose his footing on the ice that surrounded camp and soon he was pushing through the entrance and leaving his prey on the rather pitiful fresh kill pile. “Well that was necessary…” He said tilting his head rather unimpressed with how little food there was to feed the clan, he know however they would make it work as they always did. “So you seemed interested in a bit of extra training?” He turned to ask the she-cat, if she said yes he would take her outside of camp to somewhere private and explain exactly what she had in mind. It was going to be a big project and would require tons of commitment from the both of them, but Blizzardclaw was sure that he could raise a young willing warrior to even greater levels then he had achieved.
