• Believe it or not, but you can probably read this GN without knowledge of any fandoms in general, since there are two people who have no idea what's going on and both happen to be the main characters. You're in safe(ish) hands.

Summary (Series 10)

It was supposed to be a normal day. Just getting a cup of coffee somewhere nice and quiet. It's Friday. It was supposed to be a day off.
It was, of course, the last thing it was actually going to be. 
Entering a coffee shop, The Doctor finds himself followed by an oddly dressed man who proceeds to sit down in the seat across from him and say, in no uncertain terms, to leave.
Rightly so, The Doctor wants to finish his coffee. He doesn't want to deal with a town which seems intent on kicking him out for no good reason. Anyway, the man with the funny hat seems to be a bit out of the ordinary. Just because he seems to be on The Doctor's side is even more unusual. Recognizing that both of them are something that the neither has never seen, both of them end up on a time machine/spaceship - a TARDIS. One trip. Only one trip.
"Take me to where you come from," says the man.
This was the beginning of the end.

- And thus we start our comic. My RP partner started out the RP and left it pretty opened ended on where The Doctor was going or landed, since at the time she didn't really know for sure which characters I was going to RP. I have had mercy and given you a location, though in theory Doc doesn't even know where he's landed. He just wanted a cup of coffee.
- I'm going to end up doing notes like this, very likely. Hopefully all the pretty formatting will stick.
- Dates and locations will be added as much as possible, when possible. However, due to timey-whimey shenanigans and the fact both of us would state X amount of time would pass only to realize that it really should have been X amount of time, it has been a bit debated how long within canon these jokers have been traveling around. For a recent conversation today, and for convince, I placed this at some point in 2016. Years should progress in order, ish, but since this comic/RP jumped around in time I see a need for a time/location stamp.

Even I'm not that crazy for attention.
- I'm going to be drawing this outfit for a while. This day last forever. They do a lot.
- I'm not particularly impressed with my design for "Common Grounds", but I wanted it to look plain. So I guess I got that!
- Meet our second main character, by the way! His outfits are gonna be so fun to design as the story progresses. 
- I made a specific point of starting his pony-tail off as short.
- Despite the pony-tail I draw, my RP partner supports Myrnin wearing his hair to his shoulders. XD
- Small towns; you're supposed to know everyone.
- Getting the format correct on this was hilarious.

Yeah, cup of coffee, five sugars ... yeah, you heard me ... yes, I want five ... thank you, sir. Oh, a donut too ... well, if I wasn't getting the donut, I would've gotten ten.
There's nothing to do.
No, no, the point of having a day off is to have nothing to do, right?
Hum?
No. Day off. No snooping. No pondering. No nothing.
- The Doctor gets not only his first speaking lines, but the first speaking lines in the comic! ... and they're that. XD
- First time seeing Myrnin's face! Yay!
- If you notice, The Doctor is on a phone. To be noted, I probably should have made it a flip-phone. I doubt he can use anything else. XD
- If I wasn't editing for continuity's sake - since this plot IS three years old - then there would probably have been a VERY blatant mistake here. I make a couple along the way too, ha ha. If anyone is curious about this mistake/s, feel free to comment and I'll reveal. ^^
- Bonus points to anyone who notices which item of Myrnin's clothing changed color!

How in heaven's name did he get here?

- Can we say someone forgot to put their signature in, so now the cash-register says it?
- A certain item of clothing is back to being the correct color.
- Some people might be slightly worried about Doc being around.

Myrnin sits at a table, facing the back of 12. He looks pensive/annoyed. The DO NOT ENTER door is at his back. His finger taps against the table several times.

12TH DOCTOR

*Something weird is going on. Not your business...*

6 Seconds Later

12TH DOCTOR

Please stop tapping.

PANEL 3

Myrnin looks annoyed. There is a slight and sudden red haze to his eyes.

MYRNIN

Stop texting!

12TH DOCTOR

...No

PANEL 4

Myrnin clenches the coffee cup. His hand stills. The rim of the coffee cup as a slight line of red along it.

MYRNIN

*What if he's staying? No. No. He doesn't know. This guy could be dead by tomorrow.*

*If Amelie doesn't catch him, someone else will.*

PANEL 5

MYRNIN

*I'm going to have to talk, aren't I? I'm not good at social situations!*

Myrnin looks concerned in the general direction of 12. 12 looks back a bit, but is mostly paying attention to his text message.

12TH DOCTOR

TEXT: @bill Went out for coffee some weird man with a ponytail is staring at me he has nice pants ...

- I took great joy in the expressions here.
- The Doctor's description of Myrnin just completely sums him up.
- Thus the retcon begins for continuity. XD
- I enhanced the color for Myrnin's eyes digitally in the third panel a bit because the colors didn't mix. Like, watercolor didn't mix? I'm shocked???

12 is still mostly looking at his phone. He speaks loudly (in bold). Myrnin looks shocked in the background.

Do you want something?

Pan out to the whole room. Everyone is looking at Myrnin and The Doctor. Show a lot of people in the room, including some of the back booths.
PANEL 4
Myrnin looks shocked and a dark (redish) cloud is hovered over his head.
MYRNIN
*Aaaaaah no*
PANEL 5
Myrnin stands up, looking conflicted.
MYRNIN
*I don't want explain to a son, 'Sorry. Odd Guy died in a small town no one's heard of. No, you can't come collect the body; you can't know we exist or what lives here.'*

- So tech didn't like me today. XD I had to redo this page partly three times and then I was posting it here and it gave me a 502 Bad Gateway (twice), so I had to rewrite all this (only once, because I wised up). Aaaah well.
- Bill got some border text colors. If I give a character a color for their voice/thoughts/messages than that means they'll turn up as a character (major or minor) sooner or later. Haven't had a chance to show yet, but regular stock characters speak in black-and-white.
- This episode is very dialogue heavy. It will come and it will go. Character interactions are fun. I'll try to make the dialogue heavy pieces as entertaining as possible.
- Myrnin's overheating. Panicking in red haze, like you do.

PANEL 1

Myrnin shuffles past 12 and most of his table, coffee cup in hand. His shoes make a FLIP FLOP noise (because that's what type of shoes they are.)

PANEL 2

Myrnin looks concerned more than angry now, though hints of anger remain.

MYRNIN

Why are you here?

PANEL 3

12 (left) and Myrnin (right) look at each other. 12 looks mildly interested, but that's about it. Myrnin continues to look concerned-angry.

12TH DOCTOR

I'm here to drink my coffee and eat my donut. Why are you here?

12TH DOCTOR

Sniff

12TH DOCTOR

*Well, whatever he's doing here, it isn't drinking coffee. He's drinking blood.*

PANEL 4

12 and Myrnin sit across from each other. Myrnin's eyes are narrowed a bit, but he isn't saying anything.

12TH DOCTOR

*God, why can't I just have one normal day?*

*Sure, drama and running into the abnormal, but for Rassilon's sake, can't I even have breakfast without running into a - er - vampire?*

- Well, finally actually said it. I hope there were enough hints, whoops. XD
- Somehow I kinda doubt anyone here has yet to believe me that you don't need to have watched Doctor Who, but on the off chance, "For Rassilon's sake" might as well just be "For God's sake" and you really don't need to know anything else. In 5 seasons worth of context, Rassilon hasn't been important. XD And when I started this, I had zero clue nor did I care who Rassilon was. It is not important for this story.
- In other news, please take me out of Common Grounds. I'm so sick of painting chairs. XD

WE'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF RURAL TEXAS! The nearest town is miles away!

MYRNIN

I live here.

Myrnin looks hopeful

MYRNIN

You'll be leaving soon, I expect?

12's eyes glisten mischievously as he takes another bite of donut.

12TH DOCTOR

Well, I might take a walk after I finish.

- This page and the next one are ones which I already want to redraw.
- I may or may not have had a slight style change in the last month.
- I may or may not use it for upcoming pages.
- Anyway, small retcons of the original script continue, in this case expressing some dialogue verbally rather than as thoughts.
- The Doctor's level of chill rises and does not react.
- Also had to retcon the fact that Myrnin can hear the heart beats (two hearts) of The Doctor because totally forgot that was a thing when I was first doing this ... oh, in 2017? I don't know when this dialogue was written ... 2017 or 2016.
- The purple border will be explained at a later date (er ... either next episode or a couple episodes from now, can't remember which). Suffice it to say that Myrnin did mention there was a border. The purple mini-borders around buildings within the town is a different matter.
- As it says, not to scale. Think of those little kid maps where all the major landmarks are giant and that's how I drew that map.

Myrnin looks slightly furious, eyebrows close together. His coffee cup is still in front of him.

MYRNIN

*If he's not leaving, then I need to make sure he stays in here. "Common Grounds." Neutral ground.*

PANEL 2

12 smiles, studying Myrnin, eyes wandering to his coffee cup. Fake innocently as possible, still smiling, he asks:

12TH DOCTOR

So, what're you drinking?

PANEL 3

Myrnin stiffens. His hands closes around the cup.

PANEL 4

Myrnin holds up the cup so the words are visible on the side.

MYRNIN

What's that word say?

12 leans forward, squinting as he choked out, carefully pronouncing each syllable.

12TH DOCTOR

COFF-ee.

PANEL 5

Two of two panels at the bottom. He leaned back, sipping on his own cup. He smiles slightly around the cup.

12TH DOCTOR

But we both know that that's not what it is.

- Somehow got this up finally. XD
- I didn't want to keep doing the same old background. So two panels got the solid color treatment.
- Shocked Myrnin was fun to draw.
- I remember being very amused when we (me and Bolderpelt) wrote this. 
- Transferring RP into comic form is fairly easy until you realize that all your drama is mostly tension and dialogue based.
- So I'm going to be learning how to panel better here soon. Next episode will probably be a lot more experimental than this.

*Alright then. This just gets better and better.*

He lips are thin.

MYRNIN

*Whoever you are ... you're interesting.*

PANEL 2

Myrnin leans back.

MYRNIN

And to that statement, I should say what, exactly? You seem to be quite fixated on the contents of a coffee cup.

PANEL 3

Myrnin looks over 12's shoulder at the stand-in at the counter. His eyes are narrowed.

PANEL 4

Stand-in rolls his eyes. Sighs

PANEL 5

Stand-in moves in the background, ushering out patrons. Perhaps an over-head shot for this. Myrnin stares at 12.

PANEL 6

Stand-in turns OPEN/CLOSED sign.

PANEL 7

Stand-in passes Myrnin again. Whispers (in smaller text)

STAND-IN

I'd get Oliver if I knew where he was. Just don't kill the guy. Remember the rules.

- Someone tell me if the black text on grey background is hard to read! I'll change it. I'm trying to work out Generic People speak. Might have to try white on black if this doesn't work.
- I was trying out new way to panel a page. Still working on those dynamic poses. I've been learning while I'm busy coloring the old pages and I've worked out some other ways to do some things.
-Generic Stand-In is getting the death stare. Why would Myrnin ever forget the rules?
- This is the first time I've gotten a wide enough view of common grounds to see just how mall it is.
- Notice that - okay, it may be hard to see since the black blends in a bit - there is still people in the back of the cafe. (//cough// away from the windows //cough//)
- Oliver is actually a name to remember for the future.
- Back when me and Bolderpelt were RPing in The Thieves Museum, I RPed Oliver as well as Myrnin. I couldn't not mention him in the beginning of the new RP.
- I recently saved all the old 50 pages of the beginning of the RP and I'm reminded how LONG this day is. I may retcon split it up.

Myrnin looks back at 12, looking tired. Waves hand at door.

MYRNIN

It isn't locked. Just take your car, horse, or whatever and leave. You might make it across the border before the Founder notices and starts asking questions.

PANEL 2

12TH DOCTOR

Hm, interesting offer, but I'm going to finish my food, and then maybe I'll leave.

Sips coffee and looks interested.

PANEL 3

Myrnin looks hopeful.

MYRNIN

Isn't there such a thing as 'to-go' food these days?

12TH DOCTOR

Yeah, but it tastes so much better where it's made.

Pops the last of the donut into his mouth.

PANEL 4

Myrnin looks confused.

MYRNIN

Oookay then.

PANEL 5

12th picks the cup up.

12TH DOCTOR

What's a Founder then?

Myrnin drinks from his own cup, as if in spite.

MYRNIN

*Think. Odd Guy got in without the alarms going off. So if he exits the same way, the memory wipe wont work and there will be someone with too much information running around. How did he get here?*

- Think we have three or four pages left to this episode?
- Myrnin so wants him to leave.
- Am I name dropping "Founder" enough? I never know the balance of hints.
- There is very little coffee left.

Myrnin waves his hand around lazily.

MYRNIN

She's... the mayor.

*Lie.*

PANEL 2

Lips press together, head tilts a bit.

MYRNIN

And it 'the Founder. There's only one.

12TH DOCTOR

She founded this place, then? She must be pretty old. Unless Founder means something different here, of course.

He shrugs.

PANEL 3

*I haven't seen architecture like this so widely used on Earth in decades. This place is old, very old.*

PANEL 4

Myrnin is frustrated. He raises his hands slightly.

MYRNIN

Answers will satisfy him, yet if I tell him he wont be able to leave. Perfect!

PANEL 5

He drops his hands, leans against the table, and rests his chin on one hand.

MYRNIN

Yes, she founded this town and yes, she is quite old. Will you leave now? You have finished your food and at this point I have your safety in mind. Oliver might not if he ends up coming back.

- Myrnin gives it all up as a bad job.
- The shop next to Common Grounds says "Andy & Co." It isn't relevant, but I figured I'd mention.
- Four pages left for this episode!
- Morganville is old, very old. At least 300 years. The Founder is old, very old.
- Myrnin is selectively good at secrets when he wants to know the other person's secret just as much.

Heads for the door and tosses both the plate and cup into the trashcan by the door.

MYRNIN (O.S.)

If it helps get you out.

Myrnin stands.

PANEL 5

Myrnin downs whatever is left in the cup.

PANEL 6

Myrnin tosses it toward the stand-in.

PANEL 7

The stand-in catches it, but doesn't look pleased.

-The Doctor doesn't like the name Oliver all that much. He thinks it sounds like the cat from Oliver and Co.
-I got lazy with eyebrow color consistency. I painted this in the semi-dark.
-The counter-hand really isn't impressed.

MYRNIN

He looks back over 12's shoulder and sees Oliver exit from the DO NOT ENTER door.

MYRNIN

Now.

12 ducks into the street and Myrnin follows, looking behind himself.

12TH DOCTOR

Come on.

PANEL 4

The pair hurry along the street to the corner/alley where the TARDIS is parked.

-So we're almost done with the episode y'all!
-Just ... two more pages, I think?
-That's Oliver in Panel 2 talking with the counter clerk. Yes, he has a similar design to the Doctor. No, this was not intentional. XD Oliver has a sharper face, I would say? Also has very specific parts of his hair going grey, but he's too far away to completely see.

So, question before I go... are you a vampire then? A proper one?

Myrnin has his arms crossed, hand under one arm.

MYRNIN

Go? Go how?

He looks hesitant.

MYRNIN

And ... don't ask me what you would call 'proper.' But yes. I am.

PANEL 4

12 smirks. Large panel, which shows other figures with large hats and a couple skulking in alleys across the street.

12TH DOCTOR

*Easy to guess. This is some sort of secret vampire town.*

Go how?

He turns and unlocks the box. Click

The door swings open. Myrnin's eyes widen, but reader doesn't get to see at what yet.

12TH DOCTOR

Go in this. You can come take a look, if you want.

-You know. Finally getting an update, heh.
-I'd like to get better quality watercolors, like what the first pages of this comic were made from. But cheap watercolor is cheap.
-You know as soon as someone looks into the box, they're gonna be here for a while.

One long hiatus later and we're back! I got a drawing tablet and this, always being a fun comic, thus will follow what I consider 'fun' and become digitize. It also features me attempting to work a style for it. So here we are! To my knowledge, the previous pages wont be re-done. At least not yet. So here's what Doc and Myrnin look like going forward!

MYRNIN

This is the last one in the universe, so you'd have to steal it. Unfortunately I already stole it and I am quite fond of it, so that's not going to happen.

Myrnin gestures around. [this movement is in Panel 1]

MYRNIN

This moves?

12TH DOCTOR

I will give you one, one, free ride, if you want. Or you can leave.

12 spins around the console. Walks up a staircase and gets a package of oreos, popping on into his mouth.

- Well that took a while. :/ Had that sitting with just Doc to color for AGES. Still have to work out a consistent word-bubble.
- We've also reached what is the Usual Way Doctor Gets Companions(tm). He just invites random dudes to travel with him. Completely normal.

Fun Facts:

Will be done all in watercolor - or in the case of the character pictures or episode headings, whatever I want the medium to be.

Will likely only update as I finish a page rather than with any set schedule.

Quality over quantity

Fully plotted to ... a very long time. In theory ... about 4 to 5 series worth.

No end to the story currently. Because based off an RP.

Co written with Bolderpelt, art completely done by me. If you wanna know who wrote what, she RPs Doc's side and I RP Myrnin's side.

The Last of the Real Ones is a song by Fall Out Boys.

It starts at Series 10 because that's the last season with the 12th Doctor.
