Falconleap
Everybody waiting for you to break down Everybody's wathcing to see the fall out
------------------------------- On her own was a rather odd occasion for Falconleap, she was often seen in the mix of her clanmates, ordering patrols or testing apprentices. Falconleap was always among her clanmates, but right now she had slipped away and traveled her way toward the sun stones.
Her nose flared tasting the air for any scent of LightingClan cats. Their border scent was strong and didn't cross the border, which was a relief she'd hate to have to run all the way back to camp in order to strengthen patrols for later in the day. Easily she jumped to a higher rock and curled herself up, tucking her nose toward her belly and closing her eyes.
Her mind race and didn't allow for even the shortest of cat-naps. She growled softly and sat up a little, finding another comfortable spot, this time she sat up with her front legs crossed in front of her, and belly warming on the stones.
Her mind drifted, trying to think of things she had to do, Cricketpaw was due to a hunting mission, to test her skills. Tomorrow's border patrols were to be made, however she tired to push away thought of her own duties in order to better relax, but her mind wasn't having any of that.
As she rested on the stones she just drifted into a semi-relaxed state. The warmth of the stones were easing away the tension built up over three hunting patrols and one border patrol all in one day. Falconleap settled better now, her eyes lazily open and her head slowly drifted to rest on her paws, her maw slightly open to catch any upcoming scents.

The day had been rather busy for Silentsong, something she was quite used to. While she had never once truly hated being around her clan mates, there were times when she had to get away. And this was one of them. It didn't happen often, maybe once in only a few moons and even then the chances of her staying gone for any period longer than a few hours was not likely. She usually came back within the hour and if something needed to be done before she returned there were enough cats in the clan to figure out at least that they needed to stop bleeding. Other than that, she would be back shortly. The sound of a bird over head caused the she-cat to smile as she limped along. Her injured leg had been enough to slow down her process of heading to the border.
This had been the second time in a short while that she had left the camp without supervision and needless to say it scared her a little. She knew that traveling through the territory was one thin,g but heading toward the border was another. She also knew that if she wasn't careful about the things she said or did while outside of camp she could easily render herself completely useless for the clan. With a sigh, the she-cat slowed her movements, hobbles becoming a little uneasy for a moment. She often coaxed herself into a state of near depression or anxiety by thinking ths way, but something deep down wouldn't seem to let go of her thoughts. Carefully the lame she-cat lowered herself to her haunches, pausing a moment to sit and rest her leg. She looked down at the awkward appendage that sat at a terribly awkward angle. The paw was nearly ripped from it's joint, now held together by scars and flesh. Her limb was nearly completely demolished, the bones and shape of it all seemed to be awkward and jut everywhere. But she lowered her head and gave her leg a few ginger licks.
As she approached the border, a familiar scent touched her nose. StoneClan. Their territory met LightningClan's and often smelled foreign to her nose, especially because she didn't come here often. But she had found that this was the best place to find Poppy and so came here occasionally to pluck poppies from their plants. She would take the entire stem and usually only took the ones that were freshly bloomed so she would be able to store them longer than she would probably need. Just a precaution, and a habit. One that Mintnose had taught her nearly twenty moons ago. Silentsong lowered her gaze, pausing a moment as the sound of pawsteps filled the air and instantly her hackles raised. She had minimal fighting skills, and while her leg did indeed slow her down, she could fend off an attacker need be.

A shadow, prowled almost silently through the heather and moorland grass. The mid afternoon sun shining down on it, its waves of heat threatening to overwhelm the tom. Not that it was particularly hot that day, no, the sun just seemed to warm the tom more than other cats, the dark pelt seeming to absorb heat. It seemed to also be making it incredibly difficult for him to hunt as well. Usually he was able to catch much more, instead he had caught only a single rabbit. Only one! And that one only because it was injured somehow.
It made Swiftspirit curious, but he was determined to catch at least another before heading back to camp. After all he was the deputy and he had to be able to show other cats he was worthy of the office. He was young he knew, but he guessed Emberstar didn't want some older cat telling her what to do... or maybe it was an innocent motive. Whatever it was it didn't matter, he was the deputy and he had to behave like he knew what he was doing.
A smile crossed his face as he felt a gentle breeze ruffle the moor grasses and bring to his position the scent of a rabbit nearby. Finally the wind was in his favor. He approached slowly and then leaped towards where he could smell the rabbit, hoping to scare it out into the open, he did. After a short chase he knocked it down and swiftly broke its neck.
With a smile he dropped it and licked the droplets of blood from his whiskers, inhaling deeply the aroma of earth, heather, rabbit and..... wait... Silentsong? What was she doing out alone? Slightly concerned he picked up the rabbit and stashed in a nearby rabbit warren that was currently unnocupied. Then with concern and a small hint of mischief in his eyes he began to follow her scent trail.
At first he was slightly louder than he wanted to be, but then he thought that if Silentsong were nearby she would be able to hear him, so he began to move forward more quietly. So much so that he hid in the grasses and came up behind her. Her ears were still pricked in the direction his steps had been coming from earlier and his whiskers twitched in amusement.
"Hey Silentsong."

EVERYBODY'S WAITING FOR YOU TO BREAK DOWN Falconleap's mind slowed down, she was able to soak up the sun however the slightest wind change brought her to sit up-right, she pushed herself to sit tall and proud, her nose flaring drinking in the scent. LightingClan was becoming stronger, cats were headed her way!
Falconleap stood up, hackles raised in a natural reflex, they could be coming to cross the border and she was here alone, no way in StarClan's eyes could she get away without major injury to get help, she was also to far from Camp to yowl for help, her lip pulled in a snarl at her own stupidity. Just as her body tensed for a fight she caught a glimpse of a she-cat and from the herb scent that covered her entire body, she knew that this she-cat coming to the border was Silentsong, she-cat medicine cat of LightingClan, Falconleap relaxed.
She easily leapt down from her rocks and effortlessly walked across the rock, from the looks of the she-cat's legs, she wouldn't be a threat Falconleap relaxed. "Hello, I'm Falconleap are you -" She was cut short in her words, a large tom came around the bend and right toward Silentsong, now this tom Falconleap knew. Swiftspirit was his name and his held the deputy rank, her lip snarled again, hackles raised. "What are you two doing here? Planning to steal herbs from StoneClan" She said out loud bringing attention to herself, her voice wasn't a growl or hiss but it did give off a irritated tone, she wasn't going to taunt them, even if there was only two cats, she was assured that Swiftspirit could call for more cats if a battle broke out, she wasn't going to be stupid and start an unneeded one.

LightningClan had been her home for the last thirty-four moons. She had her hide saved at a young age and while she had a permanent injury to show for the accident, she was a loyal cat of LightningClan and did what she could to help her clan in any way. While she had no intention of stealing herbs from any clan, let alone StoneClan. After all, she got along quite well with most of the other Medicine Cats and Crowfang was no exception. She didn't want to ruin that acquaintanceship. After all, everyone knew that allies were not a terrible thing to have. She often had to be escorted to the medicine cat meetings and would return home with the bordering medicine cats and could usually make decent conversation with the two. She didn't hate any of the medicine cats and it would take a lot for her to do so. A lot.
Hey, Silentsong. The voice that erupted from the grass behind her caused the she-cat to jump. She had indeed not been expecting him to be there. That was why it took a few moments of deep breaths before she could offer a smile toward the deputy. "Good afternoon, Swiftspirit." She said with a smile, dipping her head. He was a good deputy and she had never once had a problem with his company. While her thoughts had indeed been intended on spending an hour or so out of camp alone, she knew that it was not right for her to do so. "How is the prey running today?" She added politely, the smile on her face fading for a moment as another voice sounded from across the border. Hello, I'm Falconleap are you -
"Silentsong." She finished the question, attempting to keep a little peace between the two deputies. She understood the trouble with boundary disputes and other disputes along those lines. She would stand by her clan with everything she was. But she saw no point in fighting over this. Especially since she certainly was not stealing herbs from StoneClan. What are you two doing here? Planning to steal herbs from StoneClan. She sighed slightly and shook her head. "I would never steal herbs from another clan. And the only reason I would ever cross your border for any form of herbs was if Crowfang and I were exchanging herbs. I don't steal." She said simply, her tail flicking back and forth slowly.

Swiftspirit's yellow eyes glittered warmly as he purred his greetings to Silentsong.
"The prey is running.... well, relatively well."
He refrained from telling her that he was having a slightly harder time than usual, that wasn't something she should have to worry about, after all, she didn't hunt anyways, she was a medicine cat.
His black ears perked up at the sound of another female voice and he looked up, a charming smile splitting his face. Seeing who it was he mewed a greeting as well.
"Greetings Falconleap, what's a charming she-cat such as yourself doing so far away from camp all alone? Not tired of your usual clanmates company I trust?"
His tail twitched with amusement. He realized now, that of all the cats currently present he was the youngest, he was also the youngest deputy for that matter. How strange. It didn't matter to him though, so long as he and Emberstar could keep the clan safe. He would grow in experience and maturity and there were always senior warriors around to ask advice of.
When Falconleap accused Silentsong of stealing he gave her a quizzical look.
"Now why would we have to steal herbs? We are not in any overwhelming need, and Silentsong can ask Crowfang if necessary. Unless of course you are being protective because you are in need?"
The whole time he kept his fur flat, his voice curious, but unpreocuppied, as if he cared nothing at all for the matter, but his eyes were piercing and thoughtful. This might be something worth reporting to Emberstar, or it might just be pure obnoxiousness from the she-cat, after all, neither of them had crossed borders. Unless she had when he hadn't been there. He doubted that though, there was no fresh Stoneclan scent.

EVERYBODY'S WAITING FOR YOU TO BREAK DOWN Falonleap's eyes narrowed, she adjusted her placement on her rock perch and corrected her posture. She tired to make herself appear more respectable, she didn't mean to accuse Silentsong so harshly it was just that with leaf-bare around the corner, all herbs were important. Even if she didn't have such great knowledge of herbs she wasn't going to risk a seemly innocent medicine cat taking herbs that rightfully belong to StoneClan. The presence of the deputy wasn't relaxing either, he might be young but she wasn't going to underestimate him ever.
"StoneClan is not at a loss for herbs, but as you know leaf-bare is coming and I can't risk herbs being trampled on our side of the border during your patrols" She said flatly, her eyes looking away from the deputy to glance warming toward Silentsong.
"I did not mean to accuse you so harshly, I'm just weary about herbs and the fast approaching leaf-bare. ." She said respectfully toward Silentsong, bowing her head in remorse. "Please accept my apologize" Falconleap said again, this time keeping her head bowed in respect.

Silentsong sent a glance toward the deputy of LightningClan as he spoke of the prey. She was glad to hear that the prey in their clan was going well. It was comforting really to know that their clan was indeed doing well with Leafbare just around the corner. She smiled faintly. "That's great to hear. It sounds like it's going to be a good Leafbare." Her words reminded her that she would need to speak to him later about organizing a few cats that the clan could spare for a few days and helping her get her supply filled perfectly for Leafbare, but she would need to do so later. When they had a little more privacy. She sent a glance toward Swiftspirit, flicking an ear at his comment. She was ready to play peacemaker if need be. But it seemed that her first attempt indeed helped because the she-cat seemed to be relaxed all ready.
"I assure you, Falconleap. Swiftspirit would hear nothing of the sort. Herbs are vital to us as well, the last thing I would hear of is a warrior of our clan carelessly trampling another's herbs, just as I hope you will take care to do the same." Her tone was kind and respectful. She was not insinuating that StoneClan walked across the border whenever they pleased, but she hoped that should anything happen that they at least take care of her herbs, just as she would take care of reminding the warriors to do should something ever happen. Cutting of a clan's supply of herbs was low. That was how she saw it. It was one thing attacking a clan, but it was another to take away their ways of healing themselves and taking away their chance of becoming and remaining healthy.
Silentsong dipped her head politely. Of course she understood. Leaf-bare had a tendency to cause a little panic for any clan, and LightningClan was no exception. She had a list of things in her head that she needed to do before the first frost and snowfall and knew if she didn't get them done it could make or break her clan. The biggest concern she had right now was catmint. She needed to find some before winter came because it always tended to be when the worst cases of greencough, blackcough, and kittencough was the most prominent. "There is nothing to apologize for. I understand your and can hardly blame you for it."

Swiftspirit smiled warmly at the she-cat. He couldn't exactly blame her for being suspicious, after all it was leaf-fall and certainly something to be worried about. Besides it seemed that some she-cats reacted in the way she had naturally. They seemed to be more emotional than most toms, not that toms didn't have emotions, it just seemed like she-cats had an overabundance of them.
Swiftspirit blinked as he refocused on the she-cats and saw them calmly exchanging words. He nodded then, at least those small hostilities were over. Maybe his charms could work now on the pretty she-cat. After all she really did seem only concerned for her clan, and since leafbare was on its way...
"So Falconleap, how are things in Stoneclan? Any interesting news?"
It wasn't like he expected her to give away clan secrets and stuff, he just wanted a nice polite conversation, even if it was from across the borders. He glanced quickly at Silentsong, making sure she seemed okay, not wanting to tire her. They still had to go back to camp, and he didn't want her leg to give out on her too far away.

EVERYBODY'S WAITING FOR YOU TO BREAK DOWN
She heard the deputy's word and nearly forgot he was there, not like that was really possible. His presence was constants to say the least. She wasn't going to be outright rude to him but part of her, after her encounter with RainClan's leader Deadstar she almost need the single presence of a she-cat, someone who was like her, not to ratty tom that thought with only one thing in mind, glory for himself and his bloodline. That idea irritated Falconleap and she was pleased to know her brother didn't carry the gene of glory hunting.
However her dislike for that tom across the border from her she settled down again on her rump, ensuring she was seen as a proud and noble deputy. She knew that Swiftspirit was younger and it was Emberstar's way of nurturing the deputy into the life of a leader, it was an old practice and Falconleap didn't care to much it. She wanted to be leader but it wasn't expected, she knew her life was smaller and less meaningful than her leader who carried 9 within her.
"Everything is fine Swiftspirit. Cricketpaw's training is going well." She said kindly, nodding her head in respectful banter, but she felt a little ping of dishonesty. She wasn't really sure if Cricketpaw's training was going all that well. Falconleap had been so busy with other tasks she hadn't once thought about testing the apprentice strike one for Falconleap, slacking in deputy duties. Most cat's would be so hard on themselves but Falconleap was her own worst critic. "How is LightingClan?" She asked politely and with her friendly flick of her tail.
