Tension sung in the air as NightClan's leader moved swiftly and with purpose towards the Warrior's Dens and the cat she'd been tracking down for most of the day. She'd been busy too, what with patrols and training her Apprentice, but now was the time to fill her Deputy in on a few things that had been going on and for that she had to find him. She'd finally caught his scent and moved straight for the tom, determination and relief filling amber eyes as she finally made it to his side. "Briarthroat, come walk with me? I have something I need to discuss with you privately."

She wasn't hunting, for once, she wasn't doing anything for the clan at large, this was just to speak with her Deputy. She needed his input and if they were to truly be able to work together she had to keep him informed. She had big news for him and it affected all of NightClan; which meant it would affect him too. She turned and flicked her tail at Briarthroat in a silent query as to rather or not he was joining her. She wouldn't force him, after all, but she did need her Deputy right now. She had to hope he wasn't busy with his own duties, but they  may just have to wait for what she needed to say.

She knew her stance was tense and she tried to relax a bit while she could. This wasn't life-threatening just yet and it was a beautiful day so she should at least try and enjoy it if she could. She let the warm breeze soothe her as she waited to see if her Deputy would be able to join her like she wanted him to. Calm, Foxstar, she had to remember to breathe. She was just...a tad anxious and also excited for the possibilities that would be brought about if she actually went through with her plans.

"You need a hand to hold."

Briarthroat lifted his head from his paws when he heard his name. The morning had been busy, but successful. He hunted with his apprentice, and worked on some of his skills that needed some polishing. Greenleaf even for the short furred tom was hot though, and with all the work he had done already, he was grateful for the cool air inside the warrior's den. A quick nap was in store for the tom, and he intended to remind whoever was asking for him until he spotted who had woken him up. Foxstar, at a quick glance, looked like something important was on her mind. The deputy immediately got to his paws, previous feelings of being tired evaporating as he watched his leader breath with the gentle breeze. Then he saw her tail flick at him, and his fur flushed warm. He hadn't meant to keep her waiting.



"Of course Foxstar." He said, shaking off the last bits of moss from his pelt. "Lead the way."

Foxstar waited for her Deputy to join her before she started walking. He looked like he'd just woken up and she felt sort of bad for keeping him from his rest, but there was really nothing for it. She tilted her ears back towards him and offered quiet commentary. "Sorry if I woke you Briarthroat, you look like you could use a nap. I'll be quick but I just needed to run something by you before I worry myself sick over it." She went silent until they were quite far away from the main part of camp before she even attempted to open her mouth and say something. Her anxiety over what she was thinking about was obvious but she had to keep moving forward in what she was doing.

She went quiet for a long moment before finally, once she felt she was far enough away for privacy, she opened up with the strongest thing on her mind. "You'll remember some time ago I disappeared for a few hours after a patrol. Well I was doing something that could have a huge impact on NightClan and I needed your input on it." She took a deep breath, then dived in head first. "I spoke to Firestar that day about forming an alliance between our clans." She fell silent then, pausing to watch her Deputy's expression and see how he took what she'd told him.

Briarthroat gave Foxstar a smile, going to respond but a yawn broke through first. "Sorry," He apologized, but flicked his tail against her side as a comforting gesture. "It has been a busy day but I will always carve out time for you." He kept pace with her quick steps, enjoying the quiet of the forest while trying to determine what sort of assistance Foxstar needed for them to travel this far out of camp to discuss.



He nodded as she began speaking, sitting with an open expression on his face. An alliance? His ears twitched in surprise, eyes moving from Foxstar's face to glance out into the trees. Briarthroat hummed thoughtfully, letting her know that he was thinking, to calm any new anxieties that threatened to bubble up from his silence. He thought on what alliances had been in the clan's past, what Nightclan had gone through with losing Pinewhisker so quickly, what Nightclan needed after the leaf-bare sicknesses took many cats away. "I think an alliance is a smart step forward," He started, returning his gaze to Foxstar. "Why Lightningclan though? We do not share a border with them, which I can see the benefits of, but I want to hear your perspective." Everything said was in Briarthroat's well-known soft tone, yet a hint of pleasure could be heard as an undertone. He was excited for Nightclan to prosper again, and was ready to support that rise.

Something tight in Foxstar's chest eased with the acceptance of what she'd done. Her eyes darkened a moment later though when he asked why. Her tail flicked back and forth for a moment and her expression was angry for a moment before she forced herself to calm. "That's why I thought it would be a good idea. The fire a few seasons ago hit them really hard and then leafbare was difficult and they had little food. So they needed hunting territory." She paused and knew confusion was going to follow so she kept speaking. "I want to take Deer Path back from TreeClan and cause some chaos for Lionstar to deal with. So an alliance between us and LightningClan let's them attack from one direction to steal a piece of territory while letting us take back the territory Lionstar stole when he nearly killed Pinest-Pinewhisker." 

Her voice was fierce and determined and her eyes blazed with her resolve to do this dangerous thing. It was an insane reason to ally with another clan - considering her view on outsiders - but it was something that needed to happen to remind everyone why NightClan was still a force to be reckoned with. It would finally give her an outlet for her helpless rage towards TreeClan and Lionstar in particular. He needed to be brought down a peg or two in her opinion; if only to make him pay for what he'd done to her clan. He would pay, definitely, it was only a matter of how and when.

He nodded at her explanations. Attacking from both sides could be risky, but that was a risk each clan was willing to take. The deputy thought about the plan as Foxstar laid it out. He mentally picked the cats he thought would be best for their attack, voicing an idea. "It is a long stretch of border, we can send several parties across it to thin Treeclan's forces even more."

Briefly, Briarthroat caught Foxstar's anger at Lionstar and he felt his heart clench. He felt it too. However, he wasn't sure where the feeling Foxstar felt stemmed from, and knew it was his duty as deputy to understand fully where his leader was coming from. They needed to be a team here. "Where are you hoping Lionstar will be?" Briarthroat tilted his head, eyes gazing towards the den wall with a deep thought. "I understand your anger towards Treeclan's leader, but let us send the strongest and hit him without losing lives. Yours included."
