It was a nice day. The sun was out, and while there was a nip in the air, the warmth in the tunnels was more than enough to suffice. Light dappled over the ground, shadows of grass playing around the mouths of the tunnels- too many warriors around to risk sneaking out, and Lynxkit was quite bored with being confined to the safety of the camp.
Whirling around, the young kit dashed across the path of a warrior as he made his way toward the medicine cats’ den, ignoring the irritated flick of his tail, and skidded to a halt outside the nursery, green eyes narrowing as she picked out her brother’s form- tucked away in their nest, as usual.
Leaning her weight back on her hind legs, Lynxkit hurled herself toward the young tom, landing clumsily and sprawling over on her back; kicking her legs, she twisted herself over and found her feet again. “I’m going to get you!” she swore to her brother, and leaped again, promptly crashing face-first into the outer lining of the nest. Russetfall’s scent was strong, but the tom himself wasn’t present. Their mother’s scent was far fainter, barely clinging to the grasses, freshened by the leader’s visits and by Russetfall himself, the tom’s fur often carrying traces of the she-cat’s smell.
“Come on, Tigerkit!” Lynxkit shrilled, mindless to the pitch of her tone as she gracelessly slithered into the nest and batted a paw at her brother. “I’m so bored- you have to come out and play with me!” @zen

Can you hear my heartbeat? Tired of feeling never enough...
Tigerkit was enjoying a nice nap in the safety of the nursery and having a pleasant dream. He felt brave in this dream. Well, maybe that wasn't the right word. No. He didn't really feel brave, he didn't want to go face any dangers, that was for sure. He felt... he felt safe. He felt as though someone was there, watching over him, keeping all the things that scared him away as he padded through tall grasses bright with sunshine. He couldn't see much, the grass was far too tall, but for some reason he knew he was all right, that he was safe, that nothing would hurt him. He paused as a scent wreathed around him, vaguely familiar, yet he couldn't place it. A soft purr sounded in his ear, welcoming, reassuring-
“I’m going to get you!”
His head shot up at the declaration, his fur on end, his dream forgotten completely as he squeaked in alarm. He looked about wildly, claws extended and clinging to the moss beneath him as he flattened himself in his nest, prepared for the camp to be under siege by those scary NightClan cats he had heard about, big and dark and mean. Instead his sister crashed into the nest and started batting at him.
He shrunk lower into the nest, if that was even possible, as she demanded that he go outside and play with her. He shook his head, “No, the last time I went out there I made Firebird hurt her hips and had to bother Kindleflare! I'm staying here.” He peered over at her, feeling a bit guilty for telling her no. It wasn't that he didn't want to play with her, after all, he just didn't want to go outside.
“Uhm... we could... we could play in here, though?” he offered, sitting up a bit, hesitant, and looking around. He was pretty sure there was a moss ball around here somewhere.
I close my eyes and tell myself that my dreams will come true. Taxx Hellion (if you wanna throw in Firestar for family interaction+high rank check) Justice (if you wanna throw in Russet before he dies 8'D, don't feel obligated though~)

She hardly registered Tigerkit's fright, far too busy trying to wiggle her way over to her brother without getting to her paws, one soft front foot reaching out to swipe harmlessly at the tom's pink nose. His response, while not favorable, was quite expected, and Lynxkit's answer was vehement. "No, Tigerkit! You always hide in here. You need to come out and keep me company."
Rolling to her belly, Lynxkit stretched her legs, all four of them, out. "I'll drag you," she threatened, somewhat playfully but also with a firm tone that made it clear she was serious. "You can't hide away in here forever. What are you gonna do when you're an apprentice?" Her tone brightened, for a moment her thoughts leaping ahead to the day when she would be able to leave the camp and start learning everything she'd need to know to be a warrior.
"Well?" she asked, rising to her paws and leaning forward a bit to loom as much as possible over Tigerkit- which, considering he was nearly flat on the ground, was more than she'd expected. To increase the looming, she went up on her toes, stretching herself as high as possible, her muscles quivering with the effort. Then, with a quick glance around, she lowered her voice to the quietest she could manage, which wasn't all that quiet but she tried, and switched by threat to a single word she hoped would do the trick. "Please?" @zen

the moments when you're in so deep FEELS EASIER TO JUST SWIM DOWN Three moons spent cooing over them was all the time Firestar allowed herself before she went back to leading their Clan. She didn't intend to seem neglectful. She had taken great care to ensure they would be able to handle soild foods, that they knew she loved them and it was just her duties calling to her. She prayed they understood and with that she carreid on.
She pushed herself to get back into shape. Her life lost to their birthing had taken its toll, she felt stiffer, older. As if the life she lost had added moons to her bones. Not that she had room to complain, Russetfall was worse off. The past seasons had been difficult for the pair both emotionally and physically. Firestar dreaded the day that was surely coming over the horizon.
Deciding to lead the dawn patrol, Firestar returned promptly to see Lynxkit dart back into the nursey, likely after her brother. Curious about her youngest daughter, Firestar headed for the duo, dipping her head to peak at the nest they stilled shared.
Catching the tail end of their conversation Firestar cleared her throat to alert them to her arrival.
"Join your sister Tigerkit, you are only in the nursery for a few more moons. You should enjoy the freedom of not having chores, play as much as you can," She told him before tilting her head down to nudge at Lynxkit, silent praise to her daughter for being adventurous.

Can you hear my heartbeat? Tired of feeling never enough...
Tigerkit's ears flattened as his sister demanded that he come out and play with her despite his protests. He let out a soft squeak when she threatened to drag him out. He knew it was more than a threat. She'd done it before, though only the once, because he had no desire to be dragged anywhere, so whenever she threatened to do so after, he didn't try to call her bluff.
He dug his claws into the moss, shaking his head, “I don't even wanna think about being an apprentice! That's moons away anyway!” He'd watched some of the apprentices practicing battle moves in camp on a number of occasions and he wanted no part in it. He didn't want to be a warrior. Warriors fought scary things... foxes and badgers and enemy Clans. But he also couldn't say that. He could only imagine the look of disappointment on every cat's face, even Russetfall's, if he ever admitted that truth. And even scarier than foxes and badgers and enemy Clans was the idea of disappointing his family.
Firestar appeared then, eliciting another squeak of surprise from Tigerkit as he shot to his paws. His mother told him to go out and play too, and his ears flicked back again as he watched her nudge Lynxkit affectionately. Lynxkit was better than he was. She was stronger and braver. She was like Firestar. He was like... nobody. He seemed to deflate a bit, and sighed, agreeing obediently, “Yes momma....” For one thing, a kit shouldn't tell their mother 'no'. For another, no cat should tell their leader 'no'. And Firestar was both. He could argue with his sister, but would never dream of it with Firestar.
So he slunk over to his sister's side, pressing against her as if hoping some of her bravery might rub off on him and avoiding his mother's eyes, “C-c'mon Lynxkit... what... what should we do?” As hard as he tried he couldn't sound very enthusiastic about venturing out into camp. But at least he wouldn't be alone. It wasn't quite as bad if his sister was there with him.

How could he not want to be an apprentice? The desire was so strong in Lynxkit’s mind that she simply couldn’t comprehend her brother’s dread. “Only a few moons,” she replied, lowering herself onto her pads again and curling her short tail upwards. “We’ll go together- I’ll look out for you…”
A shadow and a voice cut her off and Lynxkit glanced over her shoulder at their mother. Firestar’s words backed up Lynxkit, and a surge of irritation pricked at the young she-cat. Great. Ordering Tigerkit about, now he’d feel like he had to (not that she’d been giving him a choice in the matter.) She’d have coaxed him out in the end; she hadn’t needed Firestar to butt in.
But it worked, sort of. Tigerkit heaved a sigh and obeyed, dragging himself over like he was being ordered to go find a fox or badger. Gaze fixed on him, Lynxkit was caught off guard by the nudge on her flank, her gaze flicking back to her mother and taking in the pride in her expression. Warmth for the praise briefly stirred, but Lynxkit made no attempt to accept it, instead side-stepping away from the she-cat and sniffing before giving her brother a comforting, bolstering lick between his ears.
“We can play hide-and-seek,” she offered. At least now that she’d got him out, she could compromise on the game they’d play. With the other kits, she enjoyed chase and tag games, often getting quite rough in catching the runner, but Tigerkit wouldn’t enjoy those. “You can go first, okay? I’ll wait- right here,” she assured, plopping her bottom down just outside the nursery, completely ignoring Firestar as she passed by the leader, “and you go hide. Okay?”
