Name: Flamekit / Flamepaw / Flamelight
Age: 6 moons
Gender: tom
Clan: TreeClan
Rank: Apprentice
Picture: kit/apprentice / adult
Description: Flamepaw is currently fluffy, having never really lost his kit pelt. He will, though, as he matures into adulthood, become a much leaner, short-haired cat with sturdy shoulders and a stocky frame. His eyes, as a kit, were a murky blue colour; however this will also change as he grows older, to a deep amber brown. He has a lot of growing to do. He has a long tail, that while he's an apprentice will seem out of place for how short the rest of him is, but will eventually all be in proportion once he develops the frame (and the muscles contained therein) of an older apprentice and a warrior. He is light on his paws, movements deft and certain.
Description Summary: sturdy, stocky ginger and white tom-cat with brown eyes.
Personality: Flamepaw, suffering the same effects as his brother, Pantherpaw, has been thrust into a Clan that is his by nature, but not by nurture. This leads to an almost painfully shy demeanour mostly, but there are occasional outbursts of him being certain of himself and the world around him. He knows what he wants - to go home - but is no longer sure whether that home is with Echoshade, Dewpaw and Fernpaw (Dewkit and Fernkit, as he knew them), or in TreeClan, where he currently is apprenticed to Appleshade. He's torn between his loyalty to the clan he was raised in and the clan he was born in. This will play a big part later (yay, future plots!). He's kind, helpful and conscientious, sticking close to his brother and Magpiewing until he finds his own paws and starts making friends properly. He keeps his metaphorical cards close to his chest - unwilling to show emotion, knowing how negative emotions can be and the effect that they can have on others.
Unlike his brother, Pantherpaw, he's keen to make friends outside the immediate circle of his brother and Magpiewing.
History: Flamepaw was born to the TreeClan warrior Nightshade and Meadowleaf, the former TreeClan deputy who had made the unenviable choice of choosing family over ambition - she stepped down as deputy in order to have a family. When greencough struck the Clans, Nightshade and Meadowleaf both succumbed to it - illness had sapped Meadowleaf to the point where her kitting took what was left of her energy away from her, and she died as the two kits had barely even been born. She didn't even get the chance to name the two kits before she left to join StarClan. That task was appointed to the TreeClan medicine cat, who named the two kits according to their colourings.
Due to a lack of nursing queens in the TreeClan nursery, Lionstar sent his cats on a desperate mission to each of the other clans, attempting to find them a queen who could nurse the two orphaned kits, before they would die slowly and painfully from starvation. Echoshade, the RainClan queen, who had Dewkit and Fernkit, two very young kits of her own, had plenty of milk to spare, and therefore agreed to take on Flamekit and Pantherkit. The two kits were not left completely on their own, however, as the warrior Magpiewing remained in RainClan with them, to ensure they were properly looked after by their new 'mother'.
Flamekit and Pantherkit, raised alongside Fernkit and Dewkit, very quickly forged that bond that only siblings share, and in that regard saw Echoshade as their mother. Magpiewing, Flamekit thought, looked incredibly like his brother, Pantherkit, and therefore, it was assumed by the both of them that Magpiewing was their father.
They very quickly took on RainClan scent, the telltale signs of TreeClan scent quickly fading.
However, when the truth emerged, when TreeClan cats were sent to bring Magpiewing and the two kits home, Flamekit was thrust into confusion and despair. Everything he had ever known had come crashing down around him. Magpiewing wasn't his father, Echoshade not his mother... And Fernkit and Dewkit? Nothing more than denmates.
He had nobody except Pantherkit. Or so it felt, as he was whisked away from the heartbroken Echoshade, Dewkit and Fernkit, taken back to the Clan where he was an orphan. He never knew what happened to his birthgiver (he refuses to call Meadowleaf his mother) and 'father' (used in the loosest sense of the word), and he doesn't want to know; as far as Flamepaw is concerned, he knows only Echoshade as his mother.
Several failed escape attempts followed, both Pantherkit and Flamekit desperate to make their way back to RainClan - back home. Eventually Flamekit realised that while they were still kits, it would be hopeless, there was no way these strange TreeClanners would ever let him return to what he felt was his true Clan.
Now he's been apprenticed at the age of 6 moons and has started to be fully indoctrinated into TreeClan life, he's unsure. He misses Echoshade, Dewkit and Fernkit, but knows well enough that he could see them if he truly wanted to. He's unsure now, where his home is, and what StarClan has in store for him.
