Hawkstar may your dreams be larger than mountains The sand colored tabby tom stepped down from the Rock Pile with renewed grace. It had been a while since he'd been able to move as fluidly as he was now. The distinct line crossing the tom's chest and neck had finally begun to settle, the strange part in his fur the last lingering sign of his injury during the Greenleaf battle for the Sun Stones. Much of his stiffness had receded, the skin more capable of taking the stress associated with movement of his forelegs. Pale amber eyes surveyed the camp, catching sight of a familiar cream and white pelt headed toward the apprentice's den.
Hawkstar's ears flicked upward thoughtfully, and he called his daughter's name across the camp. "Herondive!" Mild amusement flickered through his gaze as she jumped slightly, staggering as she turned to face him curiously. He couldn't help but think she resembled a kit who'd just been caught doing something they shouldn't have. What in the name of StarClan goes through her mind these days. He wondered affectionately as he strode forward to help close the distance between them. She cleared her throat, as she crossed the final distance, her tail tip twitching uncertainly. "Dad..?" She inquired.
Smiling at her, he touched his nose to her forehead, happy to feel her reciprocate with a soft nudge to his shoulder. "You were headed to the apprentice's den. Taking Meadowpaw out for some training?" When she nodded her head in affirmation of his question, he continued. "Mistpetal has been busy as of late. Would you mind taking Kestrelpaw with you? Bring another warrior if you'd like." He paused a moment, blinking thoughtfully. "Why not Silverglade? I'm sure she'd appreciate some time outside of camp." Herondive looked uncertain for the briefest of moment, but dipped her head in acknowledgement nonetheless.
"Sure, I'll uh... Grab them all now." With a rumbled purr of gratitude, the StoneClan figurehead flicked his daughter's shoulder with his tail and watched as she continued padding in the direction of the apprentice's den. leader of stoneclan and may you have the courage to scale their summits background image | harley king | @tag | table by phoenix
Note: 90 moonsHERONDIVE The StoneClan warrioress' heart still hammered against her ribcage as she willed herself to walk a normal pace to the apprentice's den. She'd been wrapped up in thoughts of Falconstorm, so relieved to have finally seen him two nights ago, she'd nearly had a heart attack when her father had suddenly called her name. She'd been briefly convinced he'd been able to hear her thoughts, and sought to punish her for them. Which... Was ridiculous the more she thought about it. Taking a deep breath to steady her frantic heart, Herondive ducked her head through the entrance to the den she'd once occupied.
With a slight clearing of her throat, she called into the dim light softly. "Meadowpaw? Time for some training. Kestrelpaw, you're.. Coming with us for today. Meet me uh... At the camp entrance, I'll be right there." Waiting to hear a sound of acknowledgement from either apprentice, the warrioress backed out of the den and shifted course for the warrior's den. She had no idea where Silverglade might be, but the warrior's den seemed a logical place to start. With another steadying breath, the still-learning mentor stepped slightly into the den, blue eyes searching the surroundings for any sight of the warrioress in question.
"Uh... Silverglade? Are you in here?" She whispered, not wanting to wake anyone who might be asleep after the Dawn Patrol. "I'm taking Kestrelpaw out today for Mistpetal and... Hawkstar suggested you as company." It felt like such an awkward thing to say. She felt terrible about it it, but Herondive didn't know a whole lot about Silverglade, other than she was Sandpaw’s mother, and not too far from her own age. Guess I've... Been a bit distracted from Clan life... She thought to herself. warrior of stoneclan Silver Fawn @kahani | background image | table by phoenix Note: 30 moons

Kestrelpaw 9 Moons - Tom - StoneClan At first, having StoneClan's deputy for a mentor had been an exciting, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Kestrelpaw had tackled his training with a zealousness that didn't surprise his father at all - Eagletalon always believed in his kits' abilities to do well - though sometimes his overeagerness resulted in mistakes. Still, he had tried hard, and had been rewarded with...
Mornings like these. Mistpetal hadn't called him for the Dawn Patrol, despite being her apprentice. Instead, Kestrelpaw had been left to grumble and sulk in his own nest, his nose buried into the moss to muffle some of her complaints. What's the point of being mentored by the deputy if she never has any time for me? The sandy-coated tom flopped onto his side, trying not to fidget excessively and wake up Meadowpaw. I should ask Dad for some more training. I bet he can teach me to fight and hunt properly.
In the midst of these sulky thoughts, a familiar voice - as welcome to Kestrelpaw's ears as his sister's - caught his attention.
"Meadowpaw? Time for some training. Kestrelpaw, you're.. Coming with us for today."
Kestrelpaw sat upright so abruptly he accidentally kicked another sleeping apprentice with one of his long, awkward limbs. Murmuring a hasty "sorry!" as he got out of his bedding, Kestrelpaw shook out his pelt, barely pausing long enough to wipe a paw (not even damp) over his face for a half-hearted attempt at cleanliness. Mistpetal hasn't forgotten me after all! Were they training together like he wanted? Well no, but at least he got to go out with Meadowpaw and Herondive. Maybe she'd join them later?
With an eager smile at his sister, Kestrelpaw didn't wait for her before darting out of the apprentices' den. Uh oh, where did Herondive say to meet her again? The fresh kill pile? No, the rock pile... Uh. Dark beige ears twitched left, then right, then back to center, indecision putting a slight droop to his whiskers. Sheepishly, Kestrelpaw looked for Meadowpaw. She usually knew where she was going. I'll just follow her. Laugh at yourself first, before anyone else can. 339 Words || BlooRey DVD @kahani Silver || Notes

Meadowpaw 9 Moons - She-Cat - StoneClanMeadowpaw had been asleep, content to allow the world to pass by as peacefully as she had done when she was with her mother and father in the nursery. The familiar voice of her mentor Herondive cut through the apprentice's dreams and her bright golden eyes opened enough to see her brother rushing out of the apprentice's den with the speed of a angry bee swarm. After Kestrelpaw had gotten stung that one time she had pestered her aunt Dawnblossom into telling her what exactly bees were. Sighing inwardly to herself as she rose from her nest, Meadowpaw gave herself a quick lick and then followed after her brother but at a much more leisurely pace and smiled openly when his eyes met hers, as if he was searching for her, always in such a hurry he forgets the most important part of life, is to sometimes stop and listen.
Meadowpaw's eyes involuntarily searched out the very familiar shape of her father, eager to tell " Daddy" about one of her first lessons to being a warrior but instead she was met with the almost as welcome sight of her brother and she almost smirked. Lost again?
" Come on Kestrelpaw, she said the camp entrance and I think it's this way " Meadowpaw called out to her sibling as she made her way towards the area she thought her mentor might be. Excited and nervous at the same time, she didn't know what to expect.

Warrior of StoneClan Silverglade was taking the time to relax when she heard a familiar voice calling for her. She didn't know Herondive well, but she was familiar with who the she-cat was. They were of similar age and she was Hawkstar's daughter; though those facts were all she knew about the other Warrior. She stretched and rose to her feet with an easy sort of grace learned from moons of practice before moving forward towards the other she-cat. "Hello Herondive."
She nodded slowly at what Hawkstar had suggested for her and snorted lowly to herself. She supposed he was being considerate of her, but she sort of didn't like finding out this way. She shrugged to herself, letting the matter go and nodding towards Herondive. "I'll accompany you, yes. Training the Apprentices will be much easier with two of us, don't you think?" Besides, she wanted to see how Warrior training normally went inside a clan. She'd seen Sandpaw, of course, but a Medicine Cat Apprentice was very different from a Warrior Apprentice.

HERONDIVE She offered the other she-cat her best version of a friendly smile, tail tip curling slightly at the tip as she backed out to clear the way for Silverglade. With one ear pricked towards the silver she-cat's words, the StoneClan warrioress respectfully waited for Silverglade to fall into step with her before correcting her path toward the camp's entrance. "Uh... Yes, I think it will be. To be honest... I don't really know what I'm doing when it comes to training Meadowpaw." Her ear flicked nervously, the cream and white she-cat was forced to stop herself from gritting her teeth worriedly.
"But... I think we're both um... Learning from it? And... Maybe that's all that really matters? No body's perfect, yet if we never stop learning then... Then I think that's the next best thing. Or at least that's what... What my da- Er... Hawkstar always told us." Suddenly feeling awkward about bringing up the Clan leader in such a casual manner, Herondive cleared her throat and glanced towards the camp entrance. Her bright blue eyes landed upon Meadowpaw leading her brother Kestrelpaw toward the entrance, and she couldn't help but think back upon her own apprenticeship alongside her brother.
A pang of longing struck her heart; she missed those relatively carefree days, when she truly believed she could be StoneClan's best warrior. And now, she found herself at a cross-path. She couldn't pick between being true to herself and true to her Clan. What kind of warrior did that make her? Gritting her teeth, she pushed the thought to the back of her mind, straightening her posture in an effort to look a little more... Deserving of her mentorship status. Blue eyes glanced between the sibling pair before she spoke up. "Silverglade is... Going to be joining us today."
Hesitating momentarily, she tried to think of something her father or Eagletalon might ask. Hawkstar and Eagletalon always seemed to know how to encourage others to think; for a while, Eagletalon had truly made her feel like she could be the greatest warrior in all the valley. She thought that if she could pass on even a fraction of that feeling to her apprentice... Then maybe Herondive wasn't such a lost cause after all. "We're headed to the.. The Barren Scrublands. Kestrelpaw 9 Moons - Tom - StoneClan "Hi Silverglade!" Kestrelpaw greeted her with a waving tail and upbeat mew. She wasn't his real mentor, but he wasn't going to get upset over that. He just wanted to learn things, and he was willing to bet tonight's prey that Silverglade knew enough to teach him at least the basics.
"What can you two tell us about the barren scrublands?"
Ah! I didn't know we'd have to answer questions! Mistpetal didn't ask him questions all that often, apart from 'are you okay' when he stumbled or tripped over his own legs. Kestrelpaw's expression betrayed his sudden panic. "U-Uh," think Kestrelpaw think! What could he say about the scrublands. "It's a good place to hunt." It was a blurted answer with no thought behind it, but it was the best Kestrelpaw could do.
Even if they gave him twenty minutes to come up with something, the suddenness of it and his easily distracted nature meant the answer would probably be the same either way. Kestrelpaw burned, embarrassment prickling the skin beneath his fur like a harsh sunburn. I hope they don't think I'm dumb... I'm not as smart as Meadowpaw, it's true, but I'm not stupid either.
Right?
Kestrelpaw's tongue combed the beige fur on his chest to self-soothe his anxieties, but the split-second he took his eyes off the ground in front had him stumble over a sharp rock. Righting himself before disaster could ensue, Kestrelpaw forced a laugh. "I think I'm still asleep!" If the others could chuckle or at least find his clumsiness funny, then maybe he wouldn't feel so bad about it. Meadowpaw 9 Moons - She-Cat - StoneClanMeadowpaw was a little taken aback when her mentor asked the sibling duo if they knew anything about the barren scrublands and resisted the urge to comment on the obvious fact that they were likely 'barren' as the name sudgested but instead her brother interjected about them being a good place for hunting and the calico apprentice visably brightening in anticipation.
"Are we going to be hunting today Herondive? Daddy says you were very good at that, I hope you can teach me to be as great as you are" she blurted out in her excitement, smiling brightly at the cream and white warrioress as she practically bounced around her brother, Kestrelpaw was smart and she gave him a reassuring swat on the nose with her paw. " You are so smart Kestrelstar" she joked, referring to their kithood adventures of Kestrelstar and Meadowflight, the unstoppable sibling rulers of Stoneclan.

Silverglade listened intently to the antics of the pair of siblings before her. She was also listening to the way Herondive was going about this entire thing. The query about the area was odd to her if they were supposed to be teaching hunting skills, but it did serve a purpose of making the Apprentices think at least. She moved up next to Kestrelpaw as he began to doubt himself and purred at him in reassurance, thumping him gently with her tail against his side even as she spoke in her calm and quiet way. "That's actually a decent answer to the question Kestrelpaw. This place, to those that don't bother to really look, seems like one that wouldn't be any good for finding prey. But to those willing to really look and listen, this area is a great place for hunting in the territory." She noted that the young tom seemed to learn at a slower rate from his sister, but that was fine. He just needed a bit of patience and he'd thrive and blossom into a fine Warrior. Blue eyes surveyed her companions thoughtfully for a long moment before deciding what the next thing she needed to do was. "If you don't mind, Herondive, I'd like to see what Kestrelpaw and Meadowpaw already know about hunting. We can't teach them correctly if we don't know what they've figured out on their own, after all. If neither of you have tried hunting yet, that's fine too, but say so. It lets us work on things you have trouble with and not waste time on those things you already know how to do well enough." She hoped that Herondive wasn't bothered by her suggestion, but they did need to get things going. She needed to speak with Hawkstar after this, so she didn't intend to spend the entire day speaking around the subject that was better learned by doing. -- Tags | BlooRey DVD Fawn @kahani

HERONDIVE The cream and white she-cat’s fur warmed slightly at Meadowpaw’s comment. Did Eagletalon really tell his kits about her? Oh StarClan, what if you don’t live up to their expectations? She thought suddenly, smiling uncertainly at her apprentice. “I… Will definitely do my best, Meadowpaw.” She replied, conscious not to allow herself to mumble in her embarrassment. Kestrelpaw’s interjection interrupted any further thought she might have had on the subject, blue eyes blinking in mild surprise at the force of Kestrelpaw’s exclamation. It had certainly not been the response she’d expected, and yet.. He’s… Technically not wrong. She thought to herself.
Before she could say anything, Silverglade spoke up, pushing Herondive into silence. A creamy ear tip twitched atop her head, eyes flicking to her paws momentarily. How was it that, despite being born and raised in StoneClan her whole life, she still felt inadequate next to Silverglade. She had just wanted to ask a question, make sure the two apprentices were awake before they started on something physical. Forcing a smile, Herondive dipped her head in acknowledgement. “Uh.. Yeah, of course Silverglade.” With an uncertain twitch of her tail, Herondive glanced back to the two apprentices.
“Let’s start moving toward the Barren Scrublands. While… While we walk, why don’t you give us some... Insight on your skills? Meadowpaw, I know where you’re at but… I don’t know what your training has been like, Kestrelpaw. Are there… Any lessons you’ve done or… Anything you want to learn?” Her pace was easy enough to follow, picking her way along terrain that had grown long familiar to her. Offering what she hoped to be a reassuring smile, she added to her comment.
“We… Will do our best to teach you what we know. Just… Just remember that everyone is good at something, but no one is good at everything. We’ll… We’ll find what you’re good at. Promise."

Kestrelpaw 9 Moons - Tom - StoneClan Even his sister teased a little bit, and Kestrelpaw took it with a sheepish grin. As long as Meadowpaw doesn't think I'm stupid... As long as he had his littermate's support, he could get through this. The sandy tom's ears shot forward, eyes widening as Silverglade took his answer and actually turned it into a good one.
"Y-You mean I'm right?" Kestrelpaw purred at the older she-cat, relief making his paws feel jittery, as if he could run for miles. This elation was short-lived, however, as Silverglade and Herondive brought the conversation around to what they knew how to do. Kestrelpaw dug through his recent memories, scrambling for something he could say he knew without a sliver of doubt.
"I caught a lizard once." Just once. By accident. "And I know my way around the territory pretty good." When he wasn't tripping over it. Or his own feet. "I want to get better at hunting," he mewed, feeling very small next to these accomplished warriors. They'd find out how bad he was at it soon enough.
What about Meadowpaw? I bet she's incredible at it already. Any envy the youngster felt for his sibling was quickly drowned out by awe and pride. She was always better at most things. Laugh at yourself first, before anyone else can. 212 Words || BlooRey DVD @kahani Silver || Notes

Meadowpaw 9 Moons - She-Cat - StoneClanThe topic soon shifted from hunting plans to what the young calico and her sibling actually knew about being a warrior and Meadowpaw immediately went red under her pelt, turning the white of her chest a faint pink hue as she searched her brain for an answer. " Well I caught a mouse once, though Daddy had to show me where it was and I used to practice fighting with Sootpaw, she was a alright sparring partner" Meadowpaw explained her previous experiences, unlike her brother she was not observant, and her strengths lay in quick thinking and luck. Not to say that Meadowpaw wasn't intelligent or that Kestrelpaw did not have an uncommon affinity for luck, the siblings were very similar and close, that was the way Meadowpaw liked it.
Noone would ever get between her and her brother, involuntarly the calico's eyes narrowed at Sootpaw's faint scent attached tp her brother's pelt and she shifted uncomfortably in her spot. " Should we get going? I don't want to be interrupted on my first hunting lesson" She hissed, not really intending to be rude to her mentor or Silverglade, but she did not feel like Sootpaw tagging along like she used when the three were kits together.

Warrior of StoneClan Pale blue eyes narrowed slightly at the tense undertones she was beginning to pick up in the two she-cats near her. Herondive sounded...unsure of herself a more than a bit put-upon and Silverglade wondered if it was because she was there. If it was, she really didn't care, and Herondive could certainly get over it because she had been asked to help. If it interfered with the lesson, well then she'd do something about it.
She wondered if it was that she made the other she-cat uncomfortable for some reason; like maybe Herondive was shy. If that was the case, Silverglade felt she could offer the other she-cat the benefit of the doubt and all the patience she could give her. Either way, it was something she was going to watch. As for Meadowpaw, her sudden desire to move away from the camp told Silverglade something was definitely up. The scent of another that wasn't any of his family on Kestrelpaw said that maybe the cat attached to that scent made Meadowpaw jealous.
It made her glad the younger she-cat wasn't her responsibility. Kestrelpaw though; could do with more encouragement as far as she was concerned. She returned his elated purr with a reassuring purr of her own before moving forward with the rest towards their destination. "It's good to have a few experiences; be they purposeful hunting or a happy accident. I caught my first prey by calling out of a tree into the leaf litter a mouse was hiding in and killed it with my weight. It was embarrassing, but it was still my first kill. You can only get better with practice." She kept her gait easy and confident, hoping to calm whatever illease had gotten a hold of Herondive. It wouldn't do to alienate her clanmates, after all.
