The most reason season had been both exciting and tiresome for the russet she-cat. After attempting to talk with her brother and realizing her chosen nesting spot was not safe, she ventured back to the only place she knew. The mountains had been her home and provided her a sense of belonging and comfort, but they also held tight to strong terrible memories. She found little safety and moved around a lot. At first she was alone, rarely scenting another cat. She did however learn the border markings for two clans, one who lived at the base of the mountain and the other who lived along the river. Amara was not keen on getting to know her neighbours and kept herself a safe distances from their borders. The season continued on and trouble loomed over the she-cat's head. A band of cats who once served under her mother found the she-cat alone. They spared no thought and quickly attacked Amara, but they must have forgotten how ruthless she could be. With claws outstretched and teeth eager to bite, Amara defeated two of her attackers and sent the third running away for help. It was then Amara deemed those mountains unsafe for anyone of Shatani's bloodline. She recalled her brother's life and was again curious about it, wondering if his life was better than her current one. Could the companionship provided by the Clan be what she was missing? Amara wasn't comfortable yet with the idea of joining a Clan, but she did want to see her brother again. Her paws directed her carefully along the borders of the Clans. It took some time for she often wandered from her path and found small bits of happiness. She even met a tribe cat, one who had given his only surviving kit a life in the Clans before departing back to the tribe. Amara understood his struggle because it was still alive within her. She wanted deep down to get to know her brother again, but it wasn't as easy as it sounded. There were new rules keeping them apart and old hurts making it more difficult. Finally over the course of the newleaf, Amara had again found herself near the edge of the TreeClan territory. In the same place where she met their leader, Lionstar. She was half tempted to ventured into the territory and walk until another Clan cat found her, but the scents that clung to her pelt would not do her any good. Instead she tried the safer route, picking herself a place to sit and wait for any sign of any TreeClan cat. Fawn

46 Moons | TreeClan | She-Cat | Warrior
Islands, diamonds, trips around the world,
Greenleaf was her favorite season. Newleaf was beautiful, make no mistake—and there were few things she loved more than watching the petals fall from the trees like soft, slow rain—but the warmth of Greenleaf was a wonderful gift from StarClan.
Appleshade's lustrous silver-sorrel coat gleamed through dappled patches of sunlight, the she-cat warrioress taking the time to streeeetch to her heart's content. Some accused her of laziness, and in a way, they were right; Appleshade preferred to think of it as... getting her beauty rest. It was true. A typical warrior, even with all the grooming time in the valley couldn't manage a beauty regiment quite as thorough as Appleshade's.
She prided herself on her elegant appearance, and even more than this, on her social graces and open, inviting flirtatious nature. That said, it was no wonder that when a dark ginger feline in the distance caught her eye across the sparkling brook, she announced her presence with a purring mrrow. "Good morning," she called, her voice like sun-warmed silk. "I haven't seen you before! I am Appleshade. What shall I call you?"
In the back of her mind, she heard her brother's nagging voice: make sure the outsider doesn't cross our border, and the she-cat paid it a modicum of attention. Her interests lied in alleviating her own boredom—and if she could do that by making a friend, then even better. Appleshade had grown... tired of her usual social circles. Gatherings weren't frequent enough to really work up the kind of connections she wanted; a loner out of the blue, though? It wasn't much, admittedly, but it was different. A novelty. And Appleshade wasn't going to let that opportunity slip her by.

She didn't think it was going to take as long as it had. In the meantime while she waited, the russet she-cat groomed her pelt. It wasn't her most favorite of task but he was relaxing, providing the loner some sense of security in knowing she looked half decent. Her tongue lapped over the scars that sunk deep into her skin. Amara did her best to ignore them and instead attempted to groom her fur to lay over them. It was a vain task that didn't really work out but she didn't give up. It wasn't until a rustle in the forest did her attention return to the TreeClan territory. Her eyes focused onto a she-cat. She tried to hide the disappointment on her face, she would have preferred to see Zuma or even Lionstar. Still she remained polite by quickly giving a small but gentle smile. "Good Morning," She replied back becoming more familiar with the slight differences in those that carried the TreeClan scent. Zuma's reminded her of home, Lionstar had a hint of something grander, the she-cat before her smelled sweet. Amara's ear twitched as a new name was added to her gradually growing list of TreeClan cats. "My name is Amara," She answered promptly. "I was actually here waiting to talk to someone, do you know a cat named Zuma, I mean Zephyrfang?" She asked Appleshade moving just a few steps closer, but still a careful distances from the border. 46 Moons | TreeClan | She-Cat | Warrior
Islands, diamonds, trips around the world,
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Amara. And I believe I do know the cat you're talking about." Zephyrfang was arguably one of the most handsome cats in the Clan, and had he not joined with an obvious adoration for Silentsong, Appleshade would've mercilessly flirted with him. Silentsong was a she-cat she considered a friend, so the idea was unthinkable now.
That didn't make this conversation any less interesting, though. "What business do you have with Zephyrfang?" She mewed, curious. Appleshade intended to coax the truth of this mysterious she-cat first, before she went and fetched the tawny TreeClan warrior. Great StarClan, Zephyrfang wasn't... cheating on Silentsong, was he? No of course not. Appleshade chided herself with a small shake of her head, casting aside those silly notions like one would shake off a leaf.
It was a gorgeous day, and Appleshade wasn't going to pretend she wasn't privately wishing Amara had been a handsome stranger from afar, come to regale her with tales of his adventures—but a new face was a new face, and when you reached 46 moons, you didn't meet too many new cats who were likely the same age as her.

Amara smiled just a little once it was indeed another TreeClan cat she was talking to. She felt the urge to talk to Appleshade about him but wasn't sure where to begin. Perhaps Zuma hadn't told the Clan their shared past. Maybe what he used to be was a secret to them all. Amara wasn't about to be the one to break that silence and instead focused and what she knew was safe to talk about.
"He is an old friend and I wanted to get in touch wit him," She phrased her answer carefully, secrets were best kept. Her russet tail flicked back and forth for a moment unsure if her answer was satisfactory.
"I knew him before he joined the Clan. I've always been curious about the Clans and wondered if it would be something I wanted," The honesty in her words even surprised herself.
Amara had a feeling she was missing something in her life. The past season spent mostly alone did nothing but urge the she-cat to find some sense of kinship even if that meant joining a Clan.

Islands, diamonds, trips around the world,
An old friend? Well that's perfectly fine, not that I was concerned. Her inviting disposition did not lessen at Amara's words, but rather grew, the silver-sorrel she-cat displaying a pretty smile meant to be encouraging. "Really? Well you've met the right feline, Amara. Now I can't be too detailed, but if you have any questions, I imagine I can answer them. I'm a Clan-born TreeClan cat, and some would say I know more than most about the comings-and-goings of my Clanmates."
In other words, they considered Appleshade to be nosy, but she couldn't help herself. A juicy bit of gossip was a juicy bit of gossip, and that was all she needed to make the day a little more interesting sometimes. With a glitter of the eye and her tail raised high, Appleshade crossed the border to stand closer to Amara, choosing a sunny patch so that the rays would warm her fur while they talked. "Zephyrfang's on patrol, but I'll tell him you're in the area when he returns to camp." Appleshade watched her, expression expectant.
If the she-cat had any questions, Appleshade was all ears.

Amara nodded in gratitude toward the she-cat. It was a nice change of pace to be greeted with kindness about her questions instead of hostility about asking. Perhaps TreeClan had different beliefs on allowing cats to join the Clan.
"Is it worth it? Give up freedom to stay in one place all the time? I don't mean to sound mean or anything, I've just lived my life alone but being with friends and family sounds better then being alone,"
Her question was filled with curiosity. Zuma seemed happy, he hadn't ran away or anything. There has always been safety in numbers and with the wilds around them being hostile and the monster known as Demon lurking all around, TreeClan could be the safety she needs.
"I'd appreciate it if you could do that for me. It has been awhile since I've seen him. I'll try to be here around noon for the next few days," She thanked the she-cat with a bow of her head.

What an absurd question! Thought Appleshade, flabbergasted that any feline would want to wander around aimlessly with no company or companionship for miles around. Such isolation. It was enough to make any cat absolutely batty. "Oh Amara, being around friends and family is the best thing there is. Why have you been alone for so long?" Appleshade's heart panged for her. Oh no wonder she was looking for Zephyrfang; Appleshade would have sought out her brother, Sprucefur, and her sister, Lichenfrost in a heartbeat if they'd been separated for any reason. "Being around others is wonderful. There's safety in numbers, you know, and whenever something terrible happens—StarClan forbid—there's someone around to share your grievances. Or share your joys."
Appleshade paused, her head tilted, as if she'd just now had an epiphany for herself. And I've done very little to contribute to my Clan, apart from flirting and socializing like an exuberant butterfly... Ah, well. Better late than never, right? Perhaps she would... take on an apprentice? Appleshade almost cringed away from that much responsibility, but drew in a steeling breath and turned her focus back onto Amara, smiling.

The reaction from Appleshade had a sort of panicked look flash across Amara's face. The Clan-cat seemed very passionate about her life and perhaps Amara was missing out on something.
All semblance to family in the form of loyalty toward the cause and who hadn't yet perished. There were not lasting friendships, just relationship built upon who had more or less power. Nothing worth keeping once her mother died, in fact most of them turned on Amara as soon as the monster of a she-cat died.
She agreed that there was safety in numbers. Amara had been the victim in recent moons of being a loner. Picturing perfectly for a moment the look in the eyes of the she-cat that remembered who she was.
But what really struck Amara was the aspect of sharing. Never in her life had someone shared anything other than pain, not since Zuma left. The pride had nothing but anguish to give. Cats went hungry if they didn't hunt for themselves. They often feuded over what little food was to be found in their mountain domain. Perhaps sharing in a honest and sacred since would proved to beneficial to the wandering russet loner.
"That all sounds amazing," She replied to Appleshade, offering her a returned smile.
"I can see why Zephyrfang decided to stay. He must be very happy," Amara continued on to say, but it was the final bit about her brother's happiness that cared a somber note. She wanted that and felt she deserved it as well.

Appleshade, who had something of a sixth sense about the feelings and desires of others, smiled encouragingly. "I'm sure he can tell you all that himself." The pretty feline leaned in, her voice lowering to a conspiratorial whisper. "I can put in a good word with Lionstar, if you'd like. He's fair. If you can be loyal and abide by our code, I don't see any reason why you can't join us."
Obviously it wasn't really for Appleshade to say, but she couldn't help herself. It tugged at the social she-cat's heartstrings to see another feline looking melancholic, especially lonesome, as if a storm cloud had followed Amara for most of her life and the she-cat could certainly do with a bit of sunshine.
I'll talk to Zephyrfang too, she vowed. Amazing how a tom who could interpret and fall in love with a cat who couldn't speak, probably didn't have even half as much attentiveness towards his own kin.
Appleshade thought that was rather brutish of him, to just abandon his own family like that. She knew he'd been a loner, and that loners were tough and unapologetic about it, but still... Appleshade's tail tip twitched, fretting a little over this new she-cat she considered a friend.
"I'm afraid I can't linger, but I'll keep you in my thoughts, Amara. Maybe we'll be calling you something else someday, hm~?" Her voice ended in a soft, encouraging trill, like a bird that had finished its song.
