Whitethorn

It was a perfectly ordinary day in Lightningclan camp. Cats moved about their day-to-day business as per usual while the sun beamed down mildly on to the valley. It was pleasant. But rather uninspiring, Whitethorn thought as he prowled about camp, his orange eyes alert for any break in the monotony of the day.

The tuxedo tom nodded politely to his clanmates as he padded towards the fresh-kill pile. “Not a whole lot to choose from, is there?” he muttered to himself as he pushed around a scrawny looking mouse. It was already stiff and cold. He stretched and yawned luxuriously. Whitethorn had been on patrol early this morning but had gone back to his nest instead of eating when the hunting party returned. “You snooze you lose, I suppose.”

He shook himself and cast around for any cat to join him on a little hunt. He spotted the calico she-cat Dandelionpaw, former medicine cat apprentice. Poor thing, he thought to himself, it must have been a hard decision to make. Perhaps she would like to go on a little outing? It was, after all, half-moon this evening—perhaps she could use the distraction.

Whitethorn padded up to the apprentice, tail held high, “Greetings Dandelionpaw! I was thinking of going on a hunt to shore up our abysmal freshkill pile. Would you care to join me? It’s a perfectly fine day for it.”
