Description: Driftshade is a rather large Tom with a bulky body and thick limbs to support his frame. He doesn't tower over others, being of average height, but is a bit like a barrel made of muscle. The lids over his pale green eyes seem to be permanent scowl that gives about an appearance lacking compassion and patience, which isn't completely wrong. He walks with heavy steps and chooses to conserve his energy for times of need. He is an older man with long, needle like whiskers and a thick tail that normally hands low. He isn't one to vie for attention, sticking to the shadows awaiting his time to strike.
Summary: A large Tom of muscle with a strong stature and a coat of dark browns and black stripes.

Personality
Positive:
Calculating- Driftshade prefers to stay in the background and watch as others go about their days. He likes to take his time learning by observation, he will get to know you in order to find your flaws, your weaknesses, he will make note and use them in times it is convenient for him. When it is time to take action you can be sure that he has a plan in place. He doesn't like to be disrupted when in his thoughts, which remain in linear patterns. He is a bit uptight in this way as well. This happens best in times of peace when his mind is at ease.
Quiet- Cats that talk to much come off as air headed and self indulgent. Always talking removes the chance to learn and more often Driftshade is silent and shadow like. It's rare for him to initiate conversation-unless he has a plan in place that requires it.
Ambitious- It's no doubt that he is a Tom who is focused on the future and see's no reason to rush things. He has goals for his life and will be damned if he doesn't accomplish them. It's what made him a Warrior in the first place. It's what he wanted and so he worked hard until he achieved it and continued to thrive in that position as moons passed.
Negative:
Cold- Rather foreboding in appearance, Driftshade is cold in his personality. He doesn't open up to anyone and rarely enjoys company, barely tolerating his younger sister at times. Being in solitude is where he thrives, often up in a tree observing others he finds some peace for he can avoid most interaction and continue collecting data on the other clan cats.
Aggressive- He isn't one to take kindly to others. When annoyed he will bluntly tell you or lash out. Fighting is one area where he expresses himself, he let out his frustrations and gain some joy. Camping out during a fray was hard but once he was able to leap into action there was no stopping him. He's still that way now. He has little patience.
Indifferent- In regards to others feelings, frankly he doesn't care. Making someone feel upset doesn't bother him. Driftshade is concerned with himself and his goals, if he has to trample over others in the process is no bother for him.
Conflicted- There is a constant internal struggle within him. He has a disdain for others and yet when he see's others in loving relationships. Part of him wants that but the other part wants nothing to do with it. These different views constantly put his brain at war and it distracts him often. These internal battles frustrate him and drives him to not thinking things through.
Impulsive- The conflict in his head leads to impulsivity, especially during high stress situations. Though he doesn't show it he does get emotionally overwhelmed and instead of thinking things through, all logic goes out the window and he follows his first thought, this happens most during unplanned face to face conflict. He lashes out when someone confront him and reacts with head strong anger.

History
When HailScreech and ViperClaw found out they were expecting their first litter they were ecstatic to carry on their genetic lineage of strong Warriors for Tree Clan. They eagerly awaited the arrival of their kits, letting their hard exteriors fall away as they waited for the day to welcome their children into the world, but their joy was short lived. Out of the three kits born only one survived and his name was Driftpaw.
From that devastating day HailScreech and ViperClaw lost what joy they had, their persona's turned stony and they threw their expectations onto their surviving kit. They wanted to show him the cruelty of the world so he wouldn't be soft and as he grew he started to see the world through a lens of anger and frustration and the small kit wanted nothing more than to prove himself to his parents for their love and affection he knew he deserved, but he never got it. Even after he became a Warrior they had already turned away from him for HailScreech was pregnant again. There was no glee for this litter for the parents expected the same outcome as before. Two female kits were born, Moonkit and Sunkit. The two girls seemed to melt their parents hearts and for a moment Driftshade hoped that his parents would give him the same affection. He had just become a Warrior and these two kits were surviving, why wouldn't his parents treat him with kindness?
He never got their kindness. When he came around his parents treated him like a disappointment, causing the Tom to fold in on himself. He pushed away from his family, finding himself as the only one he could every rely on. Though his presence was foreboding his sisters followed him once they were old enough, tugging at his tail and dodging his claws like a game. Moonkit and Sunkit loved their brother and his mean ways, finding him funny and for a minute Driftshade let himself enjoy the two, watching them grow and eventually Sunkit and Moonkit became Sunpaw and Moonpaw and started their own apprenticeships. Both girls hoped that they would be paired with their brother, but determined by their leaders Moonpaw was paired with another cat whose calm nature suited her while Sunpaw was paired with Drifshade. The two had many similarities from their looks to their interests and the young girl had always admired her brother, she was almost like a mini version of him. Drifshade was surprised, but accepted, maybe if he successfully trained his siblings his parents would show him the care he had lost.
The start of training had gone well, Sunpaw was a quick learner and absorbed everything her brother had to say though had a streak in her that made her want to do better than anyone else, seeking out often dangerous situations. During one of their trainings Driftshade succumbed to Sunpaws begging to go towards the border of their territory to see the Deer Path.
Drifthshade held his sister to high standards, assuming the young girl was more than ready, especially with his training and so they set out, the apprentice ready to see some deer. Driftshade had considered Sunpaw as his shadow and imagined that she could do what he could, even at a young age.
Everything was going well, they could smell the musky ungulates and headed towards them, Sunpaw wandering onto the path under Driftshades watchful eye, but then everything happened so fast. The earth sounded like it was shaking, fearful bleats filling the air as a heard of deer came barreling down the path as if chased by something evil. Their eyes were rolling and Sunpaw could only stare with wide eyes and they got closer. Driftshade, a few feet up the trail ran to his sister but it was too late. She was lost among the hooves and Driftshade lunged to the side, falling to the bushes. When the dust cleared Sunpaws body was broken and empty.
Driftshade carried her back to the clan with shame. His parents rage was apparent, in front of everyone they turned their backs and Driftshade was sure he would be kicked out of the clan, that would be the right thing to do, but instead pity was taken on him. Lionstar allowed him to remain, explaining to the others it was a fatal accident. Anyone else would be thankful, but Driftshade held distain towards their leader. He was soft. A real Tree Clan leader wouldn't accept this and yet here he was. From that day on Driftshade watched as his parents died and anger built up on him, the only thing that kept him some honor in the clan were his fighting skills and lack of fear.
Though he tolerated Lionstar and never showed outwardly his thoughts on their leader, Driftshade favored Pumastar. He knew some day the male would become their leader, Driftshade knew it. Pumastar would restore their clan to their former glory and make them strong. the day Pumastar became their leader, Driftshade knew their was hope. Driftshade hasn't gone on to have a mate or kits yet, though he plans to pass on his genetics. He is strong and knows his genes would benefit the new Tree Clan generation, he would just have to find the right she-cat and his eye has landed on a certain female, though hasn't made a move. Yet. He's planning his approach, sitting back and waiting for the right moment. Though the stress of the situation and the idea of any kind of connection to another makes him feel unease constantly.
When his parents passed, Driftshade felt nothing. Frankly, he was glad they were gone. They were ruled by their emotions and were unfit parents. The only good thing that came from them was his sister Moonstep, who even through this all has her brothers back, though doesn't outwardly show it.
