Leaf-fall OTS Nominations
RELATIONSHIP OF THE SEASON
We appreciate all the interesting submissions for this category! Relationships form the foundation for our roleplay, our plots together and the way our characters change over time. Relationships for this category don't always have to be romantic, but simply the bond (or lack thereof) two characters share. Congratulations to those who got nominated! Keep writing fun plots for us all to enjoy. And sorry that some entries are longer than others, it all depends on what the people nominating said about their nominees or how well different staff members know the relationships. Nothing to do with any one of them being better than another. ♥
BATEAR & KINDLEFLARE
The ship has sailed, I repeat, the ship. Has. Sailed. Reading about these two lovebirds falling for each other makes my heart genuinely warm. Thank you to Abyss and Bloo for bringing us such a lovely pairing. KindleBat deserves this spot more than I can say. "You made me realize...that maybe...I was just looking in the wrong place….when looking for the other half of my heart. It took me a while to realize, but….I think….I think I’ve fallen for you too.”
BEETLEJAW & SQUIRRELTALON
The ultimate mentor/apprentice duo. Reading Beetlejaw and Squirrelpaw's threads have been super sweet. They're so wholesome, and Beetlejaw's pang of sadness at Squirreltalon becoming a warrior and not being able to be his mentor anymore hit me hard. I seriously love these two.
BRAVEBIRD & MINNOWSPLASH
These two have been through a lot together, and unfortunately, Minnowsplash lost her unborn kits before both of them got the chance to be parents. Now, with love and hope in their hearts, they're willing to try again. I really, really hope that they get to have kits. My heart, guys. Please. If this litter doesn't work out I'll bawl.
CLOVERMASK & SHRIKESONG
Was this relationship doomed from the start? For Clovermask, Shrikesong offered a glimmer of hope, of belonging to a young she-cat who did not easily connect with others. A friend, a mother, a promise of support. For Shrikesong, she saw a very lonely Cloverpaw and wanted to give a little of the warmth and nurturing environment TreeClan's own youth are gifted. But Clovermask struggled with boundaries, and her delight over that first real friend turned into a deeply unhealthy obsession, warping Clovermask's view of Shrikesong herself, Shrikesong's mate Darkstone, and the future she believes is the right one. Moons have passed. Clovermask is now in a position of power. Shrikesong and Darkstone, as parents, are now in a position of vulnerability. What happens when 'old friends' collide again? Stay tuned...
DARKSTONE & SHRIKESONG
Their relationship began with conflict. Darkpaw was a harsh bully, Shrikepaw the righteous rescuer. But through a moment of vulnerability, Shrikepaw learned that Darkpaw's family life itself had driven him to take out his frustrations on his denmate. Their journey together, in falling in love, was a great read and deserves this nomination.
EMBERLIGHT & HONEYNOSE
The thing that stands out to me about this ship is just how real it feels. Both are fictional cats whose relationship is impacted upon by the laws of their world dictating that they can't be together, yet I feel wholly convinced as they pour their love out to eachother. It's like I've stumbled on a very real, emotional moment between lovers. It's fantastic to read.
FALCONSTORM & SAGEPAW
When Sagekit was just a kit, Falconstorm tossed her out for disturbing a dying patient. How interesting it is to see their relationship grow from there. Sagepaw's infectious optimism and innocence contrast so strongly with Falconstorm's world-worn nature. Will these two ever get along? In the meantime, it's great to read them not getting along.
I'm actually not the biggest fan of this relationship but, I do like that Sagepaw is constantly trying to better herself and do what she believes is right despite all the shit Falconstorm seems to put her through both verbally and emotionally. I think their relationship is extremely different from normal mentor/apprentice parings when it comes to the medicine cats, possibly more toxic rather than warm and gentle. Sagepaw has a difficult, uphill battle with how Falconstorm is, but it will be interesting to see how she grows due to it.
LEOPARDHEART & WINDSPIRIT
Leopardheart and Windspirit met as naive apprentices on the border between their Clans. An immediate connection was struck between the two young sweethearts, but the rules of putting your Clan first held them back at the start. After a second chance meeting where both had a run-in with a fox, Leopardpaw and Windpaw became firm friends. The meetings gradually became more and more frequent, with both growing closer and closer. Both young lovebirds got their warrior names, and not long afterward, Leopardheart proposed. Windspirit's pregnancy came as a surprise, and Leopardheart was forced to face the consequences of their relationship as he decided to leave his Clan behind to be there for his family. Now in a totally new environment, with a totally new role, Leopardheart and Windspirit are working hard to be the best parents that they can.
LIONSTAR & HONEYSONG
She waited for him, so they could go together to StarClan! My heart. Lionstar and Honeysong were a relationship I knew little of, but what little I saw of them put a real smile to my face. They had something really special, and I hope they're happy together in StarClan.
LIONSTAR & PUMAFANG
The dynamic between Lionstar and Pumafang is absolutely intriguing. Pumafang's chilling, cold and unempathetic nature contrasting with Lionstar's kind heart and voice of reason. Lionstar tried to see the best in his deputy, but in the end, has Pumafang learned from Lionstar's qualities? Or has he been freed from Lionstar's kind influence?
PUMASTAR & TIMBERFROST
This was never gonna be about a white-picket fence and 2.5 kids. Pumastar and Timberfrost were built upon mutual appreciation, loyalty, matched wits, and no small amount of lust. They have none of the syrupy sweetness of a typical TreeClan pairing, and that's the end of that. However, while they present a solid front, with Pumastar's ascension to power and the ghosts of Timberfrost's malevolent father, Goldenflame, cackling in the shadows, the foundation in this house is starting to crack. Their kits have arrived. TreeClan's guardianship now belongs to Pumastar. They always say there's a fine line between love and hate: for all that passion and intensity, no matter which way the pendulum swings, it's sure to be explosive.
