Backdated to Leaf-fall, year 7, Day 29: Temperatures drop a bit with the presence of random bursts of showers and blustering cold winds throughout the day. [googlefont=Xanh Mono][googlefont=Dosis] RAVENKIT l i g h t n i n g c l a n k i t t e n
Open your eyes, choking on his breath. It was slowly growing colder, the threat of snow whispered on the frosty winds. Ravenkit and Cloudkit had been ushered into the nursery, told that they'd catch their death if they played outside. Robinflame had disagreed, arguing that surely they could get some extra time outdoors, it wasn't that cold. She had played outside as a kit all the time, after all, even when it got cold, and she was fine. But there was no convincing the fussiest of nursery queens. Cloudkit bushed up his fur and proclaimed that they could play moss toss in a corner of the nursery. Ravenkit didn't hear him at first, he was preoccupied with wondering if he "caught his death", would he get to meet Dovecloud? That's where Robinflame said she was, right? In StarClan, and that they'd all be together again someday? He looked towards the nursery entrance, wondering where StarClan was and if there was a way he could walk to it from the nursery.
A mossball smacked him in the side of his head. "Hey!" He mewed, turning his eyes towards Cloudkit. His bushy-furred brother bounced forward with a smirk on his face. "What? You should've been paying attention!" He teased. Ravenkit swiped his paw, but it missed the moss ball. He attempted again, but instead of flying towards Cloudkit it simply rolled against the nursery wall. His brother, rather than teasing, picked up the mossball and dropped it at his paws. "I'll show you how." He promised, bushy tail furling behind him. He stood by his darker brother's side as both practiced swiping, Robinflame smiling widely as the pair of them worked as a team to perfect Ravenkit's swipe.
Eventually, Cloudkit assured him he was good enough to play now, but Ravenkit felt a flare of doubt sour in his chest. His green eyes filled with hesitation, so Cloudkit simply nudged him into a corner and ordered him to get ready to pounce. Ravenkit's eyes hardened with determination. He would catch it. This time, as the moss ball soared towards him, he tried his best to assume where it would be, rather than focusing on where it was. Swiping up a small paw, he batted the mossball, sending it flying across the nursery and cannoning into Robinflame's side. "Hey!" She snorted, flicking moss from her fur. But Ravenkit didn't mind- he'd actually hit it! And it went far this time! "Ravenkit, that was sick!" Cloudkit exclaimed, brushing against him encouragingly. "R-really?" Ravenkit asked, gawping at his littermate. Cloudkit nodded vigorously, his fluffy face bobbing along with the motion. Ravenkit fell quiet. Ravenkit's excitement over his success had faded somewhat. Instead, a dark cloud of worry loomed above his head, casting darkness on any semblance of triumph he had felt. Cloudkit hadn't understood why his brother suddenly felt the need to be alone. No explanation was offered, no hint as to why his spirits plummeted. The little brown-black and white kit simply sat by himself in the clearing, buffeted by the cold. He was clearly preoccupied with something, his little head bowed with worry as he mulled over the same thought in his head. Eventually, he rose, and on tiny, anxious little paws, tottered towards the medicine cat's den. Poking his head inside, he sniffed. There were so many smells in the air here, it gave him a bit of a headache. He slipped all the way inside, searching around for a familiar red shape. There! He felt a slight nip of relief. He was so afraid he'd get in trouble for entering the den when she wasn't there. Trotting towards her with wide, anxious eyes, the little tom halted next to her, forgetting to even say 'hello'. "Kindleflare!" He mewed, his voice pitched with alarm. "I think I'm sick."

"Some people see scars, and it is wounding they remember. To me they are proof of the fact that there is healing.โ KIndleFlare Caught up in wayward thoughts of black fur and warm nights cuddling, Kindleflare didn't notice the slightest change of lighting as a small shape ducked through the entrance of the medicine cat den. Idle paws continued to sort through herbs, the action so instinctive by now that her distracted mind proved to be of little hindrance to the tasks that needed her attention. Chamomile placed to the left, catmint to the right. Dark amber eyes were half-lidded in her daze, a smile ghosting over her features as she tucked the counted herbs back into designated nooks in the den wall.
Her gaze passed over the store of dandelion, and her ears perked slightly, remembering her newest apprentice. Dandelionpaw was out with a group of warriors and other apprentices, touring the borders of the territory. Despite having chosen the path of a medicine cat apprentice, it was good for Dandelionpaw to get out and learn the territory, and get to spend time with others near her age. Kindleflare knew just how solitary being a medicine cat apprentice could be, separated from the rest of the apprentices for so much of your training. She would never wish for anyone to feel that alone again, not if she could help it.
Speaking of alone... The ginger and white healer felt something akin to a gravitational pull in her heart. Something whispering for her to run and find Batear. To bask in the quiet moments and steal whatever time she could with the other she-cat. Oh how she yearned to feel the brush of that ebony fur against hers again...
A young and squeaking voice, calling out her name in the near-dead silence of the medicine cat den caused Kindleflare to nearly jump out of her fur. Stifling her own squeak of alarm, the ginger healer's head snapped to the side, amber eyes wide as her heart continued to try and escape from the cage of her chest.
What she found was... Ravenkit? Mind still reeling, Kindleflare juggled the task of calming her whirlwind mind while also listening to the little kit before her. Yet what he offered her did little to help sort out just what might be going on with the little member of her family tree.
Chest still rising and falling in too quick a rhythm to be considered normal, Kindleflare forced herself to lower her frame into a laying position. Her maw slipped into a gentle smile, though her gaze glittered with a hint of concern as Ravenkit declared that he thought he might be sick.
"R-Ravenk-kit, you g-gave me a f-fright!" She greeted him gently, bending to touch her nose to his forehead. Although the gesture was as innocuous as any, that particular touch of her nose helped her gauge Ravenkit's temperature. He didn't feel particularly warm to her, a fact she noted in the back of her mind as she pulled away. "W-What is g-going on? D-Do you feel o-out of breath, or t-too tired?" She asked to start, keeping her questions simple so as not to overwhelm the little kitten.
Otherwise, she'd never get any information from him, of that she was certain. Medicine Cat of LightningClan

[googlefont=Xanh Mono][googlefont=Dosis] RAVENKIT l i g h t n i n g c l a n k i t t e n
Open your eyes, choking on his breath. The medicine den was a mixture of smells both offensive and sweet, overwhelming and subtle. Ravenkit found his little yellow-green eyes drawn to the rows and rows of green, pink, purple, white, petals and leaves, roots and stems. So many plants that meant nothing to the little kitten yet somehow cured sickness and made his little paws feel better if he trod on something sharp. His lack of understanding made it so that Kindleflare to him was nothing short of magic. When his presence finally caught her attention, Ravenkit was astonished to find that he had startled her. In his naive youth, he had the impression that adult cats knew everything and feared nothing. Least of all did he know that the red she-cat's thoughts were preoccupied with lavish fantasies of black fur and a warm, shared nest.
A gentle nose bent to touch his tiny head, and Ravenkit, so typically reluctant to be cuddled or swaddled like the other kits, welcomed it with a purr. "Sorry." He meowed quietly, guilt tugging at his young heart. "I didn't mean to scare you." Doubt swirled in his mind once more. Cloudkit had told him he was sick- but he wasn't a medicine cat like Kindleflare or Dandelionpaw. Did his brother really know what sickness looked like? Maybe he made a mistake, and Ravenkit would look quite silly in front of Kindleflare if Cloudkit was wrong. Her questions made him question himself, and thus ensued a comical moment where Ravenkit took several deep breaths to test if he did feel breathless. He frowned. "Well, no." He answered thoughtfully. "But I am a bit tired after playing." He hesitated, directing his eyes towards her white paws, thinking that they looked very soft and small on the floor of the medicine den. "Cloudkit said I was sick." He finally admitted, seeming a small bit confused. "And I didn't want to make anyone else sick, so I came here." Finally lifting his little eyes to her, his whiskers twitched. "I-If I'm sick... will I have to go to StarClan?" He asked a little nervously. He didn't like the idea of having to live somewhere different than LightningClan. He liked living here.

"Some people see scars, and it is wounding they remember. To me they are proof of the fact that there is healing.โ KIndleFlare Ginger ears flicked forward in alarm as the little kit asked her if he'd have to go to StarClan. It was endearing, yet also a little concerning. With a gentle purr, the LightningClan medicine cat lowered herself so she lay on the ground near him instead, resting much closer to his level than before. "S-Stars a-above, no. You will n-not be going to StarClan a-any time soon, Ravenkit." She reassured him, her striped tail coming to rest along her body as her paws tucked underneath her. "A-And there is n-nothing wrong w-with being tired, e-especially if you've b-been playing a-all morning."
With a little tilt of her head, the she-cat's dark amber eyes inspected the young kit once more. Again, she came to the conclusion that he didn't look very sick. He was curious, and perhaps a little distant, but otherwise quite healthy. Still, she worried for him, and wanted to figure out just where this notion of his had come from. "I-It was very responsible of y-you to come here, Ravenkit. Why d-don't you r-rest here a l-little, i-if you're tired f-from playing. I also h-have a couple more questions t-to ask you n-now, if you're okay with that?" She paused a moment until she received some form of affirmative reply, and carried on after.
"Wh-What w-were you p-playing with Cloudkit b-before he told you that you w-were sick? C-Can you tell me wh-what happened, and just what it w-was your brother said t-to you? It w-will help me help you, i-if you can do that for me." She offered him another gentle smile, tapping her tail tip lightly on the ground next to her. It was a simple motion, but one that left an invitation to the little kit too. If he decided he wanted to, he was welcome to come lay next to her. But there was ever any pressure, for despite their blood relation, she was not the little kit's mother. As much as she treasured family, she would never force affection or physical contact on anyone who did not want it. Medicine Cat of LightningClan

[googlefont=Xanh Mono][googlefont=Dosis] RAVENKIT l i g h t n i n g c l a n k i t t e n
Open your eyes, choking on his breath. [attr="class","raven-content"]"Okay." He replied softly, the bushed parts of his fur settling into a smooth layer against his skin. Her face was an orange and white halo in the dark den, eyes round but kind. He felt less afraid of being silly as she brought her gaze down to be level with his face, taking away that feeling of smallness that so often shadowed a young kit. He looked at her stripey tail, which outlined her side as she lay down. He wished he had a stripey tail. His was a small, dark, sad little twig, which stuck out behind him in that awkward way kitten tails do.
His eyes glimmered with a hint of pride at being called "responsible", and he lifted his chin somewhat. "I don't mind. It smells funny here, though." He pointed out distractedly, his gaze drawing along the walls. Then, his attention momentarily diverted from his potential illness, Ravenkit flicked a curious, large ear. "Why are there so many smells? Shouldn't they all just smell like leaves?" He wrinkled his nose. Why the leaves and roots didn't just smell the way grass did bemuse him. In his little mind, herbs were all the same and did the same thing, made you better if you were sick. You just ate them, and voila, all better.
When she gestured to the ground beside her, Ravenkit settled down by her side, but not close enough to touch his fur against hers. She looked soft as moss, but she also smelled faintly of herbs and plants. He didn't know if he wanted to go back to the nursery smelling of medicine. She redirected his attention back to the issue at hand, and his green eyes darkened slightly with thought. "We were playing moss ball, and I wasn't very good." He answered frankly. "Cloudkit helped me practice." His ear twitched. He was beginning to feel a bit uneasy, concerned that he'd made an error or done something naughty and was wasting Kindleflare's time. "I caught the moss ball, and Cloudkit said I was sick. So I thought maybe the way I caught it..." His tail wrapped around his paws. The tiny kit wasn't sure, but he trusted his brother with all his heart and if Cloudkit thought something was wrong... he believed him. "Cloudkit is very smart, but he's not like you and Dandelionpaw." He pointed out, seemingly more to himself than to Kindleflare. He was trying to reassure himself that his sibling had made a mistake.
